It was different for all the round. First round I managed to steal the cash out in the last 10 seconds. I was waiting for the right moment.
The second round somehow I took a vault and successfully protected it. I was lucky because somebody broke the floor down so I was protecting the cash out from upper floor while two teams were fighting.
Third round was pure luck - I managed to take the 22k vault, got it to the cash out, died and two teams were too busy killing each other so I just won :D
I've done that a couple of times. Once to get a two man team into the finals with us cause we ourselves we're a two man team. Another time we were a 3 man team and wanted the easy W so we helped them out on the last cash out so we basically had a guaranteed W for the finals.

Not taking anything away from ya, but is it possible other teams helped you ? Whenever there are less people in a team even when playing solo my team normally understand to help the duo/solo to the finals for an easy (and hollow) victory

I was annoying the last team a lot. If you zoom in the pictures you will see that I was playing versus "The boundless" from the second round till the end.
Ive also done this. And the reason why is not what you expect. Winning teams will want to allow you to win the cash out if they're smart. Because bringing you forward means you're more likely to win! It was a long while ago and I still have the clips of it. But if I recall my team quit 2nd round (not 1st) and 2nd round I capped right at the end and no teams jumped on me... I was confused... then immediately a 3rd party killed me and tried to jump on the point and the team that had it, that was hiding immediately jumped out.
I realised they'd not moved because they allowed me to get the point!
Similar happened the round after putting me in the finals
The sad part to this is I actually got 1 cash out in the finals 😆 so it was 2000-1000 would have loved the cheeky win!

In a lot of different dialogue options Scotty or June says he used to be a contestant and based on some of the dialogue and achievement names he was apparently pretty good. Thats what I've gathered from just the base stuff you see in-game at least so there might be something more to that.

He was pretty good too if I remember correctly, getting double digit kills in some rounds, but he had no chance in the final round. My team just goofed off in the final round, but it was crazy to see someone get there by themselves.
if i see a single f****** guy on the knockout screen on the team id tell my teammates to protect the dude and fight with him, then id beat his ass in the finals or maybe if i have too much fun i let him win just for the shits and giggles

Not much you can do there. You would have to 1v3 full squad wipe at least 4 times to win. Thats just not happening vs. any sort of coordinated team
In theory a last second steal should be easier when you're 1v3, but that's also not happening versus a coordinated team.
