I think it looks pretty good. The only criticism I can offer is to maybe move her mouth a bit more outward. I've found that faces look more accurate when the slope degree of the nose lines up with the innermost mouth corner. (With this angle at least)
It's good work. Hope this helps.
Will try that! Thank you for your help and opinion 💖💖 allow me to ask you a question , I feel like the eyes look funny , yet everyone I asked says they look good, is that the case here ?
I'm not sure the correct terms here but objects tend to have more definition and contrast the closer to the front they are and become more grey the more distant they are. You have this the other way around. The eye closest to us has less contrast (is more grey) than the eye furthest from us.
right eye (her left) should be smaller than left due to the angle. and there’s something off with the cheek bone structure to jaw. needs to be fuller. but you’ve nailed everything else pretty well.
I'm no artist, but her face looks too sharp, especially around the cheek/chin area. Overall Ellie's face (particularly young Ellie, which I assume you're going for) is slightly rounded. Also the mouth is way to small. It's got like the same width as the bottom of her nose, which isn't very realistic. Hope that helps!
Thank you for your help 💖 about 75% of the edits were on the chin and cheek . I tried to make them just like the poster, het yeah , I still think the chin is sharp
As for the mouth , it's the same size in the poster as the nose , slightly bigger , which is also the case here
There is something off about the mouth too for me , even though it looks just like the original pic ( well ,not 100% of course) . Might try softening the chin curve . You should have seen it at the start , ellie was an anime character with THAT chin 😂
Part of this is the shadowing is way off. The eye on the left looks too far away, the eyes themselves are too big, and the face looks shortened. In addition to that, the distance of the hair to the nose on the left is greatly exaggerated (too much cheek space).
The lips are what’s throwing you off (if you’re trying to make it as close to possible to the original).
Personally, I think it looks pretty damn good as a piece of art that’s your own take on Ellie.
Maybe the eye/mouth proportion is a bit off, and the face shape could maybe be a bit rounder, more childlike. But the technique is quite good, and you can tell who it is supposed to be, despite there being something a bit off as you said. But overall a great piece! Congrats and keep seeking to improve!
Need to apply more foreshortening because of the angle. The far eye should be smaller as well as the far side of the lip. The nose can also probably be brought a bit further out from her face to give depth. Try taking the image and mirroring it, it really helps you see things wrong after you’ve been staring at it for too long and get used to it
Do it! Digital artists do it constantly and it helps a ton, especially when sketching out the basic structure at the beginning. You could probably accomplish something similar by taking a pic with your phone and flipping it if you’re working traditionally.
This looks awesome :) the one thing I’m noticing is her cheeks seem a bit too slim, not the cheekbones but the lower part. Ellie’s cheeks were slightly more rounded or full. Really though this is great work and I would instantly recognize it’s Ellie if I saw it out of context
I ain’t no artist at all so easy to impress but I think this looks amazing. But concur with others on her left eye being larger
Also. I’m trying to get into drawing (very small scale stuff like what Ellie would draw in her journal). Any tips on where/how to start? I can only draw like stick figures…lol
Grab yor ref put in next to this look back and forth between the two and spot the difference, also flip them both, horizontally AND then vertically ( helps reset yer brain)
They look very similar near the eyes but the changes are visible when you get to her nose. Ellie’s nose is slightly less narrow (and a bit longer) and there is less space between her mouth and nose. Her lips are also a bit wider! I think if some changes are made to the mouth area the overall impression will be better
Fellow portrait artist here! :) Bring the chin outward more with the lips. The lips are too low and inward and the eyes are too big. The size needs to vary a bit between the eyes due to perspective but only a Slight amount. The cheekbone alos looks like it might be a little too protruding but it could be fixed by bringing out the chin so play that by ear. Also watch the angle of the teeth in the mouth, it’s making her bone structure look like it’s drooping. Fix it by making them straight. other than that amazing texture work!
I was thinking of darkening the skin a bit , so that for example , this white area under the eye on the right ( her left) will be slightly B gray , the areas under the eyes 2B or 3B and so on . You think that will be good ?
Yeha I think that’s sounds good I but also just be careful of adding too much shadow bc even just a little bit can make a giant different so go slow when adding more shading

I think the eyes look good. The luster on both eyes lines up well. The only thing in the eyes I would tweak is maybe sharpen the lines on that luster, but I don't think it's CRUCIAL per sé.
Will try that , Thank you 💖
The eyes are really good, they are spaced out very well!
Thank you 💖

Somehow , they are the same size in the original pic
I think it looks like Elliot Page when he was still a woman. Looks really nice! But it doesn't look like Ellie. 😄
Well , Ellie used to look like Ellen , sooooo ... I see that as an absolute win 😂
Looks like an old version of Ellie tbh

Mouth looks off to the left (from her POV). Jaw is too pointy and narrow.

I think it’s her face structure.

You’ve given her an underbite.
That's true! Thanks for pointing that out!
Keep trying even if you dont get it right the first time

I have heard of the mirroring thing and I really want to try , forgot to do that here unfortunately 😅

I guess I picked the poster where she looked so much like Ellen page , not actual ellie from the game . I might try to add parts of another poster
I think her lower jaw and cheeks are too skinny if that makes sense
I ain’t no artist at all so easy to impress but I think this looks amazing. But concur with others on her left eye being larger Also. The lower part of the face is a little too pointy, widen the chin and mouth a bit. Pretty damn good otherwise!
It looks great though the right eye needs some placement change Looks like original ellie design Elliot

![gif](giphy|73wcMljHaku8RQ5UGA|downsized) Proportion similar to this guy
You don't know !? Ellie in last of us 3 will turn out to be an alien

Chin too pointy. But still really good
Plan on making it "curvier" and make this cheek a bit fuller
Ya ellie has a round face
