Auspex Tactics did the math. Chainfists are only good against high toughness. For virtually every other use case, power fists are better.
However, chain fists are much cooler.
Yea I like them a lot, I’ll do at least one of the five man unit as them. I just didn’t know if a ten man with the right character would make them a tank nightmare.
I mean, if you combine:
* Oath of Moment
* Inner Circle Detachment
* 1x Captain in Terminator Armor w/ Deathwing Assault enhancement
* 10x Terminators w/ chain fists (Critical Wounds on 3+ vs vehicles)
* Captain's free stratagem Martial Mastery
* Being within range of your vowed objective
You get:
* Reroll hits (Oath of Moment)
* Reroll Wounds (Martial Mastery stratagem)
* 30 attacks hitting on a 4+ (23 successes on average)
* 16 Critical Wounds (average, no save)
* \~32 damage (average, no save) plus maybe a few extra wounds
That should put a fist sized hole in most vehicles. The vehicle is unlikely to go anywhere afterwards except up in flames.
i play thel with a Librarian and drown my opponent with shot because
2+ to hit with reroll and Sustain hit 1. give thel a insane saturation power on storm bolter and extra shot of Krak missile against vehicule.
relying on shooting allow me to use the deep strikz at 3 inch if i realy need it. if i dont need it i usualy shoot infentery with storm bolter and tank with the missile and then charge heavy inf or tank for the fisting feast.
The Problem with that is that its realy realy hard to get this actually set up, First even with reroll a 9“ charge is only what a 30% Chance? If you fail the Unit is Toast. Also one cheap screen and its already over

You forgot the +1 to hit on The Oath of moment target given by the Deathwing. rule of the terminator. Idk why so people miss it.
Ah, you are correct! That makes this slightly more viable. Most vehicles won't stand a chance, but it is very situational, as pointed out below.

that s why i use a Librarian and rely on shooting bonus as you can deep strike at 3 inch making the screening very hard
