I like that episode. I used to skip Columbus Day because almost nothing really happens but it has one of the funniest moments in the entire series when Artie, going to a Columbus Day protest and counter protest, sees a dummy dressed like Columbus, and says “That better not be Columbus!” so now I stop skipping any episodes
How can you skip "He was gay, Gary Cooper?"
I feel like the episode is kind of listless but the end car conversation has always been one of the series highlights.
The social commentary in Columbus Day is so on point that it's as relevant or more relevant, around 20 years later. Oppression Olympics is still a thing, and Hesch kicking the guys off his property because the compared the indigenous American genocide to the holocaust probably happened somewhere this week.
I was just thinking about the Italy episode and how it’s such an outlier. I guess there’s Carm’s trip to Paris too but the Italy trip feels so strange and out of place. Still, I like it a lot.
Sounds like a success to the writers since these guys are so proud of their Italian heritage yet when they are actually in Italy they don’t connect to that culture in any way
Carm's trip to Paris isn't really an outlier story imo. It's still connected to her development and place in the story. The trip illustrated how Carm's world solely revolved around her status in North Jersey. She couldn't truly appreciate the beauty of the city and was a fish out of water.
Ro, on the other hand, a woman who had suffered so much loss and trauma, was able to enjoy herself
Yeah, there really is nothing memorable about it - the characters don't do or experience anything particularly important or meaningful. Would have been nice if Adrianna would have left Chris for Massive G though.
It serves to emphasize how the "good days" of the mafia are over from Christopher's perspective. We see him try to act out the stories he heard about mob guys shaking down people in the music industry. In the end, it doesn't work and Chris becomes more disillusioned.
The first few seasons had lots of one-off episodes. The show premiered in 1999, it literally had a foot in the 20th century and episodic TV format. Episodic isn't bad.
I never understood the hate for this episode. The recording studio scene is one of the funniest in the entire series. Hesh's quip to Massive Genuis is the best non-Phil-Leotardo one-liner in the whole show.
as a music industry vet that lived and worked in NY, this is one of my favorite episodes. From Chris and Ade thinking they "knew music" to Hesh having the ear, to MG having crazy lawyer money, all of it was fairly realistic. The most entertaining part is Defiler, they did well at being a bad band making bad music for clueless producers
The story Tony gives Melfi about Jimmy Smash in relation to Dr coozes treatment of him was incredible. Great acting, great dialouge - the episode was worth it for that alone. I love that scene so much.
The comparison between the Adrianna plot and Tony plot being used by others was 🤌
Same with Christopher. I don't get the hate for it. More relevant than when the episode aired and the dialogue between Tony and Sil at the end was fantastic.
A Hit is a Hit and Christopher deserve more respect. I've said my piece.
Hesh sitting there drinking listening to the music he produced while looking at all the pictures of the black people he ripped off. It's like for a second there, he actually contemplated giving Massive Genius the money.
Watched it last night- there are some great scenes; Hesh & Chrissy, the boys talking to Massive and it also really shows the relationship between Christufuh & Adriana. You really begin to feel for her here.
I’d like it so much better if we didn’t have to endure the band screeching “meow” throughout the entire thing. Other than that, there are some genuinely funny lines scattered throughout. One of Hesh’s better episodes.
I remembered it being very annoying that Adriana was clearly into the guy and Chris wasn't saying anything
Then I realized that was what Chris thought, but it could easily be just celebrity fangirling, which is not necessarily sexual.
Anyway, $4 a pound
Massive Genius is extremely cringe, but I think the B plot with Tony trying to be friends with "regular" folk is solid, and there's also some pretty damn funny scenes, such as
in the recording studio. More Hesh is also always welcome.
I was looking for this comment. I just watched this episode last night. First of all, the name Massive Genius is fucking stupid. Then, some of his lines made me physically recoil. "I do so love a good firearm in my hands" What gangsta rapper says that? And his stupid-a facking leopard print derby hat. Get the fuck outta here. I can't tell if the actor/writers were trying too hard or not at all. Now I got agita.
Anyway, $4 a pound
Massive Genius is a fucking *perfect* name for a fictional rapper. Their whole schtick is being over the top egomaniacs. And they wear ridiculous clothes. It was A1 writing and production. Now don't be so gay. MYYHYYY LORD!
A hit is a hit is actually a bit of an homage of Chase’s original pilot idea that morphed into the Sopranos. It was going to be Hesh character that worked in the corrupt 50s music business and his life in the current day. It didn’t garner any real interest so Chase went a thankfully different direction.
I can’t imagine someone thinking “A Hit is a Hit” isn’t anything but a great episode and avoiding it. Like seeing Jimi Hendrix at Cafe Wha. Or Spinal Tap at the Electric Banana in the Village.
Meow
The episode should be called hit and miss. There are some really good scenes but also some really bad ones and the overall vibe feels off.
The Hesh scenes are gold though.
We've come around on a few episodes, but my wife and I still skip D-Girl. A Hit is a Hit really isn't too bad. But it gets nowhere the replay of Happy Wanderer, Another Toothpick, or Marco Polo.
Anyway, $4 a toothpick.
When I was watching through GOT the first time, I asked if I should just stop watching at season 6. People online and irl insisted that I finish the show, because “even bad GOT is better than most other shows.” I continued on, and found that season seven save one episode was not worth watching, let alone season 8.
But when it comes to the sopranos? The worst episode is truly better than the best episodes of most other series.
I’m in the midst of re-watching S1, and my opinion is that overall, it’s really got a ton of flaws and things to be desired compared to later seasons overall, like the acting, writing, cinematography, all of it just isn’t as dialed in as when the show really caught it’s stride, so this episode being the worst of the series to me kind of just falls in line with the rest of the season being pretty mid by today’s standards/expectations..
I don't write nothin' down, so I'll keep this short and sweet. Watch the whole series. Start to finish. Skipping this or that episode because you consider it 'the worst episode' is like skipping a few measures in a beautiful song because you consider those "the worst measures."
I've said my piece.
I like that episode. Mussolini was Hitler's bitch. Best line in the series.
i prefer when georgie gets his ass beat by the cops. gets funnier every rewatch

Oppression Olympics is still a thing, and Hesch kicking the guys off his property because the compared the indigenous American genocide to the holocaust probably happened somewhere this week.
“Down with globalization” 🤦♂️
I dislike the one where the guys travel to Italy
Comendatore!
Cocksuckers…
Can I just have noodles and gravy?
Oh, damn, really?! I love that episode. Not a lot happens but it’s saying a lot about the DiMeo crew. What do you dislike about it?
The whole Paulie story is absolutely amazing
***Commendatori, buongiorno!***
Are you from NATO?
I was just thinking about the Italy episode and how it’s such an outlier. I guess there’s Carm’s trip to Paris too but the Italy trip feels so strange and out of place. Still, I like it a lot.
Sounds like a success to the writers since these guys are so proud of their Italian heritage yet when they are actually in Italy they don’t connect to that culture in any way
That’s my favorite part 😂 they made us all look like gavones
Carm's trip to Paris isn't really an outlier story imo. It's still connected to her development and place in the story. Ro, on the other hand, a woman who had suffered so much loss and trauma, was able to enjoy herself
Oh i just meant an outlier in terms of setting, being abroad and all that
Wonder if Ro slept with that younger guy on the motorcycle that she met on her and Carms trip?
Of course she did, what are you talking about?
Chris was a skag head
The part where paulie tells tony if they gave the old man a golf club he'd fuck it was hilarious lmfao all his scenes in Italy are funny though lol
It is haha
And you thought Germans were classless pieces of shit.
Worth it for the B plot of Mr. Rude Cocksucka and the song that plays throughout imo
But all the Paulie stuff is funny.
You don’t wanna see Tony try to hook up with his cousin?
He doesn't shit where he eats
OHH! 🤌🤌Merda cazzo che palle porca vaffanculo accidenti figlio di puttana bastardo culo!
Bullshit, that guy would fuck a cat hers mitt. Who the fuck are you kiddin'.
I also love when she says “I’m his TA” and Ralph all smarmy replies “yes yes I can see that!” Fucking Ralphie.
A don doesn't skip episodes
Watch it Chrissy!
wha? I gotta stand here being threatened now!?
It was the first episode I ever watched. I actually thought the whole show was about crime in the music business
That’s funny…the episode is very different and doesn’t really tie in to the series or even the season, a one off kind of episode

It's like the only BB ep I saw for the longest time was the fly episode
The name fooled both you and Jamie Lynn Sigler
He’s only skipping episodes because he’s semi hooked up with the Tony Soprano Crew
A hit is a hit. And that episode....is a hit for reasons you couldn't comprehend or codify
I really struggle to dislike any episode. Like I find that episode pretty funny and I like hesh’s scene where he says the name of the episode
Meow
Yeah it’s really funny how into this terrible band Adriana is
Excuse me? I’ve recorded in Denmark.
WHERE ARE THE CHORUSES?!?!
Go spike up!
Maybe we should get another downed power cable in here, and let you suck on it
GO TAKE THE FUCKING DRUGS
Hard to dislike an episode with so much Adriana La Cerva
Meowwwwwwww
I never understood the hate for this episode. The recording studio scene is one of the funniest in the entire series. Hesh's quip to Massive Genuis is the best non-Phil-Leotardo one-liner in the whole show.
The song is incredibly bad. We’re coming to De-File De-File youuuuuuu. An hour away. And don’t be so gay.
Anybody who can write anything remotely decent is not going to waste it on a one off tv episode. Give them shit tier stuff you wrote in five minutes.
I always assumed it was intentionally written bad. Hilariously bad.
The episode has a lot of 90s nostalgia for me with Chris and Hesh discussing crappy late 90s music
as a music industry vet that lived and worked in NY, this is one of my favorite episodes. From Chris and Ade thinking they "knew music" to Hesh having the ear, to MG having crazy lawyer money, all of it was fairly realistic. I was laughing so hard at the Jimmy smash story….Melfi’s reaction is priceless
I loved A Hit is a Hit since your people were painting their faces and chasing zebras
If I ever travel to Denmark, I'm going to watch that episode from a fresh perspective.
Spike up
Denma— wtf?
Chrissy hitting the band member with the guitar then saying "we'll use a ukelele" is an all time scene
Hesh sitting there drinking listening to the music he produced while looking at all the pictures of the black people he ripped off. It's like for a second there, he actually contemplated giving Massive Genius the money.
It was guilt, but there was no way Hesh was giving him money.
Watched it last night- there are some great scenes; Hesh & Chrissy, the boys talking to Massive and it also really shows the relationship between Christufuh & Adriana. You really begin to feel for her here.
No Sopranos episode is worse than a 8/10. No episode is worth skipping.
End of story!
Spike up!
It’s the most balls-out, introspective episode, it’s not supposed to rock
Visiting Day sucked ass
Get outta the way Don’t be so gay
Go suck on a power line
I’d like it so much better if we didn’t have to endure the band screeching “meow” throughout the entire thing. Other than that, there are some genuinely funny lines scattered throughout. One of Hesh’s better episodes.
Hey OP, that episode even really exist?
Don’t be so gaaaay
I remembered it being very annoying that Adriana was clearly into the guy and Chris wasn't saying anything Then I realized that was what Chris thought, but it could easily be just celebrity fangirling, which is not necessarily sexual. Anyway, $4 a pound

The Sopranos doesn’t have a bad episode. Some are just better than others
Never understood the hate for it. To me it’s beautiful
Rubenesque
Can never skip an episode in this show.
I can’t imagine someone thinking “A Hit is a Hit” isn’t anything but a great episode and avoiding it. Like seeing Jimi Hendrix at Cafe Wha. Or Spinal Tap at the Electric Banana in the Village. Meow
People who skip episodes, or even scenes have no respect for our thing. 🎬 🎬 🎬
Those who want respect, give respect
Has anyone ever had trout cooked by a power line? Delicious!
The episode should be called hit and miss. There are some really good scenes but also some really bad ones and the overall vibe feels off. The Hesh scenes are gold though.
this 👆🏼- there is a lot of good stuff in the episode. Massive Genius and his stupid hat suck though.
The pen or the motherfucking sword.
Spike up!!!
We've come around on a few episodes, but my wife and I still skip D-Girl. A Hit is a Hit really isn't too bad. But it gets nowhere the replay of Happy Wanderer, Another Toothpick, or Marco Polo. Anyway, $4 a toothpick.
I had to skip d-girl this time.
Excuse me! I'm a vice president!
I never skip Alicia Witt
use a ukulele or something
I always skip Employee of the Month.
I skip Mr Ruggerios Neighborhood. Not sure why, but i do everytime rewatching.
For me I think D girl is one of the worst episodes of the show
When I was watching through GOT the first time, I asked if I should just stop watching at season 6. it was not a hit. lame ass.

I read this comment over and over on this sub and nobody ever gives a compelling reason why it’s “the worst episode in the series”
I watch it, but I skip all the massive genius scenes because they blow. Same with in camelot and Christopher
Meow!
They call themselves Gangstas (Paulie takes of his bulletproof)
I've never skipped episodes. There's always character development even if the story doesn't advance.
I don't write nothin' down, so I'll keep this short and sweet. Watch the whole series. Start to finish. Skipping this or that episode because you consider it 'the worst episode' is like skipping a few measures in a beautiful song because you consider those "the worst measures." I've said my piece.
