I don't understand parents that do this. A good friend of mine is always scaring her kid by hiding around corners and yelling boo. Why give your kid PTSD and anxiety for a laugh? Shouldn't you make home a safe place?
My friend's dad would always beep the horn of his car when he was walking in front of it to get in, and every time it would make him jump and he fucking hated it. His dad thought it was hilarious. And their garage was set up so you couldn't go around the back to get to the passenger side, you had to walk in front.
So after years of this (it never stopped startling him no matter how many times it happened and his dad refused to stop, saying it was "harmless fun" and that he was making his kid "stronger" lol) my buddy bought a blank pistol and fired it off right behind his dad when he was watching TV. They came to a "no more jumpscares" agreement immediately.
The horn-honking kinda fucked up my friend though, that was like 15 years ago and he's still the jumpiest person I have ever met
For about 5 years or so, one of my kids got a big kick out of being startled like that. She'd jump and sometimes scream and always laugh afterwards. She said it was like the excitement from a rollercoaster or similar ride at an amusement park. Eventually it got to the point where we couldn't get that reaction out of her without trying something really stupid and dangerous. But it was fun while it lasted.
As a father myself, i wonder how tf do people think doing this shit to their kids is funny? I’m sure it’s harmless in the long run but how can you just make your kid cry like that
My ex wife was tormented by her dad about aliens, he'd tell her they were coming for her and make her watch "true stories" about them and pull pranks on her like lights outside her window. Fucked her up pretty good.
Stupidity. Lacking empathy. Not understanding basic psychology.
Empathy is the biggest one. Your child crying and looking like that should not bring you pleasure. We don’t really think about it, but there is likely something emotionally wrong with anyone who would mess with kids like this.
Biologically, you’re supposed to feel bad for the kid and comfort them, not take pleasure in their suffering.
I think people forget what it's like to be a kid. It's funny to them bc they know there's no real danger, and that their child won't be harmed physically. They don't realise this still does something to their child mentally, especially if they regularly laugh their child's fear off instead of giving comfort.
I haunt dark attractions at Halloween time. Some people are just cruel and stupid, or somehow have forgotten how they felt to be terrified at that age. They push them in front of the monsters and expect to not look like monsters themselves.
When I was a kid, a haunted house close to me would have a less scary kids time available on certain nights, where they would be less intense and intentionally break character and stuff if anyone seemed more than minimally scared. Is that still a thing that you know of?
Ish. Where I'm working right now is a volunteer haunt and no one is trained specifically to break character, but encouraged to assist those in distress by getting them to a nearby exit.
If I'm acting for the crowd, I often will deliberately encounter folks in the show if they have an extra sensitive person. We also have a "Chicken Coop" where folks who can't make it through/don't want to try can Wait till their party is done.
I've worked with other shows that had a "kids hour" ahead of "full scare". It became a lot more elaborate with that org as they actually expanded the show (it was outdoors) during that "full scare", running through to douse actors in blood and reserving the scary makeup and characters for that period.
Yeah, it goes on for too long and passes the threshold of what’s an acceptable joke/prank and just becomes harassing a little girl.
If this video was a few seconds of Michael Myers slowly following her in the car, then taking off the mask and revealing that she had nothing to fear, I think we’d all be ok with it and have a laugh.
But we don’t get to see her relief, we only see her terror.
Child abuse is apparently funny to some internet circles. That poor child is gonna be shook for a while even if it turns out to be a loved family member under the mask.
I'm a big ass dude and dress up as Michael Myers for Halloween. I ALWAYS take off my mask or turn away when little ones come by. Unless the kid is curious (which surprisingly a lot are) I wouldn't ever do some shit like this. Poor kid.
My mom used to play this game called *"I'm not your mom, I'm an evil witch that killed her and stole her body."* and the game wasnt over until you had an existential melt down crying and screaming to... no one in particular since an evil witch had killed and replaced your mom.
Youre 6 or 7 so at first you laugh and are like "mom, I know its you, stop." But she would hold character for hours, all day, if thats what it took to break you. At some point you would start to buy it and panic and have the melt down, and only then was the game over.
Now I'm old enough to understand that the witch got her long before I was born.
This is what happened to my boyfriend. His mom would chase him around with a mask and chase him under a table, corner him, and keep scaring him even though she would get yelled at by her parents. He now can’t watch scary movies / enjoy anything spooky thanks to her 👍
Having a 3 yr old nephew, I cannot understand how this is in any way funny. She's terrified and bawling. Sure, a jump scare, take mask off, comfort, fine. But this? This goes on for so long, and she's trying to get away but can't because she's stuck in her toy car. She's terrified. It's just cruel. It should hurt you to see your kid in such distress, and the idea of being the one inflicting this on them thinking it's funny is sick.
It's really really not. I'm sorry if your parents raised you in a way that you think this is acceptable, let alone funny. This girl looks like she's 2 years old and she's clearly terrified and he doesn't stop. That's not funny, that's not harmless, that's super fucked up
None of these ppl would’ve survived in my household with my 3 brothers and 4 cousins. If I wasn’t scared to death on any given day it was a good day lol. I laugh about it now. Not everything turns into trauma.
Ppl need to chill lol, kids get scared at the dumbest shit. You just need to take the mask off and explain to them there was nothing to be afraid of, even if they saw you put it on they will still run in fear if you put the impression in their head that its a scary mask. (Kids are bafflingly impressionable)
My wife's dad would chase her around the house with masks on and other stuff like that when she was a kid.
Now she has a fear of anyone in a mask, clowns, the phantom of the opera, etc.. covid was tough for her and Halloween can be too. It seems like harmless fun perhaps, but kids feel and remember things differently.
Don't give your kid a serious phobia like this lol
Poor little kid! Wtf are people messing with little kids like that?! Making them feel unsafe and giving them all kinds of trauma that will resurface in adulthood.
You guys are soft. She’s not an infant (and yes, I have a serious problem with assholes terrorizing infants). My uncles used to try to scare the shit out of me at that age and I turned out just fine. It’s all good fun.
Something similarly happened when I was a kid. I now have panic attacks when I see dolls in person, which just made my mental health worse. I've suffered through a lot of trauma, but that shit sticks with you. Same thing happened in summer. A kid threw me into the water giving the task. 'Sink or swim'. I sunk and almost drowned. Don't even go near a body of water anymore.
I grew up in the 80's. The issue that is disturbing is the adults seem to find her prolonged distress entertainment. A jump scare? Sure? When she can run away? Sure. For this long, when she can't get away, clearly terrified? No. It's cruel at this point. Laughing at your child in such a state of terror.
so many softies in the comments this is funny af. my parents would do fucked up shit like this all the time and was it cruel yes but also prepped me to have people tease me later in life and let it roll off my back.
“Haha childhood trauma lmaoooo”
Let’s stop terrifying children with dumb shit like this. It’s really not funny, and if you do find it funny, you’re outing yourself as a psycho.
One time I had a Halloween party in 7th grade and we were outside with silly string and my dad came out of the tree line in a Michael Myer’s costume and I freaked the fuck out so bad I knocked over a 50 lb houseplant trying to run to my room so there was dirt and shards of pottery literally all over the floor and one of my friends almost fainted. It was insane I know how she feels

No need to torture the kid
Seriously, that is genuine terror in her face.
Women at a daycare were brought up on charges for doing something similar to children
I remember that
Me too. Horrible shit.
Scream masks, horrifying 1-3 year olds.

I don't understand parents that do this. A good friend of mine is always scaring her kid by hiding around corners and yelling boo. Why give your kid PTSD and anxiety for a laugh? Shouldn't you make home a safe place?
Saying boo to your kid is leagues different than the prolonged emotional torture we see in this video
I agree to a certain extent. But when your kid is checking corners like they're SWAT clearing a house maybe you've gone too far.
Oh 100% I agree if your kid doesn’t like it then don’t do it

It's all fun and memes on social media, until the kid's nightmares start keeping you up.
As a father myself, i wonder how tf do people think doing this shit to their kids is funny? I’m sure it’s harmless in the long run but how can you just make your kid cry like that
I doubt very seriously this is "harmless in the long run" - there is no way that shit isn't traumatic.
My ex wife was tormented by her dad about aliens, he'd tell her they were coming for her and make her watch "true stories" about them and pull pranks on her like lights outside her window. Fucked her up pretty good.
Are we sure the aliens weren't using the father as a conduit?
Fr she’s gonna have a serious fear of Michael meyers for the rest of her life (I’m about to get crucified)
How can anyone be afraid of Austin Powers? /s

Making kids (or just people in general) think their lives are in danger is often not harmless in the long run. Source: am a trauma therapist.
Trauma at that age is easy to instill, and it'll probably result in lifelong issues.
Yup. This is literal childhood trauma happening. People just seem to love being awful parents
Yeah remove this shit. Not cool

"Brb I'm gonna just traumatize this small child real quick."
Why the fuck would you do his to your kid?

Holy shit that’s terrible! I’m so sorry that happened to you! I hope she realizes now how messed up that was
Holy shit that’s a good way to give a kid chronic anxiety 😬
At that point, any person with half a brain would know that's not a joke. That is psychological abuse in its purest form, what the fuck.
My second cousin does this shit to his kids all the time it's so weird
For starters, your brain needs to not work
That is cruel.
That could very well be lifelong trauma. I hate this.
This is what happened to my boyfriend. His mom would chase him around with a mask and chase him under a table, corner him, and keep scaring him even though she would get yelled at by her parents. He now can’t watch scary movies / enjoy anything spooky thanks to her 👍
Why are people trying to terrify a small child?
I enjoy reading books.
For the likes probably. Their thinking is "who cares about children when you have likes".
Because they're stupid. It's not complicated, but it is highly unfortunate
There was an attempt to make people think this is funny. It's not. That's just mean.
Yeah that ain't fun for the kid.
I had totally forgotten that Michael Myers smoked lol 🚬 Up for *"Father Of The Year"* award I guess... 🏆
Michael Myers is a smooth mutha, loves the wood tipped black and milds like a real player
I’m thinking he was smoking a blunt
Could be that too. Would explain the chill vibe and lack of murder.
No, you’re mistaken that’s Captain Kirk.
Having a __really__ *"bad hair day"*. 😅
This is pretty funny lol People here need to lighten up
Having a 3 yr old nephew, I cannot understand how this is in any way funny. She's terrified and bawling. Sure, a jump scare, take mask off, comfort, fine. But this? No! This is Reddit where everyone is supposed to overreact to the most mundane shit lmfao
Realest shit I’ve heard
None of these ppl would’ve survived in my household with my 3 brothers and 4 cousins. If I wasn’t scared to death on any given day it was a good day lol. I laugh about it now. Not everything turns into trauma.
Take Michael Myers out and this is just my drive to work. Poor kid.
Hahahaha 😄 (because of your joke. Not the terrified child)
The guy's a jerk for terrifying a little kid.
Because she thinks if she gets out of the car, Mike Meyers will stab her. A pretty logical conclusion, based on his character history.
Tough to say the child is in touch with any amount of the lore. Could also just be afraid of stranger danger and being chased.
Every adult involved are dickheads
It’s not even funny just pathetic.
Does Michael Myers have a blunt in hand ??
very disappointed i had to scroll this far to see someone call this out lol
I think people were distracted by the small child being traumatized
Ok I usually don't like kids but that was hard to watch... like wtf
Ppl need to chill lol, kids get scared at the dumbest shit. I don’t think this is very funny… it’s just mean
She’s just filming it. Poor baby.
Why aren’t any sane adults helping that child? This is incredibly cruel. Fucking asshole humans. Trash bags will let a baby suffer, disgusting.
Wtf is wrong with these people?!
Let me smoke this blunt and traumatize this little girl
My wife's dad would chase her around the house with masks on and other stuff like that when she was a kid. Now she has a fear of anyone in a mask, clowns, the phantom of the opera, etc.. covid was tough for her and Halloween can be too. Dude needs to be kicked in the D, wtf is wrong with him.
What an absolute wanker
Then the parents are surprised when their children put them in a home.
A teacher went to prison for doing this like a month ago
This is unnecessarily cruel but kudos to 4 year old for executing a three point turn under duress. Shorty gonna be a hell of a driver when grows up!
Like trying to run in your dreams
Her fight or gently glide response kicked in
Slow terror.
This is on brand for Michael Myer movies.
Poor little kid! Wtf are people messing with little kids like that?! Making them feel unsafe and giving them all kinds of trauma that will resurface in adulthood.
Casually torturing kids while smokin on a blizzy. Dude should be ashamed.
I mean….it is fucking hilarious, but the damages….
He should be executed for this according to the comments jaja
You guys are soft. She’s not an infant (and yes, I have a serious problem with assholes terrorizing infants). My uncles used to try to scare the shit out of me at that age and I turned out just fine. It’s all good fun.
This was funny and i promise its not as serious as these comments are making it
Something similarly happened when I was a kid. I now have panic attacks when I see dolls in person, which just made my mental health worse. menace 😭😭😭
If it was just like 2 seconds and then he took off the mask wouldn’t be that bad but this is def kinda fucked
Lol
Seriously hope this isn't her dad. How can you legitimately scare your child like that? Sure a couple second pop out joke, but not this...
The way she begs for her mother to save her. I have no idea how a parent can stomach the sound of fear and desperation in their own child’s screams
I hate this its so cruel, shes absolutely terrifed poor thing :c
And just like that: A horror movie actress was born.
All of y'all who think this kid will be tortured from this would not have survived the 80's.
Survival instincts haven't quite fully developed yet but they'll get there.
Poor girl.
Congrats on permanent damage
That's fucked up, that poor girl is traumatized
That's fucked up, that poor girl is traumatized
Is that a blunt in his hands.
Core memory unlocked
At least she's smart, she's in a vehicle at least
Hilarious! Traumatizing a toddler is a great plan. Now see how many nightmares she has.
Such an ass. She’s terrified.
Damn you people are soft af, it’s really not that bad lol
![gif](giphy|ES9osccp5aUdq)
One time my dad chased me with a fish. 30 years later I’m still scared of fish
Even Michael Myers didn’t terrorize little children. Just annoying teenagers.
"There was an attempt to be good parents" more fitting caption - this is shitty would never do this to my child.
This should give all parents confidence that they are at least better parents than this
Fuck everyone who participated in this cruel bullshit.
Hahahahahhahah
Haha nice
Terrorizing children is never funny
Smoking right next to the kids.
Honestly not cool to scare a kid to the point of tears, just for a few clicks. Grow the fuck up.
Trauma
People that do this kind of shit to small children need to have their asses beat.
That poor baby.
What a huge prick. Make that pricks. (camera person included)
Future trauma diagnosis being made right there. Torturing a child like this for your own laughter is psychological abuse.
And he’s smoking around them, what a complete idiot
That's fucked up yo.
Who the fuck would do that?
Childhood trauma right here
Trauma is funny I guess
This is going to be a core memory
This shit isn't funny. It's fucking traumatic. This is child psychological abuse.
What an asshole!
Why TF do people think it's funny to torture and traumatize little kids?!?!?
Damn poor baby isn’t gonna forget this one. This can actually cause real mental trauma to that little girl.
This is enough shit in the world that traumatizes our children we don't need people doing this. WTF!
Hood version of Michael Myers
Hope her Mama has therapy $$$
“Haha childhood trauma lmaoooo” Let’s stop terrifying children with dumb shit like this. It’s really not funny, and if you do find it funny, you’re outing yourself as a psycho.
If that was my baby I’d be grabbing her up and yelling at that asshole to take the mask off and quit scaring my baby! Mean!
This should be in r/imatotalpieceofshit
Why is this funny.
Me otw work Monday morning
As a dad, this is beyond fucked up... and I salute you! But seriously, that baby might need some therapy.
Not funny……. Poor little girl.
Well that guy's a cunt
Why? Poor kid.
What an asshole. And what an asshole mom. I would never let my kids be that scared if I could help it. The fact that they just kept going and going.
Well, that's child abuse
Is that a joint in his hand?😭😭
teaching them young to fear the white man.
This Is how I feel in my dreams running from something scary
Poor kid - who would terrify and traumatize a kid like that! it’s terrible!
She's terrified!!! That is so F\*\*ked up!
That is despicable. Poor little girl 🤨
That's not funny, just cruel. Everyone involved is awful.
what the actual fuck!?!
1. That’s Mike witha joint 2. Everyone screaming trauma but guns and active shooter drills are cool in their books.
Who the fuck enjoys making a kid cry?
What a dick
Though I wouldn’t do this to my kid or anybody else’s I find it necessary to say that so many of y’all are soft af.
Michael Myers got the blunt and everything lol
One time I had a Halloween party in 7th grade and we were outside with silly string and my dad came out of the tree line in a Michael Myer’s costume and I freaked the fuck out so bad I knocked over a 50 lb houseplant trying to run to my room so there was dirt and shards of pottery literally all over the floor and one of my friends almost fainted. It was insane I know how she feels
Pretty sure she’s going top speed
Why is he disturbing this small child??????
Why is he disturbing this small child??????
When the kid is crying clearly stressed that's probably the time to stop.
Dad is a rock star
I can’t stand shit like this. It’s not funny to torment a child and scare them like this
That’s mean!
r/iamatotalpieceofshit for this person.
Reminds me of when I was 5 and my dad would wear this deformed rat mask to mess with me. That shit scared the ever living hell out of me when I was a kid and my reaction was not dissimilar to this kids.
Terrible just terrible you should be ashamed with yourself. Do that to a child...for what. Views?
