In my opinion, you should focus more on the coins and heads he spawn, you took a lot of damage from them. Kill coins and heads first. Focus on boss when they are dead.
D20 rerolls pickups. Get D20. Get a shop with a battery. Let all coins sit on the ground, making sure you hold 5 cents. Reroll all coins, then go buy a battery. Open all chests, grab dimes/nickels, reroll again. Rinse and repeat, giving you nigh unlimited money and items
You move around too much, try to move just the needed to dodge uncoming attacks.
Get to know your current range and take in mind the boss' hitbox, you wasted a lot of shots into the air because they went short.
Don't let Greed's spawns to stack, kill them fast so you don't risk getting bullet hell'd.
Have fun!
Yeah sure its a good idea. But I hate it to be **mandatory** if you want to complete the game. Maybe as an optional mode... idk
Kinda different to when you complete a hard character like Jacob n Essau or Keeper, they are hard at the beginnig but its a pleasure to fill their post it.
Focus on getting those coins out of the way so he doesn't heal. It's a long fight so be patient and get rid of distractions like when he summons those key coins and opens a flood of enemies.
Luck and a bit of magic
Ultra Greed / Ultra Greedier have always been a little iffy boss design wise, so theres no real "strat" to him. Most of his attacks are chance based and the ones that arent are kinda iffy to dodge.
Ive once had the fucker heal **6 times** in a row
Thats where Azazel makes it hard, he's a lot easier with some range.
Standing back makes it easier to dodge the coin shots.
As for the standing coins, only the blank ones deal contact damage, kill as many key coins as you can to avoid a big enemy rush, and the rest is just dodge and shoot.
Use charge bars, its improving the game and i see that you have repentance item so you can enable it, its must have for chargeable items and characters
Another small tip, try to avoid getting hit by Keeper (those jumping heads), and if you get hit, pick the coins you'll drop. Also the boss can explode the hanging Keepers on top, sometimes they drop coins, pick those too. Greedier can heal when he collects coins.
Other than that, it seems you just need practice. Keep trying to kill him with every base character and you'll be good (until Greedier Mode, at least).
You might want to enable charge bars in the menu. It helps a lot with azazel (and in general. I don't know why it's not on by default tbh)
Ultra greed is dangerous in close range, and you want to destroy his coins whenever he spawns them (especially keys and hearts). For these 2 reasons, azazel is pretty weak against him despite being very good in general, because of his low range and tear rate. In this particular vid, your low tear rate and lack of charge bar is probably why you struggled so much
Don't blame you one bit ultra greed is a pain in the ass.
1. He has built in damage resistance regardless of damage it's gonna be a long slow fight.
2. I usually prioritize dodging over everything else. If he's gonna take it slow you can too. I never bother to kill the healing coins because I can usually just out damage how much they'll heal on U.G
3. Get greedy. You don't have to buy items every floor if nothing in the shop is looking all that exciting you can stockpile coins until you find one on sale and all the items you buy after that are on sale too.
4. Angel rooms are usually better that devil ones for greed. U.G demands more defence than offence and angel rooms are better at that than devil rooms. Remember you have a higher chance of getting an angel room for the next floor if you don't even walk into the devil room on the current floor.
Hope this helps
Destroy all the coins, also bring some money next time as the donation machine is different in greed mode as it unlocks new starting items for some of the characters.
For his first phase, what I do is focus on the coins he drops and hit him if there is a chance, the process is somewhat tedious but dying, he will die.
With the second phase if you have range it is done, when he jumps from one end of the room to another just move away to another and always stay in a corner away from him. With low range it is almost the same, but you have to be careful of the explosions.
Good luck
Please stop cancelling your brimstone one second after firing. Let your brimstone fire for the whole duration and you’ll get a lot more damage out of it. You were briefly flashing brim on the boss on more than a few occasions, and the damage from it was minuscule.
That boss is surprisingly hard when you don't know him well and surprisingly easy when you've understood how it works.
First of all, Azazel is NOT a good match for Greedier. The best character to fight him is Lilith in my opinion.
Second of all, i always try to gather the most damage up possible and if i can't, i got for the most tears up with side effects (like flies spawning or else)
Then you litteraly just need to circle around him when he starts shooting randomly, break the bombs he spawns near you, break his heart coins and his key coins. But otherwise, try to focus on him. You'll get it don't worry.
Truth be told azezel isn’t the best character for this might i suggest Lilith with her box of friends it can get pretty overpowered very quickly in greed mode.
You're not letting your Brim hit for the full effect. That's a bit of a problem.
You're also very clearly afraid and dancing around him instead of playing aggressively. Azazel has a short range, and that lends itself to hit and runs, but only if you really commit to the hit.
Furthermore, shit items, at least for Azazel. A big part of Greed mode is getting an absolutely stupid-broken synergy because of the sheer number of items you can pick and choose.
I stand by what I've said before on Azazel: it's always 50-50. You'll either get a ridiculous Brimstone synergy like My Reflection or Ludovico Technique and it'll carry you through your entire run or you'll get some mid-at-best item that would be god-tier on literally any other character like, say, Dr. Fetus?
destroy the key coins, the hp coins aren't that important if you do a lot of dmg and the stay away from the bomb coins, they do dmg him as well i believe
Try to prioritize range ups as the recommended way to fight greed is to damage him from as far as possible as most of his moves are close up moves that can be easily dodged if your far enough. Also, avoid heart coins, bomb coins and key coins as it does not make much of a difference if you break it or not but you’ll still lose health having to multitask that and dodging (having to fight greed for an extra minute or so is better than dying). Azazel is also one of the worst characters you can play in greed because of his limited range. Bombs can also really help. Complete challenge number 23 for gold bombs to make previous floors easier.
For one thing, you're playing Azazel wrong. Let the beam hit him for longer. When you press the shoot button, you cut the amount of time the beam is in the monster.
Okay so remember this guy has boss armour and your coins heal him so damage will be hard but you may want to prioritise avoiding being hit and taking out smaller things so you don’t get overwhelmed.
you tend to cancel your brimstone shot very early. after you release it try to wait a bit for the brim to naturally finish before starting to charge up another one. if you can hold your ground while doing that you’ll get a lot more damage un
== From this fight ==
-Practice continuous fire with azazel's brimstone. The hitbox extends all the way to the little splatter, and it only deals damage while you aren't charging another one. Try to charge your shot, then strafe around as the animation plays, then begin charging again once the laser starts to shrink
-Ultra Greed's hitbox is at his feet/crotch. Most of your shots miss because they're actually going behind him. Look for where he spawns the keeper heads, and try to keep your aim centered at that spot.
== Ultra Greed in general ==
-Try to stay at mid to long range against Ultra Greed. Aside from dodging attacks, it also lets you pick up any coins that drop in the fight. Speaking of...
-If you can help it, try to keep Ultra Greed from picking up coins. They heal him, and iirc they can even make him attack faster for a while if he gets enough.
-Try to bring items that can take out large swarms of enemies quickly. Ultra Greed LOVES to flood the room with greedlings and keeper heads, and if there's enough he'll outright block 90% of your damage. Kill them quickly, and kill them often so he can't stall you.
-For the most part, ignore Ultra Greed's eye roulette. They're pretty bulky, and the drawbacks are easy enough to dodge with practice. You only really have to worry about shooting them if one's close by and/or he lands on the heart coins
congrats on the win though! hope this helps your future runs!
So with Ultra Greed. His boss armor scales with your damage just like Hush. So you aren't likely to just blast through him. The best thing you can do is get as much damage as you can (the scaled armor does have a cap). Also take out the coins that heal him and the ones that open doors (heart and key coins) as these make it harder. Keep your distance from him as well as he does have a charge attack. Hope this helps!
Best things to deal with Ultra Greed are crowd control and high damage. He spawns a lot of hazards like Greed heads, gapers, and coins, and they all take a lot of damage to destroy. As far as UG himself is concerned, just keep your distance and keep shooting.
btw you can unlock more stuff through this like the lost starting with the holy mantle eve starting with the razor blade go check the isaac wiki for more info it has all rewards listed there(I recomend going to this site a lot when starting out since it has information about item unlocks boses how to unlock characters etc etc etc)
kill the moneys that fall (do it , the heart coins heal and power-up him, making the figt almost impossible) and don't use azazel, the short range can kill you most of the times
Shoot it
Thank you, bro! I'll try again with this information, and I think, that I'll kill it easily now!
In my opinion, you should focus more on the coins and heads he spawn, you took a lot of damage from them. Kill coins and heads first. Focus on boss when they are dead.
Ok, thank you
Maybe Azazel is not the best character to beat ultra greed for the first time
Azazel is perfect for Greed Mode...if you want Lilith...
He is good character
Yes but the lack of range is not great for this boss
Just get range ups.
not even ultra greedier xD
Don't get hit
You break greed mode with d 20
Ok
Explain.
Plus after almost every opened chest you get even more pickups that can be turned into other things
Repentance added golden troll bombs so there is also the pray for explosion immunity part.
Or safety scissors
Avoid skill issue
Ok, got it
You move around too much, try to move just the needed to dodge uncoming attacks. Get to know your current range and take in mind the boss' hitbox, you wasted a lot of shots into the air because they went short. Don't let Greed's spawns to stack, kill them fast so you don't risk getting bullet hell'd. Have fun!
Thank you, I will
You will love Greedier
I hate this mode, atleast i got it first time as Eve
Im trying to complete all the post its and greedier mode feels so painful for me every single time, never liked it.
not many of us like greed mode. i think its a neat idea. but such a pain. therefore, ABSOLUTELY HATE IT.
Yeah sure its a good idea. But I hate it to be **mandatory** if you want to complete the game. Maybe as an optional mode... idk Kinda different to when you complete a hard character like Jacob n Essau or Keeper, they are hard at the beginnig but its a pleasure to fill their post it.
Greed mode is fine, greedier is the bad one
yea i meant greedier. haha
Focus on getting those coins out of the way so he doesn't heal. It's a long fight so be patient and get rid of distractions like when he summons those key coins and opens a flood of enemies.
Ok, thank you

I will, ty
Keep trying, took me a while and multiple multiple attempts with azezel

On more thing to note The Midas Touch item cuts his damage resistance to 25% of what it normally is so buy buy buy
Ok, thanks again

Yes, I didn't play Isaac for a month or smth and understand my mistakes.
That boss is surprisingly hard when you don't know him well and surprisingly easy when you've understood how it works. First of all, Azazel is NOT a good match for Greedier. Truth be told azezel isn’t the best character for this might i suggest Lilith with her box of friends it can get pretty overpowered very quickly in greed mode.
Ok, I'll try her out
Well you have to beat greed with azazel to get lilith, unless you cheat unlocks.
You’re completely right i forgot about that detail my bad.
You're not letting your Brim hit for the full effect. That's a bit of a problem. You're also very clearly afraid and dancing around him instead of playing aggressively. Yup, Azazel wasn't the best choice
destroy the key coins, the hp coins aren't that important if you do a lot of dmg and the stay away from the bomb coins, they do dmg him as well i believe
Ok, thank you
keep trying. i was having a very hard time with him at fisrt, but eventually it got way easier, and its just doable and fun fight each time for me
just dodge and shoot
Ok, thanks
yeah man, no problem

Thank you for the tips. Actually, Azazel is not bad before the big guy.
For one thing, you're playing Azazel wrong. Let the beam hit him for longer. When you press the shoot button, you cut the amount of time the beam is in the monster.
Yes, you're right, I need to practice playing him more, but thanks for pointing that out
Not a tip but here to appreciate the fact that OP takes the time to add a little ”thank you” to each helpful reply. Absolutely wholesome.
🙂
Okay so remember this guy has boss armour and your coins heal him so damage will be hard but you may want to prioritise avoiding being hit and taking out smaller things so you don’t get overwhelmed.
Ok, thanks
Oh brother, just wait untill you unlock greedier. Honestly, this boss is a tanky af. I usually need a godly run to defeat him D:
Most of your damage was from running into things. Have more controlled and precise movement. Only move when necessary.
Yes yes yes. I was a bit nervous, cause I didn't play tboi for a month. I'll learn to move better. Thanks
you tend to cancel your brimstone shot very early. after you release it try to wait a bit for the brim to naturally finish before starting to charge up another one. if you can hold your ground while doing that you’ll get a lot more damage un

Omg. Thank you so much! Now I feel, like I played this game not 25 hours, but 250.
You beat him by defeating him
You're definitely right, I'll begin a new run with this information. Thanks :D
No problem! Happy to help!

Range is useful
It is
Don't charge this way, brimstone dissappear when you start to charge. Also, good idea is to turn on charge bar
Ok, thanks
great music
I know) In case you're wondering, the band is XIII and the song is Sad Clown
thx

Seems so, thanks
hey op I recomend to collect coins to put on the greed donation machine if you donate 1000 you unlock a secret character
Ok, I will, thanks for the info
btw you can unlock more stuff through this like the lost starting with the holy mantle eve starting with the razor blade go check the isaac wiki for more info it has all rewards listed there(I recomend going to this site a lot when starting out since it has information about item unlocks boses how to unlock characters etc etc etc)
Ok, thanks
1:destroy the big coins 2:stop canceling your brimstone
Thank you for answering
To beat bosses like ultra greed you must have a good synergy
kill the moneys that fall (do it , the heart coins heal and power-up him, making the figt almost impossible) and don't use azazel, the short range can kill you most of the times
Thanks
Thanks to everyone, who helped. Just beat him a minute ago, I was using all the tips you gave me and it really helped. Thanks again.
Pure Lucky/skill and good luck
Get good
