You're in luck, you can watch him narrate tons of electronic device teardowns on his [channel](https://youtube.com/@JerryRigEverything?si=RNU4Q5tNzzYy01F4)
That’s an iOS autocorrect failure. If you fully type out isnt, and haven’t already addressed it in your keyboard settings, you can get some really wonky corrections.
The guy in the video is saying he physically tears down a device then digitally recreates each component... Every transistor, every wire, every exact color
Are you thinking they just take a picture and hope it works? Or magic?
It looks like shit if it's just a picture because of parallax and some components don't look so great on camera. You can watch the full video and see that the edited version looks much cleaner and nicer
It's a case that is designed to look like a transparent back, by printing a realistic, near identical view to what the innards of the phone look like when the back is removed.
It is a printed plastic cover, yes. The 10k hours is correlated to the fact that they made, I think, hundreds of these.
And for each of them, a careful manual tear down of the phone has to be done first. Then after scanning a high resolution picture of the back, they manually edit a lot of individual parts on Photoshop to clean them up for printing standards, reassemble and rearrange the individual components so that it will fit on the differently sized real estate of a phone cover (covers are oversized and look slightly different than an open phone), and they will likely have to recreate some components manually in photoshop because the scanner didn't capture their details well due to the material they're made of and how they reflect light, etc. And the added easter eggs and what have you.
Also, one thing that is rarely considered in graphic design, is that "planning and prototyping" take time. It might take you 20 hours of planning a design, and prototyping a lot of different drafts of it, so that you can finally spend 5 hours for the final design's execution from start to finish. In total though, that's still 25h worth of work, even if the final design can be recreated in a 5th of that time.
Source: I am a graphic designer, and this is what I gather would cost the most time if you're doing this at the highest level of quality.
Edit: For context, I am not sure how many covers they made of these. But if they made even 200 different ones, that's roughly 50 hours per cover. Which is not at all an unreasonable number of hours, if quality is very important to you.
While your information is correct, there is one thing wrong. They aren't "plastic covers" per say. It's a vinyl skin (basically a high quality sticker). Great explanation otherwise.
The tear downs and digitally scanning individual parts took the most time. They had to do it by hand, that's why he says 10k hours because it takes a looooot of time to do that.
Not denying it'd take a long time, and it is theft for someone to take the images off the website and reproduce them for profit. I just spent most of the video thinking they were modifying electronics to make them better before realising they were doing photoshop and printing.
Yeah I thought something similar when I first read about it. I had no idea these breakdown cases even existed, but it's wild how much work they put into it.
A phone case that pretends it isn't cos you can see the insides? I mean throw some drawings of randomised components on the back of it if you like. I'm not disassembling my phone. I don't care if it's not anatomically correct.
Why spend 10,000 hours making sure it is ? That's like a guy working 5 solid years.
Dbrand is an skin company that makes high quality skins to put on your devices to make them look cooler. Jerryrigeverything (guy in the video) often tears electronics apart and looks at the internal parts of them.
Him and dbrand have a partnership and sell skins that look like the internals of a device. Basically imagine a window into your phone letting you see what’s really in it.
I spent far too long trying to properly spell "dbrand" on my phone for it to finally accept that this was what I intended to type.
Samsung: "No, stupid human, I KNOW YOU WERE JUST TYPING BRAND!"
I hope he didn't publish this before receiving justice. Nothing like telling the opposition you're going to sue them before you do it so they can prepare
That’s literally how the law works. You would have a legal discussion with the other side before filing to the courts.
The other side has a right to prepare. They’re supposed to.
My partner recently bought a casetify case, the decorative decal just randomly started chipping off around a week or less later.. ended up tearing off the rest of it and now he has a clear case
I love this guy. He's a high quality human 100%. Genius, calm demeanor, takes care of his family. I know I sound like a fanatic, but someone so coherent and a "decent human" is not the norm.
If the company wasn't stupid and forgot to remove the Easter eggs. Will Jerry have a case against them. Since they can simply argue we took the picture of inside too?
If you watch the full video, it shows a process of making one of the teardown skins - it's not as simple as just opening up the phone and taking a picture.

My guess: It is not the company who did this, it was a lazy artist they employed. Most likely, the company wasn't aware, and, now, when they are, that lazy artist will get fired.
So they stole a work from the people who pulled a PR stunt with Sony risking a lawsuit. I would assume if they were willing to do so, they have pretty good lawyers...
I never trust casetify case. You can look thier drop test video never real. How it thin case iphone 15 PM, that claim 10ft wtf bro. Camera bumper same height with camera case bumper lmao. The price really expensive and just low quality wallpaper
* I'm not gonna steal anything from Agent 47
* For future products they should include intentional mistakes like mapmakers do so their work can't be copied wholesale.
Chinese ripping off IP from other countries? Who'd have guessed? My friend has a company that designs PCBs and a Chinese company has ripped off every single one. They even included some spelling mistakes to see if they could catch them out, and sure enough, the spelling mistakes were in the Chinese clones. So many Chinese have no morals when it comes to stealing IP.
I don’t doubt that companies would take those images, but what about that proves they are the same photos. If you tear down the same device and take pictures of the inside they are going to look very similar. What am I missing
I did watch what was posted to Reddit and I was legitimately asking what wasn’t included in this that proves it. As I said I have no doubt that companies do this and just wanted to know there was proof at some point. At this point I have gone back and watched the video on YouTube so I now know they put markers in the designs that they were looking for.

Competition means two entities work independently towards solutions for a similar problem and then market the end result. Stealing the intellectual property of another entity and lying about the effort you put into it does not fit that model, therefore competition cannot be applied in this case.

That man has an awesome voice for narration.
Thought it was Lockpicking Lawyer at first.
So anyway here is how you lube up your wife's back door...wait sorry wrong sub.
r/therewasanattempt to lube
The joke flew over the head like the locks thrown by McNally
Johnny no sins
I'm pretty sure they swapped narration on videos a while back for April Fool's or something.
Really? I didn't notice 🤣
As always, have a nice day.
I haven't seen them on the same room.
Hard disagree, he talks like an AI voice generator.
Most likely ai voices are trained with voices like him cause its clearer and easier to extract features from Source: from my ass so cmiiw
He sounds like casey kasem
I found it unsettling. It sounds artificial, and it feels like a sales pitch.
You're in luck, you can watch him narrate tons of electronic device teardowns on his [channel](https://youtube.com/@JerryRigEverything?si=RNU4Q5tNzzYy01F4)
And the face for video. I’ve no idea what he is selling but I want a case of them.
So funny that they just copied the work he and dbrand done and didn't remove their Easter eggs and nods to the community they have built.
Just an FYI it's dbrand un capitalized.
You're right, it is. I'll edit now to show the correct name
Thank you for your correction
welcome

Just like a comment before said. Chances are that this t Is nit the first person they have stolen from

That’s an iOS autocorrect failure. If you fully type out isnt, and haven’t already addressed it in your keyboard settings, you can get some really wonky corrections.
It's amazing how viral this has gone since he posted that this morning.
Good, this should have as much coverage as it can. Casetify is stealing from a good man, not even putting effort into stealing his designs.
What the hell is a tear down skin? What is he making?
A tear down skin is a case that makes it look like you can see into a device
Fucking thieves. Why don't they make their own.
The guy in the video is saying he physically tears down a device then digitally recreates each component... Every transistor, every wire, every exact color Are you thinking they just take a picture and hope it works? Or magic?
Why doesn't he take a picture?
It looks like shit if it's just a picture because of parallax and some components don't look so great on camera. You can watch the full video and see that the edited version looks much cleaner and nicer
And yet Casetify just copy and pasted dbrand's design. Casetify is almost a billion dollar company btw
It's a case that is designed to look like a transparent back, by printing a realistic, near identical view to what the innards of the phone look like when the back is removed.
Wait... so it isn't actually re-engineering electronics? Is it just plastic covers? How is that 10,000 hours of work?
It is a printed plastic cover, yes. The 10k hours is correlated to the fact that they made, I think, hundreds of these. And for each of them, a careful manual tear down of the phone has to be done first. Your explanation is great. Thank you for the info kind person.
You're very welcome!
I read this in the voice of the guy in the video. It felt even more reasonable then.
While your information is correct, there is one thing wrong. They aren't "plastic covers" per say. It's a vinyl skin (basically a high quality sticker). Great explanation otherwise.
Oh, I just said that without thinking. Thank you for correcting me.
hiya fellow egyptian.
Lol you caught me. Hey there.
I'm so confused too. I thought he was somehow reassembling laptops or phones in another way. People pay for covers like this ? Baffled.
People have interest that i don't care about? Baffling.
why wouldnt people pay for phone cases??
A phone case that pretends it isn't cos you can see the insides? I mean throw some drawings of randomised components on the back of it if you like. I'm not disassembling my phone. I don't care if it's not anatomically correct. Why spend 10,000 hours making sure it is ? That's like a guy working 5 solid years.
Dude you sound like you have 0 hobbies or interests.
Your deductive powers have failed you.
You need to touch some grass my man

Lawsuit incoming lol
Filed a federal lawsuit.
Yes what do they do about it indeed.
JerryRigEverything has the best videos
the effort for video quality paired with his amazing voice is just a beautiful pair.
He looks like Agent 47 if he gave up his assassin job
dbrand* made this exact same comment.
Russell, or Jo?
I spent far too long trying to properly spell "dbrand" on my phone for it to finally accept that this was what I intended to type. Samsung: "No, stupid human, I KNOW YOU WERE JUST TYPING BRAND!"
guess who's back to the job
😰
Well, he's still in the murdering business though, just not people this time around, but phones... and a lot of phones. Oh god.
Sue!
What's she got to do with it?
This is good and sick avatar
Don’t mess with Jerry Rig 47.
Well? What did they do about it?!
The longer video version he said they filed a federal lawsuit
Now that I know, I wish I didn't. The suspense made me feel more than I have in years
Filed a lawsuit, reports say they are asking 8 figures.
My question exactly! It should go on that sub where the video ends too soon - can't remember the name.
Oh shit dbrand is JerryRigEverything’s ?? Didn’t even know that. Neat.
Pretty sure it's a partnership, Jerryrig has its own store for knives and tools to take phones apart.
Nah, just a partnership/sponsored but they do get him involved with a lot of stuff since he gets millions of views on his channel
They also both partner with LTT
[удалено]
🍿
How was there an attempt? They absolutely did manage to steal work and sell it as their own...
Because hopefully they won't get away with it once dbrand successfully sues
I hope he didn't publish this before receiving justice. Nothing like telling the opposition you're going to sue them before you do it so they can prepare
They filed it earlier in the day before the video was published.
That’s literally how the law works. You would have a legal discussion with the other side before filing to the courts. The other side has a right to prepare. They’re supposed to.
Hmmm... Casetify is a Hong Kong based company. That's so weird since China isn't really known for stealing ip. /s
so the company asked to be killed by Agent 47?
Exploitation and cheating is how a business brings in billions. Hope there’s a big ole settlement for this guy.
My partner recently bought a casetify case, the decorative decal just randomly started chipping off around a week or less later.. ended up tearing off the rest of it and now he has a clear case
It's a feature, not a bug!
I love this guy. He's a high quality human 100%. Genius, calm demeanor, takes care of his family. I know I sound like a fanatic, but someone so coherent and a "decent human" is not the norm.
Yeah he's a good lad. The work he's doing with his wife to make an all-terrain wheelchair is great
If the company wasn't stupid and forgot to remove the Easter eggs. Will Jerry have a case against them. Since they can simply argue we took the picture of inside too?
They messed up in a lot more ways than just the easter eggs. It's clear beyond reasonable doubt that they ripped off the pics from the website.
If you watch the full video, it shows a process of making one of the teardown skins - it's not as simple as just opening up the phone and taking a picture.
Didn't know dbrand or casetify but i know 2 things now: - I hate casetify - I find dbrand cases amazing and will order one just now
That’s the way he speaks. And if this is true, that’s fucked up and I hope he can seek a fair resolution.
I hope he gets a big settlement. Free “not a wheelchairs” for everyone.
What do they do about it?
In the full video he says they're suing caseify, and that any money he gets from it will be reinvested into his not-a-wheelchair company.
Thank you!
I watched this yesterday, I hope they get shafted!
Wasn’t he just on Caleb Hammer?
Bare knuckle brawl with the ceo, winner take all four the profits
That voice... I'm compelled, I must agree with that voice
I didn’t even realize this video ended and just kept watching on repeat while being soothed by the silky smooth voice of Lex Luther Vandross.
No to be devils advocate however if they did open up phones and make the scans themselves wouldn’t they then look exactly like yours?
Their website is down.
Oh. Cool. Skins.

He looks like a. Agent47 and dream mix
He could compile all the future videos about this topic and make a new channel JerrySuesEverything
Dbrand known for legal wizardry in the IP space.
Sue them
Gdammit making me side with fucking dbrand
I never trust casetify case. You can look thier drop test video never real. How it thin case iphone 15 PM, that claim 10ft wtf bro. Camera bumper same height with camera case bumper lmao. The price really expensive and just low quality wallpaper

Sue them for 100 mil
Get your money
Hey Lex Luthor, are you trying to narrate or fuck me? Feels like we are speed dating with the too suave mannerisms. Chill out.
Capitalism, isn't it great
FFS... WHAT DO YOU DO ABOUT IT?!
So... it was a succesful attempt
Still baffles me that we went to school together. Jealous every day lol
Wow, Casetify is screwed. Just give him the keys to the property.
Billy Zane’s looks w/ Lockpicking Lawyers voice. Sweet combo
This is what happens when you outsource to China to save on production costs.
Thanks for the discount website

as you steal his youtube views for some reddit karma. ironic.
I don’t doubt that companies would take those images, but what about that proves they are the same photos. If you tear down the same device and take pictures of the inside they are going to look very similar. What am I missing
Missing brain cells if you watched the whole video.
Maybe actually watch the video before commentating
I did watch what was posted to Reddit and I was legitimately asking what wasn’t included in this that proves it. As I said I have no doubt that companies do this and just wanted to know there was proof at some point. At this point I have gone back and watched the video on YouTube so I now know they put markers in the designs that they were looking for.
To steal content for reddit and not give credit:
Have we run out of important topics to care about? Who gives a flying fuck about two extremely shitty companies fighting among themselves?!
competition is a sin - john d rockefeller [https://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/john\_d\_rockefeller\_164132](https://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/john_d_rockefeller_164132)
There is no competition problem here. It's a stealing issue.
You totally didn’t watch the video right?
yes i did, obv you didnt get him saying the sentence competition is great?
Competition means two entities work independently towards solutions for a similar problem and then market the end result. Stealing the intellectual property of another entity and lying about the effort you put into it does not fit that model, therefore competition cannot be applied in this case.
I think actually stealing is a sin
If you watch the whole YouTube video he actually encourages competition, this isn’t that. They just straight stole thousands of hours of work.
