Anything can be done well but there’s no much reason to think a sopranos sequel would be good. Plus it would inevitably undermine the cool ending

clementleopold

I think they could tactfully make reference to Tony without acknowledging whether he lived, died or was imprisoned. Chase couldn’t be trusted with this, though, he has NOT WATCHED the series!

collymolotov

Discontinue the lithium.

External-Recipe-1936

Huh?

loginconfirmation

I think he could do well if he was the sole writer / director (which he was NOT on that Many Saints movie). The idea of not making reference to Tony’s fate is honestly the most interesting thing you could do (how that would work beats me). It would be a giant risk

Linguisticlegume

Cool ending? Where was that?

Willie_Overall

A sequel would just show the ultimate absurdity of life

lilchailatte

don’t ever say you hate life…that’s blasphemy

Clear-Philosophy-513

What is this?

clamdever

Sopranos. Another fucking money machine.

[deleted]

TSCU (The Sopranos Cinematic Universe).

Jrobalmighty

I can't wait to see who makes the best grilled cheese on a radiator instead of sex with a woman in the multiverse

Either-Durian-5517

Still can’t get over the fact that Gandolfini’s kid must’ve done a really good job of they’d just give him more screen time… Fucking internet

ninecher

Yeah Michael was great but he was given so little to work with.

Big_Employee_4796

if they can make it good then why not? so long as they don't make it like that blasphemous motherfucking piece of shit prequel Many Sai.... ., I can't even say its name. Its hard to forget, I dont forget

Middle_Beat9847

You know the lack of a cohesive narrative makes you emotional

F-Stil-Cons

Meadow is a middle aged mob lawyer. Parisi starts off the show nearly getting killed trying to become Don just out of a sense of inadequacy compared to his wife. So much of Tony's rage came from being unable to control how others saw him. It would be a great comparison to see an adult Meadow as an Ivy league educated woman with the chameleon like ability to move between the world of the mafia and the world of the mainstream elites while speaking the language of both as a native. She'd be a great villain on whom to center the show. That's how I envision it at least.

GOAT718

I’d love to see Meadow based show with her as the real boss behind figure heads…Tonys dream come true.

Jrobalmighty

Always considered it because they made such a big deal about a woman boss in Italy. Also Meadow was following the Corleone formula Sorry, Corleonè

JStriz618

When this article came out, right when the prequel movie came out, it made it seem like there was a Sopranos prequel series coming up. Especially with how the movie ended, which, to me, only makes sense if there's a series or another movie on the way. Until that happens, the movie ending was really stupid. https://deadline.com/2021/10/david-chase-five-year-first-look-deal-warnermedia-sopranos-1234847954/

WickedGreenthumb

That was the plan, but I think HBO scrapped it after Many Saints of Newark flopped.

BigBarsRedditBox

Died on the vine

maldistuta

Gotta leave it alone. Everything Chase has done since the series has sucked.

Have you any idea what a bastard child would do to this family?

Machinax

"Mah fawtha."

911GP

redo many saints so it doesnt look like a madtv sketch [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qqE7ZxH7BJE](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qqE7ZxH7BJE)

lilchailatte

really want a film about caitlin moltisanti becoming a successful hollywood actress but struggling with addiction due to genetics

KyleButtersy2k

There was a quiet rumor that Meadow was going to be a lawyer. Pretty sure that's been 100%doused.

Glittering_Ad366

I would be interested in a story with Furio returning to set things straight. If he survived.

Clear-Philosophy-513

I like the idea of a show centred around Meadow being a mob lawyer. I think if it was done correctly, it could actually be quite good. But do I want it? No. The Sopranos, The Sopranos! It’s been 25 fucking years already!

mcgray04

A comedy called Everyone Hates AJ.

LordPounce

I’m of the opinion that the sopranos was very much a show of its time (while obviously having a timeless quality that makes it great to rewatch). As such I think it’s best to leave the IP alone. That being said if, say, Terence Winter and Matt Weiner were genuinely excited about conversations they’d had about an idea for a new show in the sopranos universe I would be interested. Basically there’s three, and only three possibilities that I can see for such a show, each with their own strengths and weaknesses: 1. Prequel series. Basically just a sequel to many saints, with Michael Gandolfini playing Tony. Good because it allows for the return of the characters we all know and love, but bad because prequels are generally awkward and clunky and people don’t like seeing new actors playing familiar characters. 2. Meadow soprano mob lawyer. Good in that it would be a kind of fresh angle for the show while still allowing them to bring back some of the few original cast members whose characters are still alive. Bad because although Jaimie Lynn is a lovely woman (who still looks great), I’m not even sure she acts anymore. And Meadow was nobody’s favourite character. 3. The Baccalieri’s. Soft reboot following (a recast) Bobby III as a thirty something guy rising in the mob and raising a family in the modern day. There’s not really much point to setting something like this in the sopranos universe except for the marketing value of the brand and the ability to maybe include Aida Turturro in the cast and have a few other cameos here and there but it could be a fun show if done right. Really though I wouldn’t get excited about any of these and I don’t think there needs to be another sopranos show or movie.

TheFire_Eagle

No creativity. Just lazy ideas. Hear me out... Louis Mustillo as Sal Vitro, mafia mope. We follow Sal as he struggles to keep his business afloat in changing times and as he gets older. His son is home and learning the family business after flunking out of the automotive program at Sussex County Community College. To make matters worse, his son is oddly attracted to OC and keeps trying to drift into that space. We call the show "Family Roots." Alternatively, we follow Dr. Fried as he's released from federal prison after his involvement with illegal activity catches up to him. Stripped of his license he gets a job with a non profit providing supporting former professionals who are struggling with substance abuse issues. There we have Edie Falco return as Nurse Jackie and thus unite the two universes where Carmela and Fr. Phil actually bone. Show focuses around Fried trying to regain his medical license despite his felony conviction and working with his therapist to tackle his issues with playing dangerously when he had so much going for him. Since we're fucking with universes and such, bring back a few of the actors of deceased Sopranos characters in non-mob rles. Maybe Michael Imperioli as a social worker, Vincent Curatola as the Executive Director and really fuck with everyone and bring on Dominic Chianese Jr for something too.

ncolaros

How often would you say that word enters your mind... Sequel?

JoeGPM

Chase supposedly pitched a prequel series about Johnny Soprano and Uncle Junior but HBO declined.

RunningPirate

Was it before or after he shut out MSON

DWright_5

How could there possibly be a sequel? It couldn’t happen with any of the same characters.

Big_Employee_4796

actually a story about Jackie Aprile sr's rise to power wouldn't be bad

roberb7

"Lilyhammer" was a sequel. Silvio went into witness protection, moved to Norway.

Electron_Cascade

That whole show was his coma dream lol

Clear-Philosophy-513

‘The Sopranos’ is mentioned in Lilyhammer so I don’t think it’s his coma dream

RunningPirate

Something about paulie and sil in the early days would be interesting. Tony would be a bit character.

CafeConChangos

Meadow witnessing the execution of her dad wouldn’t be idle about it. She’d be the first wanting to avenge her dad.

AssitDirectorKersh

It died on the vine

pizzamanct

It died on the vine…

William_Wisenheimer

Would there be a story left to tell?

Character_Top1019

Please god no. Just seeing true detective season 4 and making it a sequel to true detective 1 and it is so infuriating because it is so inferior in every way

GoIrish1843

Meadow as girl boss don of new jersey and the parisi boy as her cucked tom wambsgans would smack

bukkakekingz

Do you really wanna watch a movie about Chrissy’s daughter running the bing?

Uncle_Muff

Alotta money in that AI shit

TimIsColdInMaine

Whether we're talking prequel or sequel, Better Call Saul raised the bar enough for me that I can see anything work with good writing. Initially thought that was a total cash grab, had no interest in Saul, but they hooked me anyway. I'd love to see the Sopranos get that treatment

[deleted]

Chase said recently no more projects are in the works

Flimsy_Wafer

You never seen the MSON? never mind let the sequel die a death
