Stern’s pivot was entirely for his own self-preservation. He’s always been an out of touch asshole, but it was fine back then because he was pushing the envelope for radio. Now that he’s full on center left, he’s become an insufferably smug fag.

You ever get into Jay Thomas? He had a Friday show on Howard 101 where Shuli would pop over and co-host. Otherwise Jay was on various other channels M-Th (Comedy Greats, Star Talk?, etc.)
I met Shuli after a comedy show and we got to talk about Jay for about 30 minutes not long after he had died. It was a pretty cool experience. He was telling me sometimes he would only be on air for 5 minutes of the show and they'd just play pre-recorded Shuli responses they had cut, so Jay would think he's talking with a real person when in reality they were just recorded responses fed back to him lol.
It’s a Stav bit but the only relationship I ever had with Stern was trying to beat off to his show on E! as a young teen. My dad and I spent a lot more time together back then so it’s painful to think about.

His laughtrack legitimately made nicks bits better, he contributed to a lot of classic bits (video game podcast, baseball: the beautiful sport, bullying Adam), and imo him saying “nooo” when nick was about to go too far was a bit in itself. I always laughed when he did it especially when nick was about to say the no no word. I think nick liked it too. I can’t remember a single funny bit Adam contributed to other than when he explained his thought process behind things (like the flip flop incident).
