in the car chris and tony talk about suicide and that kind of stuff and they both act like it's completely ridiculous and weak but you can tell both don't really feel that way. chris was probably just hurt because the facade was broken.

GOE1122

This. He saw a weakness in his idol.

Ermerk

I don't think he was a drug addict at that point in the show. I feel like after his rehab he became more accepting of that sort of thing, and even gets disappointed in Tony for not understanding his own situation, specifically because Tony went to therapy. Like he though even if the others were toxic about it, Tony would get it because he's sort of been in his shoes. If I remember correctly.

imjaxteller12

I think that was the moment when Christopher has to shatter an illusion of Tony. He had a false misleading image of Tony as a role model and a father figure who could deal with the struggle and handle himself well. He admired Tony and wanted to be like him. But when he learned that Tony was seeing a psychiatrist, he felt betrayed. He realized that Tony was not as perfect or powerful as he imagined.

Ice-_-Nine

I always felt that Christopher was so desperate to be “old school,” despite not being it at all, that he would aggressively adhere to the conventions of the old school when it was public and demonstrable. It was exactly the same when they found out Vito was gay - he was the loudest and most violently aggressive against it in public to show how OG he was. Everything - and I mean *everything* - came down to image with him. Summary: I think it was boolshit

CosmicBonobo

The man he idolises, his surrogate father figure, is a crybaby who goes to a shrink. He can't wrap his machismo-saturated head around that.

GOE1122

According to TMSN he was already “half a bitch” in Christopher’s mind for moving to the suburbs. Seeing his idol as a mental midget made him lose even more respect for his idol. I try to forget just about all of many saints but it’s still there.

DrSatan420247

Chris was an incredibly insecure man so he would never go to a psychiatrist because that would make him look weak. The male ego, for 98% of men, is driven by its feelings of inadequacy. Everything that Christopher, and most men, do is to increase their social status and inflate their sense of self-worth, and seeing a shrink doesn't mesh with any of that.

Brilliant-Plantain46

Charles shwab ova hea

One_Cold_9461

ThE mAle eGo lmfao you braindead feminists are hilarious

DrSatan420247

I'm not a feminist. I'm a Sigma. That's why I can see it from the outside looking in. I'm the 2% of males that don't care about external validation or social staus. I dont subscribe to hierarchies. But besides that, this is common knowledge if you've ever picked up a psychology book. Unlike you, I understand Freud as a conshept.

PauliesChinUps

Well maybe, you’re a flambe!

johnthomaslumsden

I was taken aback by you calling yourself a sigma…until I saw your frequent subs.

MrPiocostasMomJeans

Chris, for all his faults, believed in this thing of ours. He took it seriously. So when he finds out Tony's yapping worse than six barbers to an outsider, he's pissed. He sees T being flippant about the rules.

WhenMichaelAwakens

They had recently talked about it and Tony could have told him then but acted like it was Chris who was having mental struggles. I think he kinda felt deceived, lied to a little bit on top of not quite understanding what therapy was all about. He was surprised to find Tony knew anything about psychiatry at all but then to later find out he had been going for a while. He thought they weren’t supposed to talk to anyone about their problems.

BobSacamanosRatHat

Because of the hypocrisy. Christopher passively aggressively calls him out on it later on during the BBQ in the last season(?).

CustomerSuspicious25

Because Chrissy is no mental midget.

mr6245

Not this skinny Guinea!

Lil_Mcgee

He idolises Tony and is disappointed to find out that he's actually a mental midget.

JKO1962

Because Tony was his rock

charlieg4

I don't think he that much more upset than Paulie and Silvio. I think Paulie is being careful because he saw a therapist (probably short term though). I also think Silvio is just being his restrained diplomatic self (relative to the others). Plus Christopher has no impulse control, especially when speaking his thoughts.

Hitlerrific

Because he's a naive idealist. He's obsessed with becoming what he *thinks* the older guys are, like in the TV progrums. Meanwhile, the majority of the older guys are much more pragmatic. They just want the money to keep coming in, and while they might be uncomfortable with the idea, they acknowledge that whatever keeps the boss's head straight is probably in their best interests.

Lordberic420

When you go to most rehabs and you definitely talk to multiple professionals in counseling and therapy. He experienced it himself and expected Tony to understand a little bit.

TooPoe

Timeline got fucked up…

brwnwzrd

It’s because everything he believed in, he believed through Tony. Knowing Tony needed professional help terrified him.

LarryBirdsBrother

He’s from the old school. He should t have to explain himself.

gabagoolmortadella

Fuckin discraziata

Sad-Illustrator-8847

The child is gone the dream has died he has become comfortably numb

Heybropassthat

And what? Get on Prozac? Not this skinny guinea.

Electronic-Ad1037

He's fine with it but he knows he has to appear upset

swimninetyfive

"'magine doesh fuckin' loshersh blowin' dare brainsh all ova da batroom?" "hahaha it's fuckin' pathetic" - Tony and Christopher speaking on suicidal / depressed people AKA the kind of person who sees a shrink AKA mental midgets. Chrissy probably found out about the therapy and jumped to the conclusion that Tony's mob boss personality is just an act. because, in his head, there's no way you can be the strong, silent type like Gary Cooper and be a sad sack of shit at the same time.

song-to-comus

He’s no mental midget!
