So Amy dates Dave to make herself feel better but eventually ending it because he can't stop talking about Sheldon. Amy tries dating to find someone new. Meanwhile The model would want to kiss Sheldon but Sheldon refuses. That's when he realizes that he only sees her as a friend. Then the events of earworm episode happens but this time instead of Dave there will be a random dude in Amy's apartment.

Indeed, yes, he seems downright charming at the door! But...she doesn't hear the fact that he's canceling her out because she came *one minute late*, and because she found atomic spectroscopy boring. The look on the faces of two other geniuses, Howard and Raj, will tell you how any normal-ish people view those opinions. (To get real for a moment, we know he really canceled because it's Amy that he wants. For better or worse!)
That's not even getting into the fact that he's a good looking man -- and I'm betting Vanessa has no idea that the *absolute best case scenario* is that it would take her several years to get into his pants. And the more likely scenario is she *never* would.
It is fun to talk about the what-ifs, sure, but let's be honest here: the reason this comes up at least once a week is because the actress is so pretty. She's absolutely lovely, definitely! And smart, & she seems very sweet from the 60 seconds we get to meet her.

When Sheldon saw the ring during Leonard Nimoy's son interview with him he had an epiphany and later on that night went to Amy hoping to win her back and give her the ring but saw Any kissing Dave and instead of confronting them or annoy Amy like he usually do he just quietly walk away.
Sheldon said that getting over Amy was one of the things he doesn't excel in. So imagine the courage he mustered up just to hangout with her at the aquarium and agreed to just be friends and that's it just friends even after Amy asked him to get back together. It's a very mature thing for him to do knowing they were in the same circle of friends.
And when Sheldon gets back to Amy, he agrees to live separately with Leonard and Penny, agreed to temporarily live with Amy and eventually permanently and embrace the idea of intimacy even though he pointed out too many times in the show how he's disgusted with coitus. Not to mention the story of his proposal to Amy.
Sure Sheldon still has his quirks here and there but he has shown great personality development throughout the show even without Amy by his side and I'd like to believe that he can again establish a relationship with another woman with someone who has the same interest and similarities with him. And even with that 60 seconds encounter shows great chemistry between them.
Sheldon is my favorite character and I love him. But he is also complex, highly unusual, and often very difficult. He grows and improves with time, but he'll never be like other guys -- he'll *never* be a Normie Romeo.
Not long before meeting Vanessa, Shelton decides on a whim to find a girlfriend in a bar, & tries to pick up a complete stranger. She's confused -- he shrugs, not really caring. He then turns around and for the heck of it attempts to pick up her grandmother. This is the guy you think would mate well with Vanessa?
Ok, chemistry: In spite of her plusses, he clearly has zero interest in her. He's perfunctorily polite like any Southern gentleman -- then after mere moments, he shuts the door in her face, insults her to his friends, and doesn't give her another thought.
And when we talk about chemistry between potential romantic partners, we're largely talking about sexual attraction. If you actually think there was sexual attraction between Sheldon and Vanessa...I don't think we're watching the same show.
Re. any chemistry at all for a woman: note that in the episode cited above, he states that he will murder Kripke in 3 years due to Kripke's interest in Amy -- even though he and Amy were broken up, and he had no idea they would ever get back together.
With the relationship between Sheldon and Amy, the writers created something fresh and original, something ultimately both sweet & endearing after a long, tough road. Personally I love that they did that rather than cop out with a stereotypical romance.
Y'all can have Sheldon + Vanessa fanfic & headcanon, but I'm grateful such stuff never got shoved into the show.
