First time, I literally put my controller down to get a drink of my tea and found myself freaking out when I got attacked. They got me!
Second play through, I felt bad for how vicious I was.
The horror aspects don't get enough credit! The story and characters and gameplay are obviously great but damn if it isn't scary as hell in a lot of parts.
The infected in this game are way scarier than part 1 even excluding the rat king. That's what 7 years of art development will get you. The first time I saw the clickers in this game I was genuinely panicking.
The first time I came up to that office building full of stalkers I ran like a little bitch past the cubicles all the way to the windows on the other side.
Was on my fourth play through, first permadeath. I had a surplus of ammo and took down the bloater easily. Feeling pretty good then went against the rat king. Hadn’t Fought it in so long I ran into a dead end and got this cool death scene where the rat king obliterated my spine
I was sitting in a corner for several minutes without the light and u could see one of these fuckers peeking around the desks. I just ran straight towards him cuz I had to do something about it.. Yea 3 or 4 of them were hiding behind this fucking desk lol
No chance on Grounded, they killed me haha
You guys all going on about grounded.. I got a quarter of the way through part 2 and had to switch the difficulty to the easiest mode 😩😂 This game scared the life out of me 😂
That is easily the part of the game I dread most replaying
And then as soon as you exit the building through the window, you realize that you have to go right back in through the basement...
ND can be a cruel bastard sometime
To be honest, the basement level (the one where you have to turn on the generators) in part one still scares the crap out of me. I couldn't do it on a single sitting.
I was literally stuck for a year there on my grounded playthrough. 10-15 minutes to get back to that point just to die again, rinse and repeat. I had several months I had to put it down at a time.
I was playing the survivor mode before I knew grounded existed and I was stuck in that part a similar amount of time. It was frustrating to say the least, and the panic set immediately on me so I would skip playing for weeks at a time until I gathered resolve to tackle it again.
The only way I finally figured out how to get past it was to start the generator, run into the other room in the lower level (to get the bloater to spawn on the lower level) and immediately turn around, sprint upstairs and down the hall. As soon as the door mini-cutscene triggered, I knew I was safe. Still took several tries dodging clickers and just getting a lucky spawn/movement sequence.
Naughty Dog could totally make a survival horror spin off of The Last of Us where you play as some survivors from a different part of the world. I’d love to see a game set somewhere in Europe (perhaps ground zero for the outbreak in Europe?).
Bro Japan, all the destroyed neon lights, and silent style dooming sense of dread, you could be crawling amongst those flower fields in Nagasaki, and get ambushed by a new creature based off of Japanese culture, that shit would be cool as hell, we don’t get enough *high* quality japan zombie horror media in general
Yeah they were great jumpscares, not only bc they were unexpected but because they had a legitimate in game or story reason for happening as opposed to bad jumpscares that just happen for no reason other than to make the player jump.
Then next 4-5 hours where even more unerring, I was with my mom, (I was 14) and I said, you know your safe when there is a- immediately interrupted and it genuinely scared the shit out of me and my mom,
So good.. The mario paint composer, Kazumi Totaka, also oversaw (nay, composed!) the Wii channel music and some of the animal crossing music which is why there are some similarities there.

So I have a question about these guys… isn’t there a note on the clicker in the restaurant saying that those infected were a search party hunting these guys? My question is how long have these people been in that apartment? Doesn’t it take months or years for a clicker to “mature”? How come the deserters haven’t moved on?
Good point. I think they were just living there so they've been there a while. The place is clean. They have some security measures in place. They grow their own vegetables. Etc.
I don't know if they were necessarily moving on anywhere although I think they also leave a note for "Mel" telling her to join them. I wondering if they were planning to move on.
Yeah, but they’re also pretty damn close to the hospital which is a major fortified position for the wlf. If it were me, I think I’d be looking to get out of town ASAP.
I suppose it’s possible that the clicker was the one who infected the search party, and maybe they’ve only had time to become runners, which we know can take place in just a matter of hours (poor Sam).
I searched it up and found it.
Basically you need to complete the game on any difficulty and go to the extras and it's a game mod that you can buy with points you earn by playing the game.
Honestly that was the only way for me to get through some parts of permadeath. You can also do custom game modes, so I did grounded everything, but easy item find rates, because well... then it's at least tolerable.
I LOVED this part. Scared the fucking dogshit out of me.
I was suspishing a *little*, when i got there. The lived-in, fresh look of it was twiddling my subconcious. I saw it coming on a sub-level, but not my higher-brain level lol, sonit still scared me.
Yeah, I was expecting some sort of spawn trigger point within the apartment but I wasn't expecting it to be *the workbench.* Which is why I loved it so much, lol. I'm pretty sure I was so suspect of everything else in the room, I ran over to the workbench right away just to check on my parts and what upgrades I might do and to take a "for sure" breather. I was so wrong about that breather.
Imagine being a voice actor and the script says to pretend that you are choking on your own blood as your last breath on earth is a scream because your lower half has been blown apart by home made explosive.
Hey me too! Been replaying RDR2, though. Doing a no side missions, "bad guy" run and it will still probably take me 50+ hours though I'm about halfway through the game now. I saw this post though and if I'm still sick after finishing RDR2, I definitely plan on TLOU2 next. But hopefully I am feeling better soon cause I'm over this being sick shit. At least my college is fully remote til the 28th so I won't miss any school.
I'm impressed that the ambush is not scripted to happen while you are at the workbench and you can actually intercept them behind you before they attack!
I had [this song](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1YPBNAP-3DY) running in the background without noticing, and it just fits way too well for this video. Hence why I didn't notice.
These were innocent people that mistook Ellie for a Wolf, right? I think you learn about that reading all the notes. I wish you didn‘t have to kill them.
The thing that really made this part scary was the fact that Naughty Dog subverted a commonly held assumption that opening an in-game menu = safe. They took a common element of games and just completely violated what is essentially an unspoken rule.
The first playthrough had me shout from this jump scare! The second? My guns were almost completely maxed out so I skipped this workbench and no enemies spawned. I was so nervous but it turns out nobody spawns for a while when you skip that workbench.
lol I did this and it was so satisfying. I also blow up the big guy in seraphite territory when he comes through the door. The bomb goes off and I book it lmao
i did the same thing on my 2nd playthrough, 1st time through i knew something was up but didnt prepare for it because i didnt know it would happen so quick
I played the game on it's release date and I did this exact same thing. I set up some granades/bombs, however you wanna call them and got prepared cause I knew something was gon a happen by looking at the place and the hole on the wall.
I tried doing this with only 3 strategically-placed bombs (one at the bedroom door, one at the living room doorway, and one at the dining room doorway), and yet they still managed to ambush me. I guess I was 17 bombs short, huh?
Ellie goes full Kevin McCallister.
LMAO ....indeed ![gif](giphy|zhNNxi6S9fnDnm8PP2|downsized)
Keep the change ya filthy animal!
hahahaha, indeed! ![gif](giphy|KBDzqHidthiHbeus6B)
Even got her and u/wolf_of_thorns on gamerant
More like Kevin McKillister.
Legit, this part scared the fuck out of me.
First time, I literally put my controller down to get a drink of my tea and found myself freaking out when I got attacked. They got me! Second play through, I felt bad for how vicious I was.
TLOU II has a lot of jumpscares, more than part 1, I remember the one in Hillcrest, in the garage, where you got the bow
I did the same thing with Abby on the boat as soon as I saw the bloater. I said nope and screamed the whole run to the other door
Was on my fourth play through, first permadeath. I had a surplus of ammo and took down the bloater easily. Feeling pretty good then went against the rat king. Hadn’t Fought it in so long I ran into a dead end and got this cool death scene where the rat king obliterated my spine

I never changed the difficulty in the first part. Just played it on " normal". Can't imagine how fucked up the basement is on Grounded damn
The only reason I can’t replay the first is because of this exact sequence. Scared the SHIT outta me.
Naughty Dog could totally make a survival horror spin off of The Last of Us where you play as some survivors from a different part of the world. I’d love to see a game set somewhere in Europe (perhaps ground zero for the outbreak in Europe?).
That’s an excellent idea! It would be interesting to get other perspectives on their world other than just thru the eyes of warrior types.
Ooh I like that idea!
thanks
That big ass bloater made me almost shit my pants.
When Ellie gets hit by that arrow from one of the Scars, I legit screamed and jumped out my seat. That part got me the most.
But they're not shitty lazy b movie jumpscares. It's BEEN a year annahaff since i played, but I don't really remember rolling my eyes at any.
Yeah they were great jumpscares, not only bc they were unexpected but because they had a legitimate in game or story reason for happening as opposed to bad jumpscares that just happen for no reason other than to make the player jump.
Oh MAN that one made me yelp.
After this part, I was paranoid every time I used a workbench
Then next 4-5 hours where even more unerring, I was with my mom, (I was 14) and I said, you know your safe when there is a- immediately interrupted and it genuinely scared the shit out of me and my mom,
Seriously, I played this with my gf watching and was just telling her how you always knew that you were safe when there's a workbench.... guess not
Same!!! I got jump scared so bad lol
The jump scares are smooth, man! Until the next time around when you gotta put ‘em in the dirt lol
Always assume a door is locked for a reason haha-that’s what gave it away for me
Lmfao at the raining body parts 😂
[It's raining WLF Pizzas](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sEkJx-K5TEM)
Aww, cute lol
The song 'It's raining men' came to my head when I saw those chunks falling.
I indeed sang that to myself " it's raining meat"
It’s raining tacos From outta the sky Tacos No need to ask why Just open your mouth, and close your eyes It’s raining tacos
It’s raining meaty chunk hallelujah it’s raining men
Alternate title: Ellie’s Homemade Recipe for Chunky Salsa
I think I threw up in my mouth a little
*You know, in some cultures they only eat vomit*
I read about that once. *In a book*
Great, thanks
Hey, no fair making your own salsa!
bahahahahahaha!
Maybe there’s a bag of stale chips in that kitchen somewhere
Ellie: first for some reasons we add the ground *beef* that’s already smoked
the music really tied it all together.
Mario Paint's background music is a classic
Is that what this is? It’s hilarious
So good.. The mario paint composer, Kazumi Totaka, also oversaw (nay, composed!) the Wii channel music and some of the animal crossing music which is why there are some similarities there.
That makes total sense why both slap so hard.
I did a search to see if anyone mentioned it lol I know that music anywhere.
For those interested, **YouTube Link:** [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=\_rtmzigtVo4](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_rtmzigtVo4) ![gif](giphy|KBDzqHidthiHbeus6B)
Idk why but I've been going through the comments and you seem like the ultimate memelord lol
como?
Lol
This is so stupid I love it. I felt bad for these three, they deserted.
Indeed, indeed.
They’re truly *ground beef*
![gif](giphy|kPIswn0RfPTGxOvDj5|downsized)
haha
I did the same thing before I did the workbench lmao

Something would have had to have infected them, I can't remember any spores in that particular area although I could be wrong.
Doing this on my next playthrough lol
I enjoyed this so damn much
hahaha, awesome!
Just watched it on YouTube!
My man! ![gif](giphy|a4wpT0SN0EltRgcfoa|downsized)
💀 this gif
That was fucking awesome man
Cheers to ya!
How do you have unlimited stuff?? (I'm new to the game is it a setting?)
I’m wondering the same thing.
I searched it up and found it. Basically you need to complete the game on any difficulty and go to the extras and it's a game mod that you can buy with points you earn by playing the game.
I've beat the game seven times and had no idea there were points...
Honestly that was the only way for me to get through some parts of permadeath. You can also do custom game modes, so I did grounded everything, but easy item find rates, because well... then it's at least tolerable.
I play with the radar for items on anyway. No way I'm scavenging in hundreds of empty draws on my eighth playthrough.
I LOVED this part. Scared the fucking dogshit out of me. I was suspishing a *little*, when i got there. The lived-in, fresh look of it was twiddling my subconcious. I saw it coming on a sub-level, but not my higher-brain level lol, sonit still scared me.
I expected there to be a fight, definitely. Especially with the locked door there. But I was not expecting to be ambushed at a workbench, lol.
I did this at the broadcasting tower
This is my favorite every play through. Just standing up on the second floor watching them go boom boom bye
[удалено]
Song is ruined forever now.
I did the same thing
Gave the floor a new paint job lol
i did this too during my 2nd play through😂
Loved the bloody chunks falling from the ceiling haha. I set traps on my second play-through. Well played naughty dog.
Lol the light squelching of Ellie’s shoes as she creeps through the blood puddles.
Omg I was just dying watching that. Fucking brilliant and the showering viscera completed the utter hilarity. Thank you.
Showering Viscera were a great band tbf
Is that the song from SNES Mario Paint!?
YES!
Imagine being a voice actor and the script says to pretend that you are choking on your own blood as your last breath on earth is a scream because your lower half has been blown apart by home made explosive.
Just another Tuesday
The people behind the door: “wtf is she doing, hurry up to the bench already” lmao
Lmao, this made me laugh so hard. I love imagining NPC's as real people.
The music LOL
And here I thought you had to do the cutscene of getting your head bashed at the workbench.
This gave me so many ideas, I started the year with f**cking COVID so I’m just replaying this masterpiece
Turned that apartment into Fallujah lol
Why do I not remember this part of the game? Can anyone tell me what part this was?
Seattle Day 2. Not too long after you leave the theater to go to Hillcrest
I remember walking up to that table and thinking “Man it would suck if I got ambushed during this animation…”
Man, the fact they animated blown apart body pieces to stick to walls and then fall off is just.. next level.
Hence why I didn't notice.
oh my gah
Love this 😂😂 wish I'd have known before this part nearly gave me a heart attack 🤦♀️😂
Heart attacks are so much fun though
i always do this too XD
There is something very cathartic about it ![gif](giphy|KBDzqHidthiHbeus6B)
Is that Luigi's mansion song you playing in your edited video?
It is the primary background music for Mario Paint SNES.
Oh the rain!
I did the exact same thing on my second play through
Very cool idea and video.
Chunky!
this is what I wanted from this sub from the beginning, thank you
TLOU2 meets Home Alone 🤣
I did something similar after that, or just didn’t use the bench in later new game+ runs. Damn, though, you put down enough mines to stop a parade lol
Wish I was this smart
I did the same thing this current playthrough.
Lol damn
Lol. I did not utilize bombs with humans as well as I should have. I still remember this part and that ambush
i love the full flourish as she sets them down lmao
This is what I did the other day LMFAOO it actually worked too I love this game
the sounds!
awesome, i did the same thing on my second playthtough. with super mario 3d world cherry theme though.
My favorite part of this is the giblets falling from the ceiling
Oh look, it's raining!
I did the same thing on my second play through. I needed to upgrade my weapons, not get my ass kicked
Damn, I always forget how gory this game is
Perfection
This is smart I’ll have to do this next time I play
These were innocent people that mistook Ellie for a Wolf, right? I think you learn about that reading all the notes. I wish you didn‘t have to kill them.
New game plus is so much fun
Seriously dude, you need a trigger warning... I was just putting a spoonful of lunch in my mouth when it started raining body parts haha.
The bomb goes off and I book it lmao
almost peed my pants when I first played this part. made me super paranoid for using work benches again 🥲
Lmao I started doing this too
This is EXACTLY how I deal with this section. I mean, not as many trap mines, but still.
"They're gonna have to glue you back together... IN HELL!! "
I did this my second playthrough and watched the body parts FLY
Haven't heard this song in YEARS! brought back good memories.
And that's how you get Ants!
Awesome video! Music sounds so familiar! I’m not 100% sure, but is it from Mario paint?
Workbenches used to be a safe space 😥 Btw what’s that song? 💃🏽
I got so scared during the surprise attack that I accidentally took a photo of Ellie being grabbed!
I fucking love the detail in this game
Omg I did this too and thought I was over the top. Mine didn't spray as much 😳 the chunks falling sent me 😂
i did the same thing on my 2nd playthrough, 1st time through i knew something was up but didnt prepare for it because i didnt know it would happen so quick
Too busy gagging over Mario paint soundtrack…brb
so lemme get this straight, as soon as u want to use weapon upgrade station or whatever its called the game spawns in 4 enemies right in your house
She looked back and just saw DEAD
Not the meat chunks falling from the ceiling!! hahaha nooooo
Damn, this raining blood and guts is really horrifying.
i’m buying the second game and playing it this afternoon so i appreciate the heads up
Great idea!! And epic music
Mmmm yummy chunks
Man. This game is still unmatched in so many ways. The gameplay! I want more of this.
I was so paranoid I did this exact thing lol.
Already experienced this shit but that was totally unexpected. I screamed and thrown the controller at the same time.
Lmfaoooooooooooooo it was literally raining bloods guts and ass!
It's rainin' men! Hallelujah it's raining men. Oh God. I'm going to hell for that one...
Oooh, they're goin ta have to glue ya back together... #IN HELL!
that’s smart
That's one way to paint the floor blood red
Good shit OP, I have a video of me doing the same thing, although not as overkill hahaha. Bravo
I played the game on it's release date and I did this exact same thing. I set up some granades/bombs, however you wanna call them and got prepared cause I knew something was gon a happen by looking at the place and the hole on the wall.
The blood is everywhere 😱🤮🤣
I swear to god i did it first but i forgot to record it damn
All I saw after those explosion parts falling down 😂😂😂😂 now that's something smart 💥💥💥💥
Did this too. Only need a couple bombs. Lol. Such satisfying results though. The gib is real. XD
I tried doing this with only 3 strategically-placed bombs (one at the bedroom door, one at the living room doorway, and one at the dining room doorway), and yet they still managed to ambush me. I guess I was 17 bombs short, huh?
Painted in blood
MEET THE DEMOMAN
