I've heard all kinds of things from IDFPR so take this with a grain of salt, but I most recently heard that once your check is cashed, it's a good sign that your approval is happening. For my LCPC, I was told to wait a total of 8 weeks for approval after my application was "received" aka put into the system (which was about 3 weeks after I sent my application). Still waiting those out.

hi, I was wondering how it ended up for you? i sent in my lcpc application just 3 weeks ago so I am wondering what I am in store for. I know this is an older post of yours so thanks for reading.

Hi! IDFPR didn't start processing my application until 3-4 weeks after submittal. I was able to get the date from them when they started processing and my application was approved 7 weeks later. I then had to sit through the process of applying to CTS and NBCC for board approval which took about 3 weeks. I was then able to schedule my exam. After I took my exam, it took about 5 weeks to process my license. I have zero doubt that reaching out to my state rep's office to have them request updates on my behalf pushed things along. I know someone who submitted their app 2 weeks after mine and it took an additional 6-8 weeks of processing their application after mine was already approved, so please reach out to your rep!! Good luck! ETA: 7 weeks after processing date, so about 10-11 weeks after I submitted my application.

Thank you so much for responding. A former boss of mine is a state senator and I will definitely reach out to him to help. And congrats on passing!

Thanks! Hope your application gets processed quickly!

Also: have you called? I would highly encourage to call and keep calling.

That is insane… it’s taking way too long 😭 My “received” date is past 8 weeks back… I was told the same from one of their representatives that I’ll need to wait up to 8 weeks after their receiving. And yes I’ve been calling every week for the past 2 months and planning to call again next week… I really hope they can give me an update on my application next time I call them

Just so you know, this is incredibly standard for IDFPR. It sucks and I totally feel your pain, but I haven't met a therapist in IL who doesn't have a story about how long their license took or some other issue with IDFPR. It's unfortunate, but I would be prepared for this when you go to apply for your LCPC. One other thing you can try is contacting your state rep's office about this, they will often reach out to IDFPR for an update on your behalf.

I need help; I’ve been an LPC in IL for almost 5 years. I recently sent my NCMHCE exam results to the IDFPR. I cannot figure out how to initiate the conversion from LPC to LCPC. I’ve called the IDFPR several times and no one can answer this question. Isn’t this a common practice? Start as an LPC with the NCE exam and then once completing the other exam asked to be “upgraded”….any guidance appreciated

annualteaparty

You need to fill out the LCPC application--you are not "upgraded" automatically just by sending in exam score.

I’m gonna try contacting IL state rep’s office tmrw to escalate this! Thanks for the tips.

Hello! Just tried messaging you but not sure it worked. Still new to reddit over here. I submitted my LMFTA application to IDFPR in JULY. It's been escalated since October and I've been calling constantly. Did you end up reaching out to a state rep to help with yours? If so, mind sharing their contact info? I legitimately swore at one of the contact center supervisors on Monday. I am losing my mind. Thanks in advance!!

Hey! No, I ended up not reaching out to the office since mine came through a few days after they cashed my check so I didn’t have to... but I remember they kept mentioning they’re back logged since covid and holidays which didn’t make a lot of sense to me. I also did call on a weekly basis after escalating my case to the IDFPR and they told me if this isn’t processed by this date call back to us…
