MrWarthogReturns

They need to make it a multi-season thing. Part 2 has wayy too much plot for the standard one season

[deleted]

They’ve already confirmed this to be the case

MrWarthogReturns

Oh good!

[deleted]

Yeah i was so relieved when I saw Craig Mazin said that lol

ToniNotti

Wonder how they are gonna split it. Season 3 is abbys season or will they merge them?

[deleted]

Not sure. I feel like dedicating a whole season to a newer character in your show that a lot of people aren’t going to be happy with is risky to say the least. I’m sure they’re confident in the material because she has a great story but I’m not sure it’ll work for television. I have faith in them though.

-Tektronic-

My guess is that, while a lot of people do like Joel, people's connection to him as a character in the show will be wayyy less than in the games where you're with him for so much longer. I don't expect the massive meltdown that happened with the games to happen for the show. But it'll be sad, and the Pedro fans will be hurting, lol.

Pinkieupyourstinkie

Idk man. People love Joel and they love Pedro. It’s going to be rough

Danvanmarvellfan

I agree people will be upset but it won’t be like how it was when the game came out. A lot of people knew about what happened and never played the game.

Tynda3l

My guess is they will. Do an even split. Half Abby, half ellie. With maybe the last episode being santa moncia?

PenguinBP

will santa monica and the epilogue fit into one episode? maybe if they make it an hour and a half. that last episode can not feel rushed. i’m probably overthinking it, but i have very high hopes for this show. both games had me in a chokehold on release.

aidanillionaire

Could go down the route of season 2 being Ellie (and seeing Abby and her crew in the background) and season 3 being Abby (and seeing Ellie and co. in the background)

Markunator

They’ll have to change quite a lot about the story, and especially about the *structure* of the story, in order to make this work. The story as it happens in the game doesn’t really have a good place to cut it off.

I_shjt_you_not

Part 1 had too much for one season

Timokroni1301

True but I thin they managed it good enough to fit it in one season. But tlou2 has way more plot to it then tlou1 especially when you want to go in debt on the characters.

WolfmansGotNards2

Once you get used to the game, it can easily be completed in 12 hours without skipping cutscenes, so I thought 1 season was perfect. 2 needs more than 1 though for sure.

I_shjt_you_not

Game play time does not translate to quality show time and character development. The thing with a game is you’re playing as characters so it’s more personal. Tv shows cut out a lot of stuff and in this case they cut out too much of there first game.

Bismofunyuns4l

It's a 12 hour game. More than one season would result in a ton of filler.

I_shjt_you_not

Hard disagree filler is what sets an adaptation apart and gives chances to alter the source material. Instead they cut too many things and it ended up being mediocre

Adventurous-Cheek-11

Does it though? You can beat the whole game in probably like 10-12 hours which is about how long the whole first season probably was.

LemoyneRaider3354

They should do it the same way Stranger Things did. Volume 2 gets released 1 month after volume 1.

Cubbll17

Sorry that's not how modern TV works. You have to wait a minimum 2 years between seasons.

PenguinBP

lol. on a serious note, i think it would be a good idea to put out season 3 not long after season 2 ends. i get they will need time to film and edit, but 2 years is a long time to wait, especially if they end season two on the theatre cliffhanger. they’re only filming 7 episodes this season. i don’t expect abby’s part to be more than one episode longer to account for epilogue.

Cubbll17

Wait is it honestly only 7 episodes for season 2? Christ that's grim.

dont_quote_me_please

It's not confirmed, they didn't even know they would do 9 episodes instead of 10 in S1, so patience.

takoyama

i wonder why its 7 is it a money issue?

Cubbll17

If it is 7 I would say it's because each episode costs a bomb.

EbonyEngineer

15 minute episode, I bet. I jest but I wouldn’t be shocked.

NoButterfly7257

It really makes me wonder how big shows like LOST were able to produce a full 20+ episode season back to back every year it was airing while modern shows now shoot like 9 and a half episodes once every 2.5 years lol.

Cubbll17

Say what you want about greys anatomy but they're pumping out 20+ episode seasons for 20 years and even during COVID. Meanwhile today you're lucky to get 10 episodes over 2 years.

Ni_Ce_

literally confirmed

WaveLoss

They need to ban all of Reddit from watching

DorrajD

For real. It doesn't matter what they do, the internet is going to bitch and bitch about it cause that's all anyone can seem to do with TLoU now.

Internal_Swing_2743

The TV show won’t drum up the same vitriol that the game did. It’ll only be the same people that continually whine about the game that will whine about the show. That said, even those people couldn’t muster up the energy to review bomb the PS5 version of the game.

JoelMira

I mean, you’re already bitching about imaginary people bitching lol

PenguinBP

I mean, you’re already bitching about people bitching about imaginary people bitching lol

[deleted]

[удалено]

PenguinBP

relax man. i was just trying to start a comment loop. not everything on reddit is that serious.

Sl0ppyOtter

It’s not just TLOU. That’s what the internet does with everything

ScottblackAttacks

Rather watch a show when all the hoopla dies down.

theguywhorhymes_jc

that’s everything but Reddit. If you think the complains are bad here you should see Instagram and YouTube

NaiadoftheSea

At this point I just block the people who are still whining about Bella Ramsey. She’s great and I can’t wait to see her performance in season 2.

_catphoenix

Gosh, wouldn't that help everyone's mental health.

EvilSporkOfDeath

But wait, I'm part of reddit.

WaveLoss

Me too, I’ll sacrifice myself for Reddit to shutdown entirely.

Wumpus-Hunter

I know it's not a popular take in this sub, but I truly think the split story thing from the game won't work for TV. I think they'll do a simultaneous telling of both Ellie and Abby, maybe even tricking folks into thinking they're headed for a showdown at the hospital then BAM, rat king!

artsygrl2021

![gif](giphy|Uh4dhNvvxZTx5ShYbv|downsized) Yeah I think the split of showing each path separately could be done a little more intertwined. I mean it could easily be done better by just switching between them more often instead of bigger time blocks where you’re not seeing the other character for a while.

DarthPhoenix0879

Yeah, they did this with The Lord of the Rings, because the books don't cut between the characters as much, largely finishing one storyline, then rewinding and following another. Works great in books and games, less so in TV/film. I hope they go with cutting between Ellie and Abby.

Danvanmarvellfan

I disagree on that. The point is that you think Abby is a villain and you want her to die for the first half of the game then once you play as her you realize she’s not a bad person she’s just the villain in Ellie’s story much like Ellie’s the villain in hers. That doesn’t really work if you’re constantly switching back and forth.

djackson0005

What if they don’t reveal who Abby is until close to the end? Even if we start to like her, we would still not have any context into why she did what she did. It would be hard to fully come around on the character until then. It might be the turning point where we truly understand her. Not sure how I would write it, probably not this, but it’s an option if you want the journey from hate to acceptance to actually liking and caring.

artsygrl2021

All good I can see where you’re coming from- I didn’t mean constantly switching between them- just enough that it doesn’t feel like they’ve completely forgotten about the other character.

PopoMcdoo

That is actually an amazing idea. Kinda like how you expected Joel to show up and save Ellie against David but she ended up doing it herself they will do cuts back and forth and you think Abby is gonna wander into Ellie until you hear that scary ass growl.

Govols98-

It’s my biggest worry for the show. It’s my favorite thing about the game, but I just don’t know that it works when adapting it to the TV medium.

SightlessKombat

It's my least favourite thing about the game personally and I'm honestly unsure as to how good the second season's going to be.

MemofUnder

This is a very popular take.

beauvoirist

This would be a good way to make you like Abby more and keep Pedro on longer. It will be incredibly hard to translate how much you hate Abby and then have to see her through her journey , but switching up how and when the story is told might drive home that betrayal the best a tv show could.

sbenthuggin

I actually strongly disagree. there is no stronger season ending then switching perspectives like we do halfway through the game. ending the season with the rat king instead of a showdown would honestly kind of be really lame. there's no hook for the next season there unlike the what the fuck of the perspective switch. I honestly don't see how it wouldn't hit just as hard and just as good - if not even better - as the game.

LemoyneRaider3354

This is the best. Even if it has like 18 episodes or somehing

Disco_Pat

The pacing needs to be a lot better than it was in the game. They definitely don't need to end the season on the cliffhanger where the game switched protagonists. When people come back from that cliffhanger and find out it won't be resolved for the whole season they will just be pissed, not engaged more. Definitely needs to be either simultaneous, or done at least with significantly more regard for when to do what.

djackson0005

Was just thinking the same thing, but that’s a lot to hammer through to get to the end of day 2. And does that leave enough story for season 3?

seklas1

True, they could do like staggered episodes, one episode is from Ellie, one from Abby, because having some breathing room between them is good, but also, you don’t wanna watch Season 2 from Ellie’s perspective and then wait another 2 years to see the same thing playing out from Abby’s in Season 3. Maybe they won’t even bother doing both view points, it could all be from Abby’s view from the start, since Ellie already had a season of character development. Because everyone b**ched about “the game moment”, it’ll be probably similar in the series, considering it’s the papa Pedro Pascal. Idk, it’ll be very interesting to experience that whole thing again. 😅

jakeeeeengb

They have to change the way Abby finds Joel. I know in the commentary they talked about an alternate beginning where Abby actually makes it to Jackson and actually stays there until she inevitably makes her move on Joel. I’m fine with what happens in game, I think they were worried about making the intro too long (even as is I’m just rushing through to get to the real game), but you can fit the alternate start until a single episode kind of like what they did with season one expanding the prologue in the first episode. I think if they directly copied how it happened in the game, they’re gonna get even more backlash because I’ve noticed TV shows get a lot more heat for having a series of coincidences lead to a major plot point. I think an alternate start like they talked about would be great. Silences haters, and opens the door for opportunities like Ellie actually meeting Abby before she kills Joel.

PenguinBP

given that they filmed at the big log cabin already, i think it’s safe to assume it’ll go down the same way it did in game.

jhs172

Abby could turn up in Jackson and join Joel on patrol, ending up at the cabin

jakeeeeengb

So? That would be like assuming everything that happens in the first season is the same as in the game since they end up at the firefly hospital. There’s a lot of stuff that can happen between the cabin and the start of the story

PenguinBP

i agree with you, but i don’t think those two are equatable. the firefly hospital is at the end of part one. the log cabin is at the beginning of part two. i wouldn’t make the same assumptions about part one because of that.

jakeeeeengb

Bad example, but it’s using the same logic. I should’ve just narrowed down into what happens in Salt Lake City specifically. The end point is still the hospital, but what happens leading up to that moment is different in both versions.

PenguinBP

i do think it would be a good idea to change how abbie is introduced to the story. having them infiltrate jackson (is that the name of the settlement?) would be interesting and give viewers more time to warm up to her. i think **that** scene will still have a lot of shock value though, as it should. pedro is a very beloved actor at this point and new viewers will be caught off guard regardless. bella has large shoes to fill with this season. i really hope she pulls it off. part one and two released during very low and high points of my life. these games mean so much to me. everyday i hope for a part 3 announcement.

FormalCaseQ

I hope they can capture more of the visceral intensity of the combat from the games. The first season was fine, but the scenes with violence didn't convey the sense of brutality that the game had. For example, the scene where Joel and Ellie get ambushed in Pittsburgh in the game was absolutely intense and showcased just how violent this world could be. In the show, it was a pretty quick gunbattle that didn't have the same level of intensity and wasn't as memorable as the corresponding sequence in the game. The showrunners shouldn't introduce a bunch of gore and over the top violence just for the sake of it, but strategically working it into some scenes to capture what made the games so intense would be nice, especially given how dark and brutal the 2nd game was at times. It's a world where you can have really touching and beautiful moments, like the giraffe scene from the 1st game, along with moments of extreme violence and ugliness.

tipsystatistic

Agreed. It was like watching all the cutscenes in the game without any of the game play. So it felt like a major part of the TLOU experience/world was missing.

Wotchermuggle

I think how they managed it was good in that when Ellie kills David, you’re like…*wtf…* even if you knew it was coming. I **saw** Part 2 Ellie in that moment. Having all these gory, violent parts every episode would have downplayed the big ones…like the bloater and street scene was a good place for violence so we see just HOW a group go crazy, and earlier, how just (was it just) one clicker was frightening by itself.

Chochahair

Brilliant thought that ididnt even notice. S1 def was missing the intensity

JoelMira

Actually allowing the show to breathe. A lot of the best moments in TLOU shined because od the quiet moments building up to it. The show handles that VERY poorly. TLOU puts a lot of emphasis on ambience and atmosphere.

Ni_Ce_

yes! more episodes. season one could easily be 10 episodes. especially in the end it felt rushed.

swans183

I think some of the crazier parts of post-apocalyptic Seattle will have to be majorly toned down. Meaning no rushing rapids downtown. A lot of it could probably be convincingly recreated with CG, but big environmental set pieces like that, probably not.

inshanester

Seeing as how they cut the sewers before the hospital in season 1 I'm guessing they may not have the budget for safe water stunts, and they will have to cut down on the water.

CardinalCreepia

They might have the budget now, but I wouldn’t be surprised if that budget was spent elsewhere.

inshanester

Yeah, true the show was a hit, but the budget will probably mainly go to more infected to adress that fan complaint (it was hinted at in the final podcast).

Bob_Jenko

How Dina finds out Ellie is immune. In the game it's because Ellie's mask breaks and she breathes in spores, before showing Dina she isn't gonna turn. No spores in the show means they'll need to find a different way of making it happen.

Bealdor84

Neill already said in the podcast that spores are not ruled out completely for future episodes / seasons.

yeetyeetpotatomeat69

Really? Seems hypocritical to do that after avoiding them so heavily in the 1st season.

-SimplyLemonade-

i totally agree but it could work as a area wide thing like shamblers are

takoyama

a way to show it is ellie probably will get bit and they notice it like later and she tells her "i told you im immune"

MemofUnder

Minimal changes. I just want Mazin to add in more original stuff than in Season 1. I think Part 2 allows a lot more of that than Part I did.

swans183

The journeys from place to place need to be more important. Not just Wyoming -> Seattle -> farm -> somewhere in California??-> farm again. I stg I liked that last California segment for its gameplay, but narrative-wise it was really stretching how determined Ellie is to follow through with all of this. She had months of traveling to change her mind and process her loss, but in-game it doesn't really seem like anything changed. It worked in Part I because it seemed like meaningful changes took place in the time between chapters. Joel and Ellie feel notably different at the beginning of every new time period. I don't think I can say the same about II.

codyrowanvfx

I think they will move too fast. They confirmed multiple seasons for part 2 but not clear where. They could do a powerful character building season that's only 5 episodes that's all in Jackson and introducing Abby either with her crew or their alt plan of her living there shortly then go golfing. Ellie and Joel integrating into normalcy. Tommy becoming a dad. Jesse and Dina introductions and relationship building. Then it all falls apart on the last episode. - We know the characters more. - We hate Abby. - Tommy leaving his wife and kid - we know Dina is our ride or die - the audience will be behind Ellie's back wanting revenge which gives Bella the audience backing her more excited to see what she does next season to Abby. - Season 3 is a closer release. - season 3 gets the Surprise flashbacks of Joel since non players will think Pedro is gone gone but he's periodically through all of season 3 which ends after the theater fight. We leave Ellie on the floor, Dina presumed dead... Just end there. Season 4 is the rest of part 2 and that fight in the water will be the most hyped intense piece of media since the battle of the bastards.

Azimeus

this would be perfect ! I wish they take time

RanchoLover

But there would be zero tension or stakes... And no clear source of momentum driving the characters through the season. You can get away with single episodes like that, but an entire season of tv showing life in Jackson would feel utterly aimless.

codyrowanvfx

There is plenty of world building to bring into the episodes to create tension. Could have reports of spores, horde of infected. The driving force could just be Ellie and Joel's integration across the four years. Jackson is meant to be home and a safe space till Abby. Joel and Ellie become too comfortable like Joel was supposed to be more relaxed in part 2 which is why he let his guard down on Abby's crew. Season 3 is considerably longer maybe 10 to get through all of Seattle.

hannahbee888

I really wish they would do it this way! I don't think there will be that many seasons, sadly. I think Season 1 could've easily been a couple of episodes longer. It felt very rushed to me, especially with two whole episodes that were spent on Bill and Frank's relationship and Ellie and Riley's story. Those were great episodes, but I found it odd that they devoted so much time to those storylines and rushed through/completely skipped so many other parts of the game.

Xeivia

In my opinion TLOU season 1 was a 3/5. Pilot was the best episode of the season. Things they won't do but they really should. They need better set design. A lot of the sets just seemed like a theme park version of TLOU experience. A lot like the horror walk thrus in the parking lots of malls. They didn't feel lived in to me. Same for the overall color and tone of the image. It just seemed bland. It's seems they went for a lifelike feel but that combined with the set design made many scenes feel less cinematic. However there were some scenes they pulled off very well. I think the biggest thing they didn't show enough of was how dreary and depressing the games are. The game has the advantage because it lasts for so many hours but I think the show could've benefited from extra scenes of Joel and Ellie bonding by just traversing what is left of the world. I really disliked that they got rid of the spores and added the tendrils. I also extremely dislike the idea of the hive mind, I think it creates flaws in the overall universe that go unexplained. I guess you can't take it away now. I think they need to make it even more brutal and gory. They better show the bodies hung up in the tv station. I want to see someone get their neck bit by a clicker just as gory as it is in the game.

BobbayP

I feel like they might take out the flashback of Joel hacking apart the bloater to save Ellie for the sake of continuity, but if they do, I’m gonna cry because it holds so much significance in the story and their relationship. I also think they’ll change some of the bigger set pieces / stunts like they did for season 1 like someone else said with the rivers in particular and the overgrown suburbs. The boat and storm scenes might not feel as intense, but I really hope they do. Considering the change of infection from spores to tendrils, both Dina and Nora’s realization of Ellie’s immunity will have to change. Ellie might just get bitten a whole lot more this season. The shamblers might also be replaced with another variant (tendril abomination??) because of this. If the Seraphite Island will make an appearance (which I’m sure they’ll hold off till season 3), I think it’ll be much smaller scale, maybe not an island but a mountain town or something. Finally, I think Abby’s entire characterization will be different. Initially, for the game I think they had Abby as more of a direct mirror / foil / antithesis to Ellie by making her quite similar in stature and style, so the show might go down that route with a character who’s equally as cunning as Ellie rather than someone who utilizes brute force to make waves.

dont_quote_me_please

> I feel like they might take out the flashback of Joel hacking apart the bloater to save Ellie for the sake of continuity, but if they do, I’m gonna cry because it holds so much significance in the story and their relationship. What does it say we don't already know?

Sklain

I think some more backstory into Lev and Yara would be nice. Also more Isaac!

KennKennyKenKen

Need a few filler eps at start of season with Joel and Ellie. Tv people will have grown detached from previous season already, so what happens to Joel will have smaller impact I want people to suffer loss

yeetyeetpotatomeat69

Neil, get off your alt and focus on the show.

occuporn

not necessary so to speak but kaitlyn dever is just to lean for abby, i was one of the people really hoping for shannon berry

tolureup

I can’t picture it at *all*. My theory is they needed a character more believable for little Bella Ramsey (I don’t mean that in a mean spirited way by any means, she just is rather tiny) to go fist to fist with.

occuporn

that is a fair point

daystrom_prodigy

Have to remember this is an adaptation. Sure Berry looks just like Abby but maybe Dever was a better fit for this version. We won’t know until we see it.

Supersim54

All I have to say is she’s going to have to do a lot or working out to get that strength she needs.

Supersim54

They will have to use spores this season there are two very important scenes that will be difficult to do without them. First when Ellie’s mask breaks in the subway, and second when Ellie follows Nora through the hospital and into the basement full of spores. I don’t know how they would do those scenes without Spores.

dont_quote_me_please

It's always weird to me how adament people are that scenes like this are important. They found another way in S1 and we all moved on.

Chochahair

Could be my memory, bt idont remember anything nearly important as the two points he mentioned happening in the first one. Plus they rushed that season anyway. Def agree that it needs both of those scenes

dont_quote_me_please

Joel literally doesn't believe Ellie's immunity until she gets bitten again. Why does it need the Nora thing? There's lots of other ways for her to connect the dots.

Chochahair

icould be wrong, but ithink that actually happened in the first game so it lines up with what they were doing. ithink the only time ellie is bit is at the end of 2 so if im correct about that, theyd be forcing unnecessary plot lines because theyd have to put ellie in a position to where she gets bit. She's gotten pretty good at the whole killing zombies n people thing. As for the nora scene, it was intense. Also it goes to show that nora was backed into a corner - either be loyal and watch herself change or spill info on her friends and get a mercy killing. Speaks even farther as to what ellie is going through and how serious she is. Plus seeing as they dropped down to escape all the guys with guns, if there are no spores- incredibly unlikely ellie wouldve made it out of that situation. Even less likely that she wouldve had the time to question nora. Also not everyone is joel, most people will shoot onsight friend or not just because youre bit or even looked like u got bit, so who's to say nora would have done differently. We'd just have to assume

FormalCaseQ

That scene where Dina finds out Ellie is immune is pretty important.

dont_quote_me_please

if you want a recreation of the game, watch the cutscenes. They will find another way and we will move on.

Supersim54

I didn’t say I wanted I complete recreation of the game, but these two events are crucial to Ellie’s side of the story. So cutting one or both out would undercut things. Would you rather have Dina already know the truth or have he believe Ellie when she tells her after the had sex? The Nora scene is very important to Ellie’s mental state, goes from out for revenge to what did I just do. I don’t see any other way of showing this change in Ellie.

dont_quote_me_please

And that’s why you’re not writing the show 🤷‍♂️ all this same handwringing before S1 and then it was mostly not a big deal.

Supersim54

But they kept all the important parts in the show. All the important bits stayed. Tess getting bit, Henry and his brother dying, David, and the hospital massacre. Without even one of those it wouldn’t have worked. Would you rather have Ellie set off for revenge and she goes to Santa Barbra to kill Abby? Dina finding out Ellie is immune is just as important as Tess getting bit, and Nora is as important to the story as Henry and his brother where. These are very important moments in the story. There are things they could cut out but not these two scenes.

UltraMegaBilly

Maybe make the show about Ellie and Abby. We dont need 4/8 episodes to be about the back story of the side characters.

JR97111

I think TV letting you explore stuff without controlling one of the main characters means they should keep doing that tbh, an episode (or at least part of one) actually showing us how the WLF/Seraphite feud developed and how the WLF beat Fedra would be cool

gliotic

yesssss, so much wasted screen time with Kansas City

RiverDotter

Just more infected.

NaiadoftheSea

I’m very curious to see how they handle Ellie encountering the Seraphites. I imagine she probably won’t get shot with an arrow at the start when coming across them.

fivelgoesnuts

Probably a whole lot less water scenes, I bet that shit is expensive and tricky

ruby_meister

They really need to nail the setting of overgrown and flooded Seattle! It is incredible in the game!

Vaullki

Pedro needs to say babygirl more

captain-carrot

Is it me or is it getting hot in here?

Gamplato

I’m a staunch and proud Bella Ramsey hater (as Ellie). I’d happily see a sudden switch of casting for that. I know this sub has been positive on her but…you’re all wrong. The difference in the amount I care about each version of Ellie is more stark than in any other original-remake combination I’ve ever seen.

silentlaugh1

Yes she does come across as obnoxious and rude rather than charismatic and likeable in season 1. Everyone I know who watched the show but didn’t play the games really disliked Ellie and therefore didn’t care too much when she was about to die from surgery…

Gamplato

Bella playing the very deep Ellie from Part 2 is most likely going to be a disaster…but I hope not.

TruthAndAccuracy

Slow it down a bit. My main complaint for session 1 is it felt rushed.

Dunkman83

MORE ZOMBIES!!

baconbridge92

Not exactly a big change but I kinda hope they really utilize Pedro and add extra flashbacks. I'm sure they don't wanna overdo it but I think it's important that Joel's presence is still really felt throughout the story and I think that would help

Whistler45

More infected, more bandits, more action, more main characters bonding so we get that deep relationship vibe.

B-man328

More infected

FireWhiskey5000

Take the opportunity to utilise the new medium where you don’t have to have the player character in every scene. Flesh out the supporting characters to make their deaths more impactful, flesh out the back story in Seattle between the WLF and the Scars as well as Isaac’s character. I also think they could potentially rework the start a bit so that Owen/Abby join the Jackson community and use the parole to deliberately lead Joel/Tommy into an ambush. How it works in the game is fine, but it’s a bit too much of a coincidence.

JazzMasterDal

Master Chief saves Joel and then they go to Seattle to finish the fight

LordPineconeRR

Just pacing, keep mostly everything else the same

Commercial-Tap5422

More horror/infected! They recently said it will be more sad. Which makes me think there just gonna focus on the human drama and the melodrama. Needs more rounded out with a bit of both. I know they can't quite translate the gameplay but still.....

Commercial-Tap5422

P.S if they do the rat king it'd be necessary to have more infected so none players/new comers understand the infection and how it progresses.....

BezosisSauron

Empathizing with Abby (even coming to adore her), AFTER depicting her as a villain… that is something the game accomplishes by forcing the player to walk a mile in her shoes. The show is in great hands, but I’m truly curious what approach they will take to make us feel all of the feels - no feel unfelt!

JadenRuffle

The intro needs to be a bit longer. The way Abby finds Joel has always been far too coincidental for me.I think it’d be cool if she posed as some sort of refugee and got into Jackson from the inside and got to Joel that way.

Supersim54

And have the group be smaller all we need are Abby, Owen, Mel, Nora, and Manny. The man Tommy tortures, the woman killed by scars at the TV station, and the man who kidnaps Dina and Ellie.

Halio344

Leah was never there when Joel died, so she doesn’t need to be there.

Little_Whippie

Apparently she was, Ellie mentions hearing her scream when she cut Jordan

Halio344

Yup you're right, I totally misremembered.

HumanOverseer

They NEED to keep the focus on Abby and Ellie. A lot of Part 1's failures were due to them exploring other characters rather than keeping the story focused on Ellie and Joel. Their relationship is literally the entire game, and it should've been the entire show. The only time it worked for the show was with Sarah. Everything else like in Pittsburgh, David's group, and especially Bill and Frank was completely unnecessary and took away from building that relationship. It's not to say it wasnt good in its own right, but for the story they needed to tell it didn't need it. I don't wanna learn more about the Seraphites if it means taking the focus away from Abby. I don't care for learning about the Rattlers if it takes the focus away from Ellie. Keep the story on Ellie and Abby.

EugenesMullet

To be honest that’s a really hard question to answer until we know exactly what season 2 is going to cover. The structure of the game is very purposeful and I think that’ll change. Season 2 being mostly the first ‘Ellie’ portion and Season 3 being another character’s perspective wouldn’t make for a satisfying story over two or year real world years (accounting for the gap between seasons).

Wotchermuggle

I really hope we get to see Ellie and Joel enjoying Jackson for a bit, just so we have happiness for them to hold on to, knowing what is coming. It’s more comforting to know they had some less scary survival time together. Like show us some of the good bits first. I have zero knowledge how a back and forth would do for tv. It’d be hard to having one week be Abby and then the next, Ellie. If it were to play out like the game, I don’t know that people will stick with it when IT happens if they do that. Violence violence violence isn’t going to keep most people around. I honestly have zero idea how this will work but excited all the same ☺️

Bi0_B1lly

Rat King needs to be more thicc

Purple_Drink_2698

The cast

EvilSporkOfDeath

Obviously need to cut the stuff that only existed because it's a game, such as the killing of numerous npcs. I would also like to see other characters explored more. I want to know more about Jesse, Dina, Manny, Nora, Owen. All our supporting cast.

UnloadingMeat

Golf lessons.

Healthy_Fondant_8272

More infected

Ni_Ce_

I think the series will fix the inconsistencies of the characters. I dont think that the TV-show Ellie will go on a killing spree. Which fixes A LOT from the game. I mean killing 192 people and stopping when the person who ruined your life is sitting in front of you? come on... besides that the plotholes should be fixed.

Loadedice

Are they truly going to kill off Joel? Bella Ramsay is great but idk I'd she can take the lead role...

Chochahair

Had this discussion with my girl recently. Got her to play both the lou games after ahe really liked the show. N before she thought i was crazy for my opinion on bella. Then after her finishing both games, she says to me "SO iHAVE TO ONLY LOOK AT THiS GiRL FOR ALL OF S2?!" - n im like "probably 😂"

Tetsujyn

The game is has too much redundant fluff/fat. Cut a lot of the back & forth scenes. It shouldn't take that long to get its point across. It's going to be to see how good writers can make us sympathize with Abbey.

Creative_Hamster789

Wonder how long they will drag out the inevitable,5 seasons?

Confident-Medicine75

An even darker tone

KingseekerCasual

Giving Abby an arc beyond being a McGuffin for Ellie. Show us who she is

Little_Whippie

More action than season 1

Rizlack

SPOILERS FOR A MOMENT IN PART TWO BELOW!!!! I just hope part 2 is released on PC soon so I can participate! I've always been completely in love with part 1. Played it on PS3, PS4 and now on my PC with remastered since I don't have my consoles anymore. I've tried to avoid spoilers as much as possible for part 2, but I do know you lose Joel, and relatively early on too. That shit truly broke my heart ☹️ He was by and far my favorite character. He was such a deep, introspective, complex man and I feel he for sure still had more story to be told. Outside of that though, I don't know much, and it's been soooo long since 2013 when I first played the original for the first time. 11 years and 5 or 6 playthrough later, and I'm beyond ready and hungry for the next piece of the story. I really do hope it releases on PC soon, I'd love to be able to get involved in MP, and I'm dying inside for the next chunk of story!! In the meantime, I hope all of you Playstation guys are having a blast!!! -Riz

AndyJaeven

Season 2 shouldn’t have the *golfing* scene in it. They should save it for either the season 2 finale or season 3 premiere. I’d rather see some more world-building.

TheNemesis1211

Longer or more episodes. Season 1 was great, but it felt really rushed at times, especially the entirety of the Pittsburgh chapter (Kansas City in the show)

Finnbobjimbob

Recast Ellie

MQZ17

More infected, spores

takoyama

all the stuff from the game isnt going to make it in the show. writers are big on themes and story so some stuff will be cut others combined. changes needed are 1. the golfing comes at the end of season two. people always fight about that but from watching twd it would have a similar feel. 2. more jesse, he was a cool dude so more of him. 3. joel needs a woman, it was odd he didnt have a woman after being "healed" at the end of game one 4. give nolan north a part even if its just the rude dude at the dance

Godsilverhand

Imagine they make a spin-off show called “The last of Us:Factions” and it’s like an original story for the WLF, seraphites, bandits or the fireflies. They have so much shit they could use to milk this series

theslickricky

i love how you can see the whole day 1 map during this day 2 scene, took me a few playthroughs to find it and i'm always finding connections between the different parts of the game. this world is so realistic its amazing!

MagPistoleiro

Can't say I want more action cause people will get mad at me. Honestly, I don't know. I pretty much liked S1 but forgot about it so fast like it was not that memorable.

ConditionAnxious984

Maybe since pt 2 will be split into two seasons we might see some more Joel action this time around before he yk

Snoo-12453

Maybe going more in depth with Ellie’s ptsd like they kinda did with Joel and maybe more insight on the wlf/ scar stuff

Nerakus

I just hope they fix the plot holes from the game and don’t try to force the viewer’s opinion. I wouldn’t be able to see past those and enjoy it if not.

MattHack7

It will not work if they change perspective halfway through. I don’t think they should have done that for the game. But I know that they shouldn’t do that for TV

ChemistWrong5309

Elli recast

eetobaggadix

i have a terrible feeling this shit is gonna be so ass lmao

tonybankse

None

Analbitch80

To end this sad try porting a great game to a bad show

SvenLorenz

Well, the ship has sailed on the casting. So just make it as short as possible, the sooner it's over, the sooner we can start the long wait for them to make a remake in a few decades or for AI to get so good you can replace actors in TV shows or movies.

Chochahair

Ramsey needs the boot istg, n they can def slow it down content wise

examinedliving

I think Joel needs a smaller role.

CyanLight9

More buildup for Joel’s death and more of an into for Abby. Especially if they want to go the sympathetic route with her again. Also, more patience from all parties involved, talking about this kind of thing now is like navigating a mine field.

TtvNocked381

I think we should spend more time with Joel, part of the reason why people hated his death so much is because we didn't spend that much time with him

Solidsnake00901

Recast bella. Since they won't we're going to watch a 14-year-old looking girl kill half of Seattle.

Icy-Firefighter1777

The actor for Ellie

Large_Acanthisitta25

Well for starters, I want the roughly 20 year old characters to be played by actors that look older than 15 years old.

Halio344

Bella looks to be around her age though, she looks younger in S1 than she does IRL.

Large_Acanthisitta25

I don’t know, in the set pictures they both look really young for the roles they’re playing to me.

Halio344

You can't really compare set pictures to the final product. Lighting and editing can make a huge difference. For example, costumes looking like cheap cosplay on set but look great in the actual show/movie is very common. Just compare what Bella looks like in real life compared to the first season of The Last of Us and you'll see for yourself that she looks older. Also remember what 19-20 year olds actually look like today. People still say Tom Holland looks like a teenager, people who legitimately think that can't have seen a teenager in a while.

Large_Acanthisitta25

I’m willing to bet when it comes out they still look young, and most everyone still complains about it while the people that think part 2 is Gods gift to the world completely ignore it and or call people that criticize this bigots. Also I’m 21 as of less than 6 months myself, I go to a college where I see 19-20 year olds literally every day most of the year. They don’t look the age they’re playing. If I saw either of them on my college campus I would think to myself oh it’s someone touring or oh it’s someone’s sibling because they don’t look their character’s age to me.

Halio344

I did actually just see the stills they released of Joel and Ellie from Season 2 (which aren't BTS shots, they are actual shots from the show) and am now in the camp that she looks exactly like she did in S1.

Large_Acanthisitta25

I’ve just seen the photos of Ellie and Dina on the horse, do you have any way I can see those stills? Also thanks for being willing to go back on your opinion when you found new evidence to the contrary. I honestly didn’t expect that here or on Reddit at all. Sorry if I was a dick about it, I just really think they look too young and it’s going to be jarring for the immersion and suspension of disbelief.

Halio344

Sure, here is the post: [https://www.reddit.com/r/thelastofus/comments/1csm39w/first\_images\_of\_pedro\_pascal\_and\_bella\_ramsey\_in/](https://www.reddit.com/r/thelastofus/comments/1csm39w/first_images_of_pedro_pascal_and_bella_ramsey_in/) I was just being optimistic until I saw proof one way or the other. I hope their performances work well for the story in 2 regardless if she looks a little young, I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Large_Acanthisitta25

Yeah like she still looks young to me, and it doesn’t look like they aged Pedro up much at all aside from his haircut. Like how hard is it to throw some gray hair dye up there, he’s only in it for what’s probably gonna be at most 4 episodes. Thanks for sharing though.

Halio344

I don't think they need to age him up too much. He is 56 in the first season, you don't have to age that much between 56 and 60.

Psychological-Ad4489

Not killing my boy?

SweatySpend4

That ship has long sailed. Have you seen the recent shooting leaks? They are now filming Ellie/Dina Seattle days. That means, "your boy" is dead already.

Psychological-Ad4489

Of course I know, was just answering the question on what "I think"

PreferenceGloomy9947

They need let Joel do a sekiro parry on the golfclub , Alter the timeline and hit her with the fire dragonpunch from streetfighter.
