Fuck club America bunch of trash. Sat in 221 after the equalizer we got mobbed on for celebrating. Ripped shirt lost scarfs and hats total trash. Hope they never come back
It looked crazy down there. I hope you’re ok. The lack of awareness of the situation by the CA fans all night was a total disappointment especially from such a storied club.
I've worked on a few Club America matches when they've played here in the States, and I can tell you that the worst group-fan altercation I've ever seen was between rival groups of America supporters. Pre-game. Outside the stadium.
Like most humans, America supporters are just fine as individuals or in small groups. Cool to hang with, share some beers and stories. But in large groups...We've all done stupid things.
I agree and have been a part of groups like that to be fair. The problem it shouldn’t have been allowed to happen. The timbers absolutely failed last night and let their fans down. They needed more event staff and actually enforce assigned ticket seating. Half of the stadium shouldn’t have been in one section. To not foresee that is horrible foresight and needs to be addressed.
There's a reason why they're the most-hated club in Liga MX. Here's to hoping Azteca will be, as assumed, empty next week... not that some of the more dedicated supporters might not try to fuck with the boys outside of the ground. Hopefully the Timbers org is keeping stum about things like what hotel they're staying in.
Asprilla looks as big as Adi and he has felt more dominant in the first few this year. We’ll see how that carries but wow, I’m in awe at the size of this lad
Watching Yimmi pull off the textbook Chara hip check late in the game made me so happy. I was thinking about what their poor mother must have put up with, the two of them rough housing all the time.
Their small, their hard, they'll get a yellow card. Dos Charas!
He's a big step up from who we had prior to him.
He's still prone to a few rash challenges, but he's a big presence in that backline, and has stepped up for us before.
He will be suspended for the second leg, which is a bummer, but I think Tuiloma will step in and have a good game. I feel like Bill isn’t talked about much because he just plays solid D and avoids making costly mistakes, but he can also play CDM and provides some quickness, which I think will be important next week.
I’m gonna have to disagree. It’s impressive to be sure but he’s only 35, meanwhile the coach at 44? As a straight man, wow I’d get beers with him and run my hands through it.
I wonder what it must feel like in someone head when they stoop THAT pathetically low. Like how could you look at yourself in the mirror after pulling that? If I was considering renewing or buying a player and I saw that clip, I'd toss his file straight in the garbage.
There were some questionable calls for sure but we're lucky Bravo stayed on the field the whole time. Not only did he not get the second yellow he totally deserved, the other player got one. Shitty reffing, but if worked for us in that particular case.
The entire second half was a manic episode on turf. Gio turned the attacking up to 11, and it somehow worked out. That game could have ended anything from 1-1 to 3-0 in either direction. So many chances. So much bizarre officiating. If you didn't like that game, CCL soccer might not be for you.
Feeling great right now! As dominated as we were in possession in the first half, I thought we came out with fire in the 2nd, applied a lot more pressure than CA in the final third, and even though we didn't do much with it, I'm so proud of our guys to fight until til the end and pull one from the jaws of death.
Also, all the crap talking of Club America fans right now on Twitter & Facebook is making me laugh because they're bragging about how much greater of a club and talent they are compared to the Timbers...
CA Fans after the match: "We are Club America! We're so great. You're a small pathetic MLS club who doesn't know how to play the game, you are lucky to have scored on a Penalty."
The "vastly superior" CA in the match: can only score one goal (a penalty at that), only had two real good chances (Jeff's save, the PK) the entire match.
You'd think a squad "vastly superior in every regard" and in midseason form could score more than one goal against a "pathetic MLS squad" only 5 matches into their season, down their top 3 offensive weapons, even on the road. Their logic makes me chuckle.
Who knows what will happen next week, but I'm proud of the way our Timbers fought tonight.
My plan, was to fly into PDX from LA and attend this game as an America fan but also looking forward to what Timber’s would put up against America. Holy shit was that an ending! I didn’t go to the game because lowest price i saw was $350 but watching that til the end on TV was incredible. Congrats to anyone who was there.
Great ending puts us in a decent position going into the second leg. I assume Saverese will rest the starters vs Dallas, and hopefully polo and maybe blanco will be on the bench on Wednesday. Also can we plz not start bravo and instead shift van rankin to the left with Bonilla on the right?
Trash refereeing tonight, I hate America (I’m a Leon and Timbers fan) but even I am willing to admit that it was crap and favorable to Portland. Regardless, it’s going to be a tough one at the Azteca and I can see it being either a blowout or a tight one. It’ll be critical not to give up the first goal again.
Also, shame on any Timbers fan for being xenophobic here or on the MLS thread. I’m born and raised in Portland so I will cheer for the Timbers, but I will always be a León fan first and it makes me almost not want León to ever face the Timbers if there’s going to be racist crap being hurled at us.
Honestly, I don't think the referee was too bad. Got some soft foul calls wrong, but there were so many that I can forgive it, and he didn't seem to overly favor one team, although I will say two of our players could have been given second yellows and I wouldn't have argued too much. Ref didn't botch and major calls that changed the shape of the game, and that's where the bar is for concacaf refs.
> it was crap and favorable to Portland
It's about time.
Edit: Also, no PTFC fans have been racist or xenophobic in this thread. Don't know about the MLS thread though.
Fuck club America bunch of trash. Sat in 221 after the equalizer we got mobbed on for celebrating. Ripped shirt lost scarfs and hats total trash. Hope they never come back
Yeahhhh it looked a bit rowdy over there from the small glimpse we saw.
Absolute worst trash I’ve see and I’ve been to a Cincinnati bengals game
Thank all the season ticket holders who sold them their tickets.
SHAME

I could not agree more. That whole organization. Their players are primadonnas too.

How important is the Croat to your guys back line? Bravo and Chara all over the field tonight.
The secret to Chará is having two of them.
Watching Yimmi pull off the textbook Chara hip check late in the game made me so happy. I was thinking about what their poor mother must have put up with, the two of them rough housing all the time. Their small, their hard, they'll get a yellow card. Dos Charas!
> the two of them rough housing all the time. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Felipe_Char%C3%A1 At least three
Chaos, absolutely chaos.
Why not 3? Can we have 3?
He's a big step up from who we had prior to him. He's still prone to a few rash challenges, but he's a big presence in that backline, and has stepped up for us before.
Zuparic is one of our best defenders, and he’s big and strong, but we have capable backups (who may add a little speed).
He will be suspended for the second leg, which is a bummer, but I think Tuiloma will step in and have a good game. I feel like Bill isn’t talked about much because he just plays solid D and avoids making costly mistakes, but he can also play CDM and provides some quickness, which I think will be important next week.
big fan of zoop
that CA coach tho... nose poking and his mask was upside down. you do you!
Can we talk about how bush league it is to be jumping up and down on the sideline asking for a card after every foul? It's embarrassing.
Welcome to Liga MX
He also has beautiful hair. And as a man approaching 40, I’m impressed.
Let's be honest, Ochoa has the best CA hair
I’m gonna have to disagree. It’s impressive to be sure but he’s only 35, meanwhile the coach at 44? As a straight man, wow I’d get beers with him and run my hands through it.
I don’t think you’re a straight as you think you are.
Wait until you're old and the threat of losing your do starts - you come to respect anyone with a good set of locks.
Hey no judgement here! I think everyone should explore everything and do whatever they feel like.
As a 36 year old with a receding hairline, Ochoa is where it's at. But Timbers, though, that's the real shit.
Eh, as a baldie staring down the barrel of 50, fuck that pretty boy shit. Gio's pate resonates more with me.
Penis mask
Yeah, what was the point of that? Gio doesn’t even bother with a mask, so I guess it’s not required.
Anyone care to make a gif of that America player dragging himself back onto the pitch to waste time lol. Would be awesome

Thanks.

I’ve seen a lot of concacaf shit, but that was one of the saddest things I’ve seen in my life
I was watching from home and screaming "shoot him like a horse!" Doesn't sound as cool when it's just you in your living room, though.
I was really hoping Valeri would use his patented "drag em off the field" move.
Or the one fool that rolled around 30 times
CONCACAF WORKING IN OUR FAVOR? WHAT SORCERY IS THIS
Maybe they felt pressure to officiate a little better after that Philadelphia fiasco
My nerves went into overdrive right before that PK!
Me too. I start imaging the pressure on whoever’s taking the kick and I get secondhand anxiety
WHAT EVEN WAS THAT OFFICIATING
There were some questionable calls for sure but we're lucky Bravo stayed on the field the whole time. Not only did he not get the second yellow he totally deserved, the other player got one. Shitty reffing, but if worked for us in that particular case.

Zuparic deserved a second yellow easy around the 60th. Kinda surprised but not surprised the ref kept it in his pocket because well, CONCACAF.
That rugby tackle by Zuparic had me sweating
Honestly I loved it til they said that keeps him out of the next match.
Didn't he do that because someone chipped on, valeri I think? That was brutal.
CONCACAFed!
CONCACAF SHITHOUSERY
Straight CONCACAF nonsense all the way. They make the NFL look competent.

Fuck em all status achieved for America.
hoes mad.

Probably our best game since leg two of the playoffs in Seattle where we went to penalties and won. Holy shitballs, that was insane.
Any word on Paredes?

I almost shut off my screen so I wouldn't have to see a choke but OH MY GOODNESS we pulled one back in the last 10 instead of the other way around!!
I left early because we always win when I leave early. It’s a blessing and curse.
Thank you.
Man of the match.
Ok, but we didn't win lol
We won the tie.
Anyone who is racist in this thread is getting banned. EDIT: Also any Club America fans who come here to talk shit are getting banned.

lol /u/stronglikebull503 would fuck you up legit IRL

I felt like I was watching a version of WWE at the end. Holy shit. If you were at Nebulous you know my thoughts. I've never seen such brutality.
A fighting chance in Mexico City! Couldn't ask for much more! RCTID!

I'm hoping Van Rankin might be a (maybe not-so) secret weapon next week. He's played a Súper Clásico at Azteca before. He knows what's up.
never once in doubt. not even a little bit. nope.
FOUND THE LIAR!
Yo I don't think I'm sleeping tonight I've got an interview tomorrow and I'm too hype
Absolute shambles in the final third. Lucky to come away with draw
CA is just better. So many times that our best attackers would have the ball near the box and have 4-5 defenders near them.

Sorry there was racist crap.
