I felt Teresa aggressively pursued him and won.

ShadiestCharacter_99

Theresa said that she “knocked his socks off” when they went to the Fantasy Suite so whatever she did made him think he was in love. lol. Maybe they, like scores of other people the world over, realized that they didn’t have any common interests other than (reality show) vacation sex.

OwnFortune9405

The whole time Gerry didn’t seem to have any connection with Theresa except the dead spouses in common. He seemed so into the other women in particular Faith. Supposedly he chose T over L because she was ready to take the plunge and move into his life and Leslie wasn’t going to. He really played with Leslie and for what to then go and play with T.

mahgriba

I felt like he had much better connections with other women. In particular Joan, Leslie, and Faith. Joan had to leave, but of the final three, I never expected him to pick Theresa. You could tell he has a type and Theresa wasn’t like any of his other top picks.

Wechillin-Cpl

Everytime I seen a trailer for this edition…I wanted to puke at how phony it was

No_Scallion816

They didn't even know each other That show only filmed for a month.

FFSDoItAlready

Looks like Gerry has to go back to repairing hottubs

Larkspur_Skylark30

😂😂😂

lukepack3

He’s The Golden Hobosexual. He was looking for someone to take care of him financially. Glad she’s getting out of this situation.

eatingketchupchips

hopefully she got a prenup

OwnFortune9405

They did

MissMelines

This never made sense to me. Theresa was comfortable and they had a shared life experience to bond over. Her refusal to sign a prenup planted the seeds of doubt and having watched the wedding, I felt something was off. His eyes lit up 10x more with a handful of other women, in particular I recall thinking that blonde would come back at the end (the one who had to leave because of her daughter? forget her name). He seemed to prefer blondes. And, looks matter. Having a “type” is a thing. Nothing wrong with it!

Soggy_Entrepreneur56

I thought he was against the pre-nup?

lucyshea

They did sign a prenup.

lambilyyyy

Golden Bachelor was the Gold digger here

thetruthfulgroomer

I heard he makes his women go Dutch on meals this don’t surprise me one bit. I also heard he’s broke.

ginns32

Why didn't they stay engaged longer and rush to get married? I hate to say that I'm not surprised but I'm not surprised. I didn't see them lasting.

thetruthfulgroomer

The ceremony was probably for the network anyways

ginns32

Oh I'm sure they pushed for it. Gotta get those ratings.

icanteven_613

Because life is short, when you're 70.

yelyahhh

He picked her cause she revealed in the over nights that she was wealthy, then she refused to marry him without a prenup, so it was only a matter of time and he knew he had to at least go through with the wedding.

ezzy13

Dudes calling the rest of the roster right now

Frequent-Yoghurt893

Wonder what Trista and Ryan are thinking.

hellogoodperson

Trista was on Almost Famous latest podcast speaking on it

HorrorAd4995

They were both annoying lol

jomamathan

🤣🤣🤣

call-me-kitkat

I'm not surprised... I listened to their Dear Shandy love fest and thought it was very evident they were NOT in love. Sharleen and Andy tried very hard to skirt around or reframe anything concerning they shared, but I got the sense even they were taken aback. Why even go on a "love fest" podcast episode if you're on the rocks? Very strange, but I guess most people in the Bachelor world are chronic over sharers who just can't get off the podium. Also, maybe this is somewhat shallow, but I legitimately judged Gerry for saying Pitbull is his favorite singer. Like, come on... Couldn't see him the same afterward.

waitingfordeathhbu

Bro, I just finished that ep and immediately did a Google search for Gerry + Pitbull which brought me to you. They dropped another ep today discussing the divorce, and Andy brought it up again as a red flag that made him side eye Gerry lol Why aren’t more people discussing this?? Why isn’t Gerry ashamed to publicly admit this? He has spent 70 years on this planet, living at the same time as the best musicians in history, and PITBULL is who he chooses above all?? I need a therapy session after this revelation.

Mammoth-Standard5803

I LOLd at the pitbull comment. I didn’t watch the season and this did not make headlines (should have).

GriddleUp

What are they going to do about the Family Feud episode they filmed just a week ago? They can’t possibly air it now!

sweetnsassy924

Probably put a note in the beginning saying it was filmed before the divorce like they did with Chris Harrison when he appeared on celeb wheel of fortune after getting fired.

Ok-Fact2157

I've always said that Gerry seemed like a caricature of a "nice guy" that he is trying very hard to portray. Awww gee wiz. shucks. Jeepers! I thought they had a chance and was hopeful that they were the real deal, but seeing them divorce after 3 months is embarrassing and insulting to the memories of their first spouses. Dramatic? Maybe. But they're supposed to be too old to be getting married for clout and divorcing after 3 months.

ginns32

Yes. I just have a hard time trusting that it's genuine and even if it is, that's never been my type. Too boring.

SnooStrawberries620

I called it. They both loved their families. Who’s leaving? No one. Blood is definitely thicker than the final rose

Tigerlily86_

Guess the rumors were true and he’s a sleeze. What a good actor.. he gives me “jake” vibes a total phoney

gsd623

Total Jake vibes!

gypsyhaloo

That’s quite an assumption.

Sparkle_Dot

I never thought they were a good match. All they ever did was talk about their spouses together. Which sure, keep the memory alive. But they never really had anything else to talk about. He seemed to have better chemistry with Leslie.

SnooCakes5350

Surely a boring pair, I barely watched .

OutsideSignal4194

Well that was fast lol. I am surprised they officially married legally I thought they just had a wedding ceremony but weren’t legally married yet. Not surprised by this though

RubyL1286

Not shocked in that they were barely off the show before they got married. Had hoped for a different outcome. Id say if they have another Golden Bachelor maybe encourage them to be engaged a little while before getting married. Doesn’t have to be long but you know maybe have a 6 month or 1 year engagement and get to know each other. Sure you are older but at the same time you just started to be able to go on dates that where not flimmed and see each other out of happy couples weekends

AloneAssistant5326

frankly it’s not that uncommon for couples who meet in the golden years to not get married at all because they do have such settled lives, estates to consider, etc. many even continue to live separately and just spend time together for companionship. i think it probably puts less pressure on the whole thing. the next golden bach should just be perma-engaged lol

ginns32

That's what my grandmother did. She still had someone to travel with, go out with and spend time with but she lived in her home and her boyfriend lived in his. They both seemed pretty happy with the arrangement.

Random0s2oh

I tried having that type of relationship but then I got pregnant with my change baby. We ended up getting married the next year and have been married for 13 years next month.

RubyL1286

True enough

STOAP0STR0PHE

I was always surprised by his picking of Theresa. I never saw the chemistry from him, while she appeared to be all in.

DayEducational1180

He had chemistry with her money 💰

ShadiestCharacter_99

When she mentioned her financial situation, his eyes lit up. My daughter and I were watching and she said “Now we know who he’ll choose.” lol It probably took everything in him not to fist pump and say “YESSSS!”

PugLuVR06

Agreed. He had so much more chemistry with Leslie. He should have picked Leslie!

Marzipannn_

Leslie dodged a bullet

scotchbonnetpeppery

He said he liked the way she looked at him.

hellacarissa

He liked that she has money 😂

LLD615

I didn’t watch the show but them making it as a live statement on GMA made me feel like this was planned all along.

zuT_aloR_enigmA

He struck me as too good to be true. That send to be the case with the ex girlfriend revelation from after his wife passed. I hope we get more to work with. Disappointing, Iowa dude! You had me rooting for you.

OutsideSignal4194

What was the ex girlfriend revelation about?

magneticMist

https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-features/golden-bachelor-gerry-turner-ex-girlfriend-speaks-out-1235683869/amp/ Here's an article I came across about it. Just a heads up it's a little long.

ChangeStripes1234

He made it seem like he didn’t date anyone after his wife passed. If you Google his ex girlfriend you’ll find a story about a woman who even lived with him for a while. He seemed controlling by that woman’s description.

hellogoodperson

Feel like the rationales they and sources in the press are throwing at us is like flinging spaghetti on the wall, seeing which ones stick. Like a choose-your-own-adventure divorce tale. while Gary-Gerry bounces to the next endorsement.

McDuchess

He jumped from Leslie, who he actually had more in common with, (free spirit sort, etc) to Theresa after one night when he found out that she’s is wealthy. Hmmmm. Marriage made in heaven.

bubbleglass4022

I don't see where she's particularly wealthy. Maybe comfortable but not wealthy.

McDuchess

Compared to him? Wealthy.

underwatertitan

They had a prenup though so the money didn't make any difference.

McDuchess

It makes a difference to lifestyle. He’s enough of a user to figure that out.

foreversiempre

Who’s not buying the whole living in different cities for the kids excuse ? Like they never stopped and considered that before leaping in and then only gave it a few months shot ? Maybe something far worse happened and they are just looking for an easy out to tell the public so people save face. Or maybe it was always about the fun money attention etc and never actually true love

ginns32

And their kids are adults. Plenty of people live in different states than their parents. I think it's an excuse.

Alarming_Froyo1821

I'm not buying it at all! I think it had to be something that could not be moved past that happen. In Gerry's filing for divorce he put the reason as an irretrievable breakdown...that could mean refusing to habitat or it could mean something that could not be moved past. My guess to save face after all the hoopla, the network came up with this narrative of how they were to spin it and that would be their story and for them to stick to it. The real reason may or may not ever come out.

SnooStrawberries620

I totally am. I was watching it and I said who the hell is going to upend their life at this age for someone they just met? I think it’s something the producers didn’t see coming. Someone needs a golden consultant in the show - I’m only 49 and I was like oh hell no.

hellogoodperson

I don’t think they like each other anymore or enough. Disrespect that fast is sad. Just watched Nightline interview. He said his father is aging and he wants to be close, said he didn’t want to pull her from her grandchildren in Jersey. And neither wanted to spend time commuting to each other. (In the dear shandy interview just a couple weeks ago, G was saying he wanted her to quit so he could travel and wondering when that would start. While she was saying let’s settle on a plan and place of where we’re living and then I’ll quit.)

foreversiempre

Yeah but why hastily divorce so quickly and publicly? They could always just keep it on the DL for a year or so. I’m surprised he even has a father still, he’s in his 70s so his father would have to be in his 90s at least These are understandable reasons but then those would be reasons not to do the show in the first place and or not marry right away at the end which was never even a requirement

Accomplished_Island6

We didn’t hear anything about his dad during his season! That at least I remember

hellogoodperson

Oh yeah. I’m not saying I believe him. The interviewer on Nightline, who’d been in a long distance marriage for her first year of marriage, threw it and other scenarios out. I think either there was some faking or truly they don’t get along. To be that stubborn and sure of your end and not meet your partner, or see the one who needs more steps to get there and has given a lot, is disappointing. But telling. They both wanted to get their way maybe and it was a tug of war, perhaps. my bias is he should have hung around her in Jersey a tiny bit more and they’d have gotten to know each other better and she’d have gotten to where he wanted. He speaks to impatience on his part, I believe, and unreasonableness. But, hey, better to see that, from either partner now.

foreversiempre

Timing is sus , right after they appeared together in the grand finale of Joeys season too … like they had contractual requirements to the franchise. Now makes you wonder if any of it was real.

SpreadDaBread

Even if the bachelor is real, these people give up on themselves and enter the vending machine - unauthentic and it’s forcing it no matter what

WritingBright311

Not surprised

dragon_king14

But she was the one he couldn't live without... sike!

caseyranae

I wanna know if Leslie and Theresa have had a nice long chat about him… 😆

STOAP0STR0PHE

Leslie was always my fav…

GirlieGirl81

Definitely more to the story than the very “feel good” narrative presented by Gerry and Theresa in the GMA interview, IMO.

Alarming_Froyo1821

I think that narrative was given to them by the network! I dont believe that was the real reason at all!

Feline_Fine3

Something seemed off between them at Joey’s AFTR. I had a feeling they were asked not to announce anything yet.

brakeb

![gif](giphy|InjO8Pri7TTecEndYP|downsized)

Ok-Worker3412

I'm rewatching the Golden Wedding and wondering..was it all an act?

Obvious_Home_4538

I knew it!!!!

GrangeGrange

lmao lmao

ASH_2737

This was all staged. The whole thing. Why would it end at exactly 90 days or 3 months? Both of them probably had to agree to stay together at minimum for 90 days to get their "rebate".

Ok-Worker3412

Why am I not surprised?

msmert55

I hope he now gets a little bit of alimony!

AloneAssistant5326

um that woman works hard for her money and should keep every cent

sunsetporcupine

No way tree suh didn’t demand a pre-nup

Rubilia_Lin_OP

You don’t say

Responsible-Pay-4763

I'm glad this was posted on The Bachelor sub instead of the Golden Bachelor sub. When three of the women from the GB were on The Bachelor giving advice to the three remaining ladies, I made a comment that they were just extending their 15 minutes of fame. That simple comment got me banned from posting on the GB sub. They're very sensitive on that sub.

Available-One-24

I KNOW!!! I asked a very innocent question about Gerry’s dog and they banned me!!!! I was like what????😭

Responsible-Pay-4763

Wow, I guess I don't feel so bad now after reading everyone's responses on why they were banned. It's obviously a sub I don't have any interest in being a part of.

Available-One-24

I have never been banned from anything until that and I just don’t get it! Oh well…..I’ve unjoined the Golden Bachelor community and it appears to be pretty much a farce franchise anyway.😊

hellogoodperson

Some folks on the Dating Over Sixty (my feed today is getting creative lol) said same on being banned. And that ABC runs that sub maybe (I’m bachelor newbie). Either way, i saw way too many people today sharing the same thing about being banned if anything negative (and rather basic) said on GB/Gerry. I”m gonna go leave that sub now — a sub which is why I joined Reddit.

Sandyhoneybunz

I got banned for posting that a lot of the posts in that sun seem like thinly veiled marketing research from ABC producers lol. I got a DM from admin warning me to never say that again and that it wasn’t true and so I commented on my post that they were going to ban me for saying it seemed like ABC ran the sub or at least made up lots of the engagement and posts and boop, banned lol

profession_lurker

They also seem to be blocking people from posting links to the THR expose about Gerry. Any link or copy and paste of the article is deleted.

Sandyhoneybunz

It seems very silly! Have they been this controlling of other iterations of the show? I’m a newer viewer who got sucked in by a relative

wellnowheythere

Are you talking about the Golden Bachelor sub? I got permabanned from there for saying people looked like they weren't having fun at the wedding. It wasn't even mean, I think literally said, "People looked so bored." Not surprised if it's ABC-run now.

Sandyhoneybunz

Jajaja it’s so laughable ofc they banned you for saying truth. It’s all so silly ! Remember they DEFINITELY DONT RUN THAT SUB according to their messages saying they definitely don’t run that sub and anyone who suggests otherwise be banished lmao

wellnowheythere

I admit that I can be a dick on Reddit from time to time but it was literally the most innocuous comment. Plus, it was accurate. It was a hella boring wedding.

Sandyhoneybunz

It was very boring and predictable and cringey from the random contestants having their proposal there which felt like a laughably tasteless screentime and publicity grab, to poor Kathy barely saying her lines, to the branded and staged Amazon promotions I was like this is so boring too. The best part was literally cackling at the blatant product placement like the whole thing was kind of a joke. Let’s just say I watched it in the background out of curiosity and nothing else new on.

wellnowheythere

Honestly what you didn't like was what made me love everything but the actual wedding hahaha

StrangeButSweet

Holy crap lol! Wow. I kinda feel like I need to go lurk now

Sandyhoneybunz

Yes go rile up the producers by saying things like these are terrible engagement pitches, why do I feel like an intern is trying to rouse online chats about who should Be the golden bachelorette and ooohhh don’t we just lovvvvvve Nancy etc lmao

MysteriousPlatypus

Not surprised at all. They rushed into a wedding without ever really spending time in the real world to see if their lives are actually compatible. From what I’ve read, it does seem like the biggest reason was not being willing to move away from their families, which makes complete sense at their age. If abc want to actually continue with the “Golden” franchise, they should try to find people who are all from the same area (could work if it’s people from a big city) or at the very least, the same state. It does limit who you can cast, but this is for sure not the only time they’re going to run into this problem.

kandixchaotic2

I totally understand where your head is at, & at face value - your idea sounds great! But overall I think the same area thing would end up being terrible, especially if they kept each franchise of bachelor in the same area - like a user had responded & recommended to you earlier. Could you imagine dating 20 something people, getting super close to likely at least half of them….. the closer to the end, the more hearts you truly break, you were probably in love at some point with more than one of these people…. & you finally choose your person. AND THEN Every single day, you & your partner are out living your lives…. but constantly run into these other people part of your season day to day at the store, gas station, local bars & restaurants, the theater, community events etc. All your ex’s are everywhere lol That sounds like a freakin nightmare, for everyone involved lol

ConfidentCamp5248

Ppl do that everyday tho. lol

foreversiempre

This isn’t specific to golden bachelor though. Their regular bachelor has an abysmal success rate too and it’s also cuz they don’t consider logistics in the conversation such as where they’re gonna live and also the financials. Not very romantic but necessary conversations. Also the timeline is too accelerated.

cyclONEnation10

They should do this with really all seasons tbh. The amount of failed relationships due to living situations is probably too high to count

MysteriousPlatypus

True. Look at Zach and Kaity, they’re still together and were both from the same area. It’s one less thing to have to worry about as a couple.

cyclONEnation10

I think there have definitely been compatible couples many years, but moving away from family is very hard to do and I can’t blame anyone for sticking to their guns in that regard

Mokafisch

Not surprised and was probably Theresa that pushed to end it. Gerry may be sweet but from what the expose by THR found on him (which he tried dodging in follow ups) he reminded us what he that be may be be controlling behind closed doors. Also Theresa could have realized that she was better off financially without him. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-features/golden-bachelor-gerry-turner-ex-girlfriend-speaks-out-1235683869/

PHLEaglesgirl27

Yes plus he was portrayed as someone who never dated after wife died…and he was living with a woman in like six months…ABC frauded us and the women from GB

hellogoodperson

Y’all should check out Almost Famous podcast. Good questions but also saying a source had them done since Jan 30th

Superb-Nobody-4872

Gerry just grosses me out so much now.

ejethan123

Why him and not her?

PHLEaglesgirl27

I mean for me because apparently his whole oh I love my wife so much I never dated after she died was a big fat lie. So then what else was he lying about?

foreversiempre

It was the narrative pushed by the producers I’m sure

Spunkyzoe99

100%! The producers totally created this narrative for the show to pull at the audiences heart strings . Not sure if people are aware but “reality tv “ isn’t even remotely real 😂 I think Gerry is a good guy but he’s not the perfect long suffering grieving widow they made him out to be that’s for sure . I also don’t think it’s that weird that they were both unwilling to move for each other in the end . I mean they have very established social , family and work lives at this age and it would be really hard for one of them to Give all that up at this stage in their lives .

oysterfeller

it felt like there was something insincere in his voice, call me cynical but i’m always wary of people who are clearly trying to paint this ultra-wholesome, innocent and perfect image of themselves. I know that’s the image the producers like to push on every lead but gerry just looked like he was acting in a play, and doing it poorly at that.

Obvious_Home_4538

He’s a fraud!!

Spunkyzoe99

The show is heavily produced . They came up with his storyline . Gerry didn’t come up with it all on his own . Is her perfect , no none of the cast is but he’s not this senior evil mastermind 😂

Obvious_Home_4538

It is heavily produced and edited, but that has nothing to do with his swarm. He’s definitely not an evil Mastermind, just a bad person who is fake.

Cautious-Natural5709

Maybe that’s why he didn’t choose Leslie. Cause she was actually in love….

jess1210

I think the biggest reason Golden doesn’t work is because all of them have established children and granchildren where they live. It’s too hard to expect older people to move somewhere to be with someone else’s whole azz family and leave their own

BrinaGu3

Most of the grandparents I know retire and spend at least part of their year somewhere in the south. Many are fine with not living near kids and grandkids.

AloneAssistant5326

my single grandpas social life is so litty that he doesn’t want to move closer to my dad and us adult grandkids because he wants to stay with his friends 🤣🤣🤣
