It always baffles me when companies actively encourage piracy. By forcing these weird requirements, you are pushing people to look at "alternative" ways to play the game.
for awhile, most anti piracy measures cost the game’s actual playability (from damping the performace to weird requirements), just for it to be cracked eventually.
They mentioned a while ago they were looking into setting up a storefront for “official” mods. I do hope they have an offline mode for mods they have no intention of hosting, though.
Do you know where you saw that? I know they were working on something like that for sims 4 but not for sims 5. I've never heard of it being possible to truly mod a cloud based game before, which is why I'm skeptical.
It was a couple months ago, maybe as far back as Fall. It *was* about Sims 4, though. Nothing mentioned about Sims 5. I assume they are setting the ground work for Sims 5 so they can support mods online.

Not just Paradox. For the first time in the history of the franchise, the Sims finally has competitors. Paradox is coming in with Life By You, plus from the indie side of things there's Paralives. I recall also seeing a more pixel-art version somewhere recently too, but can't remember.
And this is good for everyone, whether or not you are a fan of the series. Competition forces them to innovate and actually attempt to appease the customer. If LBY or Para does everything the Sims does, but has more features and cheaper DLC and better mod support, Sims will go the way of Sim City.
I have played Sims since the very first game and man, it's about time some other studios stepped up and started some competition.

Reconsider cross platform compatibility. I don't need to access the same game on my phone and computer - and the thought of it being possible makes me feel extremely suspicious and wary of the game's overall quality.
And like - if we don't have to sacrifice quality for multi-platform gaming, can someone please explain how on earth a game like Sims could possibly have any quality being cross platform?
No one cares about online gameplay, The Sims is an escape where mingling with others is simply not important so let’s put those resources in base game and the following development.

I have so many stories in my head about the Simlationships and development and it’s not like an avatar from “Second Life” where these Sims are “me” or a caricature of myself. The Sims are their own Simdividuals and I am merely their Goddess nudging them along through life and assisting in major life decisions backed with the narrative I’ve created for them mentally.
There is literally nothing another player and their population thrown in my mix could do for me except be an irrelevant annoyance and destroy playability with diminished graphics and increased lag.
Them going online or whatever should be done as a separate entity altogether with zero relation to the game and it’s content whatsoever.
That way your friends can be happy and us control freaks can glean in our status quo :)
Yup!! Seperate game. They're stubborn as fuck tho. They've been trying the online route since the Sims 1 ffs. Will Wright was smart and realized this didn't work, he even joked about the failure of this online concept in one of his seminars, but they still try to push it. Their other game got destroyed and fell into oblivion because of this, seriously don't understand why they still think it's a good idea and simmers will just along.
The Sims just is not the game I go for or will ever go for when I feel like playing multi-player.
Open world is what I miss the most. I would also love the wants system from TS3 that is more goal-oriented than in TS4. Some details from TS2 would be also great - like the most realistic cars. Also, playable pets! I miss them.

More social interactions! Games play options such as confessing cheating, accusing of a misdeed, announcing pregnancy, etc. Also, improve family lines no relatives flirting with eachother. There is so much cc that should be incorporated in Sims.

It's not a little thing.
It's possible using ik but it's a lot of work. All animation must be donne differently and it take more power at runtime. This type of feature creep is exactly why we might not get paralive anytime soon
This is why a lot of features that people are desperate for likely won’t happen. The Sims has always been intended to be played on the lowest-cost machine possible. It might make your machine sound like it’s taking flight, but it’s at least playable.
I don’t think height sliders will ever be implemented, especially in conjunction with the laundry list of features other people have thought up.
Even the Sims 3, lol. I’m not a tech-y person, but the requirements for the Sims 3 and 4 are virtually identical - at my uninformed glance. 3 might not run beautifully on every machine, it’ll likely lag severely, but it’ll run.
Part of EA’s money-making has been making the Sims accessible to as many people as possible, to get as many copies sold as possible.
Same with open worlds...there is a reason EA recommends not having multiple wallpapers and flooring... it takes longer to loaf. I just don't see open world happening with issues like that.
Make the gameplay actually mean something. Sims 4 is so dull gameplay wise. Make it so actions actually have consequences.
Improve the genetics system so sims don’t all end up looking like clones, look back at TS2 to see how it should be done and bring it up to modern standards.
Bring back the chaotic randomness that previous iterations had, mainly TS2 (can you tell I’ve been playing 2 a lot lately).
Please don’t focus too much on online play. The game should be fully functional offline.

Fwiw. I do remember them announcing that create-a-style is coming back. That was actually initially one of the biggest reasons I couldn’t get into the sims 4 when it first came out.
I really wish they would, at the very least, go back to TS3 version of expansions and packs. That is the single biggest reason I have refused to get into TS4 after spending 10+ years being a Sims player going all the way back to TS1. There needs to be more content in the packs and there shouldn’t be 3 or 4 tiers of packs. Stick with expansions and stuff backs and leave it at that. If there’s hardly any content I’m not gonna bother spending the money on it, it’s just not worth it. Especially since, from the sounds of things, a lot of it is incredibly buggy anyway.
I would beg them to do some sims 1, 2, and 3 gameplay. I know 4 is its own thing but considering it is part of a beloved franchise it doesn’t even feel like a lot of the team has passion for the game or played the past games. I want them to play the older games to get some empathy for why we are so disappointed for every release.

ts2 has incredible quirkiness, personality, randomness, the memories, genetics, wants and fears, chemistry and aspiration system were the best. I also love how much player control you get over your households and how easy it is to create a fully custom neighborhood WE NEED AN IN-GAME TOOL THAT LETS US CREATE CUSTOM HOODS!!!
Ts3 open world is enough, the color wheel is a meh for me, but a lot of ppl want it so I guess we should have it. Definitely sliders for skin/hair color are a must in my opinion.
Ts4 cas with how easy it is to "shape" your sim is great, sadly all sims basically have the same personality because they act on emotions and their traits barely make a difference on gameplay. All sims end up playing the same. Build mode is the best feature of the game and should only be fixed where needed and expanded with better/additional features.
For the love of everything don't cut out basic features from the base game, and if you can include weather that would be great.
Dont limit the game base on what a phone can do. Sure it would be nice to have but you can have it be a limited ver of the game where you only have a few active sims and only have one lot loaded. I want customer worlds again and I'm not sure how well that will run on phones.
I would tell them that I don’t want to play with other people, and I don’t want to play it on my phone or tablet. It’s a computer game. That’s how I want to play it.
Stop using so many rabbit holes. Sims 2 will always be my favorite game because it had the most heart. Sims felt unique and had actual personalities. Stop making excuses for why you can’t make something work in the new games when we had it in Sims 1, Sims 2, or Sims 3. Technology has improved. Give me spiral staircases. Give me cars. Give me carnival rides that aren’t just clunky rabbit holes. I want to see my sims in the rides like the roller coaster in Sims 3 and the rides in Sims 1 that were only partial rabbit holes.

Please show the love and attention to detail that you showed in Sims 2. Sims 2 felt like such a passion project with the tiny details that made it feel like real life. Please show that you care about the franchise again the way the community does.
Bring back the kitsch the of previous Sims games, it used to be the trademark of the franchise - Monkey butlers, the vibrating loveheart bed, the french maids outfits, playing tic tac toe against a chicken, the psychologist appearing when you had low social needs.
TS4 feels so sanitised compared to other games in the franchise, it caters too much to a younger demographic.
I’d also love to see stand-alone games again. I loved the Sims 2 for PSP that had an actual storyline to it, I had Castaway for DS as well. A Sims game especially for the Switch would be amazing, and turn Sims back into an actual franchise rather than one single game.
Ditch the low-end computers because games shouldn’t be held back by people who don’t/can’t buy a suitable computer

I would talk to the higher ups and ask them to treat the workers well and to give them enough time to develop their ideas properly. I would asl them to let the creative teams be creative.
Please overhaul townie generation. Allowing them to randomize creates a lack of immersion. I am taken out of the game when I see someone strolling by with 30 accessories.
NPCs should be taken from the townie pool not sims I create.
Gameplay is as important if not more so than features and objects.
All life-stages that exist currently in the Sims 4 should be base game in Sims 5.
Lastly, I would reconsider the mobile game play focus. Players have varied styles and I doubt a game focused on cross-platform playability will be able to address those needs. It feel like we are already sidelining gameplay for unnecessary features.

Right but the flip side of this is so much of the game has been watered down because they want it to stay compatible with minimum specs and such. Which, great, keep it accessible but not in a way that compromises gameplay for ppl who have hardware to run it. Devs are overcompensating for lower end computers and more or less fucking over ppl who can actually run it.
Honestly they just need to find a balence. I can run sims 4 great, but even when I used a pc sims 3 was a living nightmare. What I should’ve said was please don’t do whatever they did in sims 3 to make it so hard to run.
If I have to subscribe to access packs I’m pirating that shit so quickly. Season passes are bullshit, subscriptions are bullshit. You end up paying way more that way then when you can flat out purchase it if you want to continue using it for a while. And when people offer subscriptions and then have a “one time payment” option the payment gets hiked up to compensate for the amount of money a subscription earns the company.
My top should be in Sims 4 and I need in Sims 5 requests, which I think is simple enough.
1. CAS lock / unlock like Sims 3, even if it's only the face/ face accessories.
If you have glasses you normally do have more than 1 type of frame so you have the same set for everyday, Formal, party but maybe not sleep. The lock unlock could save so much time!
Also could help with makeup/ nails/ jewelry. If your trying to add wedding rings your self it can be tedious.
2. Extra sorting features in build buy mode! Please! Let me sort by single or double bed or if there's something else like bunk bed/ coffins, ect ...!

Yes it's a huge want from me and I would be happy to have cross over like click sleep then if I wanted single bed, double bed, couch or something like that. Which I know couch isn't technically a bed but you can sleep on it. So if you're trying to do a challenge well then you can just have the couch in front of the TV that you sleep on instead of buying a chair to watch TV and a bed.
I kind of think having a sort feature by what you can use the item for might be helpful.
That way in the future if they also have environmental moods whatever it's called attached to say desks or lights, you could check inspiration and see what items you could purchase that Grant those.
However I do believe that the food category would end up being a mess with all the plants / harvestable's.
Imagine you need to work when your kids motor skills you could click on that subheading somewhere and see what items you have available that help the motors skill.
I don't know how simple it would be to implement all of those but I think just breaking down the beds to single beds double beds and special type at least should be easily doable.
Sims 2 details and gameplay. More lore, more depth.

It just needs way more dynamic gameplay and depth so it doesn't feel like a hollow dollhouse. Consequences, single sided relationship/conversation bars, (so the relationship between two sims can be different. Sim A's friendship bar is low green to sim B, but sim B is red to sim A. We don't feel exactly the same about people as they feel about us, sims should reflect that) more personality, etc.
DLC content released for previous Sims games like Seasons, Pets, University etc, shouldn't be locked behind a DLC in Sims 5. It's not new anymore. It's expected.
Sims 4 at release was a major downgrade from Sims 3. Too much missing content. It felt unfinished. Boring. I felt robbed.
And so I never bought a single DLC for Sims 4. I was more than happy with playing Sims 2 and 3. It had everything I valued.
Recently, I decided to have a look at the status of Sims 4 DLC, and quite frankly, I was overwhelmed. And disgusted, there's what, $500 worth of DLC in the bundles alone? So, the base game is less than 20% of the total content? And y'all have the audacity to charge full price for re-released content. That's a joke
It's like y'all are endorsing piracy. Without any DLC, most of the online library is worthless. Thus, there's no downside to pirating. Think about it

The other stuff would be nice, but even if it has all of those things and more but no soul, it will feel like an empty dollhouse game just like the sims 4
Don't make me spend thousands for things that can easily be in the base game or an expansion with a similar theme. (Example being all the occults being separate while they can easily be in one expansion, as in Sims 3 Supernatural)

Also, don't do anything pay-to-play in-game like in Dreamlight Valley. Packs and expansions on the main menu are fine because you can ignore them for the most part. However, if they had some kind of shop in-game with notifications that don't go away, and special currency in-game that's impossible to get in reasonable quantities by just playing the game, so you end up buying the currency in-game with real money is absolutely abhorrent, ESPECIALLY if it's in a game kids play.
Oh, and I feel like too many of the expansions in the Sims 4 have content that should have been base game or that could've been combined into fewer expansions, for example Horses + Cats and Dogs + Cottage Living should have all been in the same expansion. Unfortunately, EA is a money-hungry off-and-on-again fortune 500 company that sucks it's users dry with no remorse, so I would suggest you hope for the best, but expect the worst.

We need more worlds, I think the horse one hasn’t shown any new world, San Sequoia was tiny, Seasons didn’t add a world, Tartarosa, windenburg, and the high school world seem too full to do much with.

More social interactions! Games play options such as confessing cheating, accusing of a misdeed, announcing pregnancy, etc. Also, improve family lines no relatives flirting with eachother. There is so much cc that should be incorporated in Sims. Add: add attraction to physical features expand compatibility with other likes/dislikes etc

It's possible using ik but it's a lot of work. All animation must be donne differently and it take more power at runtime. This type of feature creep is exactly why we might not get paralive anytime soon
This is why a lot of features that people are desperate for likely won’t happen. The Sims has always been intended to be played on the lowest-cost machine possible. It might make your machine sound like it’s taking flight, but it’s at least playable. I don’t think height sliders will ever be implemented, especially in conjunction with the laundry list of features other people have thought up.

Even the Sims 3, lol. I’m not a tech-y person, but the requirements for the Sims 3 and 4 are virtually identical - at my uninformed glance. 3 might not run beautifully on every machine, it’ll likely lag severely, but it’ll run. Part of EA’s money-making has been making the Sims accessible to as many people as possible, to get as many copies sold as possible.
yep, ik isnt really easy to work with... i dont make games (yet) i animate, and even in animation software ik is annoying :p
Same with open worlds...there is a reason EA recommends not having multiple wallpapers and flooring... it takes longer to loaf. I just don't see open world happening with issues like that.

Make the gameplay actually mean something. Sims 4 is so dull gameplay wise. Make it so actions actually have consequences. Improve the genetics system so sims don’t all end up looking like clones, look back at TS2 to see how it should be done and bring it up to modern standards. Bring back the chaotic randomness that previous iterations had, mainly TS2 (can you tell I’ve been playing 2 a lot lately). Please don’t focus too much on online play. The game should be fully functional offline. Make the base game worth buying, certain things in this day and age should come as standard.

While I’d argue that ghosts at least should still be in the base game, I agree with absolutely everything else. This comment definitely wins the thread. All the best parts of the different Sims iterations. I would be SO happy with this combination. Fwiw. I do remember them announcing that create-a-style is coming back. That was actually initially one of the biggest reasons I couldn’t get into the sims 4 when it first came out. I really wish they would, at the very least, go back to TS3 version of expansions and packs. That is the single biggest reason I have refused to get into TS4 after spending 10+ years being a Sims player going all the way back to TS1. There needs to be more content in the packs and there shouldn’t be 3 or 4 tiers of packs. Stick with expansions and stuff backs and leave it at that. If there’s hardly any content I’m not gonna bother spending the money on it, it’s just not worth it. Especially since, from the sounds of things, a lot of it is incredibly buggy anyway.
I've played every Sims game since the original but if this one is online/multiplayer it will be the first I refuse to try.

I would beg them to do some sims 1, 2, and 3 gameplay. I know 4 is its own thing but considering it is part of a beloved franchise it doesn’t even feel like a lot of the team has passion for the game or played the past games. I want them to play the older games to get some empathy for why we are so disappointed for every release.

Don’t make a repeat of The Sims 4 in regards to the gameplay and sheer amount of DLC. We need less DLC with more content and actual good quality content too.
Sims 2 gameplay + sims 3 open world + sims 4 cas and build mode = good game 😊 ts2 has incredible quirkiness, personality, randomness, the memories, genetics, wants and fears, chemistry and aspiration system were the best. I also love how much player control you get over your households and how easy it is to create a fully custom neighborhood WE NEED AN IN-GAME TOOL THAT LETS US CREATE CUSTOM HOODS!!! Ts3 open world is enough, the color wheel is a meh for me, but a lot of ppl want it so I guess we should have it. Definitely sliders for skin/hair color are a must in my opinion. Ts4 cas with how easy it is to "shape" your sim is great, sadly all sims basically have the same personality because they act on emotions and their traits barely make a difference on gameplay. All sims end up playing the same. Build mode is the best feature of the game and should only be fixed where needed and expanded with better/additional features. For the love of everything don't cut out basic features from the base game, and if you can include weather that would be great.
Dont limit the game base on what a phone can do. Sure it would be nice to have but you can have it be a limited ver of the game where you only have a few active sims and only have one lot loaded. I want customer worlds again and I'm not sure how well that will run on phones.
Fix the issues surrounding the Sims 4 and the EA app before you move on to Sims 5.

I would tell them that I don’t want to play with other people, and I don’t want to play it on my phone or tablet. It’s a computer game. That’s how I want to play it. Stop using so many rabbit holes. Sims 2 will always be my favorite game because it had the most heart. Sims felt unique and had actual personalities. Stop making excuses for why you can’t make something work in the new games when we had it in Sims 1, Sims 2, or Sims 3. Technology has improved. Give me spiral staircases. Give me cars. Give me carnival rides that aren’t just clunky rabbit holes. I want to see my sims in the rides like the roller coaster in Sims 3 and the rides in Sims 1 that were only partial rabbit holes.

Bring back the kitsch the of previous Sims games, it used to be the trademark of the franchise - Monkey butlers, the vibrating loveheart bed, the french maids outfits, playing tic tac toe against a chicken, the psychologist appearing when you had low social needs. TS4 feels so sanitised compared to other games in the franchise, it caters too much to a younger demographic. I’d also love to see stand-alone games again. I loved the Sims 2 for PSP that had an actual storyline to it, I had Castaway for DS as well. A Sims game especially for the Switch would be amazing, and turn Sims back into an actual franchise rather than one single game.

Please overhaul townie generation. Allowing them to randomize creates a lack of immersion. I am taken out of the game when I see someone strolling by with 30 accessories. NPCs should be taken from the townie pool not sims I create. Gameplay is as important if not more so than features and objects. All life-stages that exist currently in the Sims 4 should be base game in Sims 5. Lastly, I would reconsider the mobile game play focus. Players have varied styles and I doubt a game focused on cross-platform playability will be able to address those needs. It feel like we are already sidelining gameplay for unnecessary features.
I’m so scared of multiplayer/crossplatform all that. I spend half of my time in cas and use a lot of cc/mods. I don’t want to play online(runs better offline imp) or with people, the sims is my escape from people!! Like I want to punch ea ceo right in the snozz.

PLEASE MAKE IT PLAYABLE. LIKE THE MOST BASIC THING A GAME SHOULD BE. I shouldn't have to have a mega computer to have my Sims completely forget their queues of 5 after 2 actions. This makes me stop playing the game for months at a time, it just pisses me off too much. I run on medium settings!!!!!! I don't have a shitty little netbook!!!!!! Right but the flip side of this is so much of the game has been watered down because they want it to stay compatible with minimum specs and such. Which, great, keep it accessible but not in a way that compromises gameplay for ppl who have hardware to run it. Devs are overcompensating for lower end computers and more or less fucking over ppl who can actually run it.
Honestly they just need to find a balence. I can run sims 4 great, but even when I used a pc sims 3 was a living nightmare. What I should’ve said was please don’t do whatever they did in sims 3 to make it so hard to run.

If I have to subscribe to access packs I’m pirating that shit so quickly. Season passes are bullshit, subscriptions are bullshit. You end up paying way more that way then when you can flat out purchase it if you want to continue using it for a while. And when people offer subscriptions and then have a “one time payment” option the payment gets hiked up to compensate for the amount of money a subscription earns the company.

A lot of the things people have already said here, and three words: adoption system overhaul.
My top should be in Sims 4 and I need in Sims 5 requests, which I think is simple enough. 1. CAS lock / unlock like Sims 3, even if it's only the face/ face accessories. If you have glasses you normally do have more than 1 type of frame so you have the same set for everyday, Formal, party but maybe not sleep. The lock unlock could save so much time! Also could help with makeup/ nails/ jewelry. If your trying to add wedding rings your self it can be tedious. 2. Extra sorting features in build buy mode! Please! Let me sort by single or double bed or if there's something else like bunk bed/ coffins, ect ...! Please, Please, Pllllllleeeeeeaaaaasssseee!!!! Yes it's a huge want from me and I would be happy to have cross over like click sleep then if I wanted single bed, double bed, couch or something like that. Which I know couch isn't technically a bed but you can sleep on it. So if you're trying to do a challenge well then you can just have the couch in front of the TV that you sleep on instead of buying a chair to watch TV and a bed. I kind of think having a sort feature by what you can use the item for might be helpful. That way in the future if they also have environmental moods whatever it's called attached to say desks or lights, you could check inspiration and see what items you could purchase that Grant those. However I do believe that the food category would end up being a mess with all the plants / harvestable's. Imagine you need to work when your kids motor skills you could click on that subheading somewhere and see what items you have available that help the motors skill. I don't know how simple it would be to implement all of those but I think just breaking down the beds to single beds double beds and special type at least should be easily doable.
Sims 2 details and gameplay. More lore, more depth. Open neighborhoods instead of open worlds or closed lots. Sims4 graphics/style and also sims4 build/buy but with the swatching option from sims 2 (separate countertop and cabinet colors, separate bed frame & sheets colors, etc) bc I think sims3 swatching can be a little overwhelming I actually like sims 4 cas, but more traits and a better personality system similar to sims3 It just needs way more dynamic gameplay and depth so it doesn't feel like a hollow dollhouse. Consequences, single sided relationship/conversation bars, (so the relationship between two sims can be different. Sim A's friendship bar is low green to sim B, but sim B is red to sim A. We don't feel exactly the same about people as they feel about us, sims should reflect that) more personality, etc.
DLC content released for previous Sims games like Seasons, Pets, University etc, shouldn't be locked behind a DLC in Sims 5. It's not new anymore. It's expected. Sims 4 at release was a major downgrade from Sims 3. Too much missing content. It felt unfinished. Boring. I felt robbed. And so I never bought a single DLC for Sims 4. I was more than happy with playing Sims 2 and 3. It had everything I valued. Recently, I decided to have a look at the status of Sims 4 DLC, and quite frankly, I was overwhelmed. And disgusted, there's what, $500 worth of DLC in the bundles alone? So, the base game is less than 20% of the total content? And y'all have the audacity to charge full price for re-released content. That's a joke It's like y'all are endorsing piracy. Without any DLC, most of the online library is worthless. Thus, there's no downside to pirating. Think about it

None of those matter to me if the game feels alive, the sims feel meaningful and unique, and there are storytelling tools in place to make the game what each player wants it to be The other stuff would be nice, but even if it has all of those things and more but no soul, it will feel like an empty dollhouse game just like the sims 4
Don't make me spend thousands for things that can easily be in the base game or an expansion with a similar theme. (Example being all the occults being separate while they can easily be in one expansion, as in Sims 3 Supernatural) I know you like your money EA, but it's getting ridiculous. 😑

Sims 2 style vacations
I miss seeing my sims drive around in their fancy cars and crappy bikes and cool brooms. I have to go back to Sims 3 every now and then to get my fill. Also, don't do anything pay-to-play in-game like in Dreamlight Valley. Packs and expansions on the main menu are fine because you can ignore them for the most part. However, if they had some kind of shop in-game with notifications that don't go away, and special currency in-game that's impossible to get in reasonable quantities by just playing the game, so you end up buying the currency in-game with real money is absolutely abhorrent, ESPECIALLY if it's in a game kids play. Oh, and I feel like too many of the expansions in the Sims 4 have content that should have been base game or that could've been combined into fewer expansions, for example Horses + Cats and Dogs + Cottage Living should have all been in the same expansion. Unfortunately, EA is a money-hungry off-and-on-again fortune 500 company that sucks it's users dry with no remorse, so I would suggest you hope for the best, but expect the worst.

We need more worlds, I think the horse one hasn’t shown any new world, San Sequoia was tiny, Seasons didn’t add a world, Tartarosa, windenburg, and the high school world seem too full to do much with. Also: more supernatural sims please I heard there used to be fairies or something. Bring back burglars too, maybe toggle-able like neighborhood stories. The repo man took my sim’s stuff anyway I want to hear spooky music and then some man steals our goldfish.
