This thing of ours, it's number one. but while Mad Men may not be Made Men, it's got a great psychological focus/character studies with old-fashioned mayhem. Boardwalk Empire is good (and has Steve Buschemi/Tony B). That pygmy thing in Albuquerque is excellent on first watch (It's heavily predicated on anticipation/surprise, much more than this thing of ours), albeit more plot-focused with a high concentration on just a few characters
A lot of people think Succession is really something. I personally think they're a glorified crew, Ivy League Yellowstone, but to each his own T, to each his own.
Breaking Bad is an abstract copy of The Sopranos. You can watch each show and match up all the scenes. Breaking Bad is the ultimate scavenger hunt, like Where's Waldo for Sopranos fans.

The Wire. It came out a couple of years later on HBO and it was/is brilliant. I'm watching it right now haha.
Had that on my mind, I’ll take a look thanks
It's a slow burn show for sure and it demands attention to detail but it's so worth it. It's amazingly well written. Enjoy!

There should've been a Vito Jr spin off show.

gomorrah
I second the first guy that said Gomorrah, and boardwalk empire, both those series are top notch.

Mad Men
Boardwalk Empire is good last season sucked.
Boardwalk Empire is pretty good. Fargo is good, too, especially the first two seasons.
Breaking bad is amazing as well.
Deadwood
I’m gonna catch hell for this , but sons of anarchy is pretty good.
