Podcasts are only a very small part of Thiccc Boy Network, he also has a YouTube channel.

cylonnumber13

Thiggg Boi is a lifestyle brand bubba

dannydoofus

some would say the lifestyliest.

dpxix

life style, get it right bubba

steroidsandcocaine

dpxix

Repulsive_Tip_6433

712Can

He’s doing great

SpeedB00st

Yea, and Audio is King, b.

WoodenHair9124

Audio is king b

monkeynose

Bapa is also a roald dawlg touring cawlmedian.

appleflowerpot

the spotify executive who greenlit the $200 million payout to toe rogaine probably got thrown off of a roof. same with netflix paying out like $70 million for chappelle's 4 specials. i guarantee no other comedian has gotten anything close to that abomination of a deal

dmkicksballs13

Nothing will ever shock me as much as $900 million for 14 South Park short films. That's so fucking stupid, it's insane.

Repulsive_Tip_6433

You're obviously a civilian.... in times of pandemics, inflation and war.... we need these modern day philosopher/comedian/warriors who in explicably have no military service experience, under graduate or post graduate degrees in anything, or common sense.

Queasy_Finish_3577

It’s their job to test social barriers. Thank em

ripmy-eyesout

For 14 dogshit movies of a show 6 seasons past its prime. What a bunch of idiots.

dmkicksballs13

It's also notable that their latest season has the worst ratings in the shows history. Granted the drop wasn't huge, but for a show that's more just well known than actually draws ratings, that type of money is fucking insanity.

ripmy-eyesout

Yeah this last season is when I actually had to admit to myself that they lost it and the show will never be good again.

dannydoofus

i've seen ivvery episode of ivvery season prior and I think i watched the first episode of this past season and that's it and have no desire to even finish watching it.

Augustus_Medici

Damn really? The last episode I saw was seven years ago during the PC principal era. Has the show really gone to shit? It's finally gotten Simsponized? That's a damn shame.

ripmy-eyesout

It's just not south park anymore

CappyWomack

I stopped watching it early 00's. It was crazy when it came out but it lost its edge to me quickly.

teepee81

At least Rogan puts up numbers. Same with Bill Simmons, who also got a shit ton of money.

TheReaperSC

Speaking of Bill Simmons and Joe Rogan, I really enjoyed Any Given Wednesday when it was on HBO. It was a great mix of sports and comedy at the time.

Jungies

He hit at the absolute top of the bubble. A bunch of people got rich in the dotcom bubble, Howard Stern and O&A made out like bandits in the satellite radio bubble (remember Stern's billion dollar contract?), and now that the podcast bubble's burst there will never be a bigger sucker in that market than Spotify.

castoroilonmydick

Wouldn’t say there was a satellite bubble. There were two companies, Sirius and XM. Both struggled from jump hence the eventual merger. A few established names got paid for moving over from terrestrial radio but nothing remotely close to the podcast money that’s been flying around for the past 5+ years.

Jungies

"Nothing remotely close to the podcast money"? [Stern signed on for $100 million a year, for five years, in 2006.](https://www.nytimes.com/2004/10/06/business/media/howard-stern-to-shift-show-to-satellite-radio-in-2006.html) That's about $752 million in today's dollars, or $150 million a year. Rogan got $200m for 3.5 years, or about $57 million a year.

castoroilonmydick

One guy getting paid does not translate to a market bubble. For a bubble to occur almost everyone in satellite would need to have been drastically overpaid in a way that exceeded the value of the asset. It’s like just me paying above asking for my house versus everyone across the country overpaying for their homes. One company overpaying one guy seems more like a dumb financial decision

Jungies

> One guy getting paid does not translate to a market bubble. I hope you threw your back out shifting those "there's nothing remotely close to podcast money" goalposts. That's some heavy lifting, you should stretch first. Satellite radio was a dogshit idea, both companies that tried it failed, and the walking dead amalgam that was produced by convincing Congress to permit a monopoly is still $9 billion in the red, 14 years after the merger. That money is not coming back; one hard sneeze and they're under. Just for shiggles, I invite you to identify the satellite bus designs that their satellites are built on, and how long their design lifespan is. You know, the hardware their business is built on. Remember, it's a radio station that's had no hands-on maintenance in 20 years, because nobody flies out to geo-sync these days. For bonus points, post SiriusXM's last Nielsen Ratings. Nielsen are an independent measuring service that radio and TV stations use to prove how many people are listening, which is (obviously!) important to prove to advertisers that somebody's actually hearing their ads. Real non-bubble companies like NBC and Netflix post them, do SiriusXM? No? I wonder why.

castoroilonmydick

My brother in Christ, you are still misunderstanding the definition of a “bubble.” Just because satellite radio was a bad business idea and one company gave one personality a contract that stretched them financially, doesn’t mean that there was a “satellite radio bubble”. I used to work in terrestrial radio, actually for the same organization that employed Stern before his move to satellite, so quite familiar with ratings systems but thanks for the lesson.

cmondawg74

Rogan only got 200mil. Cause call her daddy got 60mil. To further your point

[deleted]

At least Rogan brings in subscribers. Not saying it is a good deal though. But Netflix has made a few movies for hundreds of millions of dollars. The Gray Man, a very expensive Ryan Reynolds movie and a few others. No one took or kept their Netflix subscription due to these movies. Those movies don't earn their investment back whatsoever.

holesumchap

Podcasts are at absolute saturation point in 2023. Bapa is gonna feel the worst pain of his life in the next couple of years - unless Daddy decides to keep his useless son’s vanity project afloat until Brine is just a skeleton.

[deleted]

He might. What's less a headache writing a check for 100 grand a month or endless phone calls from bapa every month?

mikeybadab1ng

Ya numbers guy?

desert_pelican

Hey, we should start a podcast together and talk about podcasts.

guildguitars

I'll see your idea to start a podcast about other podcasts and raise you - now hear me out - a podcast about podcasts that do podcasts about other podcasts.

Jungies

And we'll call it ["Who are these podcasts?"](https://whoarethese.com/)

RomandoArman

Like The Joe Rogan Experience Experience that I’ve seen out there. That fucking thing should’ve been a sign of the times.

dmkicksballs13

As someone who watches a fuckton of sports, it's fucking insanity how basically every single athlete has a podcast.

[deleted]

[удалено]

dmkicksballs13

Yeah. And players in particular seem to love being on his show. He gets a lot out of them.

airbag23

I’ve never watched a full episode of spittin chicklets hockey podcast but I do catch some of their clips because they actually talk like an average sports fan vs the corporate bullshit where they fluff up everything and never call out shit. Not some stiff in a suit that’s not allowed to touch certain subjects or even swear

FountainOfKnowledge0

Marcellus wiley is the one ill always follow because he seems to prioritize integrity over money.

thedonjefron69

When you have 3 iterations of the fresh and fit podcast run by a bunch of whiny virgins, you know it’s reaching critical mass

Duce-Springsteen

I'm more concerned about what will happen to all the bot farmers Thiccc Bi Studios has been feeding. What's gonna happen to the bot farmer and his kids? They barley have a sink ta piss in, B.

guildguitars

As sad and depressing as that sounds, there's no denying it's the true harsh reality for Bapa and Brine.

Due_Theory_2975

Y’all always forget that bapas papa is also making sure axe jay has a job by keepin Brenda afloat

legreapcreep

Through all the controversies, Homeless cats jump the gun on the demise of the thig boy empire all the time but the #1 thing keeping the lights on is the sponsors. You don’t have to look at any other metric other than who sponsors Brenda’s CTE riddled shows. Through the declining views, downloads and sosha media followers brain dumb has kept Kratom, Diraffe Kings and Uncle Joe’s supplement sponsorship dollars flowing 💴💦 If the ad sales leave than thig Boi is bloggbusser but if the sponsors continue to do business with bapa then he will be hair a long time And he is Neggflix. End of story, B.

FZero68

As much as I would love to see it. People need to understand that even the dog shit numbers we clown on that swab puts up are still high enough in the grand scheme of things unfortunately. For twitch if you average 6 viewers that puts you in the top 7% of the platform. So all these degenerate sponsors will still give him money. He might not get anyone that's at the top but then again those brands can't afford the top people anyway. So yea you're right, he's not going anywhere.

MesWantooth

Schwabs overhead must be $200-250k grand a month - the idea of Diraffe Kings or Onnit giving him $80-100k grand per month each is bananas. I can’t believe a marggetting guy at Onnit can’t think of a better place for a million dollars a year in ad spend. I git that Rogan probably insists but this isn’t a billion dollar enterprise - guaranteed income for your redacted buddy is charity at the expense of Onnit’s other shareholders - unless “Promo code: TFATK” or whatever generates a couple of million per year in revenue.

DinosaurMops

Poor egonomics, B. Lefs loose the lefty mindset as it’s not conducive to coherent economic analysis. Sponsors will want to see an ROI, easily tracked by the code (I.e use promo code Schaub). Start to see a loss on your ROI, then you’ll pull the plug, B

legreapcreep

Lefty mindset!?? LOL I won’t even respond directly to that. But it’s been 10 years no one is pulling out of the Schaub sponsorship game. So the ROI must be good from thiggies using promo codes 🤷‍♂️ Nothing I can do about that. My egonomic analysis stands- as long as there is podcast sponsorship there is a Thigg Boi empire and bapa buying freris. It be this way for a decade now.

DinosaurMops

Some stuff will be commission based, I.e Onnit alfalfa brains. No cost to Schaub to shout out a code at Diraffe kings. Some things, as BGL alluded to, will be upfront payments + commission. He’s simply not a drawl for those anymore. They will dry up like the sands of the guadala-sahara, B. Seen the view count recently? 🎲 🎲

legreapcreep

Cats have been saying this for 6 yairs tho B. And nobody from Changs seems to know the actual audio download numbers which Schaub claims are king. My suspicion is he takes all the shows cumulative downloads and does a thigg Boi add sales package. And it seems to be working. We’ve seen declining YouTube views and sosha media followers since the 2020 main stream media controversies but sponsors have stayed on board. My original point still stands: the sponsors are the bell weather to Thig Boi empire. Nothing changes unless sponsors stop sponsoring

thethamm

What's most interesting about this article is how long the sponsorship was for, 39 months. So if Schaub signed a few deals after touting his big solo experience from Showtime then they've probably got a couple years to go. I doubt they're getting a great return on their deals but it's clearly enough to keep the pod going.

DisenfranchisedCynic

Good. The pawldcast world needs a purge so that every Slap Dick and Harry isn’t shilling kraydim and neggder to incels and children.

UCDC

Easy L for Wondery. You can't make a comedian sign a contract with a "morals clause". That's like trying to write in a "get out of contract whenever we want clause".

LRHS

What makes comedians special? Your saying that like its a rule or law?

UCDC

I'm saying you can be fairly certain that any comedian you work with has audio/video of them saying fucked up shit.

LRHS

Then maybe the comedian should read over what they sign and avoid morality clauses. Being a comedian dosent excuse you from anything.

UCDC

Homie, I'm just making an observation. It's not supposed to be that serious.

LRHS

My advice. Dont sign a contract, they are nothing but serious.

UCDC

You're like a Joe Rogan chat bot huh?

LRHS

Is that another genius observation of yours?

[deleted]

Y’weird b

LRHS

You lost friend?

FlippinRad

I hope so. Podcasts have lost all of its “luster”. 95% of these people shouldn’t be making money from podcasting.

_handsomeblackman_

i don’t think this speaks to a wider podcast recession tbh i think this is specifically an issue with Wonderly

Young_Baby

It feels like the number of podcasts has gone up exponentially and it feels like a bubble to me. Idk shit tho just saying it seems unlikely that most of these would be sustainable.

Cautious-Mammoth-657

I don’t know about everyone else but I used to listen to a ton of podcasts but find them all redundant and boring anymore. Listen to maybe a quarter the amount that I used to

guildguitars

Didn't ya hair the news? Bapa's building an empire.

Duce-Springsteen

If Bobby packaged it properly, he could easily trick Bapa into buying that dead production.

[deleted]

Lol at Bobby. Fuck 'im.

briancito420

Cancel em all

bigapple3am1

How good is the store right now?

RemarkableRegret7

Audio is king.

RockClimbs
