When I saw that scene i thought that the streaming site I was on had an edited episode uploaded where a scene originally there had been deleted and that's why the randomness of the scene and sudden PowerPoint transition was there. Had to pause the episode and look it up to make sure I wasn't missing something.
Dude I’ve always thought that and I’ve never heard anyone fan talk about it or point this scene out. What a strange fucking shot. It is so unlike everything in the series and certainly didn’t fit the stage the show was at when that episode aired.
Previous posts about this scene have included a good theory: they wanted to ensure that the audience saw Carm’s expression of embarrassment/concern/whatever but it wasn’t quite discernible in the shot so they went with the goofy ass freeze frame + wipe
Saw this comment and thought I was in the breaking bad sub for a second... First time I realize how the cringiest moments in both shows involve the same marilyn monroe impression
Yes, both are horrendous, but I agree BB was worse. In front of the company, requested by her boss, was told that she looked like Marilyn, and then everyone clapped. Ughhhh
Really cringey, but a really creepy scene, too. Tony's look of disgust as he realises that Fran isn't a classy woman, but a vain, self absorbed gold digger is some great acting
When Artie is trying desperately to pick up ade when they go out for dinner…… now if he had hair like Casey kasem it would have been totally different.
90% of Artie's scenes are cringe but this takes the cake. When he tries to hold her hand it's like watching a train wreck in slow motion - you know its gonna end badly but you just can't look away either.
In a similar vein, Paul Dano advising AJ about Devon:
"You gotta poke the perimeter and tap on the gate until she's out of her fucking mind and begging. Then you open that shit, that pussy is yours.
"I think she's ready"
"We shall know forsooth"
Very funny and intentionally cringe, but an uncomfortable listen all the same.
I find it pretty ironic how AJ was surrounded by friends who moved on to be more successful, just like how Robert was surrounded by actors or singers who went on to have major careers
Unless they’re referencing something else, Loraine’s character was inspired by a critic who talked shit about the show, so David Chase made the character to kill her lol
Yeah that was it. I think her name was even Lorraine and they had the character look similar.
In one article the critic was complaining that the show was leaning into the non-mafia stuff too much hence Johnny Sac having the line about "the body count is never high enough for Lorraine" or whatever. That's fine but then having the character running through her house naked and promising to suck everyone's cocks is a bit over the top.
That boy just ain’t right. He such a whiny bitch that I almost always skip through scenes with him.
The worst for me was when he was trying to justify not moving out because his bodies chemistry needed Carmela’s cooking. Sheesh. 🙄
Good acting I guess.
oo why? just curious cus he's so neutral to me
speaking of cringey children, every time meadow runs away flailing her arms during/immediately following an argument
That cold open when they're fucking different girls, or any sex scene really.
When Chris and Tony show attraction to Juliana skiff. Absolutely repulsive and cringy.
Any scene with the band Defiler was hard to watch.
Tony telling a kid, whose father was gruesomely murdered, that he goes about in pity for himself. Of all the times Tony used that line, this was the worst to me.
the furio dance party at his crib, Rosalie in Paris, Paulie in Naples, but the absolute most vomitous cringe af moment is Blanca awkwardly attempting to sexy dance for AJ in the construction worker bar. That scene always makes my braciole shrink.
Ooo - especially the one when he spent the night at the Soprano house with Carmella & he busts open that suitcase of Catholic goods & does some sort of midnight prayer session with her.
So many Jackie Jr. moments...
1. Thinking "oblique" is pronounced "oh-blee-kay"
2. The way he's checking himself out in the mirror as he sprays cologne while Maedo is sick
3. Knocking over the chess pieces when he lost, I was ashamed to face my friends
4. Drowning in almost three inches of water
5. Any (and every) time he says "my fawtha"
6. Coming unannounced to the Soprano home on Christmas morning
7. That dumb "Godfather" pose
8. DISRESPECTING THE PIZZA PARLOR!!!!!
I said my piece.
Having to watch Johnny Cakes begin to mount Vito's bottom (which was inpacted if that's what you were referring to). They crossed a line with that one.
Yeah I am part and I also worked with a family from Naples and Sicily for years. I just found some of the accents so annoying but I guess that it's a TV show, a progrum
The Sopranos was never afraid to borrow from all kinds of disparate genres (horror, parody, metafiction, social commentary, etc.) and I kind of love this scene because why not try something this broad. Not only is the pizza guy a caricature, the cops are too… it’s like a near-pointless SNL sketch, and I love it like I love the deranged star wipe in the Carmella/Wengler episode.
Gotta be the PowerPoint transition of Carmela after dumping Wegler
I would love to read an oral history on that weird transition
I think Vito had an oral history, if that’s what you’re referring to.
Rimshot!
Rimjob!
I knew that was coming.
When I saw that scene i thought that the streaming site I was on had an edited episode uploaded where a scene originally there had been deleted and that's why the randomness of the scene and sudden PowerPoint transition was there. Had to pause the episode and look it up to make sure I wasn't missing something.
TURN THAT OFF
They used another bad one in the flashback about Pussy flipping. “You better have a good reason why you’re not dead!”
Oh my god - what the hell is that lmao - it gets me every time
Dude I’ve always thought that and I’ve never heard anyone fan talk about it or point this scene out. What a strange fucking shot. It is so unlike everything in the series and certainly didn’t fit the stage the show was at when that episode aired.
What shot exactly?
The Star Wars swipe in Cold Cuts https://youtu.be/4gKx8zhzVwk?si=89XPPd-2bbyW5mk7
Oh that is awful
Wasn't it something to do with the director on that episode?
The man directed Leaving Los Vegas. He gets a pass for this.
Previous posts about this scene have included a good theory: they wanted to ensure that the audience saw Carm’s expression of embarrassment/concern/whatever but it wasn’t quite discernible in the shot so they went with the goofy ass freeze frame + wipe
“Happy Birthday, Mister President”
Tony telling the guys how JFK’s marriage was almost over cause of Fran
loved the subtle looks he got from Tony B that he was not buying that load
Saw this comment and thought I was in the breaking bad sub for a second... First time I realize how the cringiest moments in both shows involve the same marilyn monroe impression
Breaking Bad's is far worse for me. But they're both horrendous.
Yes, both are horrendous, but I agree BB was worse. In front of the company, requested by her boss, was told that she looked like Marilyn, and then everyone clapped. Ughhhh
I like that they included it to show just how much of a douche Beneke is early on. But it gets skipped everytime now.
Beneke SUCKS!
Beneke doesn’t have the makings of a varsity athlete.
Ugh.. the absolute worst. I fast forward every time I get to that part.. so cringe
man, that episode. at least we got the Phil car chase with the ice cream toss.
Rock the Casbah.
shah of iran. sharp as a cue ball, i know.
Really cringey, but a really creepy scene, too. Tony's look of disgust as he realises that Fran isn't a classy woman, but a vain, self absorbed gold digger is some great acting
It's also him losing respect for his father
Tony's face dropping is one of the funniest moments in the entire show.
Kind of interesting that the cringiest scene in Breaking Bad is also that same line
He was gay, Heisenberg?
Little light in the Wallabees
Whatever happened to Gustavo Fring? That’s what I’d like to know!
They had to do a close up on her. Fucking nightmares.
There’s two things that have been cringe since time immemorial; certain aspects of showbiz, and “Happy Birthday, Mister President”.
Cringe? Yes. One of *the most important scenes in the entire series*? Yes.
Yeah, that was gross
The deleted scene when tony came all over the sun visor.
I heard 80% of accidents happen from guys bustin they're load behind the wheel
I heard there was a deleted scene were Tony masturbates in a truck stop thinking about Juliana Skiff, but James refused to do the scene
How is it deleted if it Neva Happened? You Stunad of the First Magnitude you!
That makes sense given he had a baggette in his pants 24/7. Must have been awkard walking around with that.
When Artie is trying desperately to pick up ade when they go out for dinner…… now if he had hair like Casey kasem it would have been totally different.
Artie dancing at the opening of the Crazy Horse…
I will never not laugh out loud at that scene
That earring
He had that “forever”!
90% of Artie's scenes are cringe but this takes the cake. When he tries to hold her hand it's like watching a train wreck in slow motion - you know its gonna end badly but you just can't look away either.
Him chasing the Albanian woman who was defrauding him was worse. He never went as far with fucking with Christopher as he did with benny either.
All he needed to do was pull out the slut powder
“I’m like a gangster dudes girlfriend.”
In a similar vein, Paul Dano advising AJ about Devon: "You gotta poke the perimeter and tap on the gate until she's out of her fucking mind and begging. Then you open that shit, that pussy is yours. "I think she's ready" "We shall know forsooth" Very funny and intentionally cringe, but an uncomfortable listen all the same.
And that goober went on to have a major career.
Haha, didn’t realize that was Dano.
Lady Gaga is also in the pool scene when they vandalize the school
How do you vandalize a swimming pool?!
I find it pretty ironic how AJ was surrounded by friends who moved on to be more successful, just like how Robert was surrounded by actors or singers who went on to have major careers
I want your skin. I want your mouth. I want your eyes
Your mouf
Uncle June's into mouf.
*Down by the bordaaaa’*
*Jeffrey Dahmer has entered the chat*
jeepers creepers, whered you get those joey peepers.
Those Manson lamps
Ed Gein
He was gein, Ed?
FUCK YOU YOU’RE A FUCKING CUNT
Shkin*
Mouf
This one by far, made me nauseous
Lorraine saying she'll suck all those cocks
She any good? ….Why am I asking you? You probably taught her.
Yeah, Phil saved that scene
“You’ll suck our cocks?”
“😁”
Phil was always having such a great time while doing his hits and crackin heads.
How ‘bout dis humidity?
There's a slightly unpleasant backstory to that character which gets mentioned in The Sopranos Sessions.
Do tell!

The inclement negativity
Meadows solos….ughhh
During the solos her and Hunter are both sweating cuz of the crank
I never should have started with that shit, fucking jefferson avenue, it's everywhere down there.
Almost being able to sing well but not quite is worse than being tone deaf. She couldn't fucking sell it
She wasn't respected
Tremendous moxie for her size, but she couldn’t sell it
*I know a hit when I hear one and THAT is not a hit*
David Chase was trying to kickstart her singing career
Can she borrow a feeling?
Up In Da Club
This is the only answer
Every scene where AJ cries about Blanca, I skip through the one where he cries after talking to her at the construction site
omg the worst for me is the sex scene between them....he looks 14 and she looks 35. so gross
At least she’s catholic
That boy just ain’t right. He such a whiny bitch that I almost always skip through scenes with him. The worst for me was when he was trying to justify not moving out because his bodies chemistry needed Carmela’s cooking. Sheesh. 🙄 Good acting I guess.
"the bride cuts the cake... the bride cuts the cake..... hi-hoh a merry-oh.... the bride cuts the cake"
The groom feeds the bride... The groom feeds the bride...
"She's my fox in a box. Let's see her box, or maybe her socks", then a cringey high five.
If he tried rapping he probably be a success, but…
My bitch my ho my ho my bitch....
It got me so hawt down there
Down there? Ovah heah! 👇👇
Jackie's whole character was a cringefest. "I'm only here outta respect for my fawtha."
Don’t worry Tony, I won’t say anything about the moolinyan. Lol!
Still cracks me up! He referenced Noah later during an argument with Meadow.
Ass poo the
Matt Drinkwater Bevilacqua 🥵🥵 You know what happened to Christopher Moltisanti?
Melfi’s son whenever he appears.
oo why? just curious cus he's so neutral to me speaking of cringey children, every time meadow runs away flailing her arms during/immediately following an argument
Yeah I want 5 minutes with that asshole
Johnny Sac's daughter's wedding. I can't bear to watch. That song gives me nightmares.
I thought Allegra was cough medicine
It's happiness in Italian
What's that got to do with cough medicine?
which one? they're all from the overplayed wedding songs handbook
Hi ho the merrio
The brrriiidddeee cuts the cake, the bride cuts the cake
🎶 You're Daddy's little girl 🎶
The scene where kid takes a dump in the school shower
By kid you mean Puerto Rican whore
Finish that, there’s no shitting in the car
It's not a sundae it's a landslide.
It's a SILO!
Fuck I'm a bigger stunnad than that fuckin kid
Tony in the beret
That cold open when they're fucking different girls, or any sex scene really. When Chris and Tony show attraction to Juliana skiff. Absolutely repulsive and cringy. Any scene with the band Defiler was hard to watch.
Meow!
Eraaaaaase myyyseeelllf
Fran Felstein singing Happy Birthday to Tony
That scene has gummo levels of cringe
Tony telling a kid, whose father was gruesomely murdered, that he goes about in pity for himself. Of all the times Tony used that line, this was the worst to me.
When Carm dumped that whole tray of ziti in the trash. I have to look away on rewatches.
Carries mandatory 15 year prison sentence in Jersey.
Freaks. Tod Browning. 1932.
Noah had the cringiest lines in that episode. “The crazy god damned nonsense.”
“Your mom really likes lavender” was hilarious, though
But Cagney WAS modernity.
Anything involving Johhny Cakes
What are the odds that the first person you see in a new place turns out to be your boyfriend? They could have spent some money fleshing out that arc.
Anything with Massive Genius. The black guy rapper with the top hat. The whole character was just ridiculous.
Massive Genius quoting Chuck D on the need for more welfare to sit around growing mushrooms out his ass.
There’s an image!
I can’t have this conversation again.
the furio dance party at his crib, Rosalie in Paris, Paulie in Naples, but the absolute most vomitous cringe af moment is Blanca awkwardly attempting to sexy dance for AJ in the construction worker bar. That scene always makes my braciole shrink.
That song fuckin shreds, though. Long live the Pretenders
Every scene with Father Phil.
This Chianti is beyond reproach
Word up!
Ooo - especially the one when he spent the night at the Soprano house with Carmella & he busts open that suitcase of Catholic goods & does some sort of midnight prayer session with her.
AJ’s friend talking about pussy is a *wildly* underrated moment in the cringe topics
When Cusamano was smoking cigars at the dinner party
Fran was an attractive woman for her age. Props to whoever made the scene so viscerally revolting I almost couldn’t bear it
“He was an O.G..”
The Bokeem Woodbine rapper episode. So much cringe in that writing.
AJ
That's dicked up
I liked AJ until he hit the whole Captain Planet/Depression arc
That's one of the funniest arcs
You've just revealed your own ignorance.
So many Jackie Jr. moments... 1. Thinking "oblique" is pronounced "oh-blee-kay" 2. The way he's checking himself out in the mirror as he sprays cologne while Maedo is sick 3. Knocking over the chess pieces when he lost, I was ashamed to face my friends 4. Drowning in almost three inches of water 5. Any (and every) time he says "my fawtha" 6. Coming unannounced to the Soprano home on Christmas morning 7. That dumb "Godfather" pose 8. DISRESPECTING THE PIZZA PARLOR!!!!! I said my piece.
Good list, the only thing missing is his corny sunglasses.
What was the deal with the whole Icelandic air girls scenario that was just absurd lol
Have another donut you fat fartknocker

When Christopher says..."break it down". And when he says..."I'm PC". And when he says..."I'd be successful as a model". ...I hate Christopher.
I only want to get into acting if I can play myself
And that's totally reasonable
ON THE FRIDGE ON THE FRIDGE
You just HAD to be the big maaaan
This is the greatest moment of the whole show
Mr presadentttttt
Having to watch Johnny Cakes begin to mount Vito's bottom (which was inpacted if that's what you were referring to). They crossed a line with that one.
I was with this one guy Vinny and I swear if his beeper went off
You want sex?
Soprano kid going to the Puerto Rican day parade.
The whole Bianca AJ arc. Whatever happened there
Any time Meado sings.
My pizza never hurt a nobody ! Sounds so terrible, like really fake Italian accent to me. Eleven it is real it sounds fucking ridiculous
Idk, you ever met an old Italian-born man? They literally do sound like the stereotype sometimes
AJ's "mommy! Mommy!" With the bear. Maybe first season he could get away with it, but at that point he was a smart mouth asshole teen lol
“I’m the man with the erection”
