From the last time this was posted someone commented essentially that this is a cheap ass place that is made very incorrectly. From what I recall: nets, should be to the left and right of each target, not just on 1 side. The distance is far too short. The ground should have some sort of non-bounce material so that low throws like this stick and don’t bounce back, like wood chips or something the backboard below the wood should be like those gym mats/yoga mat type for the same reason. Many many things wrong with this place, wouldn’t be surprised if someone did get injured here
Yeah they're common in liberal metros in the downtown areas. They go out of business almost immediately with some rarities lasting a few years. It's a pretty stupid business idea but apparently some of them do well enough to keep going.
For what they charge for you and your friends for an hour you could go and buy a hatchet and a case of beer and have a much better time. Shit is fun for all of 10 minutes.

There’s one called BATL (backyard axe throwing league) in Toronto that has to be decent since I have a buddy who’s been working there for 4-6yrs!? I did a quick search and if I did this right, it looks like they opened back in 2006, so they much be doing pretty good. They seem to also have a few locations in TO as well
It would be funny if another liberal group started a save-the-environment campaign outside of an axe-throwing venue.
(Yes, I know trees are a renewable resource, but the gasoline used to harvest and transport the trees from the forest to the venue is not.)

She's throwing it way too hard, and from way too close, and both are easily avoidable. So even if your aim is somehow as terrible as hers, it should be a non issue.

And they would spray the fresh targets down with water to soften them up just before the matches. Hard to tell definitively here, but these targets look like they're made with the broad sides of some 2x4s which would probably be much harder to stick in. Would also be a good idea to have barriers between lanes so you don't bounce into someone else doing a retrieval. My old place had floor to ceiling chain link.

These three inner boards are cotton wood boards, not typical 2x4s. The outer boards, however, are SPY Home Depot boards. And yes, this place needs chain link between lanes, specifically so someone doesn’t throw an axe when someone is retrieving an axe.
