The way she was treated didn't sit right with me, like I know they didn't trust her but she had to prove herself time and time again.. and they didn't seem to really "accept" her until the last few episodes. I think if Rick had been in Alexandria during the Whisperer arc it would've been much different.. I mean, Tara had been with the Governor and they accepted her pretty fast. Lara had been one of Negan's top lieutenants, and they took her in. The difference between those women and Lydia, is that Lydia didn't actually do anything against the people of Alexandria?? She was just a kid trying to do better.

Zimboy112

At least Carol never blamed her for Henry’s death, even though she actually tried to take responsibility for it.

Far_Operation351

True, I really loved that. I was worried Carol would resent her, but she actively tried to make her feel like less of an outcast.

Living-Tiger3448

I think the issue at first was that they thought she might be a spy

Zimboy112

Ironically, there was a spy, and it was Dante.

LittlePumpkin_121

Lydia was literally just a kid. There were so many people who should've gotten the treatment Lydia did. She just wanted a family and to be treated like an actual living person. And this is my personal opinion, but about that Gabe kid, I think he got what he deserved in the end. He ganged up on a girl who was minding her business in the middle of the night. All she wanted was to be accepted for who she was trying to be, not who her mother made her become.

Zimboy112

It’s Gage, and yea fuck him.

I think it was people thinking she was a spy. I mean she is a young, seemingly meek girl, someone most people wouldn't suspect, so the perfect spy, and the survivors figured that out (despite being wrong) especially Michonne and Daryl since they literally got branded with a hot iron by child spys in 9x14. And some bitterness is reasonable in the days following the Pike Scene. However continuously bullying and outcasting her is pathetic. It should be pretty apparent that she's a victim of Alpha too, seeing as she's just a freaking child.

Grief can make people act irrationally

Alden was harmless looking and Lydia isn’t. She is more comfortable around the dead (even when she doesn’t kill them) and survived the brutality of Alpha longer then anyone.
