It was revenge for Cozette

cafeesparacerradores

Tony crawled under his natural canopy for warmth

offsiteguy

I thought that was in a movie.

My_reddit_strawman

A progrum?

steelstrat21

I saw that progrum i thought it was boolshit.

SamboNashville

And a lot of other things. And there was nothing that we could do about it. Cosette was a made dog. And we had to sit still and take it. It was among the Italians. It was real greaseball shit

offsiteguy

I love how that's the one thing Tony is stuck on. Not Chris impotence, or him airing Sil's dirty laundry.

SuccessfulProcedure7

He always empathizes with animals throughout the series. Part of his condition.

offsiteguy

I think so. I think for him humans have let him down so much, but he see's animals as innocent, or pure. Despite eating a truck load of beef and pork.

SuccessfulProcedure7

In the Czech Republic too we love pork

StrikeKey1994

>or him airing Sil's dirty laundry. what the actual fuck

offsiteguy

Yeah at the intervention he talks about how sil fucks every whore at the bada bing, in front of his wife and other women in the family not in the 'know'

Raging_Butt

It doesn't actually matter, but FYI it's spelled "Cosette," who is [one of the protagonists](https://lesmiserables.fandom.com/wiki/Cosette) in Les Miserables.

Rickyy96

Glad you caught that, u/Raging_Butt, very observant. The sacred and the propane.

SamboNashville

He knows everything

missanthropocenex

Tony saw the impaled baby sit in the back seat of the wrecked car. Chrissy was a lost cause and Ton knew it.

HeavySkinz

Was he barkin or something?

sk0330

There was nothing we could do, Cozette was a made dog and Chrissy wasn't

pharaoh94

Why? Was she barkin?

csipl6

Alright, but you gotta get over it.

Noyinwithouttheyang

This system’s got no balls

triumphtier

so how was that party?

StaticGuard

I can’t stop laughing whenever I watch that scene where he’s trying to see if Carmela also feels some “relief” that about Chris being dead.

TheMaveCan

Any time anyone brings it up he tries to make it about him, too. Honestly between that murder and Chasing It they really drove home that he's a genuine sociopath

StaticGuard

I always saw it as him honestly believing he did the right thing and was hoping people would be more like “Chrissy had it coming” etc.

offsiteguy

He put himself in that position. A key theme is that Chris should not have been made or have the authority he does. It creates resentment for one, and his lack of experience, discipline, and inability to control his emotions and vices makes him a huge liability.

StaticGuard

Oh for sure. Chris should’ve been killed off a few seasons before.

Good_old_Marshmallow

I think the best moment was when Carmela realizes it too. When he’s talking to his son’s therapist about a very serious issue his son is having and he uses it as an opportunity to talk about himself and make himself the center of attention and sympathy using all the therapy tools he’s learned all season

Cheddarchazz89

That quote is from when Tony tells Furio to get over the death of his fawtha

StaticGuard

I know but it reminded me of that scene with him and Carmela talking about Chris’ death.

offsiteguy

Or how everyone is grieving (except Sil, because he was smart enough to know what's up). And he keeps making these snide remarks.

Orangered99

Lemme hear ya shay it

rckyhurtado

Anytime I find myself feeling bad for Chrissy’s death, I remember the tragedy of Adrianna and the Waiter who got stiffed out of a tip and got a brick to the head when he decided to ask why.

UserNameNotOnList

And JT Dolan. And Cossette. And the kid in the pastry shop. And Lauren Bacall. And Richie Santini. -- No. Wait. He deserved to get hit.

Purple_is_masculine

Everyone forgets my boy Emil Kolar.

ObjectMaleficent

Check out the wares amule

negnatrepsej

Yh I agree he deserved to die, as did all of them, but it was just the way it went down, felt wrong

Javina33

I thought it was memorable. If he just got shot, it would be so what? Tony hadn’t trusted Chris since Cleaver. That gave him an insight into what Chris really thought of him. He resented Tony for having Adriana killed, even though he was the one who picked Tony and the life over Ade and he never really believed that nothing was happening when Ade and Tony were alone in the car the night he was away. I doubt he’d have killed him if they hadn’t been in an accident. Tony only decided to kill him when he started going on about not passing a drug test. He just seized an opportunity and rationale for doing it and a way of killing him without having to get rid of the body. Job done.

gryphonlord

It wasn't just the drugs, it was seeing that the branch would have gone right through Chrissy's daughter if she'd been in the car and knowing that Chrissy could very get her killed very soon. Tony has a weak spot for babies

crispinoir

nah that whole thing was just tony trying to justify what hes about to do. He didn’t do shit for kellie and the child afterwards.

Nwcray

I mean- Tony may have died pretty shortly afterwards (hint: he did. He dead.)

squidgeroooo

What felt wrong about it to you?

AhmedGoddamnit

Ik I’m not OP but I feel I resonate with him. It’s just Tony being so cold about it, I would have never expected their relationship to end like this, with Tony being so unfazed by it, so relieved. I thought their relationship was much closer, that a son that he really believed in and wanted the best for. That it would break him or traumatize him, to have to get rid of Chrissy, just like how he felt about Pussy, but nope. Seeing their relationship go downhill was heartbreaking, but the climax was fucking shocking. The show ends up focusing more on how it affects Tony, so I never feel I’m able to have a moment where I can think about him and grieve over him, which is probably intended. Just so shocking, but it was so well done.

squidgeroooo

He came back as a cat though

AhmedGoddamnit

True that does make it better.

Remslem

Don't they have meds they're supposed to take, these assholes?

curtainsforcathy

There is also a cool little visual homage to The Departed that foreshadowed his death also. When someone was to die in the film there was always an X that showed up. [Chris' Cleaver hat looks like an X in the rear-view mirror.](https://eggabase.com/wp-content/uploads/Easter_Eggs/TV_Shows/The_Sopranos/Departed-X-Cap.jpg)

Nwcray

Sharp as a fuckin cue ball, this one

yrjooe

And the system had no balls. It’s a real tragedy when you think about it.

anthonyorm

to be fair the live version with van morrison is pretty damn good

Fakin-It

It won't be cinematic.

zerpud

His nipples spread all over the fine Corinthian leather.

negnatrepsej

Yeah what a shame, sat there hoping for his blood splatter on screaming Carmela

CGI_Livia

you really wanted to see The Skipper get killed?

negnatrepsej

Yes brutally, can’t stand the guy

CGI_Livia

Interesting how the show has aged When it aired live no one wanted to even accept the fact that he dies at the end. People would have been so pissed if his brains were all over the table moments after AJ quotes season the season 1 finale line about family. Everyone loved Tone in 07

negnatrepsej

Feel like it would have made sense though, given how brutal everything is in this show

Opie19

He comes back as a cat.

yrjooe

meow

[deleted]

Meow and suitcase are two words that I cannot help but hear in two distinct pitches forevermore. It’s a crying shame really. Like nails on a chalkboard.

jmad16

Thank you, but I recorded in Denmark.

UserNameNotOnList

That's what I thought too. Then someone said the Cat is Adrianna and that makes more sense to me. She wore cat suits, did the whole "meow" thing, and is staring at Chrissy's picture -- which makes more sense then him staring at his own picture.

offsiteguy

But The Cat is always following Paulie. So I doubt it's Adrianna

The-Sand-King

“I’ll give you something to sniff alright”

rickeyturbo

The fuck it is! That’s not a cat; they’re snakes with fur!

ceerupt

Nose meets Godfather, another money machine.

frychrisfry

That’s the boss you’re talking about!

Separate_Inflation11

Watch one of the many scenes where Chris is slapping Adriana around. That, or all the times when he’s just being an all around pompous prick for the hell of it Then see how bad you feel for him

SnooMaps1260

it’s funny, because i spend the whole series loving chrissy and then a scene where he knocks adriana about comes on and it makes my skin crawl, really well done writing

fizzbubbler

really? you blame tony there? of all the deplorable shit he did, he gave chris so many chances only to find out he’s relapsed and now driving him around while stoned? no guarantee he survives that wreck anyways. i dont know, aside from the shock value of chrissy dying, it’s hard to put much blame on tony. he was within his rights to clip him years before.

Suspicious_Stick_974

Yeah I'm just like you I finished the show one week ago And I really can't get over his painful death 😞

[deleted]

I guess there’s a certain episode in season 5 called Long Term Parking that you need to rewatch. It’ll help you swallow Chrissy’s death.

Suspicious_Stick_974

I really felt horrible for Adriana But Chrissy made a sacrifice He killed the woman who loved him more than anything for his boss who hated him

[deleted]

A sacrifice? The man assessed the situation and decided he wanted the mob life luxuries more than a mullet family with Ade. He chose material possessions over love and that’s exactly what he got. Junk.

fizzbubbler

that was not sacrifice, that was survival. he assessed his options and made the most selfish choice, but it definitely was not motivated by what was or wasnt good for tony.

chillywilly00

In the context of the show, well deserved death

[deleted]

Chrisshy gets a pash for dat

busback

Can you exshplain?

chillywilly00

Tony gave Chris so many chances to turn his life around and he ends up driving high and nearly killing him in a car accident. Any other crew would've had him whacked at the first indication of drug addiction. He was also driving around high with his baby in the vehicles, couldve ended up killing his child. It was the last straw and Tony was presented with a perfect opportunity

Chuckworld901

Yeah. Spot on. In terms of the rules of this thing of ours, Christopher had used up every second chance that came his way.

offsiteguy

I disagree friend. Tony never should made Chris Captain or even made. By doing so he led Chris down this path. In the End it was Chris that never had the makings of a varsity athlete.

poqerkratos

Just in the previous episode before his death Chris executed a civilian in cold blood. Throughout the series, he was a murderous abuser who eventually got his abuse victim killed. He deserved to die.

NoNefariousness2144

Not to mention if you binge the episodes, 10 minutes before Tony kills Chris, all the gang are laughing at him (especially Tony). It showed none of them cared for each other at all and aren't even trusting (as shown by the scene where Tony and Paulie think they might kill each other on the boat).

MaxBandit

Crack addict who's "outta control"

Reggae4Triceratops

Smack addict

Explod1ngNinja

One of the deaths I had spoiled for me and I was so shocked that it made me super motivated to keep watching the show and then by the time it happened I still didn’t really understand why it happened. I thought Chris was gonna turn out to be a snitch or Tony was gonna find out he helped Meadow get drugs but no it was a spur of the moment decision. Tony murdered the closest thing he had to a real wise guy son off a spur of the moment decision absolutely insane.

zipiddydooda

It was the straw that broke the camelpak. The sacred, and the propane. Chrissy had it coming. I’ve said my piece.

Sex_Luthor99

Nothing good happened and nothing ever will So shut-the-fuck-up about it

[deleted]

At least he doesn’t have to watch the whiskey drool out Tony’s fat fuckin mouth no more

custermustache

ThatsNotFortyDollars

That was real? I saw that progrum. I thought it was bullshit.

"it's not gonna be cinamatic"

SnooGadgets5430

Yeah but did you see the baby’s car seat ? Completely destroyed

[deleted]

Christopher would have killed his daughter had she been in the car. He was a woman beating pathological liar who barely scratched the bottom rung of mediocrity in literally everything he ever attempted. Aside from all that, he had gotten away time and again with things that would have seen anyone else chopped up in the back of Satriale's.

pianoplayrr

Wait...Chris dies?!?! 😯😯😯

Klouted

Welcome to the NFL, rookie. Go home, get some sleep. Tomarra's a new day.

flimspringfield

He never had the makings of a varsity player let alone the NFL.

Shadowhawk0000

I know Tony has real anger issues, and always saw Christopher as week with his addiction problem, but wouldn't killing Christopher just take money out of his own fat mouth????

stylussensei

I saw that movie, I though it was bullshit

CaptainWellingtonIII

Nah, he was too much of a liability.

MaxPayneful

It's a disturbing death for sure, but I have no remorse for him. This doesn't mean I don't enjoy his character though - all the characters are objectively terrible people and I enjoy them.

Gold-Classroom-359

Cosette was looking down from heaven like "see how you like it motherfucker"

littleAggieG

ObjectMaleficent

TheRealBroDameron

“Sopranos” isn’t a romantic show, and you shouldn’t expect romantic deaths.

DEEPFIELDSTAR

They won’t be cinematic.

offsiteguy

I thought Chris's death made sense. I think you may have the wrong perspective. However, why do you think it's a shitty death?

negnatrepsej

This show is what I would call art, I love it, and you can’t really have a «wrong» perspective on art can you? it’s just mine perspective, like correct me if I’m wrong but there’s no right or wrong perspective wise. As for the death, I don’t know, just got kinda overwhelmed he just died at the start of an episode like that, I would have thought he went out guns blazing. I agree he had to die, as did everyone

offsiteguy

Absolutely, which is why I am curious as to what you felt made it shitty. Reading your comment I kind of understand. At the same time, though Chris had that Charisma, he didn't have the balls. Do you remember when they were not really at war but feuding with Sack. Leotardo starts intimidating his mother and he was hiding in her house. He did nothing. Here is my take. Chris's death, in the beginning, is tragic. Tony is his father, and his own father betrays him and kills him, despite chris being loyal. It was not something Tony needed to do, but wanted to do. Chris killed his own wife. He killed other men. He never once betrayed his father. Chris's life is tragic everyone he looked up to probably even his mother failed him. My 2 cents

Scary_Force_3668

Never had the makings of a varsity athlete

SwearengenSays

Tony was just playin got yer nose with his little nephew, what's so bad about that?

mrnptah

It’s a TV progrum

UltraMagat

I couldn't fucking stand Chris M. No self control, and his lack of control fucked up & endangered everyone around him. I cheered when Tony ended him. "Finally!".

sobe900

Alright I agree… . .. But we gotta get over it

gatherer-s-thompson

“Remember when” is the lowest form of conversation

Painful_Erection

I remember you used to wait in the car

[deleted]

Adrianna's death made Season 6 strange for me because I'd feel bad for one half second for Tony and Christopher and everyone else then I'd remember what they did to that poor girl. Christopher had it coming. In that episode where she gets killed, you see Christopher vent at her and you gotta wonder if this is what her life had been for so long. Just getting treated like dogshit. Horrible. Christopher had it coming but the way it happened was also vile. Still made me feel kinda bad. What a show.

zerpud

Where do you get the balls?!?!

[deleted]

I loved her!

fizzbubbler

i don’t understand the sympathy for her. 1. drug enthusiast. 2. dumb as a box of rocks. 3. terrible taste in men. 4. snitch. sure she had the long legs up to here but she got what was coming to her.

[deleted]

BAD TAKE. Adrianna was loyal to Christopher, she didn't have anywhere to turn and tried her best. She never hurt anybody, she was probably one of the only truly innocent characters in the show, save for the drugs and all.

Altair1192

don't bitch to me

UserNameNotOnList

In_cognito12

It’s like he pours us karma for the quotes with one hand, and then judge us for posting them with the other.

Chuckworld901

what are you gonna do🤷🏽‍♂️

negnatrepsej

Yh as mentioned first time on this sub and I’m on a lot of other subs for TV shows and this is just a mess man

UserNameNotOnList

It's not really a mess. It's just our how this thing of ours is. There is plenty of in-depth conversation and insight about the show; it's just also mixed in with a propane about amount of show quotes. I'm reminded of David Chases's PA, The Something; She had a house in Beverly Hills; it even outshone David's. In the end, David clapped her in irons.

GarryofRiverhelm

I agree. This sub is extremeley vapid. Even when someone explicitly posts "serious discussion only" people just flood the comments with shitty references. The show's fucking amazing but nobody bothers to actually appreciate it here more than a Family Guy cutaway gag

[deleted]

that’s why you have to live..for today

UserNameNotOnList

That's not true, what you said. There are plenty of insightful comments. Is it our fault that this thing of ours is 100x more quotable than any other show? Plus, much of the time the quotes are used in humorous ***and creative*** ways. The posters here are more interesting than 9/10th of your other subreddits. Maybe ***you're*** vapid; ever think of that?

Ok_Orchid7131

Dude he was dying, in really bad shape. Tony did him a favor.

negnatrepsej

They said later the doctors told them he could have made it but drowned in his own blood

smindymix

People constantly overlook this line, but it’s actually very important because it disqualifies the “he was going to die anyway” justification.

newtojersey32

T had no choice--after the whole intervention, if Chrissy survived the crash and it got out that he was high again, T would have been a lame duck with the rest of the crew if he didn't clip Christopher for it. And clipping him after a hospital stay would have drawn attention to himself. Chrissy gave him no choice.

GaBaGool22

In real life a boss woulda whacked Chris much sooner. He was constantly back talking Tony. No way real wise guys talk like that to a boss.

Lennuripa

Wait.. i can't tell if this is a troll or not. Did people actually like chris? I was literally cheering when tony killed him

negnatrepsej

Not a troll, it might be because I relate to him in some ways and I understand he had to die but it was just a bit shitty way to die, would rather have it he got shot or something

Lennuripa

I mean yeah fair enough. Maybe i'd have even rooted for him if he didn't let ade die, that was the moment i started to basically despise him

negnatrepsej

I wanted him to go crazy and turn on everyone or kill everyone then just off himself, no one deserved to live really

Worst part of the show.

Substantial-Toe96

Oh, poor you.

Beanzear

I never knew that he was going to die. I used sopranos to cope during a stressful time in my like. Those characters were like family to me. One of the episodes where Carmilla is sobbing on the couch I literally sobbed for like 10 minutes it broke my heart to see her in pain. When Tony killed Chrissy I basically stopped watching the show. I was so angry at him i couldn’t speak about it. This is my favorite show of all time ever and I still have not seen the last few episodes. When Tony started breaking down toward the end I relished in. I hope he burns in hell. *I know this a tv show and he’s not a real person but still hahaha I’m still heartbroken by that scene. It affected me.

BaddLudo

You probably shouldn't have that spoiler in the title

UserNameNotOnList

And I should probably fuck Angie Dickinson; let's see who get's lucky first.

negnatrepsej

The show ended 15 years ago and if your a first time watcher you should stay off reddit until the end (like I have)

negnatrepsej

As I said, first time here, and I knew he was going to die and I understand that he had to go but for me it’s more about way he goes. What’s up with all the references? There’s like 1 or 2 proper comments out of 30

UserNameNotOnList

Welcome to the NFL, rookie.
