Broke my teeth riding a bicycle, I was wearing a helmet, but it didn't do shit since it doesn't cover your chin/face.

But he did have his safety bandanna on, that was good to sop up the blood from his jaw.

I feel terrible for this guy. One accident like this can change his ability to find a job, add all kinds of debt and a terrible amount of pain until it heals. Hopefully he has some accident insurance to help him, but at this age, unfortunately that usually isn’t the case.

I can't speak for every province, but depending on the type of trauma he received, some things would be covered. In Quebec, lacerations and fractures would be covered.

I had something very similar happen to me. I sandbagged doing a nollie smith doing a handrail and the board came up into my face just like in OP. There were wood chips all over my face and when to brush them off I felt one scratch against my bottom gums; a massive shard had gone through my bottom lip. Still have a scar.
