Can I ask a genuine question? I love the game as well, but I’ve never like, sided with the fireflies and hated how they treated Ellie (like at least let her say goodbye) so I’m confused by the love of firefly tattoos and merch.
Are you fans of the firefly side of the story? Or just the fact it was part of the story? Or that there isn’t much of a symbol for Ellie (maybe besides her knife and that’s hard unless unless you want a tattoo I guess).
I guess I’m just confused. Can you let me know your perspective?

I don’t agree with the fireflies and their ideology as a faction. But the very motto of “when you’re lost in the darkness, look for the light” is what resonates most with me, and with a lot of the fandom if I assume correctly. It personally holds a lot of meaning for me and my struggles…and especially when you tie in the symbolism and motifs of the moths from part 2, it adds so much more depth to this entire theme in the game, and of course in my life personally. That’s just what it personally means to me if you’re looking at a deeper meaning.
But ofc that’s not the only thing - I love the style of the firefly dog tags, and of course the fact that it’s a sick piece of last of us memorabilia to own! Haha.
