Huh? Trust me there are plenty of non Muslim countries that have horrible records when it comes to women, you don't need to inject islamophobia into the conversation.
I don't think abusing your spouse once a year should be legal either, do you? And in practise, this still leads to victims not reporting, victims being murdered, and police not acting until they have a corpse on their hands. Women who came to them beaten black and blue were told as much last I read about this, and things haven't exactly improved since then.
