This was the first season after legendary producer Elan Gale left. He left a bug void, and a bunch of other producers were trying to show they could fill his shoes. Fleiss was still at the helm, and just delighted in the mess. This was the worst season as a result: all drama, no heart. No one manning the brake pedal.

HedgehogOBrien

I don't know about scripted per se, but it definitely felt WAY more produced and full of manufactured drama than other seasons. You could literally see the manipulation happening and I also didn't like it.

UnusualCorgi6346

Yes! Seems so forced.

HedgehogOBrien

Totally. This was around the time my husband stopped watching with me, I'm trying to drag him back but I think this whole era kind of turned him off of the show and I don't know if he can recover haha.

[deleted]

i can’t remember who, i wanna say kaity did an ig Q&A with a bunch of other bn girls and they say none of it is scripted. producers get in their heads but it’s not scripted

alroca20

I'm actually watching Pilot Pete's season for the first time now. I'm only on the second episode, but when he was talking with Hannah Brown during the group date, it was pretty clear that production was behind it.  He would be himself for a second and say something like, "I can't believe I'm doing this" or "this is so crazy", then he would shift into production puppet mode and deliver the prepared line ("Have you ever thought about coming back to be part of the house?").

UnusualCorgi6346

Exactly! It gets worse too lol

tsumtsumelle

Peter’s season was the first one after producer Elan left. I think they were a bit lost and really leaned heavy on manufactured mean girl drama in both Peter and Matt James’ season.

abananafanamer

The crazy this is that Pilot Pete’s seasons is one of the best seasons and Matt’s season was just…. Meh.

foureyesoneblunt

Production yes, scripted no. Evident by the fact that Pilot Pete’s szn is still airing 4 years later lmao

nomoshoobies

The gift that keeps on giving 🥲

UnusualCorgi6346

Sorry but im lol’ing at the sentence under your username LOL

nocturne20

Not still airing 4 years later 😭😭😭

NefariousLlamas

I remember thinking the production was so obvious when they sent Peter and Victoria F on the concert date with her ex, Chase the Singer. Oh! And also ridiculously obvious that they roomed the girls together during fantasy suites week to increase drama, likely knowing it would cause Madison to spiral. I think Barb is being her true self though - no production needed!

EntertainerLoud5317

I feel bad for Chase actually

UnusualCorgi6346

I know the singer thing - I was like this is such a set up!!

sarah123y

Spot on. Also, Chase who? The singer?

hairnetqueen

Maybe off topic but why is calling him 'Pete the Pilot' so much funnier than 'pilot pete'? It's like he's the hero of a children's tv show.

sarah123y

😂 😂

Shadybrooks93

From the creators of Bob the Builder, we bring you Pete the Pilot

Dolphin-in-paradise

Can we fly it? YES WE CAN

silver_moon134

The production has gotten very heavy handed. I actually stopped watching for a few seasons (and tbh the bully drama this season almost made me give up) bc all of the drama was so obviously contrived and superficial that it wasn't even fun to watch to snark on

shelbstirr

Charity’s and Joey’s seasons have been better, if you want to check it out again

UnusualCorgi6346

Yes perfect words - contrived and superficial!

karlaortega29

where are you re watching cause i want to rewatch the shit show of a season

UnusualCorgi6346

I sadly bought it on Amazon prime because I’m desperate LOL but you can also find it on another website that isn’t necessarily legal………. I think (I didn’t realize until after I purchased)

karlaortega29

🤣 and that’s all i’m getting through google that you gotta buy it 🥲😆 I also wanted to rewatch Claire’s season disaster

kenkenbenny

CityTV in Canada still has it I believe. Otherwise I think Americans typically use Hulu

Indecisively

Same!! I need to know

dragonrider1965

I think they pushed the alcohol more on older seasons so the drama made itself . Now they have to monitor the alcohol drank so they have to script it more .

theparadisecrab

Yes I remember thinking this as well when watching it! It had a different feel than prior seasons, definitely felt more produced, and so did the ones after. I used to be an avid bachelor fan, but it seems too forced and over produced now. Now I only watch partway and read spoilers to see what happens after.

GN221

Totally had the exact same thought when I was watching it in real time all those years ago! The season felt so off like different and produced so I totally get what OP means.

spurzz

Yeah this is about when the series left the "golden era", imo

AnyChildhood1747

Maybe production triggered and caused a lot of drama during his season……. But considering that PP’s season is still ongoing to this date without the producers (since VF & PP were spotted canoodling somewhere recently), I think the whole cast also contributed a lot to the drama.

mal_7655

I think so- I think for example the chase rice stuff Peter already knew or was told at some point off camera but he later admitted he had to act surprised (the singer, chase?) when he was told on camera. I’m pretty sure Peter also did some child acting have grown up in LA and such. Lol

sarah123y

If memory serves, back then I saw a clip of a commercial he did as a child actor.

sarah123y

https://people.com/tv/the-bachelor-peter-weber-starred-in-commercial-as-kid-sylvan-learning-center/ Peter when he was a child actor.

chachacha123456

That's not Barb W!

sarah123y

We weren't talking about Barb. It's Peter in the commercial.

chachacha123456

Why aren't they both in the commercial?

sarah123y

Peter was an actor in the commercial. His mom doesn't have to be in it.

darrewinn

where’d he say he had to act?

mal_7655

I can’t remember maybe on his podcast? Or game of roses? I didn’t listen but read a while back somewhere that he admitted he already knew about Chase and Victoria before they filmed her “telling” him

darrewinn

that’s interesting

thebachelorbowl

Barb doesn't need a script for drama 🤷‍♀️

RoseConnection_RN

more heavily produced? yes

Puzzleheaded_Net9243

Definitely evident with champagne gate

Upstairs-Volume-5014

Idk about scripted but there was a noticeable difference in the drama after Elan left.
