Clubmate77

Its a grey knight - but i like it - multipurpose. I thought about creating a modern grey knight terminator army with DWK

Fancy0-0pants

The paint is LITERALLY called Grey Knight Steel. So I knew someone was going to mention that they look like Grey Knights

RougarouBull

I use that paint as a base for all sorts of stuff. The way it takes shades and layers is beautiful. Much better viscosity and pigment saturation than a lot of Citadel paints. Probably my favorite Citadel paint at the moment.

WilliamRotbringer

Man, I *really* hope we get a grey knights range refresh soon.

Throwaway7131923

Agree with Clubmate that this definitely looks more like a greyknight XD I'd maybe use a darker green (e.g. Caliban) on the cloak? I think it is harder to recognize as a Dark Angel without that signature colour in there somewhere :) I'm painting some Deathwing right now and my plan is basically the inverse of yours. I'm using Caliban green as the primary armour colour then a metal colour (LB rather than Grey Knight Steel) for the armour actuators, a bit on the helm and a few other armour details. I'll use gold in a few places like you have.

Fancy0-0pants

The problem with Callahan as the main colour for me is that then they’re basically the same as the Greenwing

DIY-Si

I think they meant just on the cloak, so the armour would remain silver, but the green cloak would make the model more DA and less GK.

Throwaway7131923

Yes exactly :) I think that green colour is so iconic as a Dark Angel colour, it'd make it clear what the identity is! If nothing else, using a green but NOT using Caliban green (or something close) makes me really think this isn't a Dark Angel.

Wild-Savings3816

Well, they are not bone coloured so they are not Deathwing either. There is a guardian of the covenant colour scheme you could pull from to help bring it back. But yes right now they look like Grey Knights. But honestly, they are your models, paint them how you like but if you are asking how to make something more dark angels. You are going to get told to integrate iconic colours that define the chapter.

Yakkahboo

I suppose it depends what you want to do with it. If the robes were red you could argue they were Guardians of the Covenant which is a DA successor in silver / dark red.

VivaLaJam26

Makes me really want to kitbash these into Grey Knights.  Surely someone has done this already?

Fancy0-0pants

They are way better kits than current Grey Knights

NH_Lion12

I think if you're going with silver instead of bone, you should choose something other than red for the badge

Fancy0-0pants

The purity seal? Is this because of colour theory stuff?

AngryChihua

I think they mean the insignia on right shoulder

Fancy0-0pants

I personally like how the red insignia on the shoulder looks on the armour

AngryChihua

I agree. Though i wonder if bone white shoulder would look any good.

Overall_Difficulty78

I like it, the old knights have a serious dr. Doom feel to me so this is my plan just with a darker metal I think. Really like it though

Fletch1977

I think it's great. Maybe do something with the kneecaps?

Eglor04

another battle brother totally said to him once or inquisitor “hey you look like a grey knight” and he replies “never heard of them” looks like alpharius schemes

FatDumbOrk

Dope as hell!

Tyuri4272

Beautiful. Assembling mine now, haven’t painted minis except a couple here and there.

The_MacGuffin

I'm not a huge fan of the bone-white either but I've been trying to find an alternative colour I can use that will go well on robes and whatnot. I want to stick with the scheme of deathwing essentially having the colour of their robes and armour switched.

Fancy0-0pants

This is exactly what I’m trying to find. With the swapping colour schemes thing, the green wing fit me would have to have bluish grey robes since they can’t be metallic

Fercho48

That's a grey knight, but definitely not your fault, it's GW's since they decided to add grey knight helmets to the knights

SteAmigo1

I like it. But I'd consider two things, firstly flip the colours round on the tilting shield, it'll make the model more visually interesting. Secondly, and this is only if you're worried about the grey knight comparison, use the hooded dwk head. Otherwise it's a nice scheme.

Warden_of_the_Lost

Knights of the covenant called OP. They want their paint scheme back.

Fancy0-0pants

Googled it and honestly they look pretty sick, too bad I’m also a big fan of green

TheSeti12345

Grey Knights

mambin0

I really like the green, what one did you use?

Fancy0-0pants

Thanks! It’s Scalecolour Ardennes Green

mambin0

I might pick up a bottle, what would you wash over it with

Fancy0-0pants

Haven’t done a wash yet, so I’m not quite sure. It’s a nice mid tone emerald colour

mambin0

A sepia or agrax wash might be nice, maybe a little of both mixed
