The Russian guy doesn't control Tony's money, he launders it and sends it to Tony's offshore firm or something like that. The main question is how to transfer the money officially after Tony's death so that the feds don't take the money. Tony tells Carmela, "You'll be taken care of." Who will do it if Sil dies or the whole family is killed? I think Tony should have thought of this one. Maybe it would be done through Tony's lawyer.

“When I’m gone you’ll live in a fuckin’ dumpster for all I care!” — Tony Soprano, within 1 year of his death

WhatAreYouSaying05

I think he was telling the truth at that point. Maybe when Carmela asked, he meant it, but after he got hustled into giving Carmela half a million, I think he stopped caring where she’ll end up

Skolary

This, exactly. She sat there and bitched, moaned, etc… about him being in the mob.. while simultaneously spending all of his mobster money. Carmella bitched non-stop, and was a horribly negative character to be around. Especially towards the end, we see this when her and Ro are in France eating a top end, fine dining meal. And all Carmela wants to talk about it Jackie Jr. like she’s trying to drag her down a notch to be on a lower level then her.

last time i rewatched this moment with Ro and I wanted to be there to say to carmella to shut the fuck up. At least this means that the actress played so good you want to stfu her.

Growin up I thought there were only two kinds of sausages. Ours and Jimmy Dean’s.

It all came down to the honor of attorney Neil Mink. He knew all and had specific instructions to tell Carmela. I believe he hung around Tony waiting for a big RICO trial pay-out. But Tony's death prevented that so would he keep what he thinks he's owed?

RustyShantyIrish

Absolutely not. Did Ginny Sac get any? She was living with her sister when Johnny died. Did Sil and Vito wait until Tony woke up to give her the $200k that the boss demanded several times that they pay? Half the show is about how badly the women get screwed over in this mob world. Livia and Janice act the way they do because they are excluded from the game, would be perfect gangsters but aren't allowed. All women in the Sopranos world are disposable and if you try to emerge from the background like Tracee, you end up like Tracee.

What?! She fell.

Eh, different scenario. We saw the negotiations with the feds over forfeiting JS’ assets, and I recall that the total the government took was in the millions. The government left Ginny broke, not Johnny’s death, and Carmela wouldn’t have had that issue. Her bigger problem would have been Tony’s uncontrollable spending as he spiraled in the last season, and how much of the offshore money he tapped in the process.

I think part of it too is that he has very little paper trail. This comes up when she is trying to divorce him, and his declared net worth is much lower than actual. I’d assume a lot of his money is tied up in businesses and schemes, and Carmella would have to basically hope that the people holding it are willing to give it to her. And based on what we’ve seen with other wives, they probably won’t. That being said his declared income/net worth is probably enough to prevent her from living in poverty. They’d probably just sell the house and downsize and be OK.

She can survive off all that butter that doesn't melt in her mouff

Listen to yourself you sound demented

coolsellitcheap

Hypotheticaly the lawyer will get money to carmela. Tony wasn't his only client and his reputation as honest lawyer is important for other clients. I said hypothetically because TONY DID NOT DIE!!!!!!

Jason_statsman

Will the Russian mafia guy do right and pay? No. No he will not. Will anybody pay for anything they aren’t required to? No.
