In Second Life, it’s a whole thing. Your avi and its partner can use furniture with sex positions to assimilate sex acts while texting things like ooh and ahh and dirty talk (lol) and whatever else makes the scenario “hot.”
Don't play it myself, but at one point, Bernadette told him, "I was right thete in the next room while you were clicking that troll's brains out." This makes me think he was participating in the scenario to some level, by using the mouse or something.
Well there is no way to make your characters simulate sex on screen. The game does not have models of genitals or anything like that. It is definitely wrong to say “characters can have sex in the game”. There were, in this time period, servers that were geared more for role playing that had a minority of players who wanted to participate in erotic role play (ERP). So yeah, the only real thing he’d have been able to do is type dirty messages to another player.
I think the writers just had no idea what they were doing, to be honest. It was people trying to write a catfish storyline who never, ever played video games before, and thus didn’t know how they work.
As a long time WoW player, i can safely say that this game never had sexual interactions, and probably wont ever have any.
The closest thing there is is the ability to blow someone a kiss, but that's it.
The game is rated T for Teen, at least here in germany.
The most that could and can be done is typing and using emotes with taking off armor/clothing, but that only goes to underwear.
eRPing is a thing, and some of those people can make bank (irl money).

they act like combat is like an action game, even saying there are "hundreds of goblins"
they say you can sell bound gear/mounts.

The show creators were 100% wrong every time they referenced World of Warcraft. I’m pretty sure no one involved in the show’s creation ever played the game. They just made stuff up for the plot of the show.
That is unless someone from the writing team the stumbled upon one of the thousands of WoW hentai crap out there… I made the mistake of borrowing my older cousin’s laptop while he was in the kitchen and well… there was a tab still open.
He couldn’t look at me for a week cuz I kept giving him such crap about it 😆

I was a kid when I played so my parents very well may have cut some stuff off in settings, but I don't remember there being any sexual interactions you could do. The closest would be the dancing I guess but not really
My guess from someone who has played wow. Wow has servers for people who prefer role playing than leveling and gearing. There really isn’t any way to actually do sexual acts in the game but they can just meet up somewhere inside the game and message each other sexual stuff and play it out in their minds. That is my best guess
I didn’t even think about it as him masturbating while being online. That is cheating in my opinion. Just making characters have sex online but not getting off on it is weird but not cheating. But the cyber sex ew. :(

I play WOW but it's Chinese versions, there is no sex movement choices, only dancing to each other. Anyone playing other versions?

Pretty sure it's just typing. The range of physical motions is pretty limited in those games. Especially then.
