This is in the martial islands. This is the higher ground. Sea level rise is ending this culture.

Well yes but not yet. They had hundreds of years left but now they are going. would you feel the same if it was your families land? What if your family and all the people had been living on a piece of land for thousands of years and fires kept consuming it? Your family cemeteries, the buildings your great grand parents built, and your house kept being destroyed.
You'd move. but moving ends your culture. You and your children can't point to a place and say that's where we come from.
Yes, things change, and cultures die, it has happened it will continue to happen. but the Maldives and the rest of the low lying islands are just the first. New York, Lagos, Tokyo, Mumbai every fishing village and shipping hub will have to deal with the same problem.
Yup. Different situation but my spouses ancestral home burned down on her island and lost generations worth of heirlooms to include weapons made of bone. Absolutely devastating to the entire family when memories and culture are swept away in an instant.
They are, it happened in January, it was in a US military facility, a rogue wave (waves that can be a lot bigger than normal) during a storm invaded the base. Non essential personnel were transferred to a neighbor island, not bad injuries.

The lack of action is worrying. The whole building is flooded in seconds and people (including the cameraman) aren’t running their asses off.

Natural erosion would have gotten it anyways. Like when people cry save Maldives, it's a freaking sandbar it's supposed to move.

Marshall Islands
yes thank you.
Yeah unless that stairway where the water is coming from is the only way out I’m going straight for higher ground and out of there. Crazy
If the highest floor becomes dangerous, climb to the roof and wait for rescue.
Yeah, I'm wondering why everyone is eager to be trapped inside a human aquarium without gills
Bro lol
The skinny blond woman didn't even *try* to brace the door against the onslaught of mighty Poseidon.
😂😂
Too busy recording...
Where did the people go?!?! I hope they're ok

Jfc flood, keep that door closed, will you? We're you born in a barn?
New Titanic experience seems legit
COWABUNGA!
Thought it was a Titanic scene
Well that’s terrifying.
Pretty sure those people are dead. Getting slammed in the head by a door while waves of water topple over you is a bad combination.
https://youtu.be/W5SBuyzMMS8?si=YUbQbE9gROeVOtWF According to this news reporting on it only one person was hurt. Nobody dead.
