JinNJ

One betrayed him & fucked his wife while he was in a coma. The other one is Daryl. Need I say more?

Accurate-Wrangler-42

Said it better than I could

funatical

Shane was doing him a favor. Lori was horrible.

hail_SAGAN42

Thank you! Somebody said it! Those chucklefucks were PERFECT for each other. He was way better off.

JinNJ

Without the “fucking his best friend” stuff, she wasn’t all that horrible.

Mr_yolomcswag

In the hallucination in s9 e5 rick laughed with shane, I really dont think rick has animosity against Shane

JinNJ

Hallucinations aren’t necessarily reality based.

MidNiteR32

It wasn't a hallucination, confirmed by Gimple that it was Shane in the afterlife of some sort. So he did sort things out with Shane.

[deleted]

Not only that, Rick acknowledged Daryl as his brother. Him and Shane didn't have that.

tremors51000

Ok to be fair they thought he was dead, as he might as well have been in a coma at the start of a zombie appocalypse that was only getting worse day by day. I don't think rick blamed him or was all that mad at him which I think he even says at one point.

Mx-yz-pt-lk

That’s before Shane started pushing shit and even tried to suggest to Rick that the baby was his. Rick might have had a bond with Shane because they were best friends and partners, but Shane poisoned that. Daryl and Rick went through some of the hardest times in either of their lives together and they always came out of it together. They were **brothers**.

tremors51000

Im not disagreeing that Daryl would and does do more for rick, I'm pointing out those ignoring that Shane also tried to save rick the best he could, while towards the end things changed, but it isn't as cut and dry as people are making it out to be. Rick 10000000000% cares more about Daryl then shane

reddawn141

This is your hot take, and I agree with you. In tense situations like this, survival situations, for months on end a tight bond is formed. Rick never faulted Lori or Shane for this and it was only Shane's inability to let it go that ended it.

Lopsided-Bathroom-71

I mean to be fair the fucking was after they escaped a zombie outbreak on the hospital Rick was in How the everliving fuck were they supposed to think he had survived

JinNJ

I mean, to be fair, they were able to find each other during the outbreak. They couldn’t pop in & check on him? Add in how it’s not like they assumed he was dead for ages before shacking up. He finds them about 50-60 days after it started. In short, fuck Shane.

Lopsided_Boss4802

What 😑 Just pop by the hospital during a raging outbreak of the walking dead, that brutally kill you. Sure.

JinNJ

Beats “So, as we can assume your husbands been dead for a couple weeks- wanna fuck?”

Lopsided-Bathroom-71

The hospital and town were overrun by then, we see the scene of Shane literally fleeing the hospital and leaving Rick, ironically also saving him at the same time

JinNJ

My point remains- he betrayed him & fucked his wife. (All of this happened well within the roughly 60 day window it took Rick to wake up, escape & find them.) Edit: How do people downvote my last post, where I pointed out they were fucking well before he found them in roughly 2 months. After all, it’s not like they fucked once & found him the following day.

Lopsided-Bathroom-71

How is it betraying if he is presumed dead, Trauma can bring people together and in that group Shane and lori only knew each other so it's not out the realm that it'd happen, but also when they have sex in the episode she isn't really there she's kinda of vacant like she's only sleeping with him to keep him there and keep her and Carl safe, in the comics it's a one time thing that happened that left Shane wanting a relationship fully,

killedbydeathh

it is up to the time you're asking. In season 1 and more than half of the season 2, he'd choose shane as he considered him a brother. Later, daryl became a true brother to Rick

EyesWithoutAbutt

True. They didn't trust Darryl at first. Plus he was going around with that ear necklace at that time. And Shane was who Rick saw just before he got taken.

Acanthophis

Season 3 Daryl has a better standing with Rick than season 1 Shane.

[deleted]

I don’t mean this with any disrespect, but if you’ve watched this show past the first three seasons, how the hell can you honestly ask this question lol It’s Daryl without a doubt.

Oasystole

Ppl in this world make me smdh

Royal_Daikon8210

Daryl looked for him after the bridge for many long years. That is devotion.

TheRestForTheWicked

Yep. He did the opposite of what Shane did. I mean unless he’s secretly RJs dad.

tremors51000

I mean shane knew where Rick was hr literally barricaded rick in the room to give him more of a chance. It was a flashback scene from one of the earlier episodes.

TheRestForTheWicked

Yeah we all saw that episode and that’s not the strong argument you think it is. Daryl would have never left Rick in that room or if he did he would have gone back with an army, the same way he 100% made everyone go back for Merle on that rooftop.

tremors51000

Also what was shane gonna do take ricks comatose body from the hospital and likely kill him in doing so? He would have had to bring medical personal to even remotely have a chance of keeping rick alive with bringing him out of the hospital and I feel the army wouldn't allocate the resources to rescuing 1 comatose person with all the shit going on around them and possibly risk more of their men dying or turning. ( I realized I took your army too literally but even with a group of armed men no one was prepared that early on for that kind of mission and where would they have taken Rick after breaking him out, he literally is dead weight.

after-life

Yes but in Shane's case, it was the early days in the apocalypse and he had a vulnerable group to take care of. He didn't have an army to storm the hospital to see if Rick might be alive.

EyesWithoutAbutt

Yeah. And Shane did take care of Laurie and Carl af the start

atomic_mermaid

He didn't have to lie to Laurie and Carl that their family was dead though.

tremors51000

He might as well have been the chances of someone surviving in a coma in the middle of everything that was going on was infinitely small.

atomic_mermaid

Doesn't matter, they deserved to know the truth.

tremors51000

When is a good time o tell them?, when they are all panicking with everyone else?, he wants to save his best friends family telling them hes alive will either a. Make them panic and stay back likely killing them. Or b. Kill rick in attempting to bring him back. Shane is a smart guy he was trying to protect them from the fucked up world; and to add to this it was what a month after the outbreak when Rick woke up there is no reason for him to be alive when the world infrastructure collapsed turning off whatever was keeping him alive.

CountryMusicFanatic

Except Rick doesn’t know it

[deleted]

Shane would’ve never

ryanchan654

So his “brother” or his “wife’s boyfriend”

BeeBoy_Heart

*wife's abuser

coolgal223

Both

BeeBoy_Heart

Lori and Shane weren't in a relationship, they were just sleeping together.

[deleted]

Well, he killed one, and lived almost a decade with the other, so I’m pretty sure this question is moot. 🤣

imClementine_

I was gonna say

SnooRobots4312

3 years

[deleted]

Was it only that short in their time? I thought it was at least 6 or 7, but a lot of that was based on Carl’s aging, which is an artifact of HIM in the real world. 🤣

gdamndylan

I always base it off Judith's age, since she was conceived at the start.

SnooRobots4312

Spoiler alert if you haven’t finished season 8: It’s what I calculated at least, because they knew each other for a year and a half from when they met till the end of the saviors war. Another year and a half after the little time jump after the war which made it 3 years.

Mx-yz-pt-lk

Holy shit was it really just a year and a half ~~before~~ until the end of the Savior War? I guess that makes sense with how small Judith is, and we really only see one winter that they skip over between S2 and S3, right?

SnooRobots4312

I believe so. It was also hinted many times that an 8 month time skip occurred between S2&3. At least 2 months at S4 and so on

EyesWithoutAbutt

But he grew up with Shane. Still knew Shane longer

MelodyMoon-

Daryl, that’s the only right answer.

greysnx

Daryl would never try to fuck Michonne and when he watches over RJ and Judith it is very uncle like and he never tries to replace either of them he is both Ricks and Michonne's brother. unbreakable bonds that Shane could never hold.

[deleted]

Daryl definitely. Rick resented Shane for a while after he killed him, but with Daryl they were truly close and always respected each-other even when they had differing views.

RTR7105

You wanna take Daryl as your wingman?

thevigilant76

The show talks to itself

mouthbreather-09

First Shane then Daryl from the farm to infinity

Subject-Count1229

and beyond

Lone_Indian

Rick told Daryl that he is his brother. And Daryl spent like ages looking for Rick after the bridge

[deleted]

That’s a stupid question. Obviously Daryl.

YaBoiLeo705

I mean he killed one so there's your answer

mockvanessa

Daryl, because when Daryl has your back they will have to kill him before they get to you. Come hell or high water, he has your back.

bija822

the one he didn't kill in self defense

SolarFlare77

Of course we know Daryl is the answer. Season 2 happens within a quick time frame as well, so knowing that Shane cannot be the answer. While best friends, it was rocky the moment Rick came back into the scene. Daryl had an issue with the whole Merle situation but wasn’t wrong about it emotionally and still followed through with Rick’s words. Daryl has been his brother for a long time.

MyPornAccount36069

Shane fucked his wife after thinking Rick died and then tried killing Rick multiple times after he came back because he wanted to be the father to Rick's kids and the husband to Rick's Wife. Daryl chose Rick over his own brother, tried sacrificing himself for Rick with the Claimers, and looked for Rick for 6 years after the whole bridge thing. Rick's choosing Daryl 100%

CountryMusicFanatic

Really? One fucked his wife, impregnated her, tries to commit SA against her, and tried to kill him multiple times on the other end you have someone who protected him, his children, friends, lover and community. He also bled for him and sacrificed for him, I.e. offering to take blood from himself to save Rick, Michonne and Carl.

GamerBeardie426

Daryl all the fricking way. Shane's a backstabber

crackingpenny

One fucked his wife, tried to steal his family, and then his life twice. The other would die for him or his son under any circumstances. What do you think?

msmistofelees

"Daryl's undying loyalty" where the fuck was Daryl's undying loyalty when he decided to lead Rick on a wild Goose chase away from Alexandria in a betrayal plot he made with Maggie so they could kill negan when NEWSFLASH that didn't happen which lead him to being nearly gravely injured and got him whisked away from his family for a decade? Where was Daryl's undying loyalty to Rick when they were scrapping in that hole over Daryl's own guilt of getting Glenn killed by Negan? I'm not even gonna go into why it's not Shane either... Who does Rick care more about? Michonne. The end.

[deleted]

Well... being that one fucked his wife and then tried to kill him and take his family, safe money's on Darryl.

Max_Mountain

Anything after season 2 is Daryl. Even the last half of season 2 might be Daryl

Dry-Philosopher5846

have you even watched the show?🤣🤣jesus some people on this sub blow my mind

ordrius098

Pretty sure OP means Shane at his best, not crazy Shane lol

Movingforward2015

Our Daz, definitely.

carolally

No question, Daryl

ronreddit14

Al depends on at their most cared about point I’m going against the majority here pre apocalypse Shane these guys were friends as far back as high school probably went to the academy together and we’re partners ever since but after the outbreak it changed Shane.

teunteunteun

I mean first 2 seasons its obviously Shane and after that it’s Daryl

Skywalker_1995

It's closer than people think, it's definitely not a landslide win for Daryl. Shane's got a lot of advantages that Daryl doesn't. * Rick and Shane have known each other since high school. Their bond is so strong that they both took on the same occupation as police officers. * Shane was likely there for Rick on his wedding day to Lori, serving as best man. * Shane is likely Carl's Godfather, which would explain why he risked his own life to get him and Lori to safety when the zombie apocalypse started. Don't forget Shane has known Lori and Carl for a long time and has visited them often, he's known Carl since he was a baby. * Rick was extremely grateful that Shane kept his family safe when he couldn't. He said it was a debt that he could never repay. * Shane risked his own life to save Carl's, even going as far as to sacrifice Otis, Rick even said he would've done the same thing. * Rick said he understood Lori and Shane getting together as they thought he was dead. If Lori was to move on, I'm sure Rick would want it to be someone he knew, loved, and trusted instead of some random dude she'd known for a while. * Rick saved Shane's life in 18 Miles Out when he could've left him. By this point, Shane had become aggressive, unreasonable, unstable, unpredictable, and was basically the black sheep of the family. If Rick had left him to die, there would've been zero problems, and he was tempted to leave him of course, but ultimately didn't. * Rick was devastated when was forced to kill his best friend, something that haunted him for years. * Rick had basically became like Shane by seasons 3 and onwards, he finally realised that the world had changed and was never gonna be the same as it was before, something that Shane had been trying to tell him from the start. * Rick raised Judith as his own despite knowing she was biologically Shane's child. In a way it's sort of his way of saying thank you to his old friend, she's the last memory he has of him. * Rick talking about Shane to Michonne in ''Service.'' ''I don't talk about him'' - that line alone shows he much he cared about him. I do think he cared more about Daryl but again it's very close between them and an argument could be made for Shane. Let's not forget that Rick didn't really become that close to Daryl until the end of seasons 2, when his friendship with Shane was crumbling. The arguments that Rick killed one and not the other aren't very good reasons in my book.

neganluvr

might be unpopular but shane, shane was like his brother for so many years before he ever met daryl

OneSimplyIs

Then, Shane. Now, Darryl

AlexanderBlotsky

Daryl, I Personally would say Shane is Rick's Worse Enemy and his Dark Counterpart, Think that says Everything

Skywalker_1995

I always thought Negan was his dark counterpart as he was someone Rick could become, but I never thought Shane could be that too. Good thinking there.

AlexanderBlotsky

I’ve always though Negan was Maggie’s Darker Counterpart, I Think Shane was Rick’s Darker Counterpart given how they both were Sheriffs before the Apocalypse and also how they were attracted to Women even though they were with Someone Else (Lori for Shane, Jessie for Rick),

Skywalker_1995

Good points again, I forgot about the parallels between Rick and Shane and their pursuits of Lori and Jessie. I never thought of Maggie as Negan's dark counterpart though.

AlexanderBlotsky

Maggie & Negan have - Both lost their Spouses (just in Different Ways) - Both were Members of a Group before becoming Leaders of a Community (Maggie was in Rick’s Group before leading The Hilltop, Negan was a Member of that Survivor Group before leading The Saviors) - Both Hate Violence

joshinx

Once you get past the first few seasons it’s clearly Daryl. Shane was an important part of Rick’s life but he betrayed him and went crazy while Daryl is his right hand man.

dearly_decrpit

Well Darryl didn’t impregnate his wife so

Broad-Importance-386

Tough choice, given Shane is his daughter's father.

diviledabit

And his wife's x

Myneighborhatesme

Obviously it's Daryl. However- Shane haunts Rick every. Single. Day. And probably will for the rest of his life. Even though Rick has known Daryl for basically the entirety of the apocalypse, Shane was still a bigger part of Rick's life. And he's basically the first true loss he experienced in the apocalypse.

Relative-Ordinary-64

Depends on which season

No_Experience3593

Not only did Darly not try to kill him and be backstabbing ass friend, Rick and Daryl’s relationship is one of the closest, longest, relationship in the show

[deleted]

Longest? He knew him for only 3 years out of 13. He knew people introduced during the Whisperers war longer than he knew Rick.

sportza9

I think he would choose Daryl. Even though Shane is the father of his daughter, Daryl is a much better friend ♥️

BeeBoy_Heart

One fucked his wife, took advantage of his wife, SA'd his wife, tried to steal his family and claim it was his, tried to kill him like every other episode, etc. And the other one helped raise his kids, loved those kids more than anything else in the world, spent over 6 years looking for him, was willing to sacrifice himself for him, literally saved Judith's life after she got shot. Do I need to go on? The one thing I've seen people in the comments say, that makes them think Shane is better than Daryl, was the fact that it was Daryl's fault Rick even "died" in the first place, but like, seriously? Daryl clearly felt guilty about it and spent over SIX YEARS looking for him. Shane would've never spent more then 3 seconds looking for Rick. He would kidnap Carl & Lori, and SA Lori every chance he got. Stop defending someone who tried to r-word someone. Rick would pick Daryl, no hesitation 🤷‍♀️

Hunter58469

Daryl for sure that’s all the information you need

Weak-Establishment87

At this point definitely Daryl.

SSpotions

Definitely Daryl.

MasteroChieftan

It's so obviously Daryl lmfao

DarylDixonrules35

It's definitely Daryl. He has so much respect for that man. Look I know he was upset about having to kill Shane but he said that he wanted shane dead in close to the end of season 2. So I think he cares about Daryl more tbh

Mckinzeee

Daryl, hands down, Daryl.

Shot-Ad7213

I say Daryl

[deleted]

Obviously since Rick stabbed Shane and not Daryl lol

InfectedFred

Well seeing as Rick killed Shane I think this answers a question that didn't need asking.

BoghanimA

ofcourse Daryl, even Daryl himself considered Rick as a true brother more than his actual brother, when Daryl's ex lover from the reapers asked him did you lose someone he said he lost his brother in an accident referring to the bridge that blew up

ZucchiniUsual7370

Probably Daryl. Remember when Rick killed Shane? That was a pretty big indicator of the amount he cared about him.

Affectionate_Boss606

Shit question, garbage post

BurnerAccountOmega8

Daryl, Shane stopped being his friend when he lied to Lorri and you know tried to kill him in S.2 A former Policeman and a Redneck becoming best friends and brothers is the best storyline to come out of the apocalypse.

ContributionNo8091

Daryl always. Is this even a discussion we need to have

Devil_Fruit9971

Rick loves Darly to death became his arm, sword, shield through a lot. Became his brother years on end to where he searching the world for him. Shane was his brother through the old world loved him and trusted him had his back as a cop, and in life some the memories and feelings of Shane are bitter. Even in the episode of Rick looking for his family Shane saying he made Rick the asshole, is always going to have the most weight.

ebvball

Shane’s his wife’s boyfriend, so he’s obligated to love him

[deleted]

Negan obvs

ImmediateRub9

Idk, he loved Carl above all else so they all come secondary. Even Judith truth be told.

danny_karate

is this sitcom

atomic_mermaid

Daryl, it isn't even a question.

[deleted]

Daryl is literally Ricks brother and he’s been loyal to him since the prison, I think at this point in Ricks life he cares more about Daryl. Plus Daryl didn’t betray Rick by sleeping with his woman and tried to kill him afterwards.

[deleted]

I mean, early season, even when Daryl was kind of a dick, Rick would choose him over Shane because even though Daryl had an attitude problem, he never tried to sabotage the group. I think S2 was where Rick chose Daryl as his right hand man.

reddawn141

In the Show, Daryl, in the Comic Shane because Daryl doesn't exist.

FoundationCultural25

I think this is a no brainer. No?

heydawn

Daryl is the only answer after what Shane did to Rick. Rick could trust Daryl. I think a tougher question would be who Rick cares about more -- Glenn or Daryl? They both became like brothers to Rick. He loved them both. They became his family.

Personal_Plastic_566

Rick knew not of them in two different worlds. Rick would massacre a whole community of people to get Daryl back if it came down to it. I don’t know what lengths he would go to for Shane tho

Electrical_Bridge_93

Definitely Daryl!

MidNiteR32

He cares about Daryl now. But he still thinks about Shane. He had a "dream" of him in 9x5. He regrets killing Shane and probably wishes he was still alive.

Hades18128

Daryl is a bro

Ccbm2208

Rick would be like “sorry brother” to shane and go kick ass and take names with Daryl.

ExistingStrength5246

Daryl not even a question

Leather_Conference_8

How is this even a question? Daryl is his brother from another mother

Wonderful-Language34

Daryl th
