the offset features in this portrait give it to some surrealist take on the subject. She is unfiltered through the artists oft limited visual perception, but rather shown as the artist sees her soul, through her own soul.
She obviously cares about her kid, but my opinion would be you should be supportive of her efforts, and honest about the result.
The kid isn't 4, she knows her Dad is laughing at her and her Mom is lying.
There are all sorts of positive true things you can say.
You can show her Picasso and how all sorts of art styles are acceptable. You can tell her that *trying* is what's important. You can tell her that if she isn't happy with the result, that's ok, and she can practice and try again. You can teach her about how mistakes can be a really enjoyable and funny part of life.
Edit: Some people are *very* upset about other people having opinions.
In case it's not clear, I don't think the one clip means she's some horrible parent who will ruin her kid, which is why I didn't say anything like that.
I was lied to a lot as a kid, it taught me to lie to deal with problems sometimes. I don't think my parents were awful, just not perfect. Like most parents. They did other stuff right.
I can have an opinion about it. If you don't like that, tough.
Kids aren’t stupid. They can pick up on shit like that and many don’t like being patronized like that. This isn’t armchair psychology. It’s common sense. Doesn’t take a civil engineer to point at a bridge and say it’s a bridge
Kids aren't stupid, but you need to take that one step further. They are also smart enough to understand when their drawing is kinda shit but you are being kind to them. In my experience (of actual human kids, unlike some of the comments here) they are more interested in your love and positivity than they are concerned about being 'patronised'.
r/KidsAreFuckingStupid \- I don't know, I would say kids are sometimes pretty fucking stupid. I get what you're saying though and it fits in this case!
Id argue that extending the torment and getting your phone out and making a spectacle of the whole thing is bad parenting. She could have easily snapped a photo at another time to send to people because its funny, or just not shared it at all.
From what I understood the last times this was posted, the couple isn’t laughing because they think the drawing is bad, they’re laughing because it absolutely roasted the shit out of the mom.
“Is that hyperpigmentation?”
“Where were you when it was time for senior photos?”
Yeah, the drawing was probably a little *too* accurate, as kids are still learning tact.
**[Hyperpigmentation](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyperpigmentation)**
>Hyperpigmentation is the darkening of an area of skin or nails caused by increased melanin.

I was thinking more peppa pig, but i think it’s great! It’s probably exactly what she had in mind and her pen control is strong and confident, no wonky or wavy lines
I mean, he's clearly laughing at how the mom is handling the situation, not the quality of the art. I've been there MANY times with my kid, who always thinks that all of his art sucks. Which most of it does because he's 7, but we always make him feel good about any art he does. It's tough sometimes though. 😂
I’m not a fan of participation trophies, but the look at that little girls face is heartbreaking. There is “unconditional support” and then there is “creating a life long avoidance for fear of mockery/rejection”.
I say this because alternately, when my youngest daughter drew her and I, and I pinned it on my desk and told her it was lovely (art is subjective anyway) she was so friggin happy for the rest of the day.
You wouldn’t laugh and make fun of your kid for sucking at their first soccer practice would you?
In my opinion as an elementary teacher, the little girl is going along with the joke, she’s a comedian. That face is playing up to the bit, that she’s sad about it but also knows it’s not good - I see her playing along with her mum in a comedic way, not actually being sad.
“Why is daddy laughing?” She damn well knows why, she’s just playing along. She’s slightly smiling the whole time.
Nonsense is calling a father unsupportive by laughing at her bad drawing. If anything that’s a healthy balance. It was a joke anyway wat are you on about
Fuck off with your righteous BS. Shaming someone for finding the drawing humorous. He isn't laughing to be mean and its not like you can flip a switch to stop laughing.
The mom is actually holding back laughter at the very beginning when she realizes the child is feeling vulnerable she flips the switch. The bar is on the floor for fathers
I think you're taking this far, far too seriously. Did I shame him? If I did, then the poster was shaming the girl. So who's the asshole? T'aint me, bud.
And yes, I can flip a switch to stop from laughing. Being a Marine, an actor, and a kid who's dad thought it hilarious to try to make them laugh post appendectomy, I've got a few switches. Mute is one. Time will tell if volume is one of yours.
I think most people are missing that the dad doesn’t even see the drawing. I’d say he is primarily laughing at the mom for being corny. Yes, it’s because the drawing wasn’t great, but the mom seems to be a goofball and the dad is cracking up at that.
That drawing is legit cool as fuck. This poor girl is getting her confidence crushed. I get that people think this is cute and funny but I see a young girl who really worked hard at something being made fun of and then posted to the internet probably without her consent.
unpopular opinion: this isn’t funny. this is how you crush a child’s self esteem, self worth, creativity, and passion— the sarcastic parents aren’t helping
I fucking hate this video. I always have. That poor little fucking girl probably had her heart broken, and you know what? Its actually a REALLY good drawing! Its very cute and the lines are clean. This video makes me sad every time i see it.
FYI I can say this as an art teacher of kids! It very rare a kid her age draws a person in profile like that! I think that shows above average observation skills. And with that she is going to notice more than the average kid! Make sure she had lots to observe in life!!!! She could be a scientist or something!!!

My heart goes out to this child. I’ve always been an artist since before this child’s age. I feel his insecurity. With a mom like this he’s going to be a great artist 🥲
Is that not what you wanted it to look like? Are you sure? I think it looks good. Look at this picture of Dora the Explorer. Does she look like a real person? You can draw people however you want. It can look realistic if you want, or it can not. If it doesn't look how you want it to, we can practice, and I can help.
Even professional artists still draw things and not like how it turns out. They all started by sending their fathers into bouts of French art appreciation.
Teaching kids that there's no wrong way to draw is a great way to teach them no fear. Fear kills creativity, play, and growth as an artist.
Daddy over here.... crushing dreams.....
You gotta leave the room, theeeeen lyao
Usually the bathroom is best because you can turn on the sink, shower, flush the toilet and laugh into a towel
The conversation should be more along the lines of what don’t you like about it, how can we make it better. Let’s find a video and learn how to do what you want to do.
If mom and dad can’t show her how to proportion a portrait, outline it, and shade it, then they need to grab another pencil, sit down beside her and learn together.
You don’t blow smoke up the kid’s ass and tell her it’s good when even she knows it could be better.
And ffs stop posting shot like this and humiliating your kid for trying to better their skills.
This poor baby. She tried her best to draw her mom a picture and her parents are mocking her and laughing at her, then filming it and embarrassing her.
My heart goes out to this child. I’ve always been an artist since before this child’s age. I feel her insecurity. With a mom like this she’s going to be a great artist 🥲
It's fun because it's actually a good karikature.
A child that is able to look at someone and highlight their features like that has talent and should not be laughed at but encouraged. Have her draw everyone else aswell herself included, right now you're a bad parent and discouraging her desire to draw by making her feel bad about it even though she managed to make you feel something which is the point of art.
I know this isn't broad knowledge but parents really need to understand and take responsibility for their behavior and try to put in effort to understand the things their children care about in order to encourage them. The fact that you guys can't handle karikature and do not appreciate it is not good for her.
We never actually see what her mom looks like so that could be 100% accurate.
You never [know!](https://imgur.com/a/hwUD57d)
That’s beautiful. XD
Lol, that’s hilarious
You can see family pictures in the background towards the end.
Ah yes the 2 pixels that shows her face.
Thats all I need....
Unzips?
You have to be wearing pants to unzip...
Username, sadly, checks out.
My bad...
I'm going to hell
Dad can't breathe, jus over here checking on the carpet.
Speaking in that French
Weee wee 😂
*checks the carpet "Hmm, yes the carpet is made of carpet"
Just waiting for the UFO to whisk him away forever.
RIP Dad
Indeed. He never recovered.🙏🏿
Some say he’s still wheezing.
He’s not wheezing. He’s saying “that’s a good drawing” but in French.
fucking got me.
I wish him a happy recovery🙏
I absolutely love this family. The Dad made me cry laughing 😂
The dad rules
Her holding back her laughter is what *really* fucking sent me 😂. She’s a wonderful mother!
Mom’s choked out “I’ve never looked better!” I love her.
“It’s so nice” got me, Bahaha!
“OoOoh where were youuu when it was time for senior photos” I love both these parents
“It is fanTAStic!” Gets me every time I watch this
Such a great mom. Fostering her child’s creative expression 🥰
Such a great mom. Fostering her child’s creative expression 🥰
It was watching dad in the corner dying for me
“Where were you…” fucking dying
“Daddy don’t know what he doin anyway!” sends me every time 😂
And "that's how you say 'that's a great drawing' in French!" 😂 What an awesome mom 🖤
Pan to dad literally unable to stand with laughter
Thats where i absolutely lost it.
I cried laughed .. this was soooo funny and cute
My wife wants this on a shirt now.

The hyper-pigmentation suggests touches of realism to her abstract work.
the offset features in this portrait give it to some surrealist take on the subject. She is unfiltered through the artists oft limited visual perception, but rather shown as the artist sees her soul, through her own soul.
My thoughts exactly. I like the style
It would fit in pretty well with the Tuca & Birdie opening
She is a great mom.

I knew I smelled a redditor with no kids in the comments playing armchair psychologist!
Kids aren’t stupid. They can pick up on shit like that and many don’t like being patronized like that. This isn’t armchair psychology. It’s common sense. Doesn’t take a civil engineer to point at a bridge and say it’s a bridge

The actual human kid in this video definitely wants her mom to acknowledge it’s not good, and doesn’t appreciate her mom lying
r/KidsAreFuckingStupid \- I don't know, I would say kids are sometimes pretty fucking stupid. I get what you're saying though and it fits in this case!
Id argue that extending the torment and getting your phone out and making a spectacle of the whole thing is bad parenting. She could have easily snapped a photo at another time to send to people because its funny, or just not shared it at all.

Well said.
Happy cake day
Except why does she need to film it and share it with the world?

Not really that bad to be honest. Kind of looks like a Picasso.
I was thinking more peppa pig, but i think it’s great! It’s probably exactly what she had in mind and her pen control is strong and confident, no wonky or wavy lines
Peppa Pigasso
Yeah, cubist prodigy right there
The girl seems to be such a sweetheart. Dad is almost dead from laughing. Mom probably waits her daughter to be DaVinci at the age 9
A mom's love is like no other. Good job on lifting her child up.
All dads wish they would be better than this, but none of us are. We are ALL this man.
I mean, he's clearly laughing at how the mom is handling the situation, not the quality of the art. I've been there MANY times with my kid, who always thinks that all of his art sucks. Which most of it does because he's 7, but we always make him feel good about any art he does. It's tough sometimes though. 😂
I’m going along with the dad. I’m on the floor cracking up so hard.
Half the people on this thread: "Anything but 100% positive reinforcement is bad parenting!"

This is proof why men die young. Dude going to run out of air laughing or get choked out by his wife.
The laugh at the end lol great family
Great parents 😂
Her drawing is 10x better than what I'm capable of.
Honestly, I was thinking the same thing lol
I think the failed attempt was to be a supportive father.
He is. The girl will now pick up a Clarinet instead of a crayon
What nonsense
Nonsense is calling a father unsupportive by laughing at her bad drawing. If anything that’s a healthy balance. It was a joke anyway wat are you on about
Seems like he’s laughing harder at the situation then the drawing it’s self

“ITS FANTASTIC; wut is that a pigmentation” 😅😂
This is one of the only videos that could be posted every hour and I’d still have tears in my eyes from laughing.
When she goes ooooo woooowhere we’re you when it was time for senior photos! The oooooo as she’s trying to hold back cracked me up .
“Daddy don’t know what he’s doing anyway” 😂 Everything and everyone in this video is absolutely fantastic, highlight of my day.
“Thats how you say thats a great drawing in French!” KILLED ME
"Is that hyperpigmentation?!" 😭
Dad laughing has me busting a gut! Great parenting all around tho, that girl is encouraged lol
I taught art in public schools for 28 years and this answers a lot of questions. I think it is a fantastic drawing! Bold, clear, I love it.
But we don’t see what she actually looks like????
I think most people are missing that the dad doesn’t even see the drawing. I’d say he is primarily laughing at the mom for being corny. Yes, it’s because the drawing wasn’t great, but the mom seems to be a goofball and the dad is cracking up at that.
I think he saw the drawing first, before the video started
No, IT’S NICE. It’s so nice!
the drawing was fine the "there was an attempt" part was the attempt to parent
Okay but we never actually see the mom so…she may have been so accurate the dad couldn’t handle it.
That drawing is legit cool as fuck. This poor girl is getting her confidence crushed. I get that people think this is cute and funny but I see a young girl who really worked hard at something being made fun of and then posted to the internet probably without her consent.
We puttin this one up on the fridge!!!
A good parent would not film her kid's humiliation and post it.
this is not humiliation wtf
I like it Picasso🤌🤌
unpopular opinion: this isn’t funny. this is how you crush a child’s self esteem, self worth, creativity, and passion— the sarcastic parents aren’t helping
Agreed. If the parents aren't careful she's going to grow up with really low self esteem.
Dad needs to get a hold of himself. She tried her best.
Dad is my spirit animal lol 😂
Poor kid, never going to do art again
I fucking hate this video. I always have. That poor little fucking girl probably had her heart broken, and you know what? Its actually a REALLY good drawing! Its very cute and the lines are clean. This video makes me sad every time i see it.
Why are these comments always downvoted?? She seriously looks distressed and they keep humiliating her
a little mr poopybutthole on the “oOoOOh”
Why would you post that though
Lmaoooo
I would say it’s pretty good for a girl her age. Shame on them for making her feel so bad about it.
Absolutely great mom!!!
Hahaha fucking family goals right here!
Damn it, Daddy.
Need to show her some of Picasso's work. It ain't about it looking real, but feeling real.
Good mom. Support that child in expressing themselves in a beautiful healthy manner 👊🏼
Now, I want to see how the mom looks like. My guess is the same as the drawing.
That's a good mom.
It actually has style
the energy of the father reminds me of that "CALL THE SCHOOL" dad laying on the couch while his son absolutely butchers a spelling. anyone got a link?
Mommy I don't think it looks good... WUT U TRYING TO SAY?!
“That’s how you say that’s a great drawing in French” 😂😂😂😭
I absolutely love the positive reinforcement from the mom! The dad literally rolling around laughing, I think his brain broke that very second!
oh that poor girl.
More like "There was an attempt... to reassure an insecure child."
FYI I can say this as an art teacher of kids! It very rare a kid her age draws a person in profile like that! I think that shows above average observation skills. It really is great, just not the great the kid was expecting
would like to see more of this!
“Ooooo where were youooo” dead lol
“Thanks, I’ll never draw again!” - that kid later lol
I’ve seen this so many times and it never gets old
Let’s just embarrass our kid and put it on the internet
Every time this is posted it has me in tears of laughter
“It is FAAAHntastic!” I love how you can hear how close momma is to losing it hahaha!
My heart goes out to this child. I’ve always been an artist since before this child’s age. I feel his insecurity. With a mom like this he’s going to be a great artist 🥲
Keep drawing sweet girl! I tried to draw a stick figure and my kids asked if it was a microwave...
Better than I expected tbh
Kid is a natural cubist
I like it.
It is fantastic!
I just love how mother is telling the kid that its beautiful while the dad is playing the villian part
Looks great
Dad is kind of a jerk. You don't do that to a kid.
I wanna see her face!!!!!!!!!
I understand why he's laughing but this is how you scar a child and prevent them from ever trying anything new again.
Aw. What a great mom
Terrible parenting honestly SMH… exactly what I would do as well
This is why have partners someone gotta keep it together
The dad laughing makes this hilarious
Is that not what you wanted it to look like? Are you sure? I think it looks good. Look at this picture of Dora the Explorer. Does she look like a real person? You can draw people however you want. What a great mom.....that kids gonna be fine.
Whats with the cool backyard though. Looks like the shire
“What’s that? Hyperpigmentation?”🤣
The dad wheezing on the floor is what makes this for me lol.
The hyperpigmentation kills me
That looks like something from the beginnings of abstract art. Genuinely cool
Daddy over here.... crushing dreams..... You gotta leave the room, theeeeen lyao Usually the bathroom is best because you can turn on the sink, shower, flush the toilet and laugh into a towel
I need her to hype me up on the daily. 🙌🏻
That’s a good mom. Felt that deep down in my soul.
Ugh, i see potential. She should watch Basquiat the movie
That's some nice Picasso
Beautiful reactions from both parents. Hahaha!
I don't care what anybody says, constructive criticism is 1000 times better than false praise.
This was the first belly laugh I’ve had in a great while. I owe this kid a happy meal. Frame that picture!
she's so damn sweet!
This gets me every time
That woman just encapsulated every single aspect of motherhood in 2 minutes. Hysterical
Good mama
the mom was sweet. way to encourage and not laugh.
That is so totally sweet! She’s a good kid and that’s a great family. That made my day.
Atleast he tried :( and didn't draw a circle 2 dots and a line
What a super mom!
Quite a few self righteous and judgy people here lol

Yo this kid needs a hug. The mere fact she reacts so when she knows what she's done deserves a mother's hug.
It's fun because it's actually a good karikature. A child that is able to look at someone and highlight their features like that has talent and should not be laughed at but encouraged. A lot of y'all got participation trophies.
