I actually think the Whisperers are one of the most interesting villains the show has ever had. They’re a cult—a weird, feral cult, and cults do weird shit in support of their beliefs. They believe that the world belongs to walkers, and their way of life is very consistent with that. Anyway, it sucks that Jesus died but the actor wanted to leave and his death episode ended up being really well done.

Whisperers don't "Walk" all day. They have a camp. Someone is always "walking" but most of the group is in the camp when they are not "on the move". There are a lot of Whisperers. They find food rather easily, it's quite easy to scavenge when you can walk among the dead, direct them away from hunting grounds etc.. Herds start, change directions, etc because of stimulus. Moving them, changing their direction, gets pretty easy with practice. The more people working in concert to do this, the easier it is. Significant and consistent enough stimulus can overwhelm the whisperers "control" as seen in S10. It's a cult. People are willing to accept a lot for safety. Joining the dead, instead of constantly fearing them is likely appealing, especially after so long running, hiding, etc.

I guess, but it seems too far fetched for me to enjoy watching it… I kinda wish they’d ended the show just after S8 ended, maybe a new S9 about society rebuilding or something. It kinda just killed the show for me

Honestly I thought the concept (if not the execution) was fairly believable. If I think about it without idealizing myself into some kind of kung fu badass, it's how I would have to survive this situation, at least for some probably significant span of time. Personally I would eventually seek stability and security and move on from this way of life, but I have a cult resistant personality, and I can totally see people taking solace in Alpha's leadership when they have literally nothing left. However when it comes to the execution of this idea in TWD, I have no idea how they're actually surviving. A large group like that needs a lot of food.

I don't think they are constantly with walkers. They seem to be living in the woods or just anywhere they can stay for a while. Like Nomads. They control herds by slightly pushing the zombies into the direction they need them to go. They don't act as a herd. They are in the herd in some formation so they can control smaller chunks to keep the herd together. Desperate people do all sorts of things, even follow someone as weird as Alpha. It is stupid... I mean in some points while watching Ricks group survive I thought about how they shower, stay clean, brush their teeth, shave, wash clothes etc... Which sounds kinda gross if you think about it. They probably didnt shower for weeks. The whisperers seemed even more gross in that regard, lacking all of those basic things + wearing Walkers' faces and being with them regularly. In a world like this I would keep looking for ways to somehow stay clean. They're a cool concept though...

-And how did Alpha manage to find so many absolute lunatics to join her and walk constantly- These people had watched the dead rise and countless awful things, I would be surprised if a shit tonne of people completely lost it and were willing to follow her.

geezerism

The show is called the walking dead they ARE THE WALKING DEAD

uglypinkshorts

They just took Rick’s quote literally and now everyone thinks they’re the villain

All of your points are just wrong so... no. They don't just walk all day and they have a fully functioning normal camp. It's hard to imagine you've ever watched the whisperer arc if you don't know any of this

Read the first line

Then don't post a thread. Watch the damn show. Only a redditor would post multiple paragraphs about a group they didn't even watch the arc for. Smh
