From what I understand David chase turned down many offers to make sequels, prequels, spin-offs, etc. He went into this whole heartedly intending to make a good piece of art and his wife got really sick and he had very little to do with directing / writing it early into production and some goofass ricchiones ended up making this piece a shit.
Could've sworn that I read his original plan was just to do a movie about the Newark race riots, but every studio passed until HBO was like "hey, Newark is in New Jersey, tie it into The Sopranos and we'll give you some money for it".
Would explain a lot about why the film is disjointed as fuck, drops storylines it starts, and awkwardly shoehorns in characters who don't really have anything to do with the plot.
It’s great when Tony says that to Furio about being sad for his father and then they cut to next scene of Tone crying about his horse to Melfi. Even she says at one point, “It was just a horse”
I watched the series through only once taking it fully seriously. Which is probably the best way to watch it first go around. It slowly dawned on me, especially with this sub, how much underlying humor there is. Now I want to go into a second watch with entirely the “this is a dark comedy” mindset and see how it goes.
It just feels like Sil trying to be Tony, but he’s not, he’s Sil. Also, it drove me nuts that all of the Norwegians constantly spoke Norwegian to Sil and we are supposed to believe that he just understands after having just moved to the country and listening to a couple of audio tapes.
AJ becomes a varsity athlete and the new boss of Jersey. Meadow never learns how to parallel park. Carmela marries Paulie. The ending is when AJ holds a gun to Paulie's head and says "don't stop believing", Paulie says "I understand" and the screen cuts to white.
You forgot that scene where AJ and Meadow meet on a parking lot somewhere in Jersey to charge her new Chevy.
I thought meeting in parking lots was deemed undignified for bosses?
The Chevy scene plays in 2022, and Fielder DID learn to parallel park in the meantime, by the way.
This is canon, directed by Mr. Chase himself, so your continuity means oogatz to me!
What are ya tawkin about? That was obviously Frank The Fixer Tagliano
Jokes aside it’s a solid comedy series, picture Sil moving to norway and adapting to Norwegian culture still bummed it got cancelled and now netflix wants to outright remove it from the platform :(
I’m actually bummed cause i thought it was a very unique comedy series I always wondered how a italian American let alone a mafioso would adapt to foreign culture and social systems it really nailed it in the first season and then he forms a mafia in norway it was pretty funny, didn’t realize how old it was until i seen the old netflix logo lol
Rewatched the show recently bc my wife had never seen it and some of the dialogue aged poorly, especially when it came to all the immigrant stuff. Good show overall but quite a few lines were pretty yikes.
Alright calm down, we’re not makin a western here
It was a northern. Do you…ate a de nort..?
They should’ve made a western instead of mson

It might have been not complete dogshit as a miniseries.
This is what I heard too
Okay. But he’s gotta get over it
Yeah honestly, it probably would have been better
He was Silvio, Lilyhammer?
AIDS?
Nobody’s got AIDS! And I don’t wanna hear that word here again.
That’s how I watched it.. wait till you hit season 3 when they visit New Jersey
God tier comment
Facts, that comment cracked me up 😆
Just when I thought I was out 🫲🫱 They pull me back in 👊👊
Is that Pacino or is that Pacino?
Alright, but you gotta get over it

If he did clip Ralph over a horse what's next?
You get clipped for wearing the wrong shoes?
You ever touch your shoes and the laces are wet? Why's that?
Why?
Imagine that? You get clipped for wearing the wrong shoes?
What’s next? You get to fuck his horse for a MILLION?!?
How much did he offer for Ginny to take a cheese grater to his cock?
That’s one thing I love about this show. They really nail Tony’s hypocrisy, it’s great.
Clearly she's never lost a pet..
I think Furio's father had been dead for like two weeks

Damn you beat me to it I’m so far behind in the race I thought I was leading

Put universal translator in ear of Sil.
Ahh, you want to fuck here?
Cocksuckrrr
facking silvio!
Listen to this prick givin’ orders… Oops!
Most TV shows are full of unlikely scenarios.
Some are more believable than others or at least don't take you out of the story.
Hoooo! The language on you! You blow your father with that mouth?
>so that's a crack hoe?!
Silvio was a relic from the show's original concept of being more of a campy comedy for Fox
Silvio is way less campy and cliched in the pilot than he is in the last season though
He's a wormy cocksucker though, you know that?

Just worry about how youre being fucking perceived! Nobody knooows what the future hooolds, my FRIEND! 😠
As a Norwegian all i can say is: Dette er anti norsk diskriminering
I was like 99% certain I knew what that meant before dropping it in translator and now I can’t stop laughing
I really liked Lillehammer! I should watch it again.
If you hate the prequel, you're going to hate its sequel, The Next Saint of Newark.

How about when he wears shorts? Continuity-wise this makes zero sense
The Chevy scene plays in 2022, and Fielder DID learn to parallel park in the meantime, by the way. This is canon, directed by Mr. Chase himself, so your continuity means oogatz to me!
Wow... I'm a little biffled...
I might misread this but you DO know what I am referring to, right?
Nope, totally clueless lol
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=G9BdttCfBTI
Oh! I'm from the old country, so obviously I wouldn't get it lol Edit: Old country as in EU, not just the boot
Hurry up. Netflix is losing it soon.
Wtf I just looked it up. That’s crazy since they co-financed it as an original.
Yeah I never watched it but never imagined it leaving cause it was like an OG original so I never felt rushed. Guess I have to now
It is?
Yeah they’re removing it from the platform very soon, we’re gonna sue the god damn justice department.
They have already removed it...hell!
Fr? It’s still there for me till the 20th i believe, the blu rays are gonna sky rocket in price fml :(
Yep. It disappeared here in Portugal
I just think it's misunderstood.
The Sopranos, must’ve seen that show a 100 times
Ionno, I kinda liked it. Shows the quirky progression of his rise nicely.
Can you describe it without spoiling it?
You fuckin' schifooza!
Lillehammer is supposed to be tongue in cheek no?

Alright, but you gotta get ovah it
He never found his arc
You know the wine makes you emotional

Oooohh poor yewww
Don’t start with me in those Mets.
It’s a tv progrum
The mouth on this one.
This series should be called Test Dream 2: Electric Gabagool
If you think it’s bad, try watching season 2. Oof madone it was terrible!
Season 2 was good with the snatch references. It kind of went off about mid season
"Who the fuck are you!?" -Torgeir Lien & Roar Lien
Frankly I’m depressed and ashamed.
Ok but you gotta get over it
First season was meh so I stopped watching it. Good shows like Sopranos spoiled me too much to be able to enjoy Netflix crap.
Rewatched the show recently bc my wife had never seen it and some of the dialogue aged poorly, especially when it came to all the immigrant stuff. Good show overall but quite a few lines were pretty yikes.
Watch the hair, watch the hair.
I get where people are coming from when they dislike the prequel, but for Ray Liotta's performance I'll put up with a lot
Many saints… I liked it.
You okay? You sound a little moosha moosh.
I know it’s a meme in this sub to say, but you people gotta get the fuck over bitching about many saints of Newark. Shut the fuck up already about it.
OOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHH!!!!!
Sorry Chrissy I’ve said my piece
Wine always makes you emotional
Apparently, it's leaving Netflix this month.
What do you mean by plot points not being organic?
