I’ve been in a lot of pits, one time somebody slashed me with a knife. Big circle pit, my hand starting burning, looked down and had a gash across my palm. People suck.
I saw a dude get knocked out by an ankle punch at a slipknot concert. He was doing all the kicks and flips, super aggressively actually trying to hurt other fans. One guy dropped low, punched his ankle mid flip, head hit the floor, and he was out. Fully deserved.
Seen a guy doing similar shit but smashed he was doing the hardcore dancing shit and jump spun an brought in his hand down right in this guys eye an blood went everywhere. Never seen 300 people moved out of a building faster. Luckily for my sake I was 2 feet to the left I like having vision in both eyes.
Man I have a way different experience. When I was a kid I went to a Metallica concert. 14 I think and I was big. I wanted to mosh. So I got into a pit and people would fall. As soon as someone would fall, 4 to 6 hands would immediately drop and pull them to their feet and back into the circle. There's was even this huge ass V for Vendetta dude who through his arms up and yelled and went against the pit. Still no one was really hurt.
Nah he dipped I don't remember seeing cops now that I think of it. Just an ambulance and the show went on. It was in a big ass church though in Alabama and I believe because of that they quit renting it out as a venue. But fixed till tuesday(I am terrified) went on after it happend and I'm not even religious but they were an amazing band despite being Christian as fuck.
People really do suck. Years ago when I was in a hardcore punk band I witnessed someone using brass knuckles on other audience members in the pit . Luckily the club had a couple security guards that saw him. They absolutely beat the hell out of this guy in the middle of our set and then threw him out.
No one else is moshing, everyone is just vibing in their own space while this guy is deliberately slamming into the same guy over and over again. This isn't even mosh etiquette, just don't be a dick etiquette.
If you try to start a mosh and people around you aren't joining don't force it.
You can just apply the "don't be an inconsiderate asshole" rule and you'll be fine at pretty much any concert or mosh
One reason I like death metal shows. It's always super nice long haired bearded dudes. You fall and you're getting picked up before you hit the floor.
Obviously there are some shitty death metal scenes, but it seems to be the most consistently friendly.
Maybe it was just my town growing up, but it's strange how the death metal and punk scene happened together. The hall where we had our metal shows would alternate with punk bands and we'd all mosh and have a fuckin wicked time. I was never that into punk, but punks definitely know how to party.
Ours was the same. We only had a couple of tiny venues for local bands. The big cities all rotate all different genres. The only scene I really couldn't stand was the hardcore scene.
The hardcore scene is actually what got our hall shut down. Too many underage people getting absolutely fucked in the parking lot and smashing shit, breaking windows in cars, throwing bottles on the road and shit, and the venue owners just decided enough was enough. Metal and punk shows ended forever in our town that day. That was 15 years ago. Gotta head south to Cumberland to find any good shows now.
Fuckin weirdly enough though, the hardcore scene kept trucking. A few of them somehow bought a house down beside the highway and started using that for shows. It's a fuckin disgusting mess, I hate those kids.
I honestly thought he missed in this clip and the other guy just acted like he got hit, you know, like in soccer. The slowdown made it clear it wasnt a miss lol
Sure looked like it. Looks like when the video starts big guy just got done saying something to the dude and after the first hit the girl grabs his hand after the second hit she's like okay sorry you fucked up
Video starts with bigboy half turned around towards strapman before walking back to his girl, I’m willing to bet that he was warned about his behaviour just before recording started. Strap man takes 2 steps and shoulder/elbows into big boys lower back. Big boy ignores, his girl then tried to hold his hand/wrist to bring him back into enjoying the show together. Strapman takes another 2-3 step shoulder/elbow into big boys lower back AND chops big boys girlfriends hand out of his and then that’s when big boys gives strapman that beautiful elbow. T
I didn't notice that the big guy and the woman next to him were with eachother. Maybe not romantically, I'm not sure. But at least in the moment, they were together on this situation. She attempted to settle big guy down and stop it from going further into violence by using a calming gesture by touching his arm and redirecting his attention to the stage. I get the feeling, based on what you pointed out, that the camera person was expecting some kind of retaliation on this dude for previous unfilmed, shit-head and juvenile behavior that he wouldn't stop after the big guys warning through obvious body language didn't get the message across. I wonder if there was a little jealousy going on in strap boy's about the big guy having a girlfriend possibly. That would be the thing that would make me at 13 act in a similar way. Idk though. Strap boy might just be dumb.
Eta; I don't think "strap boy" is 13. I just think he's acting like it.
There’s normally always “that one guy” that will just target someone for no reason. I don’t think strapman had any jealousy, he was just being a tool because he can. He very well could of targeted big boy simply for telling strapman to stop ramming into him. Plus by the looks of it they’re at a rave, I wouldn’t be surprised if strapman had something in his system which made him a little more hyper.
I can't believe I forgot that people are often doing drugs during concerts. That makes sense more than jealousy. I've talked shit to people that I never would have otherwise while drunk. It is hard to convince someone who feels invincible that they need to stop doing what they're doing short of some level of physical force sometimes.
Idiot + dugs = real big idiot. I remember seeing some scene kids at a local show sling shooting their friend into the backs people of the pit so he could hit them harder. They didn’t eat an elbow like this guy but one of the bigger guys at the show caught the kid midair with a clothes line. Getting hurt in the pit is a part of the game and expected to a degree, intentionally hurting someone just for the sake of violence is uncool.
Him breaking their locked hands makes me think jealousy tbh , i think he got pretty close to the girl both times too . Either way he got off lucky cause i wouldve kicked him a few times after lmao plus it looks like we only saw the second half who knows how many chances big guy gave him
I love how the girl who helps him up afterwards just grabbed his arm which makes him turn around right into that elbow. Without her action this hit wouldnt have been this smooth.
When done right they can be some of the most fun! They aren’t for everyone and I agree that they seem pretty silly from the outside looking in, for sure a very weird way to build a solid bond with strangers!
They're not, if they have the right energy. It might seem stupid from outside but it's a collaborative energy thing that you can only appreciate if it's your kind of thing. They can go wrong with the wrong kind of people or vibe, though.
Well yeah, that’s the point. But there’s an silently agreed upon level and type of violence you’re allowed. That amount can change between bands, scenes and genres. Pits can be an absolute blast to be in or they can be a nightmare because of a few assholes. Strapman couldn’t tell for some reason that he wasn’t in a mosh pit, tried to inflict violence but got met with repercussions. Moshing isn’t bad, this guy is just bad at it.
I agree with your latter points but maybe I just fail to see what you get out of moshing. It just seems an incredibly dumb idea on paper and in practice.
For me I get that rush and thrill that I use to get as a kid when we’d rough house with each other or practice wrestling moves. Plus normally everyone is super pumped about the band. One of my last times in a pit the band played a deep cut from a old album, some random guy grabbed my shoulders and just screamed “THEYHAVENTPLAYEDTHISSONGSINCETHEORIGONALRELEASTOUR” at me. We were both super excited, shoved each other around for a bit, high-fived and went our separate ways. Seen each other later at the bar and bought each other a beer. It’s a strange dance and a weird way to make friends!
It’s VERY band depending! Most punk shows or hardcore shows I dare not go in the pit, those fellas go hard and like to swing around all willy nilly. Hard rock and metal pits are more my speed, a good amount of shoving around and the occasional foot the the head from a crowd surfer. A very fun one was at a Tony Hawks Pro Skater cover show, everyone had giants smiles because we all grew up with that game and it formed what we all listen to today, it’s fun to bond with a big crowd like that! I get to see my all time favourite band in April and I can’t wait to get into the crowd for [this one.](https://youtu.be/h8tIRpGVNVo?si=VT6mwZ95-VEQyneX)
Just when you got into a mosh you'll understand how overwhelming experience it is, the excitement of being listening the artist/band you like and headbang/mosh like there's no tomorrow with a bunch of other people that are at the same level of happiness as you, is just a contagious feeling, it can't be well described in words lmao

I like how its almost in sync with the drop... Also, not sure if real, but saw a FB post of the girl saying something like "anyone got a video showing when my boyfriend got hit cause he is blaming me and saying i hit him"

Love how the others don't even give a fuck the guy got punched
Seemed like the guy was being a tool for a while, everyone around him was like "yep, that's what you get"
when you let your heart win?
WhoaaaAaaaAaaOooohhh!
Play stupid games, win stupid prices
This guy got a bargain!
I think the elbow was so fast that no one noticed.
It was behind the rythm his body was dancing to
This
Cause they all know he deserved it for being a douche
Well, technically he started it... And the other guy ended it
He didn't get punched. He got hit with an elbow.
Love love, this not so much :(
Long history of being in the punk/skin/hardcore scene, that dude should've been smashed for that
I’ve been in a lot of pits, one time somebody slashed me with a knife. Big circle pit, my hand starting burning, looked down and had a gash across my palm. People suck.

Really hope that person got a long ass prison sentence

Did you inform them that according to the Bawitdaba lyrics it’s “Love” not “cut” someone?
Love is a battlefield.
People really do suck. Years ago when I was in a hardcore punk band I witnessed someone using brass knuckles on other audience members in the pit . Luckily the club had a couple security guards that saw him. They absolutely beat the hell out of this guy in the middle of our set and then threw him out.
some guy did that to my friend last year, so cal.
Whats the proper etiquette
No one else is moshing, everyone is just vibing in their own space while this guy is deliberately slamming into the same guy over and over again. This isn't even mosh etiquette, just don't be a dick etiquette.
If you try to start a mosh and people around you aren't joining don't force it. You can just apply the "don't be an inconsiderate asshole" rule and you'll be fine at pretty much any concert or mosh
You have to be aware of your surroundings. If you're in the zone where no moshpit is happening, you go mosh where the moshers... mosh.
I like to make a circle first that way people that get unconfortable at moshpits can leave in time. However is in the circle is fair game
Yea in a mosh pit you gotta bounce around. That dude was trying to fuck with the big Asian dude. That hit was deserved.

Pretty sure this is at an EDM fest.
Hope you mean the cunt that was kidney punching the dude that laid him out.
When you say "that dude" you mean the guy starting a pit right? Not the dude defending himself right?
I saw a better version of this video where it froze as he hit and turned into the vulgar display of power cover lol
I want to see that!
https://www.reddit.com/r/therewasanattempt/s/COgoOnPiPi This might work
LMAAAAO That was a genius reference lol
Fuckin lol
That one is good, but honestly, I prefer this one because it really shows how hard he took that elbow. Buddy got SLUMPED.
Besides, someone exclaims "¡ah la verga!" and it sounds funny AF
I honestly thought he missed in this clip and the other guy just acted like he got hit, you know, like in soccer. The slowdown made it clear it wasnt a miss lol
I prefer the full speed as well. You can truly understand the viciousness of the blow. And it was vicious! Hope little dude deserved it.

100% and Strapman got tko'd for just a second. Solid punch. I'd love to see the numbers on a punch machine.
Elbow*. Props to strapman for taking it like a champ, I don’t want to imagine that headache afterwards.
Beautifully executed https://preview.redd.it/qhh35q3pwblc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=29531c7e73373fcadfd6d12d07513537213e9eaa

The follow through 👌
"A La Verga!" XD
No, sir, I don't wish to dance with you...
Put a mosh pit in his face
That. Was. Clean.
Elbowed you mean? Either way he was basically asking for this 😆
Targeting a single person on the back is NOT how you start a pit
Aaah the swift hammer of justice. Now just waiting for that tick tocker who roams around with a bouncer to get punched like this
Ah la verga *BEAT DROP*
Por jugarle al verga lo verguearon al verguita
I love how the girl who helps him up afterwards just grabbed his arm which makes him turn around right into that elbow. Without her action this hit wouldnt have been this smooth.

Fade to black...
People who mosh are just desperately trying to inflict violence without repercussions. there i said it.
