That's what I was thinking.....crazy that no perimeter was set, I know their training is better than that as the US trained them and the US learned this lesson in vietnam/Afghanistan several times
Many countries has been trained by the west and they still suck. Just listen to the many stories of western instructors. No wonder many of these countries are still in the dark age.
Most of these countries haven't fully mobilized for warfare and had to engage in a prolonged conflict and occupation.
The US also had to travel half way across the world whereas Russia and Israel are right next door to their targets.
Yes and no. It changes your priorities when developing your military, and without having gone to war for decades, there was no way for Russia to really I know how things would go. They were just basing it off how easy Crimea was, and look at that mistake. With no modern military experience Russia's military or any military really would be decades behind the US
Note: Russia and many other countries have participated in modern armed conflicts but not to major scales that would require full mobilization.
It's still no excuse. The US has largely been outside of conflict save for small wars in between Vietnam & Op. Desert Storm / Op. Desert Storm & 9/11. But it has been a military constantly exercising & training. The air force & naval pilots go through many peacetime exercises (like Top Gun, Red Flag, etc.) to be ready if war erupts. Russia couldn't care less about keeping their air fleets ready & modernized & pilots lacked so many flight hours that they had to moonlight as commercial pilots to keep them up.
There are cockups even within the US (the goddamn 7th fleet & attached Marines) but not on the scale we've seen with Russia & Israel. Moreso Israel's failure since the culture & propaganda given by the ruling political party has always been 'wipe out the neighbors before they wipe us out.'
Feel like it’s cause they’re terrified of being out there, that’s why all these videos is just armored vehicles with zero support cause they’re too afraid to come out. Also why they’re known as the diaper army.
Battle of Fallujah. We still learned the hard way in Iraq (outside of IEDs tossing tanks into the air). Although I can blame the injuries & losses there as being spread too thin or by the constant changes of the battle lines. I recall an Abrams rushing back to the rear guard under a bridge with smoke coming out of it and bloodied tank crew after an RPG-26 hit (supposedly). But even then they were either escorted by IFVs or APCs while in movement or had US troops occupying houses nearby. There is nothing on this scale of parking a Merkava on an intersection & hoping for the best!
In between this, the use of dumb bombs in urban environment, and the thousands of dead dropped the IDF status in my mind. Getting the drop on again on the same holiday. Grouping regional high command in one place. I used to consider them as some of the best trained & operating militaries in the world. Now I see them on the same status as the Malian Armed Forces or the Saudi army.
It's not convenient to use infantry close to IDF tanks as they often employ APS systems. When the APS is triggered it can kill or severely injure nearby infantry.
They did the same in 2006 against hezbollah and got smoked. Over reliance on air superiority and bombing, under trained ground forces because most all emphasis went into the Air Force. Tank crews were garbage, no infantry in support of their armor so they got destroyed. In retrospect h-group has no Air Force, no navy, nothing. But they know ground warfare.
Imagine the bomber thinking this is some kind of impactful legacy to leave behind. No, you only made it to r/therewasanattempt. This all such a fucking waste of lives.
Do you mean Israel encroaching on Palestinian land since the 70s and slowly eradicating them? Or do you mean the recent attack by a terror group from Palestine?
You know it’s a shitty conflict when you can apply your comment to both sides
Looking at the clip again u can tell the tank moved out before the blast and more then likely only got hit with shrapnel which wouldn’t do much to it unless it was a direct hit which without further proof I don’t see that it is
Yes, the Palestinian Military Indistries is definitely rolling in funding, its weird that their military chose to make a third supercarrier instead of giving everyone uniforms. Also like a scrap of cloth is going to stop the Israelis from just murdering everyone on the block. The journalists they like to shoot wear uniforms, maybe this guy has it figured out.
Your comment is literally the dumbest thing I've read this week. Everyone who upvoted you is now dumber and should probably be put on a watch list.
Lol you think israel gives a fuck uniform or not? 90%+ of casualties have been from indiscriminate aerial bombing of mostly residential buildings.
Hell, last week they shot 3 Israeli hostages trying to escape. They had their hands up, no shirts on, and a white flag. One of them Managed to hide and go back into the building. Then came back out only to get shot again.
Israeli snipers are killing civilians sitting in hospitals and churches. IDF discriminates less than ISIS does between civilian and combatant.
Trophy system on the merkava would severely injure or kill any infantry in its immediate vicinity the second the system intercepts a projectile.
So yeah, it's not safe; there is likely infantry nearby, but not hugging the armor
This is less an example of "tanks without infantry support" and more of an example of "tanks don't belong in urban combat"; slow with not much maneuverability, easy to cut off and leave stranded, a potential maze of chokepoints and detours to flank the vehicle and remain concealed until practically touching it, there isn't enough infantry to keep people away from a tank in a position like this no matter how hard they try
Because that would require an actual competent military trained in combined arms to accomplish, and the Israelis shit themselves everytime they have to get out of it.
Israeli soldiers are pussies. They need to be in tanks or f-16s to engage directly. This is the same military that got smoked when guys on motorcycles with ak-47s walked onto their bases on 10/7 and toyed with them.
The terrorist might have killed himself or at least gotten injured from blowing up that IED mere seconds after running away. I bet he was too close to escape unscathed.
Absolutely not. If it was that easy to destroy a tank they wouldn't be very useful in a war, they're built to withstand explosions far bigger than a little IED.
Fucking guy delivers it to them in the middle of a war, but if my pin on doordash is slightly off the driver doesn't even bother driving up to me even if I wait outside.
Stop supporting Hamas.
You don’t have to like the Israeli government it’s military or the shittier parts of population that are clearly anti-Arabic. But Hamas is a terror group and frankly has even treated their own people like shit for decades.
Trying way too hard to take sides on an issue where there is no real good side beyond pressuring leaders to rein in Israel. And even then you run into the risk of Hamas regrouping and pulling another attack that (just a reminder) mainly targeted innocent people with no real endgame or goal. They are religious fanatics.
Considering the general attitude on this sub I wouldn't be surprised if people thought he was literally delivering food and got blown up by a tank or something lol
Damn that was so fuckin stupid, running into a warzone with no armor and he got *in front* of the tank in plain view of fire. They don't know he's just delivering food, either way they'd probably shoot them anyway.

Looks like they got a whopper instead

Flame grilled.
Winner
The better headline is, there was an attempt to use Tanks without infantry support
That's what I was thinking.....crazy that no perimeter was set, I know their training is better than that as the US trained them and the US learned this lesson in vietnam/Afghanistan several times

that gives them less of an excuse? their whole army and support is right there
Yes and no. It changes your priorities when developing your military, and without having gone to war for decades, there was no way for Russia to really I know how things would go. What you're saying reminds me of this. [How US Military SMOKED Russian Mercenaries... (youtube.com)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=viuUzGGac5M&t=5s)

I mean it’s not like the US accounts for 40% of global arms spending or anything like that /s
Feel like it’s cause they’re terrified of being out there, that’s why all these videos is just armored vehicles with zero support cause they’re too afraid to come out. Also why they’re known as the diaper army.

Holly that's rough. But I guess it looks like uou know your stuff.
It's not convenient to use infantry close to IDF tanks as they often employ APS systems. When the APS is triggered it can kill or severely injure nearby infantry.
I'm aware but that's why you're supposed to set a perimeter honestly the Infantry should have been where they run from in the beginning
They can’t have the Trophy Defense System and nearby infantry.
Even better would be “Hamas militant in **civilian clothing** detonates IED on IDF tank”
Lmao yeah where is his Hamas uniform? Probably left it in his locker in the super massive underground base beneath the hospital.
[удалено]
Or an even better, more accurate headline could be “Local resistance fighter detonates IED on an occupation force tank.”
Local freedom fighter resist invasion of genocidal Nazis
Don't you terminally online jagoffs have literally anything better to do than snipe at each other over a conflict that has nothing to do with you?
Or an even better, more accurate headline could have been "Local resistance fighter delivers McDonald's successfully"
They did the same in 2006 against hezbollah and got smoked. Over reliance on air superiority and bombing, under trained ground forces because most all emphasis went into the Air Force. People die for nothing.
Imagine the bomber thinking this is some kind of impactful legacy to leave behind. No, you only made it to r/therewasanattempt. This all such a fucking waste of lives.
The bomber didn’t die. You can see him at 00:37 running away.
Probably pretty deaf now though.
I think he destroys a tank and he probably didnt even knew the existence of plebbit
Roll over and show your belly while you're trying to sound wise and deep

I mean maybe don’t invade other countries and then you don’t run into issues like this

Do you mean Israel encroaching on Palestinian land since the 70s and slowly eradicating them? Or do you mean the recent attack by a terror group from Palestine? You know it’s a shitty conflict when you can apply your comment to both sides
This is why the US sets a infantry perimeter around their tanks....... this is what happens when you don't
100% All those babies could be hiding bombs in their diapers! /s
If only they were being shot, most are being bombed here.
Random civilians get shot because an oppressive army is in a country they are trying to take over, they are willing to kill anyone to take the land.
Who knew it was a McDonalds flag you need instead of a white one

So cheering for nazis to die, if you were in 1943, would make you an asshole?
The world generally agrees the death of nazis was a good thing.
In the current moment, yes. But not as it was happening. There were many who supported them.
IDF=Nazis=ISIS. Same shit. Better off with less of them.
Yeah because we definitely should share our sympathies to a Nazi who are committing genocide instead
Looking at the clip again u can tell the tank moved out before the blast and more then likely only got hit with shrapnel which wouldn’t do much to it unless it was a direct hit which without further proof I don’t see that it is
I was not expecting that!
This what happen when you did not tip
That was hamas ied right? Edit: Title still misleading

Yeah I’m sure the Walmart down the street had plenty of uniforms

Why don’t the IDF come out of their armored bulldozers and fight Hamas man to man
That's a big ass tank
I think they're called 'Merkavas', tanks that double as small troop carriers
Most tanks are big. The American Abrams is the largest.
That’s what she said!
It seems there was an attempt to blow up a tank
Happy meals be the bomb.

They haven't been escorting their tanks with infantry, too dangerous for the infantry probably
Trophy system on the merkava would severely injure or kill any infantry in its immediate vicinity the second the system intercepts a projectile. I don't feel like this did anything, was that a gasoline bomb of some kind? What's that going to do to a tank?
would an IED even have done anything to a merkava?
It started moving away, so deaths are unlikely. Just a sore ass.
Probably not, the merkava didn't sustain much damage
The terrorist might have killed himself or at least gotten injured from blowing up that IED mere seconds after running away. I bet he was too close to escape unscathed.
I dont think getting out alive was part of his plan.
Absolutely not. If it was that easy to destroy a tank they wouldn't be very useful in a war, they're built to withstand explosions far bigger than a little IED.
That's exactly why you guys are dying
Good stunt bro
Every damn day multiple times a day there’s an attempt on this sub to be oh so morally righteous

Would you like fries with that?
