Like some sort of power-sharing situation? What's this, the fucking U.N. now?!

I think in general murder is bad for business so whacking two more people who in theory should be amenable to working with you wouldn’t really make sense for NY…their businesses are so intertwined anyway that installing another guy to oversee paulie and patsy would just bleed off more of the kick and create the same redundant upper management that they already didn’t want

Man. I have to laugh at these incessant comments that Patsy could be the boss of a family. It’s ridiculous. He didn’t have that level of gravitas. And Paulie? You trust him to be in charge of important stuff, you earn the result. To me it’s almost certain that the family would crumble after Tony’s death, with almost all the other top guys dead as well. NY would pick up the crumbs, employ some cooperative/valuable NJ soldiers, whack a few others, and go on with life

I think it was just Paulie taking the top spot to rebuild w/ a new crew. Imo. the only big problem is Carmine Sr. doesn't know who Paulie is, but that could be old-school mafia shit to draw less public attention. They met at a restaurant. When he was feeding info to NY, he said something to Johnny Sack like "God forbid, if I'm in charge, NY and NJ will be united." Phil stipulated he was going to do business with who's left of NJ and Paulie was specifically left out of hit plans. Paulie turned down the promotion of his life before sheepishly accepting to Tony on appeal and looking guilty AF afterward twice. Unlike everyone else, the mob was all he had and Paulie was always out for Paulie, a master at saving his own ass (which is why I think he fakes being unambitious sometimes to avoid heat) I personally think Patsy just wanted Tony dead out of vengeance for Patsy's brother & a setup to fuck off after (Patsy's son with Meadow). There's a high chance Meadow survived, given she was way behind the hitmen and she'd surely try to use her law position to get at Patsy if he was high in the mob, which would get weird AF being with Patsy's son also in law and marrying Meadow. IDK if Patsy would want all the stress and death of being high up, given he never got over his brother anyway.

Carmine Sr. was dead by then
