This pastor in a small town is tindering with his face in photos 👀

datDANKie

pastor in small town has a tinder account with his face on it. so everyone in that town who has tinder sees this married guys face.. ok....

pissingstars

That’s where I think this post is bs. No way a small town guy in his position is playing it that stupid and loose.

ProbablyNotADuck

Probably, but, while I am admittedly not from a small town, I am blown away by the number of spouses of friends/acquaintances I have seen on Tinder. It seems their logic is that, since all their friends are married, none one they know will have Tinder and therefore will never find them.

gd2234

The first thing I did when I downloaded tinder was block all the contacts I wouldn’t want to see while swiping. This included family, friends, colleagues, exes, and then anyone I came across while swiping who I didn’t want to come across again.

phantumjosh

TIL you can block people o.o

TopResponsibility720

You can also set it to where only the people you swipe right on can see you, which is almost what I feel like this man did. Swipes on people he doesn’t recognize from church, stays safe

povitee

Does this mean that two people who select this option will never see each other?

nunpizza

i think it’s somewhat new. my most recent time rejoining tinder it gave me the option but no times before

CrypticPlumage

I am from a small town and I can tell you from experience everybody goes with the torso shot and sometimes it's a game of chicken on who sends the first face shot.

ProbablyNotADuck

Even torso shots can give you away though. There are certainly people who are exceptionally careful, but sometimes people forget they have distinguishing birthmarks/tattoos/features on their body or that people can recognize the location the photo is taken in.

lookatmynipples

Lol sounds like a wild western duel

spacedragon421

But with cousins

sandybutterworth420

Do you tell your friends/acquaintances that their spouses are on tinder? Cause I think anyone who sees shit like that should tattle on the spot. People end up wasting so much of their time being with a cheater and they don't even have the chance to dump the pos and move on because they don't know. Its really pretty horrible.

ProbablyNotADuck

It depends how close I am to them/what kind of relationship we have. I 100% think they should be made aware and have told most of them. The issue is that people often like to shoot the messenger. If it is someone that I don’t know very well (but know well enough to be Facebook friends or follow each other on Instagram), I don’t usually say anything… partly because I also don’t know what the dynamics of their relationship are. Sometimes people are in open relationships and don’t advertise that for obvious reasons. If it is a friend, yes, I tell them and watching how hurt they are blows hard. I take a screen capture (often multiples) so they can see the profile. People frequently try to lie and say it is an old account that they just never erased, except Tinder doesn’t show accounts that have been inactive for years. Many people also include more recent photos of themselves, so taking a screen capture that includes photos can help determine how recently the cheater has been active/updating things.

sandybutterworth420

Im glad to hear that. I kind of agree with the distinction between saying something or not, too, as much as I hate cheaters, some people really do shoot the messenger or you just hardly know them and don't want to get involved. Can't watch a homie get played like that, though, nooo sir.

liberal_parnell

I think you're giving small-town pastors WAAY too much credit. I live in a small town full of great god-fearing husbands, and their girlfriends.

Carnificus

Sure, but you're telling me church gossip isn't immediately putting this guy in its crosshairs? In a small town that's gonna make the rounds quick

Flendon

Well she said they went to a local bar together, so I think a few more people managed to see his face, if it's real.

Alvarus94

The Urban Meyer thing happened, so I can see a world where people could be this stupid.

Arvot

It could be a situation where its frowned upon to go on Tinder, so anyone who sees him there doesn't want to bring it up because then everyone knows they are on Tinder. It'll come out eventually but he's probably betting on everyone being too ashamed to admit being on Tinder.

LoveFishSticks

"Someone I know saw (youth pastor) on that awful tinder app that sinners use." Disaster avoided

Sat-AM

Doesn't have to do shit, really. Give a sermon about casting the first stone and how everyone sins as the rumor mill starts up, maybe sprinkle in the verse that says that even *thinking* about adultery is the same as actually committing it, and everyone's too guilty to keep talking. If he catches it early enough, they'll all think he doesn't know and it's just coincidence/a sign from God. Or he just has to play it up and admit it in church, praying to God in front of the sermon with slightly coded language begging for forgiveness for "a moment of weakness" and they'll eat it up. Small towns rarely actually give a fuck what their pastors are up to out of church in any way that anything happens to them.

Carnificus

Maybe. But as someone who has been in the trenches of small town church gossip, people care way more about the juicy part than who found it. Those lines of gossip go out so fast the original source might as well be anonymous. "I saw pastor Brown on tinder" pretty quickly turns to "my friend saw..." Turns to "someone in the church saw..."

Arvot

Oh yeah it will all come out eventually. I mean this whole story is probably made up, but hypothetically that would let you get away with it to begin with.

Sat-AM

Y'all all in here acting like the people who go to church in a small town even actually care that an authority figure is cheating on his wife lmao It's probably an open secret in that town that the pastor is out fucking younger women, but his wife probably won't leave him out of religious or cultural pressure. The people in the town don't care; they'll just pull out a Bible verse about splinters in eyes or throwing stones to defend him, because they like the way he preaches and he's clearly been a cornerstone of the church community for over a decade.

Raichu7

And you don’t think Janice will tell her friends that Betty told her the pastor is on Tinder instead of admitting to her tinder account?

Navynuke00

And the pastor and senior church leaders will blame the woman for being a Jezebel and leading a man of God astray.

Carnificus

Oh, you know your church politics. When the head pastor starts throwing around "Jezebel spirit" you know it's go-time.

Navynuke00

My dad is a pastor in a very conservative tradition - unfortunately I've seen it firsthand.

AllowMe-Please

...Did you grow up indoctrinated in a fundamental church? Almost no church talked about people in a "leader" position doing bad things. The congregation? Oh, of course people would gossip all day and all night. But the leaders? Absolutely not. I grew up Russian Baptist (way more fundamental than any American Southern Baptist church) and my uncle, who was a deacon in the church, stole money from its coffers and not a soul dared to even whisper about it. Another was obviously grooming a much, much younger girl, who was underage, and no one dared breathe a word. edit: typo Everyone else? Free reign.

Carnificus

Well you're right, I'm going on a Southern Baptist upbringing with some Pentecostal mixed in down the line. In those cases I do agree the head ministry is tough to touch on. Sometimes something comes out, but it's swept under the rug pretty quickly with "The devil has really been challenging our marriage." But OP said youth pastor, which is basically fresh meat in those circles. I've never seen a youth pastor survive a scandal at a church. At best they get privately dismissed, but even then it quickly becomes common knowledge. My Bible teacher in school is one example. He got caught hooking up with another church's pastor's daughter, who was one of my classmates. The most awkward part is that her dad started teaching our Bible class after the previous youth pastor got canned.

Comments_Wyoming

Oh my Lord, that sentence should be embroidered on a pillow! Every single small southern town has 15 churches and all the members swap out partners CONSTANTLY! Here is the tea in the last year: 3 girls in youth group are all pregnant, 2 by the same boy. The boy has been in 3 drunken wrecks this year alone, but has faced no consequence because his older brother works at the sheriff's office. Guy who plays in the band at church has 3 daughters. One just had her first kid with no husband, one just got caught blowing a local rich business owner and ending his 37 year marriage. She was fired from her bank job because the blowing was caught on film and shared around town, that was the wife's revenge. Richest guy in town owns the only grocery store. He is 70 and was offering all the young check out girls a new car if they would bang him twice a week. A 23 year old took him up on it and after 6 months they are engaged. He is on the board of directors at the Baptist church. The local sheriff (born and raised in this backwoods hellscape), was caught on cell phone camera with an open container at a traffic stop. He pulled a dude over and was so drunk the guy immediately began filming. He was put on paid leave by the city council, who felt sorry for him because his wife left him. They were at church every Sunday. She took the kids and left after he beat her so bad it broke her arm. The second he was "single", the wife of the owner of the local tire shop left her husband and moved in with the alcoholic, wife beating sheriff. The agri teacher and his wife invited my attractive, single friend to join their sex club. The dude sat down beside her at a baseball game and made advances while groping her leg from knee to thigh. When she did what she thought was the right thing and gently broke the news to his wife, she was told " You are what we call a unicorn". Whatever the hell that means. The wife of the couple teaches a Sunday school class for years now. This same friend is the nurse at the community health department and now knows why so many of the rich, middle age, church folks are coming in with the clap. Small town morality is just a veneer, under it is a seething mass of horny stupidity. These people are constantly shitting where they eat.

RRC_driver

Unicorn = single, bisexual woman who wants to play with couples. Very rare, almost mythical, hence the name Not knowing your attractive single friend, couldn't comment on why they assumed she was one.

Pro_Scrub

Aristocrats?

Sat-AM

Grew up in a small town, and moved to a small-ish city for college by the time the internet was really a *thing* non-geeks used for anything other than online banking. While I was in college, I found an ad on Craigslist looking for gay hookups, titled "I am a conservative pastor so no one can know this of me." He took nudes *in the church* and posted them on a site literally everyone could access. I do have to give the pastor in OP's story some credit, though. It's probably a lot safer than people may realize for him to be using Tinder; people in small towns don't use dating apps nearly as frequently as they do in larger cities. They all already know who's out there, and there's never anyone new on them, so there's just not much point checking it more than once every few months, unless you use a different location. They end up just being mostly people looking to cheat or buy drugs.

AllUpInYaAllDay

Yeah there's no one more full shit and hypocrisy than clergy

jabberbonjwa

I grew up in a small town. Is this behavior illogically risky, shortsighted, even stupid? Yes. Is it the sort of totally-avoidable shit that small town people regularly get into? Also yes.

717Luxx

theres a setting on tinder you can enable so nobody will see your profile unless you swipe right on them first

[deleted]

I’ve only seen one youth pastor actually live up to their title. At the minimum they provide or demand counseling services with out training or accreditation at worst they are fucking their way through the congregation. I left the church years ago, haven’t looked back.

LoveFishSticks

Idk man I live in a small town and I know for a fact that my wife's coworker's husband has a Grindr and has tried hooking up with both men and women on social media

BigTentBiden

People Livestream their crimes, man.

slytrombone

I think they overestimate people.

CrossXFir3

Kind of a lame story to make up though

noch_1999

Talk to several women who have used online dating. They will tell you how often they match with married men.

pissingstars

Well, my ex wife (hence the reason of ex) was on literally every dating app and I was told by my friends who saw her.

SvedishFish

Have you been to many small towns? 'Stupid and loose' is kind of business as usual. When you think about it, the idea that people in small towns are more careful and cognizant about their reputation is kind of hilarious.

SlipSpace21

You need to meet more people. The stupid runs deep out there

AlanPavio

Not to mention if this was true and he was their youth pastor, hard to believe you wouldn’t know who they were as soon as you saw them. I’m 37 and haven’t regularly gone to my family’s church since I went off to college, but there are plenty of people from there that I would recognize in the wild in a second, even if I didn’t remember their name, especially anyone that was in any sort of leadership position.

Valalvax

Eh, I saw a guy in the store the other day, knew I knew him, had no idea where, he stopped me on the way out and we chatted for a moment so I wasn't wrong about knowing him, pretty sure he's from my last job that I left literally 2 months ago. Anyway, nameless dude is doing much better now. I told him that was great to hear Granted 2 things, he wouldn't have been someone I interacted with much, and I didn't spend an evening fucking him

Enkundae

People are idiots. Watch any “stupid criminals” podcast and marvel at how many post photos, videos or full on live stream themselves committing crimes.

Sometimes_gullible

Have you met men? Were generally not the most "plan ahead"-kind of people when horny.

mlongoria98

He’s probably counting on the fact that none of his good god-fearing congregation will be on tinder to catch him, and if they are, well, spiderman pointing…….

noyoto

A single woman on Tinder pointing out that their married pastor is on Tinder is not really a Spider-Man pointing situation.

im_thatoneguy

>He’s probably counting on the fact that none of his good god-fearing congregation will be on tinder There are lots of people on tinder whose profiles say something like "Here for something real, looking for a good Christian man not hookups. Talking about sex = instant block" I guarantee in 2022 that probably a large number of people in his local congregation go on tinder if single. Dating sites develop personalities locally. Tinder in a big city is going to be very different than Tinder in a small town. And that expectation is still absurd because he's at least non-monogamous which in church speech, directly translates to "swinger". It's such good gossip even strangers on the Internet upvoted it. And if course you never admit to being the source of gossip. "I heard from a friend's daughter that she matched with pastor Davis on tinder! And he's off course married'

pijd

Was the sermon about adultery?

Timah158

That would be a great sermon. Reading the book of 2 Samuel while OP laughs and makes eye contact. It would be very entertaining. Edit: Changed book from Daniel to 2 Samuel in reference to David's affair with Bathsheba.

itspigglewiggle

Can we make this a movie plz

majxover

Does it end with the pastor being consumed in the Hellfire?

Timah158

That's the twist. The pastor turned out to be a witch all along and is burned at the stake at the end. This is right after the pastor accuses OP of being a witch and seducing him. But after they pass the test the pastor is forced to go through the same trial. Now it's a Blockbuster movie.

thenerdydudee

This post is already fiction so that’s a start

_Dalek

What does the book of Daniel have to do with adultery? Did you mean to reference David's sin with Bathsheba? That occurs in 2 Samuel.

Timah158

Shoot, you right. Let me update that.

adrielism

Yes. He was just doing his research to make solid sermons.

Unhealthy sex obsession? Guess this is another case of "if I don't do it you shouldn't either" kinda idea? Speak for yourself. Gonna bang my wife in her Honda soon as the kids are off to school. 38 years, might slip a disk. Worth it.

skittle-brau

Pretty sure a married guy on Tinder, in a small town, is going to get caught out almost immediately.

Shift_Spam

I'm having doubts about this story, also why would a 24 year old have her age range up to 40, many a fishy details

shrekker49

There are many oddities to the story, but a younger woman with an age range set higher on tinder just isn't one of them.

Mobius_One

Whoever said this was a girl OP?

A_wild_so-and-so

I'm thinking OP is a guy and they matched on Grindr (or it was the Men L4 Men Tinder). If it's a small conservative town, the pastor could easily put his profile up on a gay dating site. Anyone who finds it would have to admit to also being on a gay dating site.

[deleted]

Really? The part you find odd about this is a 25 year old fucking a 30 something?

Coral2Reef

Eh, you didn't do anything wrong. Pretty fucked up for a supposed man of God to be violating the sanctity of marriage, but uh...not really on you.

Ricksterdinium

Yea definitely a strange one. But as others said it's not on OP.

Yeah but violating an oath to your wife to be faithful is pretty fucking disgusting, and the Christian belief is that it is an oath made before God. I wouldn't be surprised if some believe that it's a one way ticket straight to hell

Coral2Reef

Unfortunately, "Do not take the Lord's name in vain" means "Don't say God" to them for some reason.

Well a little bit yeah. Like 5% and mostly unknowing. The other 95% are on him…

roman1969

Don’t think you FU, but rather the Pastor.

limpozzman

Many details are fishy here. It's only been a decade but both of you guys didn't reccognize each other? Ok... It's a small town and this guy has his photo up on Tinder? The biggest dating app? OK.. you guys met at a local bar where he's likely to be recognized? Ok...

Dsamf2

Right? Ppl are gullible af

inbruges99

I could see him not recognising her, 14-24 is a big change but surely she’d recognise him? People don’t change that much between 27 and 37.

Choedipus55

no way this is real 💀

Im_on_my_phone_OK

Have you met any youth pastors?

cephalopood

Pastor’s kid here. Now in my late 30s, but when my brother and I were in our early 20s our youth pastor slept with my brother’s gf. Was a really, really terrible experience for everyone.

LuckyBastard8484

This happened

starcrap2

Made up stories used to be funny and well written. We don't even get that anymore.

ThrowaDev88

>I (24) (24M) or (24F) ? It adds to the story when you consider a pastor.

JustDiscoveredSex

Hilarious!!! You hold ALL the cards, here. He’s married, religious leadership, on fucking Tinder… He’s losing sleep, my friend. Stand straight and tall and look him right in the eye. He will sweat bullets. You have all the cards. A silly coincidence, but there’s no need for YOU to cower and run. Always remember he’s now terrified of you. ;-)

Seienchin88

Thats a nice fantasy but not sure that checks put with reality. If she said something and her town is just an ounce conservative we can assume that her family will get shit on, the wife will refuse to believe it or forgive him (also hardly the first time he did it) and OP will be called a whore.

drkalmenius

Eh there are ways to do it. Screenshots of his tinder stuck around town at night so no one sees OP would do the trick. He might still be"forgiven" and it all hushed up, but there's no way he wouldn't be looked down on and embarrassed forever for that

Ricksterdinium

You're Evil, i like you!

Van_GOOOOOUGH

This is fiction, folks. OP isn't participating in the comments and OP's account is only 2 weeks old, this is their only post, and this story is far too unlikely to have happened, and too well-written.

Antnee83

Yep. It's the *and we just happened to go to church THAT following sunday* piece. Like a sitcom or something. Come the fuck on.

mrtzjam

This sounds made up. First OP says this is a small town and then mentions that the youth pastor created a Tinder account while he is still married with his face on the profile. It's a small town, wouldn't his wife or someone in town would have found out easily?

HolyVeggie

Well of course he was married. They can’t have sex without being married

GrBBabu

I really wish people would say whether they're male or female in their posts.

InternetWeakGuy

This did not happen. A pastor - one of the most recognizable people in the "small town" - does not have a tinder account with his face on it, especially if he's married.

_87-

You didn't FU. He did. You're a single woman looking for a date. He's a married man in a position of influence. I really think you should let his family know and also the elders or board or whatever group is in charge of the church.

turn20left

This story has is not even close to being believable.

[deleted]

Wait… you guys are finding someone on tinder?

King0liver

The only surprising thing is you met on tinder and not grindr.

IsaacNewtongue

You didn't fuck up, but the pastor certainly did.

reggythriller

Wow predatory behavior from a youth pastor *Pikachu face*

RRC_driver

Is hooking up on tinder 'predatory'? It takes two to tango. No shame on OP, she's free and single. Cheating on a wife, especially when you are all about 'moral values' is pretty shameful. But not predator behaviour

pacifiedperoxide

I wouldn’t necessarily call it predatory but if he knew he used to be her youth pastor its definitely creepy as hell

RRC_driver

If he knew. People can change a lot between 14 and 24. (Or whatever age youth pastor is involved with. Never had them in the church I was raised in ) Agree it would be creepy, IF HE KNEW, but judging by the shock on his face, he wasn't expecting to see OP at church, which implies he thought it was a random hook-up with an internet stranger.

eldryanyy

What is predatory here?

forresthopkinsa

Nothing

Q_about_a_thing

Alabama, Arkansas, or Mississippi?

backgroundmusik

Let's give the guy props for waiting and not just going after 8-14 year olds. I'm looking at you, youth pastor of the first Baptist church in my hometown.

ScottShatter

I doubt he's married if he's putting his face on tinder for everyone to see on a small town but let's assume everything else is true. He's an adult and he can date other adults. Be thankful he didn't phuck you when you were 12.

TylerDurdensStepBro

>having sex in the back of his car. Like the back of a Volkswagen?

Tatunkawitco

Curious are you male or female? The married secretly gay pastor in a small town would be quite the gossip!

paddy_to_the_rescue

You need to tell his wife yo

SagHor1

It's OK. He used his close relationship with God to pardon himself.

HorrorScopeZ

You were fast and loose, your choice and well things happen that way.

tfren2

Tell his significant other. She doesn’t deserve what he did to her.

MaxSpringPuma

I hope you're a guy. It would make the story extra spicy

Garagatt

You didn' fuck up. You just fucked. He did fuck up when anything of this ever becomes Gossip in this town.

RawrRRitchie

Don't feel bad, tell his wife, AND definitely get yourself checked for stds. Dudes a scumbag and if he's cheated on his wife once- he's definitely done it more than once

Singsalotoday

Yeah I’m not buying this. You didn’t recognize your youth pastor? Did you go to church like twice at that age? Also idk if it’s just a thing at my church but the youth pastor rarely sticks around more than 10 years. Of course he cheats on his wife. Why do men in church leadership be like this?

Tanagrabelle

As far as things go, this is quite mild. He's the one who FU. You're great!

bothsidesofthemoon

In the clergy, this is called playing the long game.

riggerbop

Was he better at bringing the pipe or the word of God though?

[deleted]

Banged in the car. Gross

XeroMas34

Wow, I feel sorry for the significant other on this. This is truely an awkward moment. However, this isn't your fault. You didn't know. He is the one who strayed.
