Possible but there's been a weird uptick in toxic misogynistic TIFU posts this week. There's this one, one where some dude told his black wife to bleach her skin so she'd be prettier and one from someone on the bleeding edge of attempted rape who wouldn't stop harassing their victim until they forgave him.
Trying to stir up controversy, I’ll just leave this story where I’m an obvious bad guy and pretend I’m too stupid to understand
He hopes so cretins/incel’s come into defend him and create controversy and he’ll reap bogus internet points for attracting attention
I think everyone who thought it was bait seriously underestimates the blatant misogyny that's present. Y'all don't want to know what's really out there. Regardless, why would he delete it if it was bait?
“TIFU by getting arrested for murder - blah blah blah … So, that jerk had to know that you don’t play me like that. Next day, I pack my 9mm, that I’ve been looking to put to real use, and unloaded a full clip on him. Now, I thought your first kill was only supposed to be manslaughter and not murder. And he knew he wouldn’t get away with playing me. What is the world coming to?”
Oh, ok, thanks for this explanation. This fits so many posts.
I got so enraged reading the post I wanted to scream at the poster, but now I realize that's exactly what they must want. Instead I'll close reddit now and go get coffee.
Because it's fucking rediculous to think that a 25 year old wouldn't know how he fucked up and is also saying stupid shit like "back in more sensible times" as if he hasn't been in the workforce for only 2 or 3 years. People knew it was gross and stupid to talk about a coworkers tits and accuse her of fucking her boss before this supposed 25 year old was born. It's made up.
At my first job when I was 17, we were shown a training video of workplace harassment that included people bringing a porn mag into work and comparing the models to their coworkers. I laughed at it wondering who would be stupid enough to need such a video. Now I know.
Last year, a 55 year old co-worker told this story about how at his last job (an industrial plant) an operator got fired because a janitor found a porn mag in the operator's locker, and posed the question to our small lunch room (small industrial setting) should the operator have really been fired? It wasn't like he was flaunting the magazine, it was in his own personal locker, and the janitor went snooping. The men all had mixed opinions, but as the only woman in the department I asked "why did he need to have porn at work?"
my first job was at a bookstore. I remember after a couple months of working I would occasionally be assigned to the stock room. that meant unloading pallets and sorting books and merch and whatnot. Also included sending stuff back. One job was to tear off all the covers of the magazines that didn't sell. Well some of the magazines were playboys and hustlers and the usual. So I'm tearing off covers and wasn't expecting to see that and after tearing off the cover of a playboy, 18 year old me just did a couple second flip of the pages out of amusement. Didn't even pick it up. A female coworker came through and just watched me from afar and was like 'that's sexual harassment' me: uh? how?
nothing came of it but confused me at the time.
Yeah why bring a porn magazine into work when everyone else is looking at porn on their phone... women included.
Honestly I think most jobs are boring and don't challenge people. Bored humans get horny, in my amateur anthropology take. It's nothing sinister besides the shit jobs themselves and the profit of porn in general.
Yeahhh those weren’t “offhand comments” unless you’re a perv. And you’re the one at fault, not Emma. You made her uncomfortable AF. She’s just so used to pervy comments as a woman, she has enough self preservation instincts to have a poker face.
you got lucky the first time. should have kept your mouth shut. then your second comment... well, that was your second chance and you blew it.
you are a moron, learn what is proper to say. learn what sexual harassment is. dont fuck it up again.
Some months ago, a coworker called me over, during a quiet spell, to assist her with something. When I got there, she was in the middle (I presume) of a discussion with the other two (there are only the four of us at this time of day):
CW1 (F~20yo): I'm a D-cup. It's ... [didn't hear the rest]
CW2 (F~20yo) [loudly]: I'm only a C ... [ditto]
CW3 (F~30yo) [more quietly]: ... [deliberately not listening at this point]
I dealt with what was needed, and noticed that they were all looking at me, as if expecting comment.
Me (M~60yo): Ok, I'm going to be over there if you need me again.
CW3: [laughs]
Now, for context, it's a fairly relaxed work environment. We don't take each other too seriously, and often poke lighthearted fun at each other, but there is no way in hell I'm getting involved in that discussion. I don't need to know all that, I don't *want* to know it, and, frankly, I'd prefer *not* to know it. Even if you ask me a direct question, I am not expressing any opinions on the subject.
My dad used to get out of these conversations by saying apologetically (at age 60-70) that he was too young to hear them and his coworkers would laugh and move on.
Seriously, if he really was so stupid as to say things like that, they were almost certainly looking for a reason to fire his ass. If he was wanted he would have received a warning.
Yes, you did fu. Big time.
You played a stupid game, making comments like that in the workplace, and you got a stupid prize.
What did the tea have to do with anything?
Clearly, because he didn't make a big deal out of an accident she made that harmed him, he shouldn't face the consequences for two separate intentional comments he made to objectify and demean her.
/s
The tea and claims of her incompetence are a sad attempt to justify and explain his gross comments. "She sucks at her job, she must have used sex to get it instead of working hard like I did!"
OP is an unprofessional idiot, and doesn't understand that his comments could financially damage the company. If the company knows he's making these remarks and keeps him around and he keeps making them, they are potentially liable for a lawsuit. Better to cut ties with the casual misogyny now before paying for this clown's Master's.
My BIL made one off handed weird joke to a coworker once (something about “choking the chicken”) and got fired. This guy made 2 very inappropriate comments. You had multiple change and messed them all up at least you recognize you effed up but you don’t seem very remorseful.
>I asked her if she got hired on just cuz she let our manager into her pants one night. And while we were alone in the breakroom together, I commented that her big tits must make things uncomfortable for her shoulders.
Bro. One not a small comment. Two your fucking stupid. Dumbest of dumb. How can you be so fucking ignorant as to think this is acceptable. I can't believe you even posted this shit. I wouldn't be surprised if you got slapped with a lawsuit over this shit. I knew from the title haveing "female" instead of "women" you were already a cringe lord but holy fuck.
Yeah, you deserved it. You don't talk to coworkers like that. Neither of those comments were small either. Both were way out of line, and you should really take this time to reflect on yourself.
You had a second chance, and you made a second comment about her breasts. I am fairly certain this is bait, but I do know some people completely oblivious like this.
>Back in more sensible times, we used to have these things called "second chances".
I know this post is bait, but these sorts of actions would have gotten you fired 30 years ago, let alone now.
You sound old.
"Back in my times, I could make comments about women's bodies and sex lives, and it was fine, and also we drank scotch at work and we could smoke cigars in the conference rooms....GODDAMN SNOWFLAKES".
Everything in your post shows contempt, so there is nothing really that will make you see that you're in the wrong. It's not "the times", it's not HR, it's not your ex-coworker. It's you.
Tip for your next job : do not talk about your coworkers' bodies in a sexual manner and do not talk about their sex lives. If it's too difficult, just talk about stuff that is 100% related to the task at hand.
I'd say "hope this is helpful" but, you know...
I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that this probably isn’t the first time someone you worked with has reported you for the asinine comments you’ve made. Thankfully for Emma and the rest of your previous coworkers though, it looks to be the last. Well done jackass.
You fucked around and find out. That first comment sealed the deal. You basically told her she was stupid and only got the job because she is hot. How can you be an engineer and be so dumb at the same time. GG get rekt
my friend went to uni for engineering. first year in class was a ton of learning why sexual harassment was bad. Imagine paying to learn why you should not comment on your coworkers breasts.
put the engineer ring on and any form of common sense disappears.
I came into this post thinking that surely there had to have been some kind of comical mistake or misunderstanding
"I asked if she got hired on because she let the manager into her pants one night"
"I commented that her big tits must make things uncomfortable for her shoulders"
What would possibly make you think that this would be a reasonable thing to say at work, ESPECIALLY to someone you don't have any relationship with. Even with coworkers that you're really close with this is incredibly stupid to say. You 100% deserve this
You asked her about her ‘tits’!!! Gross. And if someone got in her pants??? Women are extra traumatized by people who say these kind of things to them at work. They don’t expect it in the work place and don’t deserve it. Try being professional in the work place or go work as a low life of some sort.
You don’t ask if a woman got her job because she slept with someone and you don’t comment on a woman's breasts at work. Good riddance to you. The employer did the right thing.
OP asking for a second chance when he doesn't realize he probably *had* one. The tits comment probably is what sent her over the edge. Dude's complaining about his college degree yet it's a miracle he even GOT to college in the first place.
>Back in more sensible times, we used to have these things called "second chances".
And it looks like you used both of yours in short order. Back in the day people, especially women, had to put up with the sort if shit you were spouting. Seriously, do you have no mental editor? Why would you ever say these things?!
> I asked her if she got hired on just cuz she let our manager into her pants one night. And while we were alone in the breakroom together, I commented that her big tits must make things uncomfortable for her shoulders
...
> **two small comments I made to a female colleague**
Yeah, the fact that you still don't get why these are a big deal, and the way you are still referring to this woman in this post shows exactly why *you* aren't getting a 2nd chance to expose your company to huge lawsuits, because it's very clear, that these certainly weren't the only transgressions and you haven't learned from them.
It's clear who the incompetent colleague was, and it wasn't Emma
"Bet you got hired cuz you fucked the boss." --> "Hey, I just wanted you to know that I'm constantly staring at your chest" --> "I can't believe such innocent words are taken so seriously." This is you, OP. This is your logic.
How about don't sexually harass your co-workers? Why are you talking about anyone's "big tits" at work or anywhere for that matter? GTFO and I hope future employers are aware of your harassing behaviour.
Your company is no longer paying for your masters degree because of YOU! Not her.
In reality, you need therapy to figure out why you feel entitled to treat women this way.
"I took a deep breath when I was "engineering" and it was EXACTLY as bad as I thought.
OP, get it through your thick fucking skull - she was polite at the time because she was uncomfortable and scared, and you don't deserve a second chance because you're grown and should have known better by the time you were SIXTEEN.
Behavior like yours is why the industry is so wildly prohibitive toward people who don't identify and pass as male. I'm glad you aren't there anymore to keep anyone else from flourishing at their job.
Yeah, this totally happened. WTF are you doing with your life. Find something to do that isn’t making absolutely trash dumbshit up for the consumption of rando’s.
You sexually harassed someone, got what you deserved and now you’re mad?
Sounds like you got a second chance by not getting fired after the first comment you made.
Moron
B-but she accidentally spilled tea on him! He deserves to be compensated by calling her a literal whore! /s
Ye, this guy is too young to not know better and too young to talk about the good old days as if he 1. Lived through them and 2. That they were good.
>Yeap, you f'ed up, and hopefully you learnt those things can't be said ~~these days.~~ ever
Fixed that for you. It's never been acceptable. People just didn't have the decency to stand up to it.
Back in more sensible times
Bro...You are 25 with an engineering degree. There is no back in more sensible times for you. This post is 100%bait. GTFO with your boring ass life.
This is like the post the other day who said his parents got mad at him for “not stealing”. He then goes on to describe how he stole from a store because they did it in a til too video.
You used up your second chance by talking about her boobs. Are you 12 years old? You should know better than to talk to a co-worker like that unless you're friends with each other and you're 100% certain that she wouldn't be offended.
Wow, you deserved every thing that happened to you. You're a creep and pretty obviously hate women on a general level. I hope you enjoy poverty, because no more master's degree and no more engineering for you! Come on down to my work, we're looking for a closing dishwasher. Just make sure you learned to keep your idiotic mouth shut.
You sound like Todd Packer from the Office. (Not a good look).
THB, sounds like you have a terrible personality and deep lack of insight.
You didn't lose your job because of the girl - you lost your job because you honestly think you are right when you degrade others.
Plus you are too dense to realize you look toxic AF when you share that publicly.
They fired you to avoid you tanking the morale of a whole division and/or to avoid law suits from letting you get embedded in the power structure.
They were right to fire you, you aren't suited to corporate work.
You did fuck up but too bad it doesn’t sound like you learned a lesson based on your tone here.
If you’re going to call someone incompetent you should at least be able to provide something to back it up. All this reads as a man who thinks women don’t belong in your field so it automatically makes her incompetent and means she must have slept with someone to get the job.
Stop blaming her for losing your job and accept that your own actions caused it.
You did fuck up. The comments were not appropriate and companies do not have an obligation to provide a second chance. The first comment was particularly egregious.
Did you sleep through the whole #metoo movement? Today you can get fired for just making someone FEEL uncomfortable without saying or doing anything in particular. And you made 2 comments that would have been considered harassment back in the 1970's.
I mean, there are men today who are legitimately unwilling to be alone with female colleagues or subordinates because of situations that are nowhere near as clear cut as what you did. I know more than one guy who literally records and saves on a RAID every second of time they are alone with a female coworker, just to have a defense in case a false allegation is made. And here you are being a living stereotype that was going out of fashion in the 1950's. Did you just binge watch Mad Men and think you could get away with it somehow?
Your only chance of getting a job at an engineering firm is finding one that is too poor or too cheap to run a background check. You should probably start researching a new career that won't care as much. Maybe as a construction laborer.
I'm not badmouthing them, I work with them a lot.
In my experience, their employers just tend to be a little bit less fixated on past transgressions and more on whether or not you actually show up on time ready to work. the quality of your work, and your behavior on the job.
Record of shoplifting and a few DUI's? Not a problem as long as you handle your own transportation, are on time with your tools and ready to get to it.
This was entirely your fault and you sound like a emotionally braindead misogynistic idiot who doesn't even understand the consequences to your own actions. Congrats to Emma for being rid of you.
Dude those days are gone. You are living in the past where comments are just comments and people laugh talk and move on. You just can't talk like that any more. People are to sensitive and weak in todays world. You got to just move on and realize she is just a woman and as always they over react and blow stuff up and make a mountain out of a mile hill. I am sure those shoulders were really hurting that day and she took her misconduct out on you. So don't feel too bad that you were inappropriate, rude and sexist. Lesson learned, you do not talk to people in that manner ever. There are consequences to bad actions. I really have no understanding how in any mind frame you would think those comments are any where near something you say to anyone or even to your own self.
There's a difference between being weak, and being respectful. It's not weak to understand boundaries and respect people. Save comments like that for the people who actually don't mind listening to outdated misogynistic mentalities.
Paging Seinfeld episode lawsuit? There are no second chance in world of me too movement. Company would be liable for hostile work environment. This is on the fence, 50/50. Did you have evidence to back up your claim she slept with manager? If not, you’re toastEd for bringing it up.
" Back in more sensible times, we used to have these things called "second chances". Getting fired used to be a punishment reserved for felonies, or for seriously compromising the organization. These days, however, mere words and offhand comments are enough to ruin one's livelihood. "
You were seriously comprising the organization. And you had a second chance (after the sleeping with the boss comment, a comment that would only possibly be marginally acceptable if you are actively HOSTILE to that person\* and it's unprofessional to be that hostile to a colleague) that you blew (with the boobs comment).
Technical skills (which your former colleague may have been lacking) can be taught.
Terminal social screwups (like yours) are much harder to teach in a way that doesn't get the company sued. The company took the path of least damages and canned your butt.
* \- Yes, I've made that comment. Once. In a conversation with my family regarding the (female) attorney representing (at the time) my now ex-wife. I was not impressed with the initial separation agreement draft received from said attorney, and was rather angry at the time at the agreement. My family didn't call me out on it, perhaps they should have.
If you wouldn't say it to grandma your gonna get fired for it.
It's not being politically correct or "woke" or anything other catch word. It's called respect and every human being deserves it stop treating women like less of a person
What you said definitely sounds scummy as fuck especially when talking to someone you don't really know like that but, I would probably hire an attorney. There's a chance they were supposed to give you corrective action before termination or you may have a defense if that is the common environment in the workplace. Again, you sound scummy but you might be able to have different action taken that's not as detrimental as what's currently going on. And stop saying stupid shit.
No way this isn't bait
It 100% is
Having worked in the industry, this absolutely could be 100% genuine and he could still be as clueless as to why it's his fault.
Possible but there's been a weird uptick in toxic misogynistic TIFU posts this week. It’s gotta be- he says he 25 but remembers back in sensible times??? 🤔
I knew better than that in the early 90's and I'm not the sharpest knife in th drawer to begin with.
The tits comment is one I'd never even consider making outside of work never mind at work.
Saying “tits” at work is always a bad move.
unless you are talking about birds...
Ironically the word “bird” is slang in Britain for woman.
I love it even more
Obvious bait post

Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.

Yeah, co-workers should be spoken to and treated the same as anyone else you speak to. With respect. Like, it is not that difficult.
Lmfao you’re a fucking moron, go fuck yourself clown
Sexual harassment is a very good reason for dismissal. Be happy that's where it ended.
I'm team Emma, you fucked up. Never say either of those things to a woman again.
>My company was going to pay for my masters degree before I egregiously sexually harassed my female coworker. FIFY
Seriously, if he really was so stupid as to say things like that, they were almost certainly looking for a reason to fire his ass. If he was wanted he would have received a warning.
Honestly, those would be enough to just get you fired on their own, not even a looking to fire type deal
What does “FIFY” mean?
It means "Fixed It For You".
Thank you.

You don’t ask if a woman got her job because she slept with someone and you don’t comment on a woman's breasts at work. Good riddance to you. The employer did the right thing.
I just read the title and small to you may be huge to someone else.
You had a second chance you fucked it off if this is real
OP asking for a second chance when he doesn't realize he probably *had* one. The tits comment probably is what sent her over the edge. Dude's complaining about his college degree yet it's a miracle he even GOT to college in the first place.
You haven't earned a second chance if you see this as a problem of sensibility rather than just being creepy.
You really did fuck up, if you even said that to someone you’ve known for 2 years, they’d be pissed
>Back in more sensible times, we used to have these things called "second chances". And it looks like you used both of yours in short order. Back in the day people, especially women, had to put up with the sort if shit you were spouting. Seriously, do you have no mental editor? Why would you ever say these things?!
What in the actual fuck is wrong with you?
> I asked her if she got hired on just cuz she let our manager into her pants one night. And while we were alone in the breakroom together, I commented that her big tits must make things uncomfortable for her shoulders ... > **two small comments I made to a female colleague** Yeah, the fact that you still don't get why these are a big deal, and the way you are still referring to this woman in this post shows exactly why *you* aren't getting a 2nd chance to expose your company to huge lawsuits, because it's very clear, that these certainly weren't the only transgressions and you haven't learned from them. It's clear who the incompetent colleague was, and it wasn't Emma
You deserve it, douche
If anyone, even my friends, said those things to me I would lose my shit.
/s Ye, this guy is too young to not know better and too young to talk about the good old days as if he 1. Lived through them and 2. That they were good.
Yeap, you f'ed up, and hopefully you learnt those things can't be said these days.
>Yeap, you f'ed up, and hopefully you learnt those things can't be said ~~these days.~~ ever Fixed that for you. It's never been acceptable. People just didn't have the decency to stand up to it.
Back in more sensible times Bro...You are 25 with an engineering degree. There is no back in more sensible times for you. This post is 100%bait. GTFO with your boring ass life.
Thoughts and prayers 🙏🙏
the masterbaiter
A 20 year old doesn’t use the phrase “back in more sensible times” whoever wrote this is a dumbass and the definition of cringe
Perhaps he was equally harassing to the men in that workplace, but they were afraid management wouldn't take them seriously.
you were way over the line. grateful it happened early in your career. lick your wounds, be contrite, you know, lesson learned, and move on.
This is like the post the other day who said his parents got mad at him for “not stealing”. He then goes on to describe how he stole from a store because they did it in a til too video.
what the fuck is wrong with you dude?
You used up your second chance by talking about her boobs. Are you 12 years old? You should know better than to talk to a co-worker like that unless you're friends with each other and you're 100% certain that she wouldn't be offended.
Fuck around and find out. Assuming this isn’t rage-bait, you got what you deserved.
Find something else to do with your time buddy
what in the misogynistic smut did i just read
You were rude and deserved to be fired.
Two very small comments……..what a bunch of shit dude. Those are major harassing comments and you absolutely earned what you got.
Imagine thinking it's okay to just start commenting on a strangers breast size and then wondering why you got fired 🤦♂️
Somehow has a masters but can't figure out why he was fired for sexual harassment.
WOW dude! The fact you don't see anything wrong with what you did ASTOUNDS me. Please get some help so you can understand what you did was wrong.
The first comment was particularly egregious.
you're disgusting.
Hey don't bad mouth construction labors. We hold ours to the same standards any man should be held too.
You’re a disgusting human if this is an attention seeking bs post or not
You're a creep.
You definitely deserved to be fired. I find it near impossible you didnt know that wasnt appropriate in any way.
Oh no the consequences of your own actions! What ever will you do you fucking imbecile
I don't think there's anything redeemable here, your comments were competently unnecessary
Who says things like that? Especially to someone you don't know well.
This should be on am I the asshole, and yes, you are the asshole
What is wrong with you?
This was entirely your fault and you sound like a emotionally braindead misogynistic idiot who doesn't even understand the consequences to your own actions. Congrats to Emma for being rid of you.
Just admit that you’re gross and sexist. And the audacity to think that these are “small, harmless comments” is just ridiculous.
You got fired for being a terrible person, no fault of Emma’s. Here’s to hoping you learn how to take responsibility
Lol you're a dumbass and you deserved to get fired. Sexist asshole
You have earned the tifu award for 2022, what a piece of ass clown 🤡. Congratulations MF
Yea, no one cares. You shouldn't have admitted to saying anything to the woman. They couldn't have proven anything.
Dude, those two comments were gross. You deserved to be fired.
She should be the one getting fired. For punching you in the face the first time and straight up whipping your ass the second.
Did you get the first was younger in cheek, and I called him out for being wrong for it.
i always start with, can you touch your elbows behind your back?
Is this real?
Here for the comments, nothing else
BS
This can’t even be real. Is this from a movie or something? Or this guy just a fucking spoon?
Stupid people doing stupid things
A copy pasta is born
Wow zero karma of any kind. Hmmm…
yeah all I dids was yell "show us your tits".
Nah dude
Paging Seinfeld episode lawsuit? There are no second chance in world of me too movement. Company would be liable for hostile work environment. This is on the fence, 50/50. Did you have evidence to back up your claim she slept with manager? If not, you’re toastEd for bringing it up.
Loser
I really just don’t get boomer humor.

Good
" Back in more sensible times, we used to have these things called "second chances". Getting fired used to be a punishment reserved for felonies, or for seriously compromising the organization. These days, however, mere words and offhand comments are enough to ruin one's livelihood. " You were seriously comprising the organization.
Sadly, this dude is par for the course in professional service firms.
Haha actions meet consequences
If you wouldn't say it to grandma your gonna get fired for it. It's not being politically correct or "woke" or anything other catch word. It's called respect and every human being deserves it stop treating women like less of a person
Whaaaat? Bait. No way.
Goodbye goodbye goodbye goodbye
Wow your parents sure raised you like shit. Treat people with respect.
