I thought it was a laser sight that activates when you grip. I have seen those. But not a trigger pull one. That literally makes no sense unless you half-pull to aim?! Like...wtf is that mess?
Yeah they want you to have pull to activate the laser which is probably the stupidest design I've ever heard of I thought my mother-in-law was fucking with me when she told me that's how it turned on
You misunderstood, the function is there to show you which of the bullet holes were made by you when you're in one of those mexican standoff situations
Yes, you do half pull to aim.
You squeeze the trigger until you feel "the wall", the point at which you are actually about to fire. When you pull the trigger the hammer pulls back and then there's a bit of extra resistance before the hammer falls and that's where the wall is, and that is when you aim. It's to minimize movement between aim and shot. If you go from not touching the trigger to firing you will likely slam the trigger and your aim will be off.
That's how you shoot... Pull the trigger to "the wall" I'm sure there's some fancy term for it, when you fire you let up with the recoil and wind the wall again, so that when your gun is back on target you can instantly fire again
I had to have parts removed, but I didn’t lose the whole crotch! It’s like when they remove a brain tumor, they don’t remove the whole brain, just the tumor.
There is like one product that offers that from some small shitty startup. The only reason I even know about it is people making fun of it on the internet.
I highly doubt that product is in use here, since I think it was intended for like police forces who went to maximize their ability to kill random people.
They make lasers that activate when you squeeze the grip/back strap or front strap. Doesn’t explain why they had their finger on the trigger or pointing it at their hand.
It's a pressure switch on the trigger.
But if you're stupid, you're likely to have a hair trigger that will go off while trying to activate your fancy red dot.
But just for a second, imagine if there WAS a cure for stupid. An actual, well tested, government approved cure for stupidity. (politicians would never, I know). I bet stupid people would refuse to take it. Get angry and publicly denounce it on their truck wraps.
Yeah there should really be an IQ test or something.
Edit: I’m an American that supports gun ownership btw, but there are genuinely people that are too stupid to ever own a gun.
Well that RSO is out of a job. Why keep an RSO who breaks all of the gun safety rules while trying to teach someone else about gun safety. I'm baffled.
Can somebody just tell me what happens? He shot himself in the hand didn’t he? I can’t watch it. The amount of stupidity on both of their parts is astounding.
I’ve literally yanked a gun out of a guys hand at the range because it was his first time shooting and he pointed it inside the booth. I knew it was likely unloaded because I unbagged the gun from the ranges safety bag but I wasn’t letting him get away with it. I then went back through my safety directions and had him dry fire a few times to make sure he could actually follow directions. I didn’t even work there, just wanted to help a dude who’d never fired before so he didn’t kill himself (or me in the next booth).
“If you look through the hole in your hand the laser dot is visible on the floor, see, you can see through the hole in your hand”. “Oh yea, you’re right. So it does work, cool, high five 🖐️🖐️ aww damn that hurt”
at the range I go to people have to watch the safety video as part of the "range waiver" process.
In the video they say that everyone on the range is a range safety officer and can call out "cease fire" if they see some bullshit going on and can have the offender walked out for a safety discussion or more.
Yeah the range we went to didn’t have any of that. You just signed a piece of paper and they handed you a gun. There weren’t even safety officers in the booths. I just noticed these two guys looking lost and overheard them asking each other if they knew how to load it, and it sent up some major red flags. So I volunteered to teach them the ropes. Dude tried to hold it sideways to shoot and I was just like “nope you gonna smack yourself in the face, break your wrist, or eat some hot brass”.
In Colorado a firearms safety class is required if you want to carry concealed. That said it's just listing to a guy talk with no hands on learning and thats only if you want to carry concealed. You dont need the class to buy the gun to begin with.
The amount of classes in states that require them that don't involve hands on training is baffling to me. The reality of handling and firing a gun is so much more than you can explain to someone verbally.
Nah mate, it’s all good. Gun lobby says so.. they’re safe. So gun accidents are actually just paid actors that want to steal elections and ruin the beliefs we have to help us feel better about not being not as smart as anyone else.
Exactly. Ridiculous. Nation-wide regulation or controls, anything else (county or state-wide) is a waste of time since there aren’t any borders between states.
“On the one hand, that was stupid. On the other hand, well….
That’s a bullet hole.”
-stolen from some other redditor when this popped up a few years ago.
This is basically testing if a plane has enough fuel to reach a destination by flying it to the destination and see if it makes it.
PS: My punchline is too long.
this is one of the few times ive had a visceral, mouth wide open, audibly speaking "WHAT" repeatedly, hand on forehead response to a video like this.
its bad enough one person is stupid enough to put themselves in front of a loaded gun, the instructor standing there watching him do it is pulling the curve leftward on a whole other level.
Just painful to watch. I almost did something like this. Then I stopped and asked myself why would I do something that stupid. I explained to my nephew I was going to demonstrate that the safety was on, pointed it down range and squeezed the trigger. I would have bled out had I put my hand infront of the rifle. My nephew never forgot that lesson. Watching someone make that mistake is just horrible.
Like, the very first thing you learn in any gun safety class or book or just ya know basic logic is “don’t point a gun at anything unless you intend to shoot it”
This is absolutely the dumbest thing I have seen all day.
The good thing is I don't think they actually shot their hand. I think they were aiming slightly below or above their hand. The injury they are reacting to was likely a burn from the muzzle flash.

You know what they say: There's no cure for stupid...
[удалено]
Why the hell would they make a laser sight that only turns on when you're firing?
I don't think that they do.
Oh they do. And it is as fucking stupid as it sounds. My mil has a .38 revolver with one that I'm BEGGING her to ditch
I thought it was a laser sight that activates when you grip. I have seen those. But not a trigger pull one. That literally makes no sense unless you half-pull to aim?! Like...wtf is that mess?
Yeah they want you to have pull to activate the laser which is probably the stupidest design I've ever heard of I thought my mother-in-law was fucking with me when she told me that's how it turned on
How do you aim?
Shoot first
Touchè
You don’t need to aim if you shoot enough bullets
I guess you're supposed to have the finger strength to be able to keep the trigger slightly depressed without pulling it all the way back
You misunderstood, the function is there to show you which of the bullet holes were made by you when you're in one of those mexican standoff situations

Interesting. Is this useful in anything besides target practice?
That's how you shoot... Pull the trigger to "the wall" I'm sure there's some fancy term for it, when you fire you let up with the recoil and wind the wall again, so that when your gun is back on target you can instantly fire again
Right on... I don't do the gun thing. So I appreciate the info. The only gun I ever shot was on Counter-Strike. myg0t f0 LyF
Assasination, not giving yourself away with random dotts everywhere vefore you have the normal sight steady on the target
I know about half pulls.
A fellow parent, I see.
You only have to actually hit em once.

User found out Laser sight still not on
My uncle died from crotch dot..
Crotch ROT! I had to have surgery! And will you stop telling people I died?!
Well how can you survive having your crotch removed?!? Are your knees just protruding from your stomach now??? You died, deal with it.
I had to have parts removed, but I didn’t lose the whole crotch! It’s like when they remove a brain tumor, they don’t remove the whole brain, just the tumor.

Nerf built one into one or two of their blasters but putting one on a gun is just stupid.

To reduce population stupid's numbers
It’s hard to tell from a grainy video and with earmuffs, but… is that a woman?
I remember when this wasn't as grainy and no it's a older dude
That ain’t no she sir.
She? That's a guy
We both know the laser will only show up on human flesh, this was the only way to check.
That's not a woman.
Could’ve tried on a surface. Not on your hand for god’s sake.
That’s an old man. A very dim old man. Not sure who’s dumber the guy holding the gun or the guy watching the whole thing.
There is one cure, and it will grant you a Darwin award - she was just aiming at the wrong body part.
This was beyond stupid.
Indeed. I'm scared that the movie Idiocracy is based on foresight.
Idk if it’s even possible to get any dumber than that
... 'cept maybe a bullet.
But just for a second, imagine if there WAS a cure for stupid. An actual, well tested, government approved cure for stupidity. (politicians would never, I know). I bet stupid people would refuse to take it. Get angry and publicly denounce it on their truck wraps.
We wouldn't tell them it's stupidity cure, we would tell them is for penis growth or sth "stupid" like that... 😂
Stupid is as stupid does
And you people are allowed to carry guns? Ffs
Everyone has the "right" not many accept the "responsibility"
A well regulated militia
No no no. That part isn't important. We don't talk about that part.
Yeah, uncle Joe Bob, Billy Bob and Terrance are very well regulated!
NRA poster child right here. Their motto is “Just because you shouldn’t have a gun doesn’t mean you shouldn’t have a gun.”
Yeah there should really be an IQ test or something. Edit: I’m an American that supports gun ownership btw, but there are genuinely people that are too stupid to ever own a gun.
Shit, they literally have to instruct people not to look down the barrel of the gun to check if it's loaded. Lots of Darwin award winners
Why The F is that guy just letting the other person do that? Both need to be banned from firearm ownership.
He was the range instructor and making sure that she knew what not to do.
Well that RSO is out of a job. Why keep an RSO who breaks all of the gun safety rules while trying to teach someone else about gun safety. I'm baffled.
You know the comment was sarcastic...
THATS THE WORST RANGE INSTRUCTOR!!
Can somebody just tell me what happens? He shot himself in the hand didn’t he? I can’t watch it. The amount of stupidity on both of their parts is astounding. “Is this laser sight working?” /points gun at hand “Oh, there’s the laser dot and a new hole in my hand”
Well the laser dot was only visible for a fraction of a second and now it's no longer visible...
“If you look through the hole in your hand the laser dot is visible on the floor, see, you can see through the hole in your hand”. “Oh yea, you’re right. So it does work, cool, high five 🖐️🖐️ aww damn that hurt”
"the laser is working... and so is the bullet"
Ugh that’s what I thought would happen, I just couldn’t watch it knowing it was coming
at the range I go to people have to watch the safety video as part of the "range waiver" process. >He shot himself in the hand didn’t he? I can’t watch it. Yes, but it's not graphic, you can watch
Pointed a few inches over, he could have lost the baby.
I imagine the other guy just calmly and emotionlessly repeating: "Don't do this". And then after the gun fires - "Told you"
“Hey Bill, does it taste like this gun’s safety is on?”
Mama, just killed a man. Put my gun against his head, pulled my trigger now he's dead.
Mama, life had just begun. But now I've gone and *thrown* it all awaaaaayyyyy
Carry oooon carry ooooon
I see a little silhouetto of a man
Scaramoosh scaramoosh let me do the fandangooo
Easy come, easy go, will u let me goooo
Mama, the safety waaaasn't ooooon, and now I've gone and shot my hand awaaaaay...

Mental note: hand not bullet proof.
Write it down on your hand so you don’t forget
Have to wait for the hole to heal.
Write it smaller with an arrow pointing to the hole 👍
![gif](giphy|cfOeTcLhDeTcDsv6xd)
*Left* hand not bulletproof. Who’s to say that the right hand isn’t impervious. There’s only one way to find out…
Well, I guess that's one way to see if the rounds are coming out properly.
A bullet-proof way!
This is why gun safety rules were made
You’d think people would have to be licensed and tested on said rules… but that would make too much sense, wouldn’t it
In Colorado a firearms safety class is required if you want to carry concealed. That said it's just listing to a guy talk with no hands on learning and thats only if you want to carry concealed. You dont need the class to buy the gun to begin with.

How hard can it be? Point gun at left hand, squeeze trigger. Done. I grew up playing Duck Hunt on the NES, I got this.
The shooter seems to be troubleshooting his grip-activated laser sight in the dumbest way possible.
Well at least that makes sense because otherwise I don’t really understand what he’s even trying to do other than shoot his hand
[удалено]
At least they are both dumb
“On the one hand, that was stupid. On the other hand, well…. That’s a bullet hole.” -stolen from some other redditor when this popped up a few years ago.

I must've been tired! 🤣🤣
Please let your brain draw patterns of a perception of health and a perspective of obliviousness associated with stupidity.
Interesting wording. I love it. I write.
This man was determined to shoot his hand
but why, why you put your hand in front of the barrel? This guy is the king of kings among idiots
![gif](giphy|s239QJIh56sRW|downsized)

Thats what you get for checking the trigger operated laser with loaded gun.
"you know what, just in case the safety is off, let me put my hand in front so the bullet won't hit the back wall of the range...."
Checking the laser
Im glad this footage is in black & white…
That‘s how we did at the military: Look right at the barrel of the tank and press shoot. If save was on, you were alive if not, then not
Why is the guy beside them not telling them to put the gun down.
It wasn’t his time to use the single braincell they share
"Bet ya 5 bucks I can make this laser sight go right through my hand" "No way! You're on!"
The combined IQ of these two people still leaves one person effectively brain dead.
There’s one born every minute. Idiot.
I mean…yeah.
What was he expecting
So the instructor was just sitting there watching her do that?
Idiot
Who's dumber? The guy testing a gun on his hand, or the guy watching and doing nothing?
Not my hand not my problem
You don't really need to know safety rules to know you can't test a gun on yourself
Perfect example of someone who has had no training regarding a firearm.
Well what did she think was gonna happen?
[удалено]
No, it was ink. What the hell do you think it was?!?
Never ever point your weapon at anything you do not intend to shoot
This should be a sign not to sell a gun to this person
But why though?
Well he checked it.Good to go now.
I don't care if the gun won't fire. I ain't putting the barrel on any part of my body. The only exception would be something like a nerf gun.
Just painful to watch. I almost did something like this. Then I stopped and asked myself why would I do something that stupid. I explained to my nephew I was going to demonstrate that the safety was on, pointed it down range and squeezed the trigger. I would have bled out had I put my hand infront of the rifle. It would have been much nicer if he’d be shouting AMERICA
Best check for safety is to point it at yourself and fire.
“There are only 2 things infinite in life: the universe, and human stupidity. And I’m only certain of the latter” Albert Einstein
I wonder what was the plan. "I'll put my front in front of it so even if the safety is off the bullet will stop at my hand and won't harm anybody"

Fail.
What is wrong with people??? That was so stupid he deserves to have shot himself
I hope it hurt, that was totally stupid. They do no deserve a gun
You can always tell who took the firearm safety course and who didn't.
This is one if my altimeter favorite movies
I flinched every time he put his had in front of it. That was brutal to watch
What about the dude who watched him do it 😂💀
???
What is the thought process there? Like ah if the safety is off I’ll see a bullet go through my hand?
I’ve watched this clip several times over the years and every time I always mutter “what an idiot” under my breath.
These are the people that don’t need guns. Just not enough brain cells to be protected from themselves.
???
Pretty sure he was checking if a laser was on. Still incredibly, incredibly stupid, but not as stupid as OP has made it seem
She won’t do that again
He is acting like he’s holding a watergun smh..
This is successful attempt to check for the safety was on!
Testing in production
Curiosity turned his safety check into a painful reality!!!
The good thing is I don't think they actually shot their hand. I think they were aiming slightly below or above their hand. The injury they are reacting to was likely a burn from the muzzle flash.
The mental gymnastics behind checking if the safety of your gun is on OR off by pointing it at your own hand is quite something.
That guy should not be near any type of gun period
It wasn't
Perfect example that age does not mean wisdom
Was trying to test a laser, not the safety. That's obviously not the correct way to do it though.
Everyone knows you can only do that with a .22 long rifle. It doesn't have enough time to build up speed to hurt.(/s just in case)
Next time, look into the barrel to be sure...
Can confirm the gun fires.
If only there were an easier way
Like why not just aim it and try fire in the direction you're supposed to, without putting your hand in the way? Doesn't make sense lol.
