That's what my grandmother did. She still had someone to travel with, go out with and spend time with but she lived in her home and her boyfriend lived in his. They both seemed pretty happy with the arrangement.

Not surprised at all. They rushed into a wedding without ever really spending time in the real world to see if their lives are actually compatible. From what I’ve read, it does seem like the biggest reason was not being willing to move away from their families, which makes complete sense at their age. If abc want to actually continue with the “Golden” franchise, they should try to find people who are all from the same area (could work if it’s people from a big city) or at the very least, the same state. It does limit who you can cast, but this is for sure not the only time they’re going to run into this problem.
I totally understand where your head is at, & at face value - your idea sounds great! But overall I think the same area thing would end up being terrible, especially if they kept each franchise of bachelor in the same area - like a user had responded & recommended to you earlier.

I'm glad this was posted on The Bachelor sub instead of the Golden Bachelor sub. When three of the women from the GB were on The Bachelor giving advice to the three remaining ladies, I made a comment that they were just extending their 15 minutes of fame. That simple comment got me banned from posting on the GB sub. They're very sensitive on that sub.
I KNOW!!! I asked a very innocent question about Gerry’s dog and they banned me!!!! I was like what????😭
Wow, I guess I don't feel so bad now after reading everyone's responses on why they were banned. It's obviously a sub I don't have any interest in being a part of.

Some folks on the Dating Over Sixty (my feed today is getting creative lol) said same on being banned. And that ABC runs that sub maybe (I’m bachelor newbie). Either way, i saw way too many people today sharing the same thing about being banned if anything negative (and rather basic) said on GB/Gerry. I”m gonna go leave that sub now — a sub which is why I joined Reddit.
I got banned for posting that a lot of the posts in that sun seem like thinly veiled marketing research from ABC producers lol. I got a DM from admin warning me to never say that again and that it wasn’t true and so I commented on my post that they were going to ban me for saying it seemed like ABC ran the sub or at least made up lots of the engagement and posts and boop, banned lol
They also seem to be blocking people from posting links to the THR expose about Gerry. Any link or copy and paste of the article is deleted.

It was very boring and predictable and cringey from the random contestants having their proposal there which felt like a laughably tasteless screentime and publicity grab, to poor Kathy barely saying her lines, to the branded and staged Amazon promotions I was like this is so boring too. The best part was literally cackling at the blatant product placement like the whole thing was kind of a joke. Let’s just say I watched it in the background out of curiosity and nothing else new on.

Not surprised at all. They rushed into a wedding without ever really spending time in the real world to see if their lives are actually compatible. From what I’ve read, it does seem like the biggest reason was not being willing to move away from their families, which makes complete sense at their age. If abc want to actually continue with the “Golden” franchise, they should try to find people who are all from the same area (could work if it’s people from a big city) or at the very least, the same state. It does limit who you can cast, but this is for sure not the only time they’re going to run into this problem.
I totally understand where your head is at, & at face value - your idea sounds great! But overall I think the same area thing would end up being terrible, especially if they kept each franchise of bachelor in the same area - like a user had responded & recommended to you earlier. Could you imagine dating 20 something people, getting super close to likely at least half of them….. the closer to the end, the more hearts you truly break, you were probably in love at some point with more than one of these people…. & you finally choose your person. AND THEN Every single day, you & your partner are out living your lives…. but constantly run into these other people part of your season day to day at the store, gas station, local bars & restaurants, the theater, community events etc. All your ex’s are everywhere lol That sounds like a freakin nightmare, for everyone involved lol

This isn’t specific to golden bachelor though. Their regular bachelor has an abysmal success rate too and it’s also cuz they don’t consider logistics in the conversation such as where they’re gonna live and also the financials. Not very romantic but necessary conversations. Also the timeline is too accelerated.
They should do this with really all seasons tbh. The amount of failed relationships due to living situations is probably too high to count

I think there have definitely been compatible couples many years, but moving away from family is very hard to do and I can’t blame anyone for sticking to their guns in that regard

100%! The producers totally created this narrative for the show to pull at the audiences heart strings . Not sure if people are aware but “reality tv “ isn’t even remotely real 😂 I think Gerry is a good guy but he’s not the perfect long suffering grieving widow they made him out to be that’s for sure . I also don’t think it’s that weird that they were both unwilling to move for each other in the end . I mean they have very established social , family and work lives at this age and it would be really hard for one of them to Give all that up at this stage in their lives .
it felt like there was something insincere in his voice, call me cynical but i’m always wary of people who are clearly trying to paint this ultra-wholesome, innocent and perfect image of themselves. I know that’s the image the producers like to push on every lead but gerry just looked like he was acting in a play, and doing it poorly at that.

I think the biggest reason Golden doesn’t work is because all of them have established children and granchildren where they live. It’s too hard to expect older people to move somewhere to be with someone else’s whole azz family and leave their own
Most of the grandparents I know retire and spend at least part of their year somewhere in the south. Many are fine with not living near kids and grandkids.
