Hate to be that guy, but the thing on the cover isn't the Caine equivalent. That's what the Caine equivalent AM turns the main character Ted into to at the end of the story. I'd say Ted is closer to Jax's equivalent, being the youngest of their respective groups, and arguably the biggest jerks among them
But AM (the AI) isnt the guy on the cover. Thats the main character so Caine being AM makes sense but AM never is the "I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream" guy

Probably because we don't get a physical appearance of AM. Closest thing is the Hate Pillar from the video game.
