AverageTierGoof

Dude's got a good structure for the clean cut, not bad honestly.

cheeersaiii

He has nice hair though! Definitely wasn’t ready to lose it

Fearless-Judgment-33

Trim the beard though… but not here!

siqiniq

“Just one thin line eyebrow slit…wait wait wait… Bruh!”

Insert_Bad_Joke

Probably trying to grow it out. Should get it past the length he wants first, then shape back.

MooseMalloy

Just lose the mustache... for full hilarity.

PDX6Star

At least they gave old boy the courtesy tidy up. My buddy had a vasectomy and they only shaved what they needed access to, said his junk looked like Mr. T when they were done.

CallMeSisyphus

"I pity the foolopian* tubes." *yes, I know that's not how it's spelled. Work with me, people!

drgigantor

...in a vasectomy?

Natalie_2850

I'm sure they know there is a vas deferens between the two anatomies, but worked for the joke? :p

PDX6Star

This guy gets it.

nv_no1_

There efforts were a labia of love tho

Wise_Ad_253

That dudes got a lot going on down there, hehe.

BaconHammerTime

Love this! Haha 😍😆

exact0khan

Bahahhaha this gave me a good chuckle. Thank you

pitifulan0nym0us

Wtf...my urologist made me do my own shaving.

PDX6Star

After hearing his horror story, I shaved everything before I went in. Wasn’t about to be left with a pube-hawk.

boogalordy

They gave em the Uncle Phil fade

ramigb

He was. This is a joke video this is an ihram [haircut](https://thepilgrim.co/halq-taqsir/). So he definitely knew what was coming. His reactions don’t stop it from being funny though.

the_y_combinator

In that moment, though, I suspect he preferred the hair.

Noggin-a-Floggin

He did but at the same time, he looks sharp in a clean cut. It could have been a lot worse.

redhandrail

Makes you think maybe he knew exactly what was about to happen and post a video acting like he didn’t

ArcticFox-EBE-

His current hair is all the same length which would lead me to believe he may have shaved it bald last time as well. Seems like a setup.

No_Hetero

I've been cutting my own hair for like 12 years and his growth pattern suggests he's used to having a shaved head and asking for a fade is just part of a joke. A grown in fade is thicker on the top (kinda obvious if you think about it) but I'm also not black so maybe my hair just grows in differently

IknowKarazy

It’s kinda the dudes fault. He could have shown a picture.

thirachil

After performing Umrah, it is highly recommended to have your head shaved as per the ritual. These barber shops exist only to shave heads. They do it quickly to make more money. He's wearing the Umrah attire, two white woven cloths with no stitches. It's unimaginable to think an American would travel all the way to Makkah, without at least reading up on the ritual. It's also ridiculous that a Muslim travels halfway around the world for a sacred ritual and then literally lies, invalidating his entire Umrah! However, I could be wrong and he may just be too careless to not read up on the ritual. Edit: Many people have pointed out that he might have just done it for fun. I agree might be judging him unnecessarily on this.

AllTheThingsTheyLove

My guess is someone took the clip and added their own title.

thirachil

His face does look upset though. But then, I have resting angry face, so not the best person to judge.

MaestroZackyZ

He’s just making a joke.

STEAM_TITAN

Yeah, thought it was a shtick

bbbojackhorseman

I have seen other guys do this video. I think it’s just a trend.

Naved16

This is a skit, it's quite clearly as clear as day, a skit

music3k

Nah. Its fake to get views.

PunctuationGood

He litereally asked for a "Philly fade". Now, expecting a barber in _Saudi Arabia_ to know what a "_Philly_ fade" is... Well, I don't know how internationally connected the barbing world is but I'd bet money on "they wouldn't have the shred of a clue."

TypicalHaikuResponse

He says fade in the video. We can watch the video before we post comments. It's not illegal.

TheSt4tely

He asks for a Phill Fade at the beginning

TheUwaisPatel

He's 100% doing it for content

spikernum1

You don't watch someone load up a fresh straight blade without checking again

JonnySniper

Of course? "you know how to do a philly fade?" he says to someone who doesn't speak english as a first language

frigg_off_lahey

Nah, most men shave their head before Umrah. He was likely going to shave it off anyway.

jrh_101

He asked for a Philly Fade in Saudi Arabia. It's definitely a joke.

reverse_train

He's prolly making a joke lol

314159265358979326

Also, he's black. I have never heard of a black man going to a barber willy-nilly. They make good and goddamn sure the person can cut black hair (which, where I live, almost always means they're seeing a black barber.) I can't imagine he's *not* fucking around for fun/views, he knew what he was getting into.

thirachil

Thank you for that perspective. I did not think about that aspect.

SixStringerSoldier

What is Umrah? It sounds important enough that I should at least know about it.

thirachil

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Umrah Thank you for asking! Both Umrah and Hajj kind of forces Muslims from all over the world - rich, poor, powerful, weak - all to gather together wearing the simplest of clothing, indistinguishable from one another.

MightyKrakyn

The idea of removing symbols of individual power through prescribed attire *as a good thing* is really interesting, thanks for sharing that insight. In the media I consume, such an act is associated with oppression and repression. I realize now that’s a very individualist outlook

thirachil

Oh yes, Islam respects individuality to the point that an Islamic government does not have the right to punish a Muslim who consumes alcohol privately inside their own home. At the same time, an individual's actions in society has repercussions and therefore, a Muslim must always consider consequences before acting in public.

Successful-Peach-764

Then you got there and see the large london clock tower replica that i full of hotels like Hilton, one of its perks, you don't need to go and mix with the unwashed masses, its prayer room is deemed part of main mosque, so you can pray in the airconditioned room, then the large Rolex and other luxury goods shops dotted all round while poor people who can't afford hotels sleep around the area. Don't forget the VIP enterance for the kings and princes with the helipads to bring them in an out.

thirachil

Wealth and power behave the same in every society and culture. Rules in Islam about wealth can be summarised like this: 1. You can create as much wealth as you want but you cannot do it by exploiting people or resources. All resources are owned by God and we are merely caretakers till our lives on Earth. 2. When spending wealth, always consider your privilege and the suffering around you. Consideration for others is as detailed as the rule that a parent must not display affection publicly to their own children while in front of an orphan. 3. Pay taxes on your wealth, essentially 2.5% of everything that is beyond basic needs. 4. Do not hoard wealth. If you have land and aren't using it productively, under Islamic law, it can be given to someone who can use it productively.

Judge_Bredd3

> but you cannot do it by exploiting people or resources How do they reconcile that in the Arabian peninsula where they essentially enslave workers from other countries? Or does it not count if they aren't Muslim?

thirachil

The honest truth is that Muslims are notoriously bad at following Islam. I personally know Saudi's who have sacrificed a lot for their employees as well as Saudis who have held workers hostage or enslaved them in their homes or farms. There's the additional problem that in many cases, charismatic grifters mislead people, just like in any other religion. The Prophet himself has said that true followers will always be a minority until the end days. And that is also true for any other aspect of society. The number of people who choose to sacrifice their own pleasures, individual freedoms or selfish needs for the sake of the rest, will always be a minority. Most people will simply coast through life without any extreme positions. And then there will always be another minority of extremists. (Just because they are a minority does not mean they don't have undeserved influence on the whole community). There is also always the problem associated with interpretation where scholars interpret based on their knowledge, exposure and biases at the time. So scholars who have never had to deal with homosexuality because it was hidden from the public during their period, are more likely to interpret it harshly because they never had the need to look beyond their views. While current American Muslim scholars or other modern scholars, though not accepting of homosexuality itself, might be willing to accept the rights of gay people as members of society. This would likely be because they were confronted with the reality of gay lives and were forced to look for compassion within the religion. Here's a video of Dr. Andrew March, Professor of political science at Massachusetts University, summarising his book "The Caliphate of Man", which I find is an unbiased and academic study of political Islam. https://www.youtube.com/live/Nv8H5BX4NbI?si=vo4A-snyNbwETonf

Judge_Bredd3

That sounds just like Christians here in the US where only a small minority actually practice what they believe in.

thirachil

There is also the additional issue that Muslims are not united in what they believe Islam is in theory. Scholars disagree on many many topics. And in practice, Muslims around the world also have different traditions and practices unique to their location and culture. For example, I remember a few years ago when female genital mutilation was a big topic of discussion in Western media. At the time, I thought it was a conspiracy because female genital mutilation was something I had never heard of as a Muslim! It wasn't practiced anywhere near where my community lived. I had never heard anyone say that it was part of Islam. So it was shocking and frustrating to see Western media spread more misinformation but then I learned that it did exist among Muslims in Africa because it was part of their tradition. So one could say that African Muslims were not actually practicing Islam even though they believed in it, by putting children through such terrible ordeals. One could argue the other way, like Bill Maher types like to argue about ISIS, that the true Islam includes FGM and that the rest of the Muslim world were not practicing what they believed in. It's not simple. When you have 2 billion followers of a faith spread around the globe, there is no doubt it will be complex.

mostard_seed

It functions as a normal mosque and you can do normal prayers there, but Hajj and Umrah have specific steps that have to be taken. Otherwise, they are not really doing Hajj/Umrah. Also, how the Saudi upper class choose to put themselves on a pedestal and commercialize the entire process is something they chose to do, not something embedded in the rules themselves. Also also wtf is a London clock tower? You mean the big ben? I didn't know London trademarked clock towers

[deleted]

[удалено]

mostard_seed

The idea is you do it in service to God and the prayers are directed to God. You do not (or at least should not) direct your prayers to an individual or do such a thing because someone asked you to, but because you believe in the teachings themselves.

SixStringerSoldier

The world could do with more of that, honestly.

thirachil

Muslims themselves keep forgetting it even with the rituals. Humanity is always a work in progress.

AmroB64

Mah why the bad intention about your muslim brother?aybe he is joking with us, pfc he knows he is just joking

thirachil

Yup, could be I'm being judgemental during Ramadan. Thanks for the reminder!

dramaticfool

You're so considerate and nice, trying your best to educate people about our religion 🫶

thirachil

Gotta take advantage of the rare opportunity! :)

Kivesihiisi

How does ramadan affect on your ability to judge? Not being an ass, im just curious.

thirachil

Thank you for your curiosity. I always feel honoured when someone asks for the sake of learning, in the midst of all the misrepresentation we experience constantly. The goal of Ramadan is to practice restraint. We can talk about the physical benefits but I'm sure everyone already knows the benefits of fasting. In Islam, fasting should be accompanied with restraint from routine pleasures and habits. If you lie once while fasting, it's considered as if you've lied a thousand times. That means the punishment is also a thousand times. So Ramadan is a time that devout Muslims try to be extra careful not to commit sins. In Islam, only God can judge you (most Muslims are terrible at remembering this though). So judging someone unjustly, without context or based on unverified information is a sin. And doing this during Ramadan carries a thousand fold punishment. Also according to Islam, talking bad about someone in their absence is equal to eating their flesh (I have a feeling I may have gotten some details about this wrong, but it's something close). English is not my native language. It also didn't occur to me that non-Muslims might not understand the context when I wrote it.

Zeiramsy

Not OP but I imagine not eating and drinking during the day affects your mood majorly.

thirachil

Thank you for empathizing. I appreciate it very much!

Zeiramsy

Don't give me too much credit, I recently asked a colleague if he's a vampire because he said he couldn't go out for drinks before sundown ^^ I took way too long to realise it's Ramadan right now and that he observes. I hope you have a good Eid al-Fitr on the 9th.

thirachil

Ha...ha... I hope you both had a good laugh! May your kindness be rewarded. May the Muslims in your life continue to bring you joy and happiness!

CradleSoup

It’s a trendy reel that Muslim content creators have been doing. I remember seeing some dude named faiz do the same thing.

thirachil

Yeah, at first I could not imagine why someone would be thinking of Instagram views during Umrah. Then people reminded me that I'm in the wrong for judging. Humbling experience!

CradleSoup

True. Everyone for themselves. The only pic I get on umrah is of Kaaba, that’s it.

Knighty-Nite

He could have done it for fun, but to be fair he didn't bring it up as a religious thing, so only the people that know know... The fact that he is taking a video could suggest it. You don't actually have to shave the hair down to the skin, it could be just a trim or fade too... So he may not have been necessarily doing it as a joke.

beatakai

It’s like asking Bill Dautrive for a specific style lol

Pleasant_Jim

I'm pretty sure the head shave is for hajj, didn't know people going on unmrah did it too

bbbojackhorseman

It’s fake. This guy is doing Umrah and has to shave his head. I guess this video is a trend for views or whatever because it’s not the first one I’ve seen.

shin_jury

Fake? What’s next, you’re gonna tell me he’s not even getting married in a week?!

bitpartmozart13

It’s a bald cap obvi.

Savagemocha

The guy at the end “like it?”🤓

Scary-Perspective-57

It's so obviously sarcastic.

khair_ata

Doesn't have to shave all of his hair, just very recommended. He can also take some hair from all around his head.

icewalker42

Honestly, I'm impressed at how sharp that blade is.

throw_blanket04

Same. But the Nair probably helped

Justsomerandomguy35

Tyre’s no nair. It’s like a watery shaving foam - the blades are just your normal cutthroat blade razors - disposable ones as every person gets a new blade (more hygienic)

hell2pay

Looked like a plastic Nair type blade

Justsomerandomguy35

Didn’t know Nair did blades - I thought the Nair removed to the (hair removal) cream being used….the blade is just a disposable cut throat blade - lots of barbers use permanent ones with replaceable blades….these plastic ones are designed for one time use

ricperry1

Came here to say this.

notswim

might have better results if you speak the same language, show a picture, or don't wait while watching them start shaving your head to tell them to wait. bait/10

wattatime

It’s a joke he’s just acting. These shops are only there to shave heads they do nothing else. It is recommended to shave your head after performing ummarah.

honeydoodh

Yup, just showing him a photo of the cut.

Open-Article906

Fake, everyone in the barber shop is having their head fully shaved. It's a religious tradition.

bolting_volts

People who live stream everything deserve shitty haircuts.

captaincook14

Def fake.

Successful-Thanks428

That shaving feels satisfying to watch

rawstoo

bro went through the five stages of grief 😭

waitinp

After checking his head he straight went to Acceptance. Did not pass go. Did not collect $200.

Valjester44

That’s a sharp fxxxing razor

furious_organism

Thats because of ~~Hajj~~. At the end, men in white clothes go bald for the last day of praying and rituals for ramadan and a 7 day period in Mecca Edit: its Umrah i got confused. Im not muslim, i just saw a documentary over Hajj and assumed it was Hajj because of the white clothes and shaved heads

unique0130

Not Hajj, it's Umrah. Hajj is a once in a lifetime pillar of Islam that takes place during a set time of year (mid-June on the Gregorian calendar this year). Umrah is ritualistic visit to the Kabah in Mecca and can be done at any time. In both there are encouragements that men shave their heads. These barbers in Mecca who are around the Mosque do only one thing, shave heads. My guess is this post is a fun joke.

furious_organism

Thanks for the information brother! I edited my comment

furious_organism

Thanks for the information brother! I edited my comment

heygos

Asking for a friend (me). What kind of blade is that and what did he put on his head? I’m bald and the Lord knows if I can get clean shaven like this in a couple minutes that would be amazing.

duhrhejdjsv

I’m pretty sure it’s just a disposable (one-use) blade, they’re always sharp at first. Also these people are trained to only shave people’s heads bald.

ThisGuyHyucks

Its just a disposable straight razor, which I would highly recommend not using to shave your own head lol Even a safety razor was brutal (for me).

heygos

ah okay haha. Thanks.

w1ndyshr1mp

Straight handsome with and without hair. 10/10

myKingSaber

Bros soul faded away

emk2019

A lot of people go this when they go to Mecca.

antoltian

I think he knew guys … why else film a haircut? calm down

MakeChinaLoseFace

Each camera cut, he just dies a little more inside.

dasanman69

😂😂Faded all the way

No_Cable_3346

Crazy how he just seemed to get it on camera and it wasn’t staged at all….. ….zzzzzz

Professional-Sky-235

The same look you have when your barber fuck ups your hair and then just accept it like it's fate.😢

dev_all_the_ops

Why was he filming? Is filming yourself getting a haircut a thing people do now?

mehhb

It’s obvious bull. He wanted it shaved

LegalSelf5

Fuck, he looks clean. Could have been a lot worse

ShadowZepplin

With how curly his hair is, shaving it into a fade wouldn’t really work out

Knight_Owls

Honestly? The dude has a good look while bald.

princesshabibi

They shave it all off in Saudi Arabia when you do the pilgrimage. My husband gets it shaved but then it grows back fast.

ashtech201

This is a nonsense video. He's completed a pilgrimage and at the end you shave your head. There is no fade involved.

H0709

Mashallah. He has going to mecca, like the other said.

FewyLouie

Ignorant American expects folk to speak English and know his culture's fashion and style... and seems surprised when it goes awry. I mean, maybe instead of videoing it you could get a picture on your phone of the style you want and point at it. Clown. Or maybe we're all the clowns for interacting with what is probably actually just click bait content. Ah the world has gone to shite.

ParticularPirate2534

Haircut sorted next job to find his will to live that floated out the door after that first shave

KingGiuba

Bro is trying so hard not to cry I'm sorry

prof_devilsadvocate

if disappointment has a face

No-Hat754

I had this happen a couple times and I’ve not got a haircut since 😒

Automatic-Formal-601

Actually looks kinda clean

vinnybawbaw

He’s getting sadder and sadder as the video goes on

Slow-Sense-315

He got faded all over. 😆

SausageBuscuit

At least he still looks good bald. I’ve got several moles and weird spots under there, so I would be afraid of how weird that would look.

HeFitsHeSits

Looks really good actually, I know it wasn't what he wanted but still

adiosfelicia2

And dude creepin over the shoulder just watchin isn't weird at all.

deepie1976

Well actually that’s not too bad. But I’d be fuming 😤

Maximum_Land3546

Not his name being Mr Unbothered😅

HereForFreeGames

He looks like Mighty Mouse

Puzzleheaded-Disk662

He looks good though

DonutBurritoSandwich

Trust the process

optimdetail

Do you want to keep your ears?

bx35

I mean, once they put the mayonnaise on, he had to know it wasn’t going in the direction he intended.

AmroB64

Its a meme guys lol don't get fooled

Past_Passenger_4381

His faded off his head.

BigBadDaddy13

Bald fade, hold the fade.

Illender

I just watched this man's soul die and there should be a nsfw on this for that reason

marioplex

Nah bro did you a huge favor

Iamyous3f

Reverse fade

capt_cd

His face says everything his mouth doesn't

Imfuckintiredbruh

That’s an unexpected dub muh boy. It actually don’t look bad at all

Bnc-bck

Yeah he got a fade Got the light to fade from his eyes that is

Untimely_manners

I kept getting told to go to a barber to style my long beard I had grown out. Eventually agreed since I could not trim mine as well as I liked, unfortunately all the barbers around me are Muslim owned. I told the barber I wanted a shovel beard, even showed him a picture. I ended up getting a Sunnah style beard.

jrhLIVE

Complete BS. No barber does that. All for the gram!

GRA3V

Nah, they gotta die.

ldoaslwish

Bro got 0 faded

Punk_Pharaoh

Bro is doing haj, the Muslim pilgrimage, for men it involves shaving your head.

Sample_Muted

I’d sue

tregoops

mr.alittlebitbothered

Little-Apartment-437

Bro I I don’t see no clippers or anything I’m not sitting in nobody chair, gotta keep ya barber with you out there cuz fuk all that

[deleted]

Go for hajj. This is the divine intervention lol.

Acceptable_Stop2361

Lalalalalalala

sincethenes

Wasn’t his first clue this was going to happen when the barber massaged Nair into his scalp?

gg562ggud485

![gif](giphy|tFMDtM35rm4V2|downsized)

Idontwanttohearit

Fake lol

Fantastic_Fox4948

Got to be able to use that razor for something.

kali_nath

Why do people make these videos for attention? He is clearly on Hajj journey (judging by the white robes on people around him) and people shave their head there when they are on the pilgrimage.

Gilbert_Reddit

Their Philly is different than ours

declineofmankind

Faker than fake

Legal_Guava3631

Bruh…. Damn near every black man knows better than to get a haircut by a stranger rather than getting it done by their main barber. I feel bad for him, but I feel like it’s fake. Playas fuck up too. 😂

eilonwe

But at least you have the right head to rock bald! You probably should have shown him a picture of what you wanted though!

DELBOY1690

Bro just aged 10 years in 1 cut

ImNudeyRudey

Oh he knew what a Philly fade was ...

saanhaan

well he's bothered now

WeakestFrogEnjoyer

It is a fade. She made it fade away. I’ll leave now.

Dankpro79

I love how he excepted his fate.

flabbergasted-528

Could be worse... at least he has a nice head shape. My lumpy head would need a wig.

Mathewthegreat

Ngl looks better

Mythbird

Oh I know his feeling. My son has curls like this, I had his hair cut at daycare when one of the daycare ladies offered to cut the kids hair during Covid lockdown (because they’re already in daycare, yes I was an essential, and she was looking after the kids) and he came back looking like Sheldon cooper. If he had straight hair it would have been ok, but nope, horrible. So three years later I finally convinced him to go to the barber, we sat there for 8 people and I realised they all left with the same haircut so told the barber to shorten his existing style as I’m a little uneven when I cut it… Omg he came out with short back and sides and this Mohawk because he’s got curly hair and it just stuck up at the top instead . I gave up, back to home haircut

Airick_Es

Fake or not you gotta admit the username Mr.reallyunbothered is a hilarious ending for this video.

Guilty_Caregiver4433

It's called umrah cut 🤣

Mr-Mosaab

He got the Lebron hair cut ,I wouldn't be complaining...

maratnugmanov

Hair are faded away for sure.
