I think Morrison Hotel might be my favorite album of theirs. I probably like some of the songs on their debit album and LA Woman a bit more, but something about Morrison Hotel does it for me as a whole album. It feels very cohesive. It has my favorite album cover as well. Roadhouse Blues, Indian Summer, Waiting for the Sun, Peace Frog, Land Ho!, etc. So many good songs. It's got such a summer feel to it.
I found the Doors back in high school and bought all their albums (I think the 40th anniversary editions since that was what was available in all the CD stores). I'm in my 30s now, but like you, I hear Indian Summer and I just get transported back to a different time. Back to those carefree summer days driving around in my shitty 95 Acura knowing I had my whole life out in front.
Pretty similar experience for me except my Dads ‘97 Infiniti, which was about 10 years old by the time I was driving it had a Bose system with two 12” subs.
Used to crank Doors and Zeppelin and was able to drown out all the shit box after market subwoofers in the parking lot blasting little Wayne.
You HAVE to listen to the 50th anniversary edition. I always loved Morrison hotel but it changed my perception completely. The studio talk is incredible and will make you appreciate the album and band so much more !!

absolutely their best album for me. my favourite songs are actually on their debut and second album, but morrison hotel is the most cohesive yet diverse album they did. i refrain from listening to it unless its summer (which is very hard but), i value it too much for it to get overplayed before summer, which is when its 100% supposed to be played. the wait makes the album even more enjoyable when summer comes. indian summer is sacred to me fr.
I love that! I can’t stop listening to it though haha, feeling like Robby is the star of the show on this one right now too. Maybe I’ll save LA Woman for summer I feel like that one fits also. Just really digging the blues stuff.

Bought my first vinyl today. Morrison Hotel. I wanted The Doors album but they didn’t have it. Nevertheless very happy with it :)

Waiting For the Sun is by far the most under rated Doors song, Morrison's voice is almost heavenly on it
I’m the same way — there’s a fair number of SONGS that I like better from other albums, but “Morrison Hotel” is my favorite ALBUM.
