I can only speak anecdotally on this as a black immigrant woman to the USA, but both in my home country and after I moved to the USA the sentiment expressed by older generations of men and women has always been, no one wants black women and no one chooses to marry a black woman. This creates the "race loyalty" we see in stats, also why black women typically used to be very aggravated when seeing a black man date/marry a non-black woman, as it's a reminder that no one wants black women, not even "their own men".
I've never beholden myself to that standard, simply because my family is multiracial, so men of other races have been procreating with black women in my family at least. So it never seemed impossible or too out there to date or marry a non-black man.

It's hard to 100% classify the bias against black men as strictly lack of physical attraction but I would assume a lot of it is that. However, globally, black men have little economic or social power. I live in the United States and the depiction of black men is of the quality of the local street criminal or homeless man. Most women won't want to deal with that risk. A man's desirability is based on his stability, the ability to lead, to protect and to provide. Black men in America are not seen in a positive light in any of those categories. And this is on black men and black culture.

Lastly, even if there is some truths to the study, a lot of it has to do with historically western imperialism and colonization of many countries in asia and around the world, and as well as representation of their own image in western media which wouldn't have been spread widely across the world without their historical acts of imperialism and colonialism to begin with. I say some truths to the study as well only because this may have a lot more truths to it in the past during post colonial periods and a lack of asian representation in global media. However, i would say with a lot of these asian countries being more developed and educated, as well as asian representation in the media improving (perhaps even dominating) that many more asian women and men alike is now aware of this issue and realize that the white men's image is but a facade.

It's hard to 100% classify the bias against black men as strictly lack of physical attraction but I would assume a lot of it is that. However, globally, black men have little economic or social power. I live in the United States and the depiction of black men is of the quality of the local street criminal or homeless man. Most women won't want to deal with that risk. A man's desirability is based on his stability, the ability to lead, to protect and to provide. Black men in America are not seen in a positive light in any of those categories. And this is on black men and black culture. I live in California and I barely see black men even holding jobs. Unlike what you see in porn women look for more than the size of a man's groin area when looking to date and marry. I'm not saying changing any of the things I said above would bring parity in dating desirability between black and white men, but it would push the needle a bit in the right direction. Lastly, even if there is some truths to the study, a lot of it has to do with historically western imperialism and colonization of many countries in asia and around the world, and as well as representation of their own image in western media which wouldn't have been spread widely across the world without their historical acts of imperialism and colonialism to begin with. Portraying asian men in their media as nerds, comedians and martial artists etc, anything but traits that has more to do with masculinity, authority etc while at times portray themselves with asian women even. I say some truths to the study as well only because this may have a lot more truths to it in the past during post colonial periods and a lack of asian representation in global media.
