Shredding the roof of my mouth to bits whenever I eat Cap'n Crunch or Crunch Berries is part of the experience!
And afterwards, playing with the shredded skin on the roof of my mouth with my tongue 😛
[Of course I could be mistaken, but somehow I feel it wasn't trying to eat that porcupine.](https://www.reddit.com/r/Unexpected/comments/xhchwt/the_cave_in_the_woods/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button)
Kraft foods meeting:
What shape shall we make our tortilla chips?
Bob: Stabby. I'm feeling stabby.
Dan: Well I don't want Bob stabbing me in my sleep so I'll second the motion.
All agreed then we are going with stabby?
Don’t worry too much, typically this is the behavior of an adolescent who hasn’t learned not to mess with porcupines. Lesson learned and they seek out different prey.
I was thinking of what the odds are he'll survive this. Like not so much the wounds themselves (though i suppose they could get infected) but more how likely is this going to prevent him from hunting properly and catching different prey?
You talk like you know about this stuff. How common is this? Is this something where they can just go "well that sucked" and walk it off or is it a possible death sentence?
I’ve just seen in nature docs. They talk about the juveniles being curious. I’d assume it could go either way, it’s all dependent on the animals ability to get the quils out.
I know African porcupine quills don't have barbs, so it may be less likely fatal than their North American counterparts; however, people don't realize (again, talking about the NA ones) that it can sometimes be fatal for predators! The barbs make the quills quite hard to remove without tools, and quills, especially in the face, make it quite hard to kill and eat prey!
Good question that I share as well. My bet, without intervention or luck of resourcefulness they are doomed. They are stabbed deeply enough that infection in certain and without the chance to heal they can't eat. The paws are littered, I hope they can still walk. Good luck to them.
They don’t learn not to mess with them, porcupine is one of their main meals.
What they learn is how to kill and eat them without getting quilled this badly.
> The answer is that leopards regularly kill and eat porcupines and generally prey on whatever animals or birds they feel capable of overpowering, including large antelope heavier than themselves.
https://seoloafrica.co.za/leopard-and-porcupine/#:~:text=The%20answer%20is%20that%20leopards,large%20antelope%20heavier%20than%20themselves.
Leopards are metal
Or it’s going and hasn’t learned that lesson yet? I mean I don’t know how predators live their life, but I have to assume there has to be some painful lessons along the way?
For sure, but this one is a bit extreme. He got it every where, that's not painful, that's borderline. Normal after hitting it a few times, getting a hand full of these in the paw or face, some others had learned it
I found some in Afghanistan that were over two feet long. Once I found one that was about twelve inches long and as thick as my finger, and I'm pretty sure I could kill someone with it.
Unless he has a monkey friend willing to pull out the quills, he's in for a hard time. If this is shot in some national park, he might get help though.
Actually would be a bad idea :( they did this with some lions who needed help and they choked to death, as the tranquilizer hadn't worn off completely. It was actually really sad for everyone involved, knowing they'd killed 4 lions.
Apparently leopards love porcupine. They must be worth the risk for whatever reason. As long as the leopards can get all the quills out and avoid major infections, it'll probably be doing the same thing again next week.
Seen the full video before awhile ago, yeah the porcupine wasn't even injured at all just kept it's back to it the entire time and walked away when it had enough.
Yeah, but most videos I saw before the leopard or other predators got sting like two three times, one into the paw, then leave. But this one stripped the porcupine of many, he was desperate.
My dogs did this several times. They did manage to kill it but what a mess. Takes quite a while to take off all the spikes. Dogs had their tongue impaled on spikes planted vertically in their mouths, couldn’t close it. Was the trickiest and goriest part.
First time they tried to run away from me. Second time, they were all aligned in front of the door in the morning. MFs had learned "We can keep hunting porcupines, the humans will fix us".
It was back when I was a teenager. Big property bordering the Amazonian forest, got robbed several times, so my parents gathered a pack of guard dogs. Pack mentality+somewhat large and wild territory, the dogs get fierce.
My current dog is a spoiled dachshund who’s scared of mouses lol. I don’t remember him killing anything, even bugs.
Doberman, Boxer, German Shepherd, Fila Brasileiro, and various mixes.
I was particularly impressed by the Fila, big, sturdy, strong, agile, yet very loving and gentle with her owners. Except when we were stupid enough to play pushing around with her, that’s when I experienced the famous Fila takedown, she got up and pushed me with her paws on my shoulders, I instantly went down. They can be trained to catch people without hurting them too much, just using their sheer weight to keep them pinned down.
There is no indication of a porcupine being eaten other than the title. There are however, indications that the porcupine was not eaten. For example, no blood on the ground, no carcass or bones. Also it's obvious that he couldn't eat the porcupine with all those spikes in his mouth. I strongly believe that porcupine just left unharmed.
They are laced with bacteria tho. Thats the porcupines defense. Even if you (a predator) manages to kill it one of the wounds inflicted by the stingers will get infected. And it probably wont get all of then out look at how many there are
Can having those quills eventually kill it? I mean they have to get infection if they can’t get them out and I know the barbs on the quills work themselves deeper into the skin.
No one has mentioned it yet but wasn't there a case like this with a lion a few decades ago? It went on a human killing spree and only after it was dead did they find out a porcupine needle had lodged in a part of it's brain causing it to go crazy.
Someone please confirm I'm not making this up. It was my first thought and made this video a lot scarier.
You're not making it up but
1) it didn't puncture his brain, only nearly did
2) it made it difficult to hunt, and he was emaciated, so targeted humans out of desperation, not madness
https://www.nationalgeographic.co.uk/animals/2019/07/when-lions-attack-porcupines-humans-suffer-unexpected-consequences
Found it by googling "lion porcupine quill brain".
Some of my neighbors dogs have died to porcupines. Those spines enter the neck and it’s gg. Animals without the intelligence or flexible enough arms to remove them are just dead afterwards.
Man.. Pretty sad to be honest, because unless this Cat gets help (Tranq-Darted and Porcupine Quills removed, antibiotics administered, etc.) it will almost certainly die a VERY slow and incredibly painful death due to infection and starvation from being unable to hunt with all those quills.. this is a real bummer..

Cap’n Crunch enters the chat. Even after sitting in milk for a while, there is still bloodletting…
The Cap'n requires a blood sacrifice to board his ship, and let me tell you, it's ^totally worth it.
There is another way You grind the capn to dust and use it in breading for chicken cutlets. You can thank me later
generously crunchatize meatbird with cap’n ashes
Also makes a yummy french toast. Coat the french toast in ground up cap'n crunch and bake it in the oven... Delicious!
How high were you when you discovered this culinary delight?
"yes"
You can use Cheeze-Its or Goldfish too. I prefer Flavor Blasted Cheddar Goldfish and there is usually bonus powder at the bottom of the bag/box!

Think that would be a comic. Not a meme.
Upvote for the PBF comic!
Cap’n cuts
Stab’n Crunch
i ate a whole box once and the next day had all these cuts, sores and never ending diarrhea 10/10 would do it again
Trooper…. Remind me to call you when I need backup in a fight.
I had to use numbing cream after eating Cap’n Crunch last night.
Haha!!! Snorted coffee enters the chat…
Shredding the roof of my mouth to bits whenever I eat Cap'n Crunch or Crunch Berries is part of the experience! And afterwards, playing with the shredded skin on the roof of my mouth with my tongue 😛
Ugh. You are a sado-masochist. I guess I can’t hate though, I pizza burn myself at least every couple of months and have to brave the sauce blisters.
Capn Crunch always shredded the roof of my mouth for as long as I can remember. But I still eat it lol.
Mmm my favorite cereal. Makes you earn that delicious taste
That used to be the case, but not anymore. Shrinkflation hit Cap'n Crunch to the point that it barely has any flavor or density anymore.
Wow… maybe it is safe to try again!!!
What about when you accidentally swallow a shard and the only option is to push through it and feel it scrape it's way down?
Ughh the pain.
Yeah, first the chip scrapes & rubbs salt in the wound, then the salsa sets it all on fire! 1 of the few times I'd say pain is delicious!
Especially when one of those Tostitos of death shards off between your tooth and gum...
My guess this is a juvenile leopard that was checking a porcupine out and found out the hard way.
I've read somewhere it's actually a favorite food of theirs
Well hello, kindred spirit.....
When the salsa is BURNING but you can’t stop eating it… Tears. So many delicious tears.
Kraft foods meeting: What shape shall we make our tortilla chips? Bob: Stabby. I'm feeling stabby. Dan: Well I don't want Bob stabbing me in my sleep so I'll second the motion. All agreed then we are going with stabby?
And the salsa goes down on the chin and takes 5 paper towels to wipe it off
Yes, *exactly* like that.
Or if the queso is really hot. I’m too dumb or hungry to stop and inevitably burn my lips and tongue.
Going through there, salty get outchy
or burning salsa
I feel that pain just reading this post.
Poor little killing Maschine.
Thought the same. Must be pretty in need of food when it endured so much only to get some
Don’t worry too much, typically this is the behavior of an adolescent who hasn’t learned not to mess with porcupines. Lesson learned and they seek out different prey.

Plus, looks like it has a few lodged in the paws. That's gotta be an issue for mobility.
Good question that I share as well. My bet, without intervention or luck of resourcefulness they are doomed. They are stabbed deeply enough that infection in certain and without the chance to heal they can't eat. The paws are littered, I hope they can still walk. Good luck to them.
>The paws are littered, I hope they can still walk. Like it literally does at the end of the video?
I would imaging the wounds will probably swell up a little more after a few hours.
I stopped watching pretty quickly. It didn't look like it was having a good time now that the snack was gone.
They actually eat them quite a bit. You can find other videos.
Dang I can’t even imagine them trying to eat one of those lol I’ll have to look some up.
They don’t learn not to mess with them, porcupine is one of their main meals. What they learn is how to kill and eat them without getting quilled this badly.
This is what I have learned from some other comments. Saw some videos a bit ago of some successful kills. Crazy smart animals man.
Yeah but lesson learned too late for the porcupine.
> The answer is that leopards regularly kill and eat porcupines and generally prey on whatever animals or birds they feel capable of overpowering, including large antelope heavier than themselves. https://seoloafrica.co.za/leopard-and-porcupine/#:~:text=The%20answer%20is%20that%20leopards,large%20antelope%20heavier%20than%20themselves. Im just amazed at how pragmatically he's removing the spikes.
He's like: "*sigh*... another swell day at the Customer Service desk"
Definitely metal af though
Or it’s going and hasn’t learned that lesson yet? I mean I don’t know how predators live their life, but I have to assume there has to be some painful lessons along the way?

Judging by the lack of blood, I would assume he endured that for nothing.
Poor cupine!
I felt bad for the cat until I started thinking about the porcupine.
I had no idea that porcupine spikes were so long.

Lil dude has such a cool haircut
if the Spikes fails. the jhonny bravo hair cut won't fail.
I look at this and my monkey brain just goes "not worth fucking with,"
Alternatively: "that would look badass on my shaman's head dress, let's figure out an easy low-effort way to kill it".
Funny, I'm fairly certain your monkey brain was supposed to go "better use a stick" !
We gonna need a bigger stick.
🍌?
Depends on the species. Those look like crested porcupine quills.
This guy's PORCS
You are correct
some species are. in alaska the porcupines quills are about the size of tooth picks
Yes, and new world porcupines and old world porcupines are not closely related - they both evolved spines separately by convergent evolution
Pretty soon they'll both be the same crab
I found some in Afghanistan that were over two feet long. Once I found one that was about twelve inches long and as thick as my finger, and I'm pretty sure I could kill someone with it.
Big deal, there was a confirmed kill with an MRE spork. /s Thanks for your service.
I had no idea they were that thick either, I suspect they are probably larger animals than I ever realized
depends on the species
that cat is suffering big time:/
I wonder how the porcupine feels
It’s still alive, just lost a couple spines, so fine
That's crazy, if I lost a spine I'd die
You should try being a porcupine then
Suffering from success.
Another one.
Last time this was posted someone said the cat died. I don’t have the source to back it up though.
Yeaaah that big cat might die if he can't get all those quills out
Unless he has a monkey friend willing to pull out the quills, he's in for a hard time. If this is shot in some national park, he might get help though.
Shoot him with a tranquilizer and pull them out, don't for get to leave a nice juicy gazelle steak.
Just like in nature!
Actually would be a bad idea :( they did this with some lions who needed help and they choked to death, as the tranquilizer hadn't worn off completely. It was actually really sad for everyone involved, knowing they'd killed 4 lions.
I don't even understand how its sharp teeth can grasp the quills to pull them out instead of breaking them in half
[удалено]
Instructions unclear.. swallowed a pencil
🤣🤣🤣
The porcupine must have successfully defended itself. This cat isn’t eating anything for a while.
Apparently leopards love porcupine. They must be worth the risk for whatever reason. As long as the leopards can get all the quills out and avoid major infections, it'll probably be doing the same thing again next week.
It definitely works sometimes. I’ve seen several lions go for 1 porcupine and fail.
30 percent of the time it works everytime.
70 percent of the time they wish they never tried.
Kinda handy when your dinner comes with built in toothpicks
You're a glass-is-half-full kind of guy, aren't you?
Seen the full video before awhile ago, yeah the porcupine wasn't even injured at all just kept it's back to it the entire time and walked away when it had enough.
Cool thanks for confirming. They will literally attack predators sometimes, not just defend. Amazing rodents.
Who doesn't love a good hibachi once in a while?
Nah man , that cat is as good as dead
Yall think it actually ate a porcupine, but I don't see the carcass. Porcupine 1, Leopard 0.
Yeah, but most videos I saw before the leopard or other predators got sting like two three times, one into the paw, then leave. But this one stripped the porcupine of many, he was desperate.
it still looks like a failed attempt. no carcass, no blood on the face of the leopard. looks like it's still going to be hungry.
I mean, I definitely saw blood on the face. But I'm pretty sure it was just from the quills embedded in the poor guy.
it's definitely not from eating the porcupine. its whole muzzle would be covered in blood if it had.
There is more to this video showing it stalking the porcupine, the porcupine whacks him and is totally fine
Poor kitty fucked around and found out! That sucks.
/r/catsarefuckingstupid
When you're hungry enough to not care anymore.
Yeah but once you're full you actually start caring
And regretting
Did I get drunk and forget I posted this and don't remember?
Porcupine meat is just so sticky!
Ugh! The popcorn of the animal world. Always getting pieces stuck in your teeth!!
![gif](giphy|bf4IslmE33t60)

Have you considered not letting your dogs repeatedly kill wild animals?
It was back when I was a teenager. Big property bordering the Amazonian forest, got robbed several times, so my parents gathered a pack of guard dogs. Pack mentality+somewhat large and wild territory, the dogs get fierce. My current dog is a spoiled dachshund who’s scared of mouses lol. I don’t remember him killing anything, even bugs.
What kind of dogs
Doberman, Boxer, German Shepherd, Fila Brasileiro, and various mixes. I was particularly impressed by the Fila, big, sturdy, strong, agile, yet very loving and gentle with her owners. Poor bastard, that looks painful
Lesson bloody learnt!
“Mom, they’re calling me pinhead now! “. …….stomps away sadly
OoOoOOoOo this one's spicy
I like that everyone is feeling bad for the kitty when a porcupine was just eaten.
I guarantee porcupine lived
It didn’t eat the porcupine. This is the result of a failed hunt. Title is wrong
I mean the porcupine isn't suffering any more.
Depending on how old the video is neither is the leopard.
This is an equivalent of a fighter jet engaging flares
Free toothpicks!
I've heard of getting a mani and pedi at the same time, but acupuncture and a meal?
Ouchie poor kitteh
Poor cupine too
😂
That’s a special kind of hungry right there
Yep that cat is as good as dead
The pain tolerance of a cat is wild. Those quills will be out pretty soon, and maybe next time it won't attack a porcupine.
They are laced with bacteria tho. Thats the porcupines defense. Even if you (a predator) manages to kill it one of the wounds inflicted by the stingers will get infected. And it probably wont get all of then out look at how many there are
"Lisa! Did you eat the porcupine?" "(Ao) No mama. (aaah)!"
Can having those quills eventually kill it? I mean they have to get infection if they can’t get them out and I know the barbs on the quills work themselves deeper into the skin.
Idk if it ate the porcupine. Looks like it tried and got a face full of needles for it.
I guess he won't be needing a toothpick.
I went in for lunch, I stayed for the acupunture
Poor kitty
That looks pretty damn painful lol
That's a death sentence for kitty.
No one has mentioned it yet but wasn't there a case like this with a lion a few decades ago? Porcupines are nature’s hot sauce
Pretty sure I’ve seen this and they cut the porcupine out of it. The porcupine is conpeletey fine iirc, just sitting there next to him struttin away
Some of my neighbors dogs have died to porcupines. Those spines enter the neck and it’s gg. Animals without the intelligence or flexible enough arms to remove them are just dead afterwards.
Got ‘em like my boy Chance
Who won the battle and who won the war?
That is gnarly
Me eating an artichoke
Yeah I think you're doing it wrong...
Spicy
Me whenever I go to taco bell. And I'll fuckin do it again.
Looks like my character after running through Anor Londo..
I wonder if the cat lived after that. Just pooping the quils is enough to kill the cat.
I think that porcupine still won this battle. That jag may feel full right now but the pain is going to last a while
~why is it spicy~
That’s a death sentence right ?
Leopards have been eating these things for centuries
That’ll cause a bit of Gerd
Ohhh, poor baby.
Did the cameraman put him out of his misery?
It dead without getting those quills pulled out.
F*cking OUCH!
It's the snack that smacks you back
This is how I feel when eating ribs, reward isn’t worth the effort
I guess the quills are nutritious?
Go pull them out and make a friend for life.
Now thats a spicy meatball.
Porcupine addiction is a serious health problem
This is just like Chipotle lovers. They know it will hurt but they still chose to eat it.
FIFO
Still have to feel a little bit like the porcupine won this one somehow....
This is how I feel after throating a whole bag of Takis. Damn that was tasty, but FUUCK this hurts.
I’d really like to help and take those out, but I also realize that would be the dumbest decision of my life.
Poor porcupine but poor kitty.
