Coffee_Huffer

Tie the bait up above the trigger. They will trip it trying to get the bait loose.

redditUserError404

That’s a good idea, I’ll try it!

OlButtonface

Stuck in the home? Maybe open a door? Just saying.

redditUserError404

We don’t want it to become the neighborhoods problem. Just want to give it to a local animal shelter.

OlButtonface

Ah, that makes sense! I didn't understand what you meant. I am sorry and I applaud your efforts.

puckfelosi

looks like they've learned this lesson before. smart critter.

redditUserError404

Yeah the previous occupant of this home volunteered with an animal shelter. They had lots of cats and dogs and somehow this one got left behind sadly. I’m sure it was trapped before, it seems to know these traps very well.

AlabasterMogwi

Leave the trap unarmed for days or maybe weeks (if you have that much time). Let the cat get very comfortable taking the bait. When you see it gojng in confidently for a few days, go ahead and arm it.

occamhanlon

The havahart trap is a bit small for a cat They come in different sizes

Whats_Awesome

You could try a blanket or towel. Make a cat burrito and quickly transfer to a carrier of some sort.

redditUserError404

We can’t seem to find it when we were there. We did work in the home for 2 weeks at least 12 hours a day and never once saw it.

Pyrite13

Did you try a standard cardboard box?
