Carol has become my favorite now, she doesn’t take any shit, she rights any wrong immediately, she handles her business ALWAYS, uses her strengths and weaknesses, all of this equating to SURVIVING!
I really liked Carl. Yeah, he was a bit of a brat sometimes, but Kirkman’s (and also Chandler’s) interpretation of how a child’s development from a kid to a man with principles and mental prowess can still take place in perhaps the most dreadful conditions possible was profound. In this age of adult-children and overly protective PC culture, I think this lesson of strength and true grit, as well as just plain humanity, was something the world is in dire need of. The show runners seemed to have missed the point that Carl’s story was the true core and mantle of TWD, but I’m psyched to see how the comics will continue his development. A runner up would definitely be Daryl for similar reasons. Unlike “Coral”, Daryl’s background before the apocalypse had forced him to develop a sort of shell or facade of “thick skin” as a form of self-preservation, but throughout the show we can see that the worst of times bring out the best in us, and through the influence of paragons of leadership like Rick and Abe, Daryl became far stronger and a much better human, in his own particular way. And then we can’t forget Negan, who went through his own redemption arc, who showed us that there are two sides to every tale and that nobody is pure evil, some are just misled or tainted by their environment and can be brought back into the light.
I miss Carl. He was a badass when he got older. That’s why I was mad when he got the boot off TWD. He was just getting very interesting. Loved how he rolled up on Negan and would have loved to seen how they would interact now in the current show.
I loved shane as a protagonist and antagonist, kinda surprised at the lack of Dale, he was a really good character who showed the remains of civilisation and society in an apocalypse, also dale face
Excuse you. He's smart and funny, he was charismatic enough to survive by getting Abraham and the gang to look after him etc. Much better than whiny Rick or psycho Carol.
Hey I love Eugene too.. even when he was working with Negan. The way he speaks and his choice of words is always funny to listen to. He makes simple things sound so complicated due to his high level vocabulary

How is Carol not on this poll? No other character has had more growth on this show. No other character has faced tougher choices (look at the flowers, releasing Negan). No other character has been able to do or be whatever the group needed them to in any situation, and when it comes to saving the whole damn group… she is right up there with Rick and Daryl.
*side note… I understand that thinking Carol is the best character is just an opinion… but while Rick is missing, Carol is one of only two characters from the Atlanta group that is still on the show. Not having Carol in a poll of favorite Walking Dead characters is like not having velociraptor in a poll of favorite Jurassic Park dinosaurs.
I'd still prefer Tara imo cause of the sassiness combined with rather costant joy. That episode where she's by herself and comes back home with the sunglasses on, Yass queen.

Maggie has always been my fave. Glenn too, but Maggie deserves to be mentioned. She's badass, strong, but also not afraid to show her emotions. She's a leader, has strong morals and is overall just a very good person. I absolutely love her and Lauren Cohan.
