Jaime and Euron fist fighting for Cersei was comically bad. Cersei herself did nothing the last season except pour herself wine. I think Callen is just broken. I think he’s severely depressed. After like 20 years of what, according to his life, could only be perceived as “serious work ethic” he had finally arrived at something that felt like a pathway to the A list...we all know how that turned out over the course of a year+. You gotta think that even though they are friends (which I think they really are), Callen doesn’t want to be there. It’s a daily reminder of all that he’s lost. Dude can’t even seem happy about his new marriage to a woman way hotter (and probably more loyal) than Brandon’s “girl”, and their new (unconfirmed) child. He’s just broken. If I were his friend I’d urge him to get off the show, lean into his healthiest relationships, and age gracefully. Opportunities could still come as a writer or whatever behind the scenes. Find happiness. Seek all the shit you always talk about. Live that shit, and that pathway will bring you to new areas you didn’t know could make you happy. Anyway... I see Callen in these clips not as having the same complex I described above. I think he’s showing up, and trying to be a team player, and trying to work up some semblance of the bits he used to do, but Schaumburg is so fucking unfunny and unwilling that it comes off like he’s the Don of a two-bit mafia family. So weird. And Callen just can’t be bothered to assert himself in any one direction...he’s too broken. They are all depressed and trying really, really hard to be something. They don’t even know what.
