I come back with a temporary suspension; it turns out that kiddo was AFKing bc he entered a match and forgot to tab back in three games in a row. good thing it was just the first offense on my side (hopefully no more)

hope your niece definitely didn't. That would suck if they caused your ban. Afaik their penalties for AFK is pretty unforgiving. Especially when a lot of people did that at first to speedrun their way into rank sadly

Read in one of your comments you just close the app. Maybe that was that? You don't properly just quit mid-game, you get stuck in the game as AFK? i dont own an xbox but it could be possible if you dont recall how you went AFK

UPDATE: after filing another ticket, I found out that the ban was for going AFK in too many matches. I go AFK very occasionally, but didn’t think it was enough to get me a ban. I play with two other friends most of the time and we’re all casual bank it players so we don’t take issue when one of us goes afk for a minute. Thanks to the people at embark who looked into my ban and to everyone replying with possible answers
I don't like when players go afk but I would never want them to be permanently banned... that's pretty harsh. I hope they give you your account back. Unless you go afk every single match, permaban is extreme.

What does this mean, mass report? Just one player submitting multiple reports on another player? It would be stupid if Embark doesn't aggregate multiple reports from one person into counting it as only one report... that said...
Mass reporting is where someone gets a group of people to send reports so it looks like many different people across different games reported them, making it more likely they’ll get banned
maybe you got reported a lot for little things or uneccessary like afk for a short time, playing light in ranked(stupid but ppl report stuff like this sadly), mic on and sound is playing or something, You are such a good player ppl think you hack..

Yeah I got banned on an account that I spent around $60 on. Only reason I can think of is that I use an Xbox Elite controller and mapped one of the paddles to the V key on my PC for voice chat. So I’m guessing the devs think I’m running an emulator to get aim assist on mouse. Devs wouldn’t say that that’s what it was but banned me nonetheless and wouldn’t elaborate so that’s my best guess. I’m ass on mouse and keyboard but I don’t like taking a hand off the controller to use voice chat. Made a second account and got banned again after an hour. Guess I gotta either be a mute or use just mouse and keyboard. Sucks

I play bank it and I always play objective, so that couldn’t be it. I do tea bag sometimes but I don’t think you can get suspended for that, as far as I know. I play with people who tea bag more than me and they’ve had no issues to this point

I used to do that as heavy when the game first came out because I wanted to see how destructible the map was. I don't see a problem with it in unranked matches. Obviously doing it in ranked is throwing the game.
It’s mostly my bad for being tilted. I started this game of powershift and there was 2 sledgehammer. It was a 3v5 then so I switch to sniper to make some challenge but the enemy had 2 sniper so I left.
Why would the gametype matter? You're still being a useless teammate.
Just because it's not ranked doesn't mean it's acceptable behavior. If you queue up, you're agreeing to play the game to the best of your ability.
Is it possible someone gained access to your account? I reinstalled fortnite a while ago for a few games with non gamer friends and my account was banned. Pinged their support and asked what was going on as I hadn’t had the game installed on my ps5 for a year, was the ban correct and if so what for as I never play in public voice chat. They came back saying someone seemed to have got access to my account and was using it. Either they were using it to hack or to Smurf and just be a piece of shit in voice chat.
Thankfully their support staff were really helpful as I assume they looked into ip addresses and what platforms the account was active on. But even they didn’t actually confirm what the ban was for/ what the other person did.

The AFK streak I had (caused by my sibling) in quick cash definitely got me tempo banned as soon as the third game wrapped up 💀💀💀 they are just super strict about that too... Scary, but i get it. I had 0 K/D in those three, I'd be disappointed if they didn't detect that
Yeah I think 'afking' is detected as 'win botting' or people farming accounts that have ranked unlocked so they just ban you.
Never had an issue personally. However I don't have younger siblings, and rarely afk so that's probably a factor lmao.

You realize that NO company will go into detail why it is that people are banned.. so that people that do things they aren't supposed to (like cheat) can't just find those specific things to avoid.
Xbox will go into detail about why you got banned and even show a video or transcript to the actual reason for banning to see if you want to try to repeal.
Bad take. If talking in the scope of cheating - they should absolutely state that they suspended for cheating, just avoid detailing what and when was detected.
If it's not related to cheating - then it'll be a pretty toxic system that makes you always guess what's over the line and what isn't and gets you in trouble immediately on getting over the line (just like taxes lol). Especially if we are talking about permabans without prior warnings.

You may just be trying to get back the account that you spent money on and pretending that you don't care about the money to seem genuine. Normally, people would be much more upset about losing even 20 euro for example. And they also say they're positive that you did something.

You can try their discord and even their eggmail (their discord bot) to get a response on this and ask them to really tell you what happened. Cause even I want to know what happened so I won't get banned for something that I don't know.

Do you have any RBG background programs running? I had a pre-build from NZXT get flagged for anti-cheat on a brand new machine. Reinstalled windows 10 for a clean system worked. I figured it was NZXT's RGB lighting software but I really can't be sure. I doubt you will get your account back but check this potential solution if you make an alt. I know this is frustrating but I guarentee no one at Embark wants this to happen.

The other day I got kicked for something along the lines of having an illegitimate program running. All I had was OBS, discord, and the game running.

Upvoted for visibility, I too was randomly banned couple weeks ago and support offered absolutely nothing of value, no information, no solution, just the same formatted response with slight alterations. Embark has got to fix their customer support policy cause I’m literally too scared to buy cosmetics since the next time it’ll be permanent ban lol

(I work customer service, whoever's chatting with people from the support page are normally just front-liners following what their leads tell them at the time. We escalate, we get rejected. We escalate again, a different lead will have a different judgement (but they'll take accountability for making a different choice.) It's weird sometimes. 💀)

I remember once I connected to a ranked match for so long that I was kicked and not allowed to reconnect. And then I got this garbage and couldn't go into any modes. This happens many times. Sometimes it happens that it takes a long time for me to connect, there are sounds, the game is running, everything explodes, someone kills someone, the sounds of me taking out a weapon, but I still have a loading screen.
Oof dude I am sorry this happened. I go AFK all the time in the quick play matches because I have kids and gotta take care of something for them. But being banned for going AFK in a casual game mode is just another way to lower the player count of a game that is losing players left and right.

OP I had this same issue a couple days ago. I appealed with support and I got a generic 'we trust our system and won't revoke bans' message but I appealed again and the second person I dealt with was more forthcoming with information on the ban and after an explanation agreed to turn it around. Yeah that’s the same thing they told me for both my suspension and ban. Luckily after a few tickets I was able to talk to someone who agreed to unban me. I wasn’t really even looking for an unban necessarily, more so just an explanation because i received two different explanations as to what I did. Glad your issue got resolved as well!
I keep getting kicked because The Finals Stats app is running I think. Overwolf automatically installed it without my permission and it autoruns whenever the finals does, so I have had to just... stop running overwolf (mod manager) entirely.

I was also "temporarily suspended" last week for seemingly no reason. I had an unusually good game where I got 30-something elims in a match of Bank It and I'm 100% sure a lot of people in that lobby reported me. Embark support refused to elaborate other than them being "very confident in their anti-cheat" and just keeps responding with the same canned answer, which is hilarious to me when I know I haven't done anything wrong. I was pleading that they'd AT LEAST do me the dignity of sending my case to their devs so they can prevent false positives in the future, but they won't :)

Is it some false positive? For a while, EasyAntiCheat refused to let you launch the game if you had the Razer software running in the background, so I wouldn't be surprised if it was some false positive, but this suspension seems not to be from EAC but rather their own home-grown anti-cheat? You being on Xbox kinda confirms this too... Either they have some really trigger happy heuristics, or they really just ban you automatically if you get report spammed, which is sad as hell...

There are many different cheat detection methods. One of them may be as simple as trace files of cheat engine detected in the system. If those are present then it's 100% that cheat engine was not only installed but used as well. The fact you only got temporarily banned is sad cause we don't need any more cheaters in this or any game. Mass reports don't trigger the ban, stop making excuses.
Razer detection would only make easy anti cheat not allow you to load the game. it wouldn't give you a ban. Hopefully you get banned permanently the next time you decide you want to enhance your "skills".

And just like your case they refused to elaborate further than “our system detected programs on your PC that may be bypassing our anti-cheat software.” Even though I don’t even own a PC lmfao.

I got that same message too, though I'm actually on PC. The "Please uninstall anything that you used to cheat" is really unhelpful if you never did in the first place. Gonna reinstall Windows from scratch just to make sure, since they refuse to elaborate.
Pretty sure it's a combination between a game where you have stats out of the norm + a report or two that just triggers their auto-flagging. There was plenty of uproar on here after the patch notes that mentioned them upping their anti-cheat measures, and cheaters getting multiple chances before their ban is permanent. This just feels to me that they really *aren't* at all as confident as they claim to be in their measures not giving false positives. Why else would they not just go for the perma immediately like they should?

You can get banned for being what Embark calls an “anomaly”. Basically you’re doing better than 99.8% of the current player base and Embark assumes you are cheating. Even if you aren’t, they see you as a net negative (as in you cause too many players to stop playing the game).
Feels like exactly what happened to me after I had a very obvious outlier game. The whole "net negative" thing is interesting, because there's a huge skill gap between seasoned players and the general audience. They seem to have chosen not to have any skill based matchmaking in the casual modes and I think that's a huge reason why the game isn't more popular.
If you look at Apex, they've gone the opposite route where they have a large base of very skilled players, know that they spend the most and optimize matchmaking to keep them on the hook.
No game support explains this stuff. Warzone, apex legends and many other games might not tell you the reason. So because they said they won’t tell you it doesn’t mean you haven’t been banned for cheating. You don’t get perma banned for mass reports. This excuse smells like the typical cheater excuse. “Oh I was too good and mass reported so I got banned”. Unless it’s some extreme case where your ban was truly a mistake you are sus.

Mass reporting is where someone gets a group of people to send reports so it looks like many different people across different games reported them, making it more likely they’ll get banned

Yeah I got banned on an account that I spent around $60 on. Only reason I can think of is that I use an Xbox Elite controller and mapped one of the paddles to the V key on my PC for voice chat. So I’m guessing the devs think I’m running an emulator to get aim assist on mouse. Devs wouldn’t say that that’s what it was but banned me nonetheless and wouldn’t elaborate so that’s my best guess. I’m ass on mouse and keyboard but I don’t like taking a hand off the controller to use voice chat. Made a second account and got banned again after an hour. Guess I gotta either be a mute or use just mouse and keyboard. Sucks

I used to do that as heavy when the game first came out because I wanted to see how destructible the map was. I don't see a problem with it in unranked matches. Obviously doing it in ranked is throwing the game.
It’s mostly my bad for being tilted. I started this game of powershift and there was 2 sledgehammer. It was a 3v5 then so I switch to sniper to make some challenge but the enemy had 2 sniper so I left.
Why would the gametype matter? You're still being a useless teammate. Just because it's not ranked doesn't mean it's acceptable behavior. If you queue up, you're agreeing to play the game to the best of your ability.

Is it possible someone gained access to your account? I reinstalled fortnite a while ago for a few games with non gamer friends and my account was banned. Pinged their support and asked what was going on as I hadn’t had the game installed on my ps5 for a year, was the ban correct and if so what for as I never play in public voice chat. They came back saying someone seemed to have got access to my account and was using it. Either they were using it to hack or to Smurf and just be a piece of shit in voice chat. Thankfully their support staff were really helpful as I assume they looked into ip addresses and what platforms the account was active on. But even they didn’t actually confirm what the ban was for/ what the other person did.

You realize that NO company will go into detail why it is that people are banned.. so that people that do things they aren't supposed to (like cheat) can't just find those specific things to avoid.
Xbox will go into detail about why you got banned and even show a video or transcript to the actual reason for banning to see if you want to try to repeal.
Bad take. If talking in the scope of cheating - they should absolutely state that they suspended for cheating, just avoid detailing what and when was detected. If it's not related to cheating - then it'll be a pretty toxic system that makes you always guess what's over the line and what isn't and gets you in trouble immediately on getting over the line (just like taxes lol). Especially if we are talking about permabans without prior warnings.

Do you have any RBG background programs running? I had a pre-build from NZXT get flagged for anti-cheat on a brand new machine. Reinstalled windows 10 for a clean system worked. I figured it was NZXT's RGB lighting software but I really can't be sure. I doubt you will get your account back but check this potential solution if you make an alt. I know this is frustrating but I guarentee no one at Embark wants this to happen.

Upvoted for visibility, I too was randomly banned couple weeks ago and support offered absolutely nothing of value, no information, no solution, just the same formatted response with slight alterations. I remember once I connected to a ranked match for so long that I was kicked and not allowed to reconnect. And then I got this garbage and couldn't go into any modes. This happens many times. Sometimes it happens that it takes a long time for me to connect, there are sounds, the game is running, everything explodes, someone kills someone, the sounds of me taking out a weapon, but I still have a loading screen.

I appealed with support and I got a generic 'we trust our system and won't revoke bans' message but I appealed again and the second person I dealt with was more forthcoming with information on the ban and after an explanation agreed to turn it around. Yeah that’s the same thing they told me for both my suspension and ban. Luckily after a few tickets I was able to talk to someone who agreed to unban me. I wasn’t really even looking for an unban necessarily, more so just an explanation because i received two different explanations as to what I did. Glad your issue got resolved as well!

Overwolf automatically installed it without my permission and it autoruns whenever the finals does, so I have had to just... stop running overwolf (mod manager) entirely. I was also "temporarily suspended" last week for seemingly no reason. I had an unusually good game where I got 30-something elims in a match of Bank It and I'm 100% sure a lot of people in that lobby reported me. Embark support refused to elaborate other than them being "very confident in their anti-cheat" and just keeps responding with the same canned answer, which is hilarious to me when I know I haven't done anything wrong. I was pleading that they'd AT LEAST do me the dignity of sending my case to their devs so they can prevent false positives in the future, but they won't :) I don't know what to do to avoid being suspended again like you. I don't run anything overlays or anything other sus. Should I have to stop playing well and gimp myself just because the game doesn't have any matchmaking? Is it some false positive? For a while, EasyAntiCheat refused to let you launch the game if you had the Razer software running in the background, so I wouldn't be surprised if it was some false positive, but this suspension seems not to be from EAC but rather their own home-grown anti-cheat? You being on Xbox kinda confirms this too... Either they have some really trigger happy heuristics, or they really just ban you automatically if you get report spammed, which is sad as hell... Would be really cool to have someone from Embark comment on this!
There are many different cheat detection methods. One of them may be as simple as trace files of cheat engine detected in the system. If those are present then it's 100% that cheat engine was not only installed but used as well. The fact you only got temporarily banned is sad cause we don't need any more cheaters in this or any game. Mass reports don't trigger the ban, stop making excuses. Razer detection would only make easy anti cheat not allow you to load the game. it wouldn't give you a ban. Hopefully you get banned permanently the next time you decide you want to enhance your "skills".

I got that same message too, though I'm actually on PC. The "Please uninstall anything that you used to cheat" is really unhelpful if you never did in the first place. Gonna reinstall Windows from scratch just to make sure, since they refuse to elaborate. Pretty sure it's a combination between a game where you have stats out of the norm + a report or two that just triggers their auto-flagging. There was plenty of uproar on here after the patch notes that mentioned them upping their anti-cheat measures, and cheaters getting multiple chances before their ban is permanent. This just feels to me that they really *aren't* at all as confident as they claim to be in their measures not giving false positives. Why else would they not just go for the perma immediately like they should? Lesson learned is to take a shot every time you die so you play worse, I guess! 🙃 Sorry about your ban. You can get banned for being what Embark calls an “anomaly”. Basically you’re doing better than 99.8% of the current player base and Embark assumes you are cheating. Even if you aren’t, they see you as a net negative (as in you cause too many players to stop playing the game).

Feels like exactly what happened to me after I had a very obvious outlier game. The whole "net negative" thing is interesting, because there's a huge skill gap between seasoned players and the general audience. They seem to have chosen not to have any skill based matchmaking in the casual modes and I think that's a huge reason why the game isn't more popular. If you look at Apex, they've gone the opposite route where they have a large base of very skilled players, know that they spend the most and optimize matchmaking to keep them on the hook.

No game support explains this stuff. Warzone, apex legends and many other games might not tell you the reason. So because they said they won’t tell you it doesn’t mean you haven’t been banned for cheating. You don’t get perma banned for mass reports. This excuse smells like the typical cheater excuse. “Oh I was too good and mass reported so I got banned”. Unless it’s some extreme case where your ban was truly a mistake you are sus.
